Canon XF300 files importing without video track

When I import files from my Canon XF300, either directly off the card or from a duplicate of the card on my hard drive, only the audio tracks come in. I've tried doing the import from Media Browser and from the import dialog with the same results for both. The video files work fine in Canon's XF Utility and on the camera itself.
I tested this with another set of videos--some work and some don't. I have no idea what's making one set of files work and others not. I have one older project from when XF300 import did work for me, and one of those files has since changed to just showing audio on its own. What's going on here? I've tried Adobe phone support but it's impossible to get ahold of anyone as the callback system doesn't work properly (calls you back and then puts you on hold for 20+minutes.)
I really need to get thsi working as its for a project and it's frustrating as there are no errors. I've tried re-installing Premiere Pro with no success.

Doesn't look like Beyond Compare has a mac version, so I used Diff to check the differences. The only thing that was different was in the XMP files, which much be something Premiere makes?
Here's the output of diff -rc in one specific folder:
diff -rc /Volumes/Buffy/Video/Havana Garage/HG Havana/CONTENTS/CLIPS001/AA0903/AA0903.XMP /Volumes/Buffy/Video/Havana Garage/CONTENTS/CLIPS001/AA0903/AA0903.XMP

  • How to import wmv video tracks in Premiere Pro CC on mac?

    Hi,
Is there a way to import wmv video files in premiere without converting them before?
I'm aware, that exporting is another topic, i'm only intrested in importing.
I only found the information, that AME is able to import WMVs after installing Windows Media Player for Mac (http://forums.adobe.com/message/4031104), but is this also possible in the same way for Premiere Pro?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

Were you ever able to find a solution for this? I am working on a project that has some .WMV files and trying to import them in Premiere Pro CC on a Mac. Thanks!

  • Canon mvi files import

    Hi
Will Premier 6.5 import MVI movie files used by canon cameras
    Thanks
    Paul M

I have never heard of MVI... do you mean MOV?
The key is... what codec is inside that MOV wrapper?
Read Bill Hunt on a file type as WRAPPER http://forums.adobe.com/thread/440037
    What is a CODEC... a Primer http://forums.adobe.com/thread/546811
What CODEC is INSIDE that file? http://forums.adobe.com/thread/440037
Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... a screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing
    For PC http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ or http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en
    For Mac http://mediainspector.massanti.com/
    http://blogs.adobe.com/premiereprotraining/2011/02/red-yellow-and-green-render-bars.html
If you have a red line over the timeline after importing a video and before adding any effects... your project is wrong for your video... read above about codecs
Once you know exactly what it is you are editing, report back with that information... and your project setting, and if there is a red line above the video in the timeline, which indicates a mismatch between video and project
Also, if you are talking about a HiDef camera... your old Premiere 6.5 is not likely going to work... but, what is the exact codec?

  • Exporting MPEG 2 files with audio & video tracks COMBINED?

I want to post a film on Google Video. I'm told they like MPEG2 files, but with the audio and video combined.
How can I create an MPEG2 with the video and audio combined?
I've also been told I can change the .m2v extension to .mpg after I've encoded, without causing problems. Their 'uploader application' doesn't like the .m2v extension.
    Thanks,
    Ben

Compressor's standard mpeg2 export presets are set up to create separate audio and video files. Changing a m2v extension to mpg does nothing. You still have a file with only video.
However, deeper in Compressor is the means to create muxed (mixed audio and video) files. Do a search here, it has been discussed a few times.
Still, why not send them an mpeg4 file?

  • Working With Canon XF300 Files

    Hi everyone,
I rented a Canon XF300 for a live event shoot yesterday, and now I am trying to get the footage into an editable form. The two hour event was broken up into numerous .mxf files (The container file that the Canon XF300). My main concern is how to merge those separate files into one large 1.5 hour file, to make the editing process smoother. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am using the CS suite for this job, but I also have FCP7 on my system, in case the workflow involves that software...
    Thanks in advance!
    Joel G.

I'm faced with a similar problem as the OP. I can't find a way to join 2 or 3 clips together so a sequence can be edited as one. I'm on PP 5.0.3.
Apparently (and I can't confirm this) for Panasonic P2 files, Premiere works out which clips are supposed to be contiguous (using the metadata) and joins or merges them in some way.
This does not appear to be the case for Canon XF300/305 MXF clips.
Has anyone come across a workflow for joining or merging MXF clips for use in PP 5/5.5?

  • Linked Adobe Tagged Text files importing without styles

I have several data-heavy weekly publications where suddenly, the link to all Adobe Tagged Text format files have the proper paragraph styles and character styles stripped on being placed.  I'm aware of the default settings issue, where you deselect all and make sure the character styles is none, and that does not seem to be the issue. Specifics are
Working in CS 5 (Version 7.0.4)
The Adobe Tagged Text format files are exported from Excel spreadsheets
The InDesign documents have links to the Adobe Tagged Text format files, and Update Link is used inside InDesign to update the text when the file is exported from the spreadsheet.
When the publications are opened on my workstation, ALL files linked to Adobe Tagged Text files are not imported correctly, they revert to the Basic Paragraph style.
These are not new documents I'm designing or new Adobe Tagged Text files, this is part of a production process that has worked without issue for years.
When the same documents are opened on another workstation, and Update Links used, they come in perfectly, so it doesn't seem to be a document or file corruption problem, but a problem with my environment or ID settings.
It's not one specific document or file, it is every single document that has a link to an Adobe Tagged Text file (and we have lots, I tried several!)
I've opened the text files in the text editor to check them, but as I mentioned: same document, same files, I'm the only one who can't update without stripping out the styles.
    Thanks! Nancy

Hi, Peter! Thanks for the response. Yes, it's really Tagged Text. See below. After exporting from the spreadsheet and database, opening the document in InDesign, and selecting update link, we do no editing in InDesign after the fact because everything is already setup exactly as we want it with the Tagged Text format.
I have literally hundreds of these among several different documents, updated weekly, mainly dealing with prices and numbers. Every one of the links to Tagged Text format files in every publication now strips out the Tagged Text paragraph style and character style formatting on Update Link on my workstation only. On my other two workstations, the links update without issue, and everything is correct in the final document.
So I'm beginning to think I need to look at rebuilding something, maybe as Joel said, replacing preferences. I keep looking for a workstation or ID option that might effect this.

  • GoPro and 5D clips importing without video

I have several GoPro .mp4s and a few 5D .movs, and I cannot get them to import into Premiere CS6 Mac 6.0.2 with the video included in the clip. Only the audio imports in whether I cmd+I, drag and drop or use Media Browser.
The clips play fine in VLC and Quicktime, and FCP7 can import them just fine, so this is a real head scratcher for me. I'm used to .MTS and .MXF issues, but not my reliable 5D stuff!
I've never seen this kind of error before and I'd like to avoid transcoding. I have started fresh projects and tried importing and the same issue occurs. Is this an issue with my preferences, a bug in my install or something else?
    Thanks

    hi tati,
    welcome to the  board
you probably try to import mpegs (iMovie is meant for import from miniDV camcorders....)
mpegs need conversion, get for free Streamclip and convert your "clips" into something usefull - WITH audio...
    hope, that helps.........

  • Snow Leopard iTunes 10.5 will not play multiple video tracks in QuickTime .MOV files

I recently discovered that Snow Leopard iTunes version 10.5 won't play multiple video tracks in a QuickTime .MOV file.
Both video tracks appear and play correctly when playing the file in:
    - QuickTime Player 10 or QuickTime Player 7.7 on the same Snow Leopard machine
    - iTunes 10.3.1 on another Snow Leopard machine
    - iTunes 10.5 on Leopard or Windows 7
So I think the problem is iTunes 10.5 on Snow Leopard (although I haven't been able to test iTunes 10.4).
First test file is two 640x480 video tracks side-by-side (total dimensions 1280x480):
    http://160.94.17.23/demo/two-video-tracks-1280x480.mov
All I see is the first (left) video track, and not the right one.  iTunes "Get Info" command incorrectly reports the video dimensions of the file as 640x480.
Second test file is two 640x480 video tracks played one after another (duration of 10 seconds each):
    http://160.94.17.23/demo/two-video-tracks-640x480.mov
All I see is the first video track, and although it reports the correct file duration (20 seconds), the second video track never appears -- it simply freezes on the final frame of the first video track for the last 10 seconds.
Anyone else see similar behavior?  Unless I'm missing something, I suppose I should submit this as a bug to Apple.

I have the same problem, i tried re-installing, converting it to AVC H264 but none seems to work so far

  • 1 Movie file has video track for appletv & 1 for iphone

Does anyone know how when you purchase a movie on itunes in HD, you get a beautiful HD movie to watch on your AppleTV that is a fairly large file, but when you choose to sync it to your iphone the movie file is MUCH smaller, made just for the iphone. There are not two files, so I assume the file has 2 video tracks in it and syncing just extracts the smaller file. Any one have insight on this? I'm ripping my own movies and want to create the same thing. Once file with a HD track and an iphone track.

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums.
When you purchase HD files from itunes you DO get two files.
Quicktime can create multi tracked files but I don't believe they will play on the tv or the ipod. Neither device to my knowledge supports sprites

  • .ts-files with multiple audio tracks / Premiere Elements 12

    Hello forum,
once more I need a little help please.
I've created successfully a few DVD's, and by now I'm a master in creating my own menue templates , but now I have again some problems.
I imported a .ts file which I recorded on my Sat Receiver. This file contains a video track and 2 audio tracks:
    1. German 6-channel AC3,
    2. English 2-channel AC3 (I can add a screenshot of the file info's if needed).
Now my problem is that I only hear some kind of background sound, music and so on, no voices. So not really one of the tracks I mentioned above.
The file works good when I play them with VLC player, and I'm able to chose the 2 languages there.
What I don't really understand is, I created several DVD's with exactly the same file type, I mean the file info's are identical except the lenght differs for a few minutes.
Is there a way to chose the audio track in Premiere Elements like I can chose it in VLC player? Or is there another way to bring the voices in there?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jessie
My system is a Macbook Pro, 16 GB RAM, 2.5 Ghz, Premiere Elements 12

    Hi ATR,
yes, that's what I meant. It worked without problems with a lot of files in different projects. I made a few screenshots, maybe they help to get it fixed.
This is the file that worked fine:
And this is the one that doesn't work:
By now I haven't changed anything in the settings as I don't know what I could change.
The files that worked came out with the german soundtrack, so I assume 5.1 channel.
I'm really out of ideas now :/

  • FCPX export: Mutliple video tracks in MP4!?

    Hello
I noticed something strange today. FCPX sometimes integrates two video tracks in MP4-Files when exporting. Can anybody explain why this happens?
I exported a bunch of MP4s with different lengths out of FCPX using "Share for Apple Devices 720p". (Same settings for every file: 1280x720px, Format: Computer, Quick Conversion)
Then I tried to import them in Compressor. Some worked, some didn't. So I started to have a closer look at them, trying to find the differences.
    MediaInfo revealed the following:

  • File import difficulties in L5.6

A number of files of various formats (avi, MOV, mp4, NEF, jpeg, tif) will not import into Lightroom 5.6, although Elements 12, and Photoviewer have no problem dealing with them. I don't think the files are corrupted and the same hardware is used in each case importing from an external USB3 disk. When importing under the 'Add' option most files import without a problem but some fail with the message 'An unknown error has occurred while reading the video file. Connecting to Dynamic Link server failed', and others fail with the message 'no photos found for import'. I am new to Lightroom and would really appreciate some help with this, R.

    Oops, sorry.

  • ?can SG grade a sequence that has multiple video tracks from Pr?

i have footage layered, in prep for AE work in Pr w/ footage on tracks v1,v2 & v3. i need to grade all of these.  is there a way in SG to do this, or do i need to modify my Pr to do it.

Unfortunately at the moment you can only import 1 video track via edl or you send to speedgrade which "composites" all your video track into one

Is there a plugin for FCPX Ver 10.0.7, I found one for FCP 7  but that doesn't work. I also downloaded The Canon XF Utility but although this opens the clips from the camera I am unable to get the clips into FCPX.
    Fred,
Sorry, I mis-spoke. I do have Canon Utility installed on my SL machine, but have used it mainly as a file review interface and as a backup utility. My MXF files are then brought in via Log & Transfer in FCP 7, which requires one of the plug-ins (and as you noted, does not work with FCPX).
In the majority of situations I'm ingesting on location to a MBP running Lion. In that case, I have the option of importing them either into FCP7 or FCPX.
A came across this hack for  getting the Canon plug-in to install on SL. It looks straightforward but I haven't tried it, so if you do, proceed at your risk. As for me, my plans are to partition my drive later this month and boot from both 10.6 and 10.7 as necessary.
    Good luck.
