Canon XH G1s and Premiere CS4

I just bought a Canon XH G1s and tried to transfer some footage to Premiere. It would not allow me to view the footage while importing, even though it did import (with some problems on a few of the clips, like saying that one clip had been captured at 110 fps). I am using a new G5 with Premiere CS4, and am hoping that the camera is compatible. I would hate to think I spent $7,000 for a camera that won't work with CS4's Premiere Pro. Yikes! Any help would be appreciated.

Thats correct no image in the capture screen while capturing.
You could use HDVSplit instead, which also does scene splitting which Premiere doesn't.

  • Canon vixia HF G10 + premiere CS4 = dropped frames?!

I bought a canon vixia HF G10. It stores video in chunks of 2GB size .MTS files.
I put those files in premiere time line sequentially, and found that right before the file boundary, the video jumps forward by 3 frames, and after crossing the boundary, the same frame repeats 3 times. I checked two different boundaries and both have the same problem. This is very upsetting.
Has anyone seen this before? I don't know if this is a camcorder bug or a premiere bug.
Is there a free video player or editor I can use to examine the last few frames and the first few frames of .MTS files?
    Premiere CS4 64 bit on windows 7

The answer I found is that when canon camcorder split the MTS file into 2GB chunks, only the first file has the proper MTS header. The other files do not and are therefore not really MTS files.
The correct solution is to concatenate all the files back into one MTS file before putting them into premiere. Using windows command prompt copy /B would do the trick. However with later windows version not having command prompt, other binary concatenation utility need to be used. Canon's own software that comes with the camcorder would also work, but I don't like it.

  • Canon Vixia HG21 and Premiere CS3

We just purchased a Canon Vixia HG21 and are unable to import the footage into Premiere CS3. Files are of .m2ts extension. Is Premiere CS3 not able to read these? Is CS4 better or able to? What are our options?

we have upgraded to CS4 and the program still can't import the m2ts files this camera generates
I assume that this means that you have the full-paid version of CS4. Is that correct? The reason that I ask is because the trial version will not handle anything MPEG.
Now, there have been reports of full-paid versions of CS4 reverting to the trial version, with the updating to CS4.2. If this has happened, again, you will not have support for anything MPEG. One test would be to find an MP3, or some other MPEG Asset, and try to Import that. If you get a failure, you likely have a trial version now. See Below:
The "cure" is to de-Activate your version and THEN uninstall. Run the Adobe Clean Script CS4 3 - 4 times, rebooting between each. Next step is to install the CS4 version, Activate again and then apply all updates to CS4.2. We do not know what causes a few updates to change the installation to the trial, but it happens too often. The above steps, in that order, work for all.
Good luck, and let us know if that helps.

  • Clip notes with reader 9 and premiere cs4

After upgrading  reader to version 9 clip notes no longer works from Premiere CS3. It does work with premiere CS4 but a modification to reader by the reviewer is required to view the clip notes. Otherwise the video play/rewind etc buttons will be missing. This modification is detailed here www.alserver.co.uk/clipnotesreadme.pdf.
I have discovered this after many hours of trial and error and have posted the workaround here for anyone else with the same problem. Adobe support have been as much use as a chocolate tea pot! why do they ruin such great feature of premiere.
If anyone knows of a better workaround then please advise.

...real-time playback works fine in other high-load editing programs, as in the 2-series version of Avid Media Composer (which, by the way, played back just fine on my GeForce card and CPU/RAM configuration.)  I wanted to go to Premiere because of my other CS programs.  That said, I'd like to take a different approach other than simply throwing money and horsepower at a problem that might simply be a configuration issue.
    Thanks!

  • Canon CanoScan Lide25 and PS CS4

Back when I had Photoshop CS3 installed, my Canon CanoScan Lide25 USB scanner appeared in the File... Import... Canon Scanner.  But with my recent upgrade to CS4, it's no longer there, and I have to scan using the horible Canon software on my OSX 10.6.2 system.
When I was using CS3, I don't recall doing anything special to get Photoshop to recognize the scanner; it was just in the File... Import... menu.  I have the latest Canon driver/software installed, and I even installed it after I installed Photoshop (if that matters).  But still, there's no scanner import in CS4.
Any idea why this is, and how I can get it back in the File... menu?
    Thanks!

I use the ScanGear CS driver for my CanoScan CS440F.
It's a few steps up from an LiDe model, but like you, I was unable to use the Import menu to scan until I visited Canon's website and reinstalled the ScanGear driver.
I had an LiDe 20 and an LiDe 30 with CS, CS2, and CS3. I never had a problem with either of them in any version. Maybe I'm just lucky I guess.
If it weren't for about 1600 slides I inherited and needed to preserve digitally, I never would have gotten rid of the other two, but the CS4400 scans slides and they didn't.

  • Reinstalling XP over CS3 and Premiere CS4 without losing prefs etc.?

    Hello people,
I have Master Collection CS3 (all programmes including Premiere Pro) plus Production CS4 (Premiere Pro, Encore, AE and AME) installed on an XP machine.  Unfortunately I have had a series of very unlucky system and disk crashes which I have been unable to bring back to a fully working state. Cutting a long story short, after several methods of repair, I can boot but the system does not operate 100% correctly, and I now also have problems launching either Premiere (CS3 and CS4) and Photoshop since connecting a DV camera (they were working OK before then). Premiere CS3 quits to the desktop when I get to the 'open project' screen, CS4 tells me it cannot communicate with "ImporterProcessServer", Photoshop hangs after launch.
So in essence I have decided the only thing left to do is to reinstall a fresh copy of Windows XP and reinstall all the applications :-(
I have looked everywhere on the forum but I need guidance as to how to go about this process and still retain my preferences, plug-ins, cache files, preview files  etc. - I have an old but very important project that I want to keep as much as possible in its original state, and that includes rendered files, references to special effects plus of course various settings. Plus of course all the activation/deactivation paraphernalia.
So, can please someone suggest me the best course and order of action to this purpose?  Shall I uninstall CS3 & CS4 or not? Shall I deactivate first? Can I just reinstall XP afresh and then run the CS3+CS4 installers confident that they will leave my settings unaltered? What about the fact both CS3 and CS4 had downloaded updates applied to them?
I would be very grateful if someone could please tell me what steps should I do in order to return the system to a working state whilst preserving as much as possible of the current CS3/CS4 installation.
    Many sincere thanks in advance.

Thank you, but sorry I do not wish to sound stupid or insisting: do I uninstall both CS3 and CS4 as well?  I was hoping that if I do not uninstall CS3 and/or CS4 the Adobe installer might be smart enough to leave the updated files and my preferences.  Also, I have a folder called Adobe in My Documents, which obviously contains about 30GB of preview and cache files, if I leave it in place will the uninstaller (and new installer) preserve its contents or is it going to delete everything?

  • Can i install Adobe Premiere Pro 7 -AND- Premiere CS4 TOGETHER on XP?? NEED THIS FOR TESTS!!

Hello volks, i have a question.
I want to install Adobe Premiere 7 AND Adobe Premiere CS 4 TOGETHER on Windows XP.
I need this for testing somethings.
Is this possible, or make this more problems i need??
Thank you a lot for help!
    Best regards
    Wanderer

Install 7 first and then CS4, otherwise you will run in all kinds of mysterious problems. If you already have CS4 installed, first deactivate, uninstall, run Clean script several times, rebooting in between, install 7, install CS4, activate and run the updates.

  • Quicktime (.mov) von Canon EOS 7D in Premiere CS4

    Laut der Adobe-Seite...
    http://help.adobe.com/de_DE/PremierePro/4.0/WSd79b3ca3b623cac9-61c6f4fc1246e1c1526-8000.ht ml

    Trotzdem Danke
    Gruß, Dave

  • Does anyone use Cineform Neoscene with Canon t2i footage and Premiere Elements 10?

I'm wondering if its worth the $100.00 investment - not looking to spend more money but I really want to avoid the hassle I've had with other editing programs...... I will be using MOV H.264 footage from Canon Elph 500 and Canon t2i and looking ffor the easiest workflow and I came across this item and am wondering if people have used it.
    Thanks!
    Maureen

QT Pro can do Cut-and-Butt editing, and if that is all done, can Export without Retranscoding the footage.
For much more than that, however, it lacks the capabilities.
I do not know how well CineForm's NeoScene works with PrE, but before PrPro got full AVCHD native support, was very popular with the PrPro users. I cannot recall anyone having an issue with it, in that program, but might have missed a complaint, or two.
    Good luck,

  • Canon HF11 AVCHD and Premiere Pro CS4

I had been using a Canon Optura xi for years with good success, and recently with Adobe On Location with good success.
Recently I decided to take the plunge into HD and purchased the Canon HF11 which has AVCHD.
I realize now that without firewire support I cannot use On Location. Too bad because I really liked the ability to note my scenes, etc.
I'm having a little trouble getting everything to work together and was hoping someone could offer some suggestions.
My output is going to be hi def for you tube and for family movies (burned to DVD and/or AppleTv).
    1. If file size is not an issue should I always shoot at highest quaility?
    2. Would I choose the setting AVCHD 1080i30 (60i) non-amorphic?
What recommendations would you have for exporting to You Tube, DVD, and Apple TV. So far my exports have been a little blocky.
Last, would you recommend purchasing AVCHD upshift to make the editing process a little less painful ($50 vs a $3,000 for new system).
    Chris

Thanks for the response. I'm going to try this out tomorrow for youtube.
If I were to export from premiere for anything but youtube and maintain highest quality for playback on a PC what would you suggest? There are just so many presets I don't know what to pick. I've tried a few (Quicktime) and they look lousy.
Maybe I'm missing something, I see other people mentioning interlacing, etc. Someone else suggested shooting 24P to eliminate interlacing issues?
Thanks for helping me get to a resoltion.

  • Canon CR2 RAW and PhotoShop CS4

Just got the RAW update for my Canon SX1 IS.
Neither Bridge CS4 nor PhotoShop CS4 (both fully updated) recognise the format despite CR2 being listed in the Bridge file associations for PhotoShop CS4.
In Bridge I just get a file icon.
In PhotoShop I get a 'file type not recognised' type of message.
Must I use Canon Digital Photo Profession to convert to TIF for processing in Adobe Camera Raw, or am I missing something?

Thanks for the tip Ellir. I downloaded 5.4RC last night and it didn't have support (tested) and today official 5.4 gets released with the support. I feel lucky
And to whiners, I'm just asking a question. I really feel that forums would have warmer welcoming and less elitism. But oh well.
Anyways SX1 problem solved, tested and it works. Thank you Adobe.

  • AJA Xena LS and Premiere CS4 color correction

Is anyone using the AJA Xena LS with Premiere Pro CS4?
I have a problem with color correction and it appears that the Xena card could be the reason for it.
When I apply a color correction to a clip, the color correction takes effect only as long as the left mouse button is pressed but doesn't retain the correction once the LMB is released (see my previous post "CS4 video effects" for more details).
Any input (other than the help already provided in the "CS4 video effects" post) will be appreciated.
    Thanks!

This problem was solved with the new Xena drivers released 09-04-09.
New problems occurred, but they are specifically AJA related.

  • Canon ALL-i and Premiere

I'm trying to find out if there are any known issues in Premiere 6 when editing footage shot on a Canon 5D MIII using ALL-i compression. Anyone?

I would ask over in the Premiere Pro forums http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere.

  • Compatible HDV formats between Premiere CS4 and AE CS4?

Sorry if this has been covered before.
I'm new to CS4 Production Premium, (but not Premiere in general), and I'm having trouble finding a compatible format that I can use between AE CS4 and Premiere CS4. I'm using 1080i HDV captured from a Canon XHA1.
Premiere CS4 reads it just fine, but I cant get it into AE.
Thanks in advance for any comments.
    Andy

once I understood it was only a one way street per use.
It can be sort of two-way.
