Cansomeone please tell me what the simplest way is to backup your files from you Mac and then completely restore it back to when I first bought it? I do not want to download or purchase any software, and I would like to keep my important files-pics, music
I just would like to completely reset my MAC. I dont want to have to download or purchase a software to download, and I dont quite understand what the time machine is supposed to do if you have not been told to use if before. Shouldn't mac have some type of in home software already installed? And how can I completely restore my mac back to its original system?
1: Connect a external powered drive like a Firewire or USB drive. If you question the drive format or need to format it, first do that in Disk Utility before transfering any files to the drive. MSDOS, FAT32 or exFAT is best for any Windows or Mac to access the files.
2: Transfer your files manually by dragging and dropping your Users Folders like Pictures, Movies, Documents and Music (do not use TimeMachine!!) Eject the drive and disconnect from the computer.
3: Next insert the cd that came with your computer and reboot holding c
4: Two screens in is a menu option called "Utilities" select Disk Utility.
5: On the left is your internal boot drive, select it and Erase > Format HFS+ Journaled > Security Option > Zero All Data. Wait about a hour or so until it's finished.
6: When it's done, quit and your back in the installer again, install OS X and when finished, shut down.
The next time the computer reboots, it will go through the "welcome" video and the initial setup, just like a new Mac.

Same
• One video on track 1 and the other on Video.track 2
• Resize to 25% and move one to the left and the other to the right
Diff
• I don't use the blade tool
• I use the Pen tool and change the transparency - then I get fast or slow transitions in same stroke and easy to fine-tune later if needed. (But this can be done with the Roll-tool if Blade is used - so it might be as easy)
Final
• Resize to 100% and Center
Video is done
Audio - very close to this by changing the level so that best audio will dominate
• Pen tool here too
But that's me - the Alchroma way is as good as this or may be better for some

That largely depends on eactly which year and MacBook Pro (e.g., 5,1 ) model you are talking about, as well as whether you are rather "handy" and can do the swap yourself.
On older Macs, used complete screens are available on the secondary from machines that have died. Step-by-step photo-illustrated guides are also available for sources like ifixit.com. [Their motivation for providing these guides for free is that some readers will buy their parts to make the repairs themselves.]

You may search online to see if anyone formerly in the service business has older .pdf manuals for sale, maybe along with any older parts or vintage tools. That's a long shot. A local user group of vintage computer owners may also have some leads. A few with libraries of older tech database may have pdfs on DVDs.

"Radio" seems to be the default label if you're using an Exchange account. Just go into the contact, tap "Edit" in the upper right. Tap the word "radio" and select the label you'd prefer to use.

I read through the thread you mentioned and it seems that people are having a lot of problems with the iCloud clients, so we're not alone, but the unique issue in my case is the failing email address vs. the working perfectly email address.
After reading your message tonight, I tried my setup again with the preferred Apple ID (the one without the "." between the names), and for the first time ever, IT WORKS. Mail app configured the servers both send and receive as p01-smtp.mail.me.com and p01-imap.mail.me.com. For the first time, I'm able to send and receive into the Mail app, create mailboxes, move messages into and out of mailboxes, keep Sent messages, etc.
I had a 50-minute support chat with MobileMe support via ExpressLane on Monday afternoon. They couldn't resolve my issue but passed me on to escalation. I was told to expect to get an email from advanced support by this afternoon, but none has arrived. However, so far tonight -- and I will check again tomorrow several times before declaring victory -- it looks like something has been fixed on the Apple end to make things work.
I will report back after I do some additional testing tomorrow to make sure the fix is real and is solid...and before I let my friend, the new Mac user, know the good news.

Typically the easiest way to generate XML from relational data is to use the SQL/XML operators (XMLElement, XMLAGG, XMLAttribtues, XMLForest). That speaker system is for sound cards on PC's which separate the channels, the Mac's don't seperate the channels or decode surround sound formats and only pass the 5.1 through the dual analog/optical stereo mini port.
You might find a external device that accepts Toslink optical inputs and then separates the channels and sends the appropriate signal to the powered speakers. -

Bundle all your requirements together with the application export.
The Supporting Objects feature absolutely rocks and yet very very (very!) few people seem to use it.

New to Mac and IPhoto, would like to organise events
Hello, i have just bought the new macbook pro and I'm trying to sort all of the photos I have uploaded... I think i understand correctly that all photos are stored as an event...you can then edit these and store them as an album (similar to itunes where you would create a playlist) I would like to sort the photos within events as at the minute they all appear within the same album and I would like them sorted rather than creating new albums that would essentially keep everything as is but duplicate the photo. I'm unsure whether to delete the photos are upload again? Hope someone can help!!
iPhoto works similarly to iTunes. Every photo is in the Library and everything else is a subset of the Library.
There are two ways of viewing the Library: One is Events - this is the Library broken into chunks, based on the date and time of the photos. The other view is called Photos, and that's just your whole Library.
Albums are groupings of photos from the Library. They are different from Events in one major way: Photos in Albums simply reference the photos in the Library. A photo can be in 50 albums and use no extra disk space, as it's the same photo that' been referenced. Events use the actual photos. To have a photo in two Events requires a duplicate file, and hence twice the disk space.

Photos within Events cannot all appear with the same Album, the two terms are not interchangeable.

As I said above, photos in Albums do not duplicate anything.
Events cannot be manually sorted. They are simple, basic level organisation. The day you want to sort manually is the day you outgrow Events

I use Events simply as big buckets of Photos: Spring 08, July - Nov 06 are typical Events in my Library. I use keywords and Smart Albums exensively. I title the pics broadly.

Where basis (The When is in the photos's Exif metadata). I also rate the pics on a 1 - 5 star basis.
Using this system I can find pretty much find any pic in my 30k library in a couple of seconds.
So, for example, I have a batch of pics titled 'Seattle 08' and a typical keywording might include: John, Anne, Landscape, mountain, trees, snow. With a rating included it's so very easy to find the best pics we took at Mount Rainier.
File -> New Smart Album
set it to 'All"
title contains Seattle
keyword is mountain
keyword is snow
rating is 5 stars
Or, want a chronological album of John from birth to today?
New Smart Album
Keyword is John
Set the View options to Sort By Date Ascending
Want only the best pics?
add Rating is greater than 4 stars
The best thing about this system is that it's dynamic. If I add 50 more pics of John to the Library tomorrow, as I keyword and rate them they are added to the Smart Album.
Keywording takes time to set up, there's no doubt about it. I use Keyword Manager as it's much more powerful than the inbuilt system, and adds the possibility of nested keywords. So, for instance, if I add John to a photo it also adds 'Family'. Now I can add many keywords to a pic quickly.
In the end, organisation is about finding the pics. The point is to make locating that pic or batch of pics findable fast. This system works for me.

I have two homes in two different staes and I spend time between the two. I would like to keep my iPad2 in sync with my desktops (PCs) in each of the homes as I travel between the two. When I try to sync with the second PC ( with my iTunes ID) it threatens to wipe out my iPad2. I just want to keep the two desktops and my iPad in sync. Please help.
Put a copy of the most current iTunes Media library onto a USB hard drive. Replace the older library with the newer one. Repeat the process when you return to the other home.
Or you can sync everything to iCloud where it is accessible anywhere you can connect via your Apple ID.
