Cant accept ics invitations

Hello,
I know this question has been asked many times - but I wan't to post this again and see if I have missed something.
I am so frustrated with not being able to accept meeting invites from Outlook users when they send me a meeting invite as a .ics attachment. I thought this might be addressed when ios 5 came out - but it doesn't work.
This is such a huge issue - and I cannot get rid of my mobileme and go to gmail.
Thanks in advance.
Chris

Does anyone know how to accept .ics invitations in iCal?

    Hi everyone,
This is an older thread but I am still having the same problem.
I am using Lion with latest updates and iPhone 4 with latest updates.
We use Google Apps mail for our work email server.  I have MAIL 100% working with my email address, and iCal is also synched with my Google Calendar on my MBA and iPhone.
I am one of the few people at my office that uses a Mac, and most use OUTLOOK.
Whenever I get a meeting invite, it shows up in MAIL as an attachment.  I double click on it and it auto-adds to the right iCal Calendar, however it gives me no option to accept the meeting.
I have attached photos for how the meeting shows up in my iCal (as you can see, my name still has a question mark and no forms of clicking it allow me to ACCEPT/DECLINE etc.).  I have also attached photos from the iPhone (shows the meetings show up, but only in grey-dashed-format)
    Hopefully someone can help/advise!
    Thanks!

  • Can't accept .ics invitations in iCal

    Hi,
Since I moved to iCloud I have a problem with accepting .ics invitations, which I receive as attachments in Mail. Double clicking a "Mail Attachment.ics" file in Mail adds it to iCal, which after a moment responds with the following dialog: "https://p-02.caldav.icloud.com:443/102203399/principal/ is not a location that supports this request." Two buttons: "Go Offline" or "Revert to Server"
Clicking either puts the invite into the calendar, but not up to iCloud. Taking iCal offline and then back will trigger a sync ("updating…" shows in iCal title bar) but event will still not show on iPhone or on iCloud.com
After approx. 15 minutes the invitation disappears from iCal on the iMac - which brings the desktop calendar into sync with iCloud but without the invitation I tried to accept....
This behaviour has been consistent since I moved to iCloud, for every .ics invitation I have received....
Is there a resolution for this issue?

  • Add alarms to accepted ics invites in iCal?

I found several discussions regarding editing .ics invitations in iCal but all were several years old.  Here's hoping that there is something more recent.
Most of the time, I simply want to add an alarm to the invited event.  I cannot:  drag the event to the desktop, as suggested in one answer, because "only the organizer can edit this event"; duplicate the event without sending notifications to everyone else invited; and of course, there is no 'edit' button available.
Is there any solution out there that is quicker and simpler than creating a dummy event for just adding a separate alarm?

    Hi John,
I never expected to get the developer on here!
Here's how I've got it set up...
    General tab
I've got the Sync Address Book dates to iCal checked.
For Birthday events and Anniversary events I've got the text "Birthdays and Anniversaries" so that they both go into the same calendar.
I've left only sync for group blank as I want it for all.
    Titles tab
For both Birthday and Anniversary I've got the the same fields, set to...
        First name | Last name | : | type | age
    Alarms tab
    In this tab I've got
Email:  5 days before at 08:00 ticked for Birthdays and Anniversaries
Message:  4 days before at 10:00 ticked for Birthdays and Anniversaries
I've got no other alarms set.
I've got the email set to my personal email address.
The path for the alarms to my Home folder
    Sound for alarms as Basso
When I then close Dates 2 iCal it creates the events in iCal, but not the alarms.
One further query, I've just done a reinstall of my system and since reinstalling Dates 2 iCal the Buy/Register button is greyed out, so I'm unable to reregister it, I purchased it a good while back as I've found it a really useful tool.
    Many thanks
    Steve

  • Accepting external .ics invitations

so, this may have been covered here or elsewhere, but i have a client looking for an answer.
accepting an invitation to an event sent as a .ics attachment from somewhere outside the company (using ical server internally) will only show up on a local calendar, not a shared ical server based calendar. is this the way it's supposed to work?
i noticed also that it wasn't possible to copy the event to one of the shared calendars, either. it seems to require a local calendar or nothing.
please post any hints or workarounds you may have used.

    One workaround (that's pretty unsatisfactory)…
You can 'cut' the event from one calendar and paste it into the 'ical server' one.
However, as far as I can tell:
    - it then looks for attendees from your Open Directory list and shows any external contacts up with an exclamation mark.
    - I don't think you can reply to the original invite
    - it thinks you are organising the event, instead of being invited to it.
So, you can get it into your server-based diary, which at least shows your non-availability to others on your system, but it's pretty useless in terms of a diary system if you want to work with others from beyond your network.
If your internal users use the Server based account, then you don't get emailed invites (all info comes through the iCal server), which at least makes this less of a problem.
Sorry I can't offer any more help, but if anyone else has any ideas please share them with us.

  • Cant open meeting.ics invites

Suddenly my iPhone, iPad and Macbook can't add meeting.ics invites to the iCloud calendar. Anyone else seen this? Was working fine a week or two ago.
    Running iOS 8.1.3 and Yosemite.

    Hi NHC2365,
I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with your devices. If you are having issues adding event invites to your iCloud Calendar, you may find the information and troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful:

  • ICal - incoming Mail ICS invites go to wrong calendar - or go to no calendar

My default calendar invites coming in on email (most often through Lotus Notes or Outlook) aren't going to the correct calendar, even though I have my defaults set up.  I've reviewed some threads on this and there appears to be no easy resolution: it sounds like an ICS invite will go to the FIRST calendar in your calendar list, not the "default" (only invitations created manually seem to go there).   Since I have one "on my Mac" calendar , which always appears above  iCloud, incoming mail ICS invites always go there.  On Yosemite..  My scenario is:
    1) I have one "on my Mac" calendar that I use because there are many reminders I only really need when at the home iMac; otherwise my phone is popping up annoying reminders when my Mac is already doing that (and if Apple had more "sleep" options I wouldn't even have to do this!).
    2) In Mail, default calendar is "Work" (in iCloud).
    3) Creating new invitations from iCal work fine: they go to "Work" calendar.
    4) Any invitations auto-accepted by Mail, however, go to the On My Mac.  Thus the suggestion of ordering the calendars won't work unless I can get "on my Mac" below the set of iCal calendars, which doesn't seem possible.
So if there's a way to move "on my Mac" DOWN I guess that would fix it.  But really,  a default calendar is a default calendar: why would incoming Mail ICS invitations not use it??  Any resolutions?
On another note, the "Auto Accept" option in mail doesn't seem to work consistently.  I haven't tested this, but it may only be from Lotus Notes emails, of which I get a lot.
    Thank you,  Ron

    anyone seen this…?

  • Can't accept outlook invites in iPhone calendar app

    Hi everyone,
Here's my problem: I have been using my iPhone 4 for about a year now, syncing the calendar via MobileMe first and then via iCloud. All this time I haven't been able to accept calendar invites on my phone. The functionality on my phone in steps:
I receive an Outlook invite as email, open the mail, scroll to bottom, open the ICS attachment.
The attachment opens up showing organiser, invitees, time, etc. In the bottom I have a button "Add to calendar"
I press the "Add to calendar" and the event display closes, I'm back in my mail app. Apparently, when I press "add to calendar" an automated reply is sent, saying I've tentatively accepted. I have to wait until I'm at my MacBook to accept or reject the meetings.
Any ideas on how and where I could fix this? Is this a setup issue?
So, I'm using iPhone 4 with a MacBook, both about a year old. All software is updated, syncing via iCloud.

    Hello Nelson,
On Lightning, to create your calendar access you need to fill an address like the following one:
    http://<hostsname>:<port>/caldav/<organization>t/principals/individuals/<username>
    On your browser --> http://hostaname:port/caldav
Then you need to proceed with the authentication, then after the organisation name choose
    - principals
    - individuals
    - you should see the <username> value
    - and then you will see the CalDav url you need to enter in Lightning to access your Calendar. From this point you should be able to see all the meeting created on Outlook and accept the future invitation.
    Hope that answer your question
    Regards
    Fred

  • Timezone in .ics invitation incorrectly taken into iCal

    Hello,
With my iPad I receive .ics calender invitations. The invitations that I send from my company computer to my iPad are all 6 hours off.
So I receive an invitation for a meeting 2-3pm EST and it displays at 8-9pm in my iPad when I am about to accept it. So the iPad is in middle-european time. I have checked and tried all the settings for calendar, and I haven't seen any improvent.
Oddly, when I open the same calendar invitation on my Mac, it is put correctly at 2-3pm in my calendar.
Does anyone know what is going on?
    Thanks!

I have the same problem. When I accepted an ICS invitation from Kansas, it went onto my cal in their time (one hour behind me); when I accepted an ICS invitation from Spain, it went into my calendar in their time (six hours ahead of me).
This happens from both my iPhone (IOS v6.1.3) and iMac (OSX v10.8.3).
I see similar but not this exact problem spread around the different Apple Communities.
Is there any resolution to this?

  • I have accepted iCal invitations with repeating events and they have since been deleted from the iCal on my Mac but won't delete from my iPhone. Help

I have accepted iCal invitations with repeating events and they have since been deleted from the iCal on my Mac but won't delete from my iPhone. Help

I experienced this issue as well.
    Background:
I had opened an ICS attachment for a repeating event on my iPhone, which added the item to my phone's calendar. I did not have the option to delete the calendar entry from my phone, and the item did not appear on the calendar on my Mac. My phone is currently running iOS 7 (but the problem began quite awhile ago; I don't recall which version of iOS was installed when it started).
    Solution (summary):
Create a new calendar, move the items that you wish to delete to the new calendar, then delete the new calendar
    Solution (detailed steps):
    Create a new calendar
On your phone, open the calendar app
Tap the "Calendars" option at the bottom of the screen
Tap the "Edit" button in the top left corner
Scroll to the bottom of the list and tap the "Add Calendar..." option
Give your new calendar a good name, such as "Delete me"
Tap "Done" in the top right corner to save the new calendar
Tap "Done" in the top left corner to finish editing the list of calendars
Tap "Done" to exit the list of calendars
Assign all calendar entries that you wish to delete to the calendar you created in step 1
Tap a calendar entry that you wish to delete
Tap the "Edit" button in the top right corner
Scroll down until you see the Calendar field (on an iPhone or iPod it's usually just below the bottom of the screen), then tap the Calendar field to bring up the list of available calendars
Tap the name of the calendar that you created in step 1 (e.g. "Delete me"); the screen should return to the main calendar entry page
Tap "Done" in the top right corner of the screen. You may need to then tap the "< Day" button on the top left of the screen to return to the main calendar view
Repeat the instructions in step 2 for each of the calendar entries that you wish to delete
Delete the calendar that you created in step 2 (this will delete all calendar entries assigned to this calendar)
From the main screen in the calendar app, tap the "Calendars" option at the bottom of the screen
Tap the "Edit" button in the top left corner
Tap the entry for the calendar that you created in step 2 (e.g. "Delete me")
Scroll to the bottom of the scren and tap the "Delete Calendar" option. You should be prompted with a warning that explains that "All events associated with this calendar will also be deleted."
If you're sure that the only items on this calendar are items that you wish to delete, tap the "Delete Calendar" button
Tap "Done" in the top right corner to exit the Edit Calendars screen
Tap "Done" to exit the list of calendars. You should now be back at the main view of the calendars app
Rejoice, your pesky repeating calendar events have been deleted
At this point all of the items that you assigned to the deleted calendar should be gone
Repeat the steps above for any entries that you missed
Post another message to this thread if this did not resolve your problem

  • Accepted iCal Invite - Not updating iCal

I sent out an invitation to an event through iCal to my company. Employees accepted the invites on a variety of machines -- Blackberrys, Macs, PCs, etc. All invites came back to me in my emails, with mime attachments.
When I clicked on the mime attachments to update the accepted attendees, only some of the attendees switched from a question mark to a check mark in my iCal event. Then I noticed that while all accepted emails looked the same, the attachments were named differently:
"iCal-20091103-131437.ics" - from the Mac user (updated to check mark in iCal)
"mime-attachment.ics" - from PC users (updated to check mark in iCal)
"meeting.ics" - from Blackberry users (still question mark in iCal)
So my question is: why are there different accepted .ics files, and why don't they all update my iCal event attendee list? And is there something I can do to work around this?
    Thank you.

Kludgy fix to convert an Event to "Accepted" status if iCal doesn't do it automatically.
If the invitee's return email to Accept the event does not change to a √, you can manually fix using TextEdit:
    1) drag Event from iCal to your desktop. this will create a .ics file.
    2) delete the Event from iCal and choose "delete and dont not notify" option.
    3) open the .ics file on desktop with TextEdit.
    4) find text "PARTSTAT=NEED-ACTION" is next to the invitees email address within .ics file.
    5) change "NEED-ACTION" TO "ACCEPTED" (without "), save changes and quit TextEdit.
    6) drag the changed .ics file from desktop back to the day in iCal and let iCal update itself.
    7) if you do Get Info on the Event you will now see a √.
I think this automatic update bug has something to do with .ics files have the same id number. At one point when I was dragging the ics file to iCal from Mail, iCal updated the Event with a completely different time and without any Description but the √ correctly appeared. I think my collegues' email app changed some of the internal formatting of the ics file base on what I saw when I opened his attached .ics file.
I hope Apple can fix this.
    Good luck.

  • My Outlook/iCloud calendar invites to others appear to work on my end and sync with my PC and mobile, but when other people "accept" the invite, it will not populate/add in to their calendar. How can i fix this without turning off iCloud?

My Outlook/iCloud calendar invites to others appear to work on my end and sync with my PC and mobile, but when other people "accept" the invite, it will not populate/add in to their calendar. How can I fix this without turning off iCloud?
I am at a new office that uses Outlook (not Outlook Exchange) which does not sync with my mobile... I just got iCloud set up on my PC to sync my contacts, calendar, reminders, etc... The sync worked (not without flaws, but the other issues seem solvable... I think), so that i can now see all my appointments on both my phone and on my PC. The problem I am having is that iCloud moved all of my calendar items from Outlook into iCloud calendar and now when I send out meeting/calendar invites the recipients may accept them, but the meeting does not get added to their calendar. This is a huge problem and may mean that i need to turn off iCloud.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Thanks!

I am replying to my own post here as I seem to have fixed the problem.
I do have some calendars that are shared. Some of those are shared with users who have time zone support turned on. So i activated time zone support on my iphone, then deleted my icloud subscription. I then signed in to icloud again and voila... problem solved.
It is a weird one as the other calendar views were always fine and when you opened an event that appeared in the wrong day (on list view), the correct date of the event was shown in the information...
one more bug in a complicated system I guess

  • How do I delete an event in ical that i've accepted an invitation to.

how can I delete an event in the calender app that I've accepted an invitation to.

    Right-click (Ctrl-Click) > delete

  • Every time I accept an invitation, it tries to add it to a shared calendar

My partner and I both have icloud accounts. We both use Mac Mail and iCal and have the latest updates and OS.
We have shared our iCloud calendars with each other. If I receive a calendar invitation to anyone except her, for some reason iCal tries to put it on her calendar which I only have read access to. Then I get the following error:
Then this error keeps happening every time I open iÇal. If I accept the invite on my phone or iPad... it works fine. But if I accept it on my laptop or iMac using iCal... I get this error. She doesn't have the same problem... she accepts invites and they go directly into her personal calendar like it's suppose to.
Since we both have iCloud... it shouldn't be a compatibility issue. I've read several threads on this particular error, but none with this particular scenario. I'm getting really frustrated, especially since it happens on two different computers but not on my devices. I should also mention this is a new issue since things moved to "iCloud".
Any help or points to solution URLs would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Jack

First, for Stop Motion Animation, there are better tools. These include iStopMotion and QuickTIme Pro Version 7.
If you want to do it in iMovie, it is possible, but slow.
First, go into iMovie Preferences, and make sure you check "Display Time as hh:mm:ss:frames". This will let you edit to the frame lever rather than to the nearest 10th of a second.
Second, see this Tutorial by Jon Walker on how to edit down to a single frame in a still image sequence.
You can modify his technique to get 2 or three frames.
