Cant access BIOS on Satellite L40T-A202

Hi!
Months ago i updated my Toshiba L40T-A202 laptop's bios. After the restart i cant seem to access the bios. I fixed it by jumping the jcmos in mobo. Now the problem occurrd again and i cant seem to fix it with the same fix i did.
Can someone help me? This latop was bought outside the country and i dont want to spend much cash and send it to repair shops.
Please help me on this.

Yes. I know i already voided the warranty by doing that. But jumping the cmos is the only qay to do that at that point. Besides toshiba service station here is very far and as I've said I don't have the means of flying there. Anyway to answer your questions sir: Yes, it was successfully updated. I can see the toshiba screen at start-up but it is stuck there, hence I can't log into windows.
The stuck in toshiba screen already happened before, but fixed by jumping the cmos. But now the problem appeared again and jumping the cmos don't seem to work anymore.
Thanks for the response sir.

  • How to access BIOS on Satellite L670-134

    Hi there,
i need to access the BIOS but i dont know the key combination.
Tried F1 F2 DEL Backspace etc none worked.
I think i turned an option like fast boot on once before... when i turn on the laptop i cant see any postscreen, the screen stays black after turning the laptop on and then the windows logo appears.
So how do i access the BIOS!?

    Hi buddy,
If you enable this fast boot option you must be very quick to enter the BIOS so press F2 key immediately after you turned on your notebook.
Alternative you can access the BIOS using preinstalled Toshiba HWsetup. The fast boot option you can also disable/enable with this tool as far as I know.

  • Z77A-G43 cant access BIOS with USB keyboard

    Hello guys,
I`ve been running into a bit of trouble.
It seems that I can no longer access the UEFI / BIOS menu at boot time by means of DEL key.
Even though my USB keyboard is powered and lighten up, the motherboard won`t take input from it. I can`t use ANY of the keys (DEL, Pause, F11 ..) until OS is done booting.
On the other hand, and old PS/2 keyboard apparently works just fine.
Now, I did tried the usual steps for troubleshooting: reset bios, then update to the latest version (2.12) / clear CMOS, etc.
    So far, no luck.
Whats boggles me is that I know FOR SURE that the keyboard used to work some time ago. I mean, it`s  the only one I have and I know I used it to set up the BIOS when I initially put the PC together.
Any further advice will be most welcomed.
    Thanks.

Some digging on the tubes hints to FastBoot option not allowing USB to run during POST.
    I`ll keep trying ..
    10x for the advice
Thats it man, turn it off and it will work. The same happened to me, now I can acces it without any problems.

  • Cant access BIOS MSI Z87 G43

    Hi Everyone,
I have had my pc for a few months now and i have been able to access my bios with no issues at all.
However, for a few days now my computer has skipped past the option to enter bios and just starts windows almost immediately. Everything ive tried to access it (ie press del or F8 etc when i power on) has not let me in. At start up the code 'A2' flashes up for a split second on a blank screen then windows starts up.
Does anyone have any ideas what I can do?
    Thanks

Yes I had fast boot enabled. I cleared CMOS and that has solved the problem.

    Hi
The BIOS for this unit can be found on Toshiba EU driver page:

  • Satellite L55-B5357 Can't access BIOS

How can i access/open BIOS on my satellite L55-B5357 laptop??  I've never had an issue opening bios on any conputer i've owned.  I like this laptop, but i need to access bios and just can't figure it out.  I've held F2 while powering up, held FN key plus F2 while powering up, tried ESC and most other F keys to no avail.  I get the Tishiba Black screen first then it goes to the windows screen where i have to log in, no bios option.  Please help????  This is driving me nuts, i've searched all over the internet and you guys are my last hope, what can i possibly be doing wrong, this should not be a problem, it should be as easy as pressing a key during boot.  Thanks.

Since Win 8 and 8.1 came along, things have changed a bit. Hold DOWN the shift key while clicking Shutdown. Hold DOWN F2 while pressing  the Power button.  Voila!  The BIOS/UEFI will appear.

The computer boots and operates normally ..  but i want to disable the built in soundcard, to replace it with a better one.
I also want to replace the cpu with something faster.. its a 2.33ghz quadcore now .(whats the fastest cpu for this mainboard ? where can i find a list)
If i flash or reset the bios? will it autodetect the hardware, even if i still cant access the setup screen? or just make  things worse
.. now it works .. its a miracle .. i figured out u u have to press del at the exact right moment at boot  .. if u press it too soon .. = black screen .. too late = no signal input ..  wierd design

Must be a Q8200 then.  But which one exactly?  There are three different revisions.  In any case, if your really have BIOS v1.0, you need a BIOS Update to ensure proper CPU Support.

  • P67A-GD55 can't access bios.

Had problem earlier to access bios using an msi p67a gd43, today i changed in to a p67a gd55 and i have the same problem. When i start it counts "98","99","A3" and then i press ALT and it just locks saying "starting setup".
I'm able to boot in to windows 7 64bit without any problem.
    My setup is:
    CPU: i5 2500k
    GFX: Palit Geforce GTX460 768mb
    RAM: 2x UMAX DDR3 1600 oc 2gb
    PSU: Zumax 630W
I've unplugged all HDD and DVD.
So far I've tried to Clear Cmos with button and also jumper/battery method. Bios was 1.8 stock but flashed it anyway to 1.8.
    Switch slots for RAM.
Removed the moderboard from chassi so it had no metal contact.
    Changed PSU.
Only things i havent been able to change is ram and gfx so i suppose one of them is causing this problem, as for the memory im not able to get any information from it in sisoft sandra, in cpu-z it cant identify the brand.
Anyone had this or similare problem, and what did you do?

I hearby would like to inform all people that cetus UMAX DDR3-1600 OC is NOT suitable with MSI's P67 chipset.
It would be beneficial if you could advise the forum what memory you are using now that does work. Makes it easier for others that are considering memory for their boards.

  • Laptop will not boot, stops at Toshiba screen then an error message. Can't access BIOS

I receive the following error message:
For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v2.2.7(11/02/10)
    Check cable connection!
    PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM.
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key
Before it first shut down, there was some blue screen with a message I was unable to read in time. I turned it back on and got the above message. I have done some research and it sounds like some kind of hard drive problem. I've checked the hard drive connection and it's fine, the same message appears. I also saw that you can access BIOS(not sure what this is exactly, I've never used it) and then somehow recover, reset or change a boot setting that may have changed by itself. I can't access it though. I have tried F8, I have tried pressing escape as soon as the red Toshiba screen comes on, and also tried holding it and releasing when the tone sounds, then pressing F1 but all I get is a tone and no screen.
It's about to be finals week and I really need some help getting this fixed...preferrebly without having to by a new hard drive because all kinds of homework, papers and study info is on this computer. I haven't even had it for two years yet. I can attach a picture of the screen if needed but it's just a black screen with the above message.
    Thanks for any help!
EDIT: Satellite L655-S5150 and Windows 7
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It does sound like a hard drive related issue, be it a virus, or physical failure.  If you have fast boot enabled, you will need to hold down F8 while you power up, as just tapping F8 at the BIOS splash screen will not work.  If you are unable to recover that way, hopefully you created recovery media when you first got the laptop(it would have prompted you in the action center).
If that was not done, you could always swap in a new hdd to get the system up and running, and get a eSATA to USB cable to get all of your info off your old drive.

  • T43 motherboard damage cant access hard drive

Hello, I wonder if anyone to there could advise me.
I have a T43 with finger print reader, I was shoved on the train and dropped my bag
which resulted in it hitting the floor and the plug punched through the back into the
motherboard. The laptop was in standby at the time.
I have brought a USB 2.5 hard drive connector to try and recover my data but cannot
    access it.
Is the hard drive encrypted if the finger print reader is used.
Can the hard drive be crashed so badly by the mother board being damaged that
    you cant access it anyway?
    Many Thanks
    Dave

    davidadams, welcome to the forum,
ouch! sorry to hear about your bad luck.
The fingerprint doesn't encrypt the hard drive, Client Security does if you configured it to do so.
If you had the finger print configured with a hard drive password set in bios you will not be able to access the hard drive in an usb enclosure. As long as you know the password it is possible to remove the password in another ThinkPad, preferably another T43.
As your T43 was in standby, it is possible that the drop also damaged the hard drive. This would have been less likely if it had been in hibernation mode or turned off as the heads would have been properly parked.
There are ways to recover files from a damaged hard drive, some less costly than others; it depends on how badly it is damaged, if it is damaged.

  • Accessing bios

My ideapad S300, running 64-bit os, cpu 64-bit, I need to enable VT via the bios, cant access the bios via setup, there is no option to edit bios, what is up with that !. Am running a Vmware player, wich will not run without Vizuliation, can anybody help me, my new business depends on it, by this time next week !.
    Thanks !!!!

    hi mikeevy2,
That's good to know but the recovery disc will just re-install the OS and will not allow you to enable Intel VT in the BIOS.
If the machine came with a pre-installed Windows 7, see also if you can access the BIOS by pressing F2 on startup (Fn+F2 is required if you have function key as an alternate key)
    Spoiler (Highlight to read)

im not sure if you need more specs than that please let me know if you do i can look it up as i said im new but willing to learn. thank you
i accidently posted in the amd forum first , but was given the advice to try it in another system and save to cd's so ill try that. any other advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you

First, you need to verify that D: point to your slave drive. You can do that in WinXP Disk Management. Do you have any valuable information you need in the slave drive? If no, just go ahead and format it. Did you also mention the slave drive had a OS for previous system? If yes, change the boot sequence settings in the BIOS and let it boot to your slave drive. Perhaps from there you can save some data. If not, well, just go ahead and format it.

The security level for your inside interface should be 100 ie.

    security-level 100
    ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0
    After changing that can you
    1) ping the outside interface of the ASA from the pc or ping the PC from the ASA
    2) I'm assuming you are trying to connect to 10.1.1.3 when you attempt the connection ?

    - Press ThinkVantage, Press F1, Press Fn+F1
    - Power off, unplug AC, unplug battery, wait 15 miniute, try all again
    - Try to update BIOS again

    That is really weird.
When you are in Windows, can you test and see if the F1 key is working? If it is working. Shut down the laptop then boot it back up. At the Thinkpad screen, keep spamming the F1 key and see if you are able to boot into BIOS.

For access over VPN you need:
    management-access inside
    and don't forget:
    ssh inside
    http inside
I'm guessing you forgot to grant ASDM (http/https) access to the IP addresses used by the VPN?  Can you SSH?  If not, that is your problem to solve first.
