Cant access facebook using my mac

i moved to China for 3 months in september 2012 and when i returned to the UK in jan 2013 my computer was unable to access facebook. I recently purchased a new macbook and bought the one to one data transfer software. Before i tranferred the data i was able to access facebook fine on the new mac but ever since the data transfer i can no longer get onto facebook and am experiencing the same problem as i had on the old mac. I have reset safari HELP!

Make sure your Date/Time and Time Zone are correct.

Aha, a PPC Mac!
The last really supported Flash for PPC was 10.1.102.64, but if it's for like Facebook or such, people have been fooling FB to think they have a later version installed.

Just updated my 2010 iMac to 10.8.2, purely to use iCloud calendar syncing with my iPhone and wife's iPad, now cannot access Facebook site at all from Safari on the Mac (...Safari cannot access the server www.facebook.com...), dont even get as far as logging in. Followed a few previous threads and tried reset Safari, delete cookies, clear caches but no good. Only Facebook is affected, but we can still access the accounts from our phones/ipads. Any help please?? Thanks

Try using another browser.

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

I cannot access facebook on my macbook. After using safari, firefox and opera, still doesnt work. I reset safari, empty cache, reboot macbook but it would just bring me to log in page then after putting my username and password and hitting enter, it would not show anything. Please help. It was fine for years, it's just this morning I cannot access it anymore!

Try clearing your cache in Safari, go into your preferences then click on the privacy icon then click on Remove all Website Data. then try to access the sites.

Will Remote Desktop allow me to access and use my Mac Pro 2009 from my MacBook Pro 2011?

Own a small business, have two locations, I need to use Windows via Parallels on my Mac Pro 2009, but I am forced to spend most of my time at the other location which has a MacBook Pro 2011. Will Remote Desktop allow me to use the MacBook Pro 2011 to access the Mac Pro and use Windows via Parallels?

If all you need is to be able to control another computer, then ARD would be overkill. If the systems have Mac OS X 10.5 or later you can use the Screen Sharing built into those versions of Mac OS X to control the system.
Another and perhaps easier option is to use a service such as LogMeIn or TeamViewer. Either option may be significantly easier than dealing with screen sharing or ARD.
You'll want to confirm that any solution you choose will work with Parallels, of course. I haven't tried remote control of a system to use Parallals, so there may be special considerations there. If you don't get useful comments here, you might try Parallels' forums.

Installing a Linksys Access Point using a Mac

I apologize for this topic being irrelevant to AirPort, but I am hoping someone can help...
I am a University student and trying to help my friend who lives in a dorm. At school there is a high speed local network and internet connection (I'm guessing massive amounts of T1s or T3s)... Left behind by a previous roommate is a Linksys WAP54G v2.0 which is a wireless access point NOT a router...I am told that it used to work, but one day stopped...
I have already reset the WAP (as they call it not to be confused with cell phone browsers)...now the name displays the default "linksys" title. I plug it in to the ethernet jack and "You are not connected to the internet" according to Safari...
my question is... how do you access the settings for the WAP.... on MY DSL modem and gateway, for example i type in 192.168.0.1 and I have also set this up with Mac OS X for a gaming adapter but i simply cannot figure out the IP address for this router and the Network Preferences to use when I plug the Linksys WAP into my computer. (I tried the default suggestion in my browser 192.168.1.245 but no luck, do I need to enter this in the Network panel of my System Prefs?)
I do not have the original setup and install CD available, and if I did, we only use Mac OS X... so does anyone have any ideas? Also... is it even possible to use a "Wireless Access Point" as opposed to a Router on a University campus (High speed LAN connected to WAN)? I don't know how it works with the DHCP... I would like for 3 people to be able to use this access point simultaneously.

It may be dead so this may be futile...
From the Linksys product page it doesn't seem to support web configuration and the only way is with their PC utility. That means if you don't have VirtualPC you will need a PC.

The WAP will need to get an IP from the campus DHCP bridged to your laptop and they probably changed the system to not allow wireless bridges. Does the laptop work when plugged into the dorm jack with ethernet? Did you have to register the MAC address? Can you register the MAC address of the wireless card instead of the ethernet?

It all depends on their policy. Have you asked them?

Usually they allow one MAC address per ethernet jack and keep control of it so you can't share it! Depending on their sophistication they may also detect rogue access points. If not you might be able to use a wireless router like an Airport Express. Ask them. There may be a hackers way around but that answer won't be found here.

Cant access movies on my mac with my iPad!

So I have movies that I have purchased off of iTunes stored on my mac, they are actually on an external hard-drive, but I can no longer access my stored movies from my iPad. the message "request timed out" appears after a short while of waiting. please help!

How are you trying to "access" these? Do you mean sync or are you doing something fancy with wi-fi and Home Sharing?

2. Reinstalling Lion OSX 10.8

4. Rebooting my mac

From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If any proxy options are selected, deselect them. You don’t need to change the bypass or FTP settings. Click OK and then Apply. Test. The result may be that you can't connect to any web server, so be prepared to restore the previous settings if that happens.

Flash CS6 :: Cant access fonts installed on Mac

Text Tool does NOT provide me all the Fonts(typefaces) installed on my mac. Particularly i would like to use certain Fonts, so any solution leading to just bringing individual fonts would be good enough for now.
What i did so far:
I use Font Book to manage my fonts, the font I have in mind is not damaged and there are no conflicts. they show up in all other Adobe software. I tried to clear my Font Cache and it didnt work (as suggested in few discussions).

so when you rebooted from Single User mode, it didn’t show the Welcome video again? It went straight to the login screen, as it was behaving previously?
If it didn’t ask you for a password in either Step 1 or Step 2 above, then you don’t have FileVault activated. Here’s another possibility to try in Lion:
Boot into Single User mode again.
Enter the following commands, one per line:
/sbin/fsck -fy
/sbin/mount -uw /
/bin/launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.opendirectoryd.plist
/bin/ls /Users
/usr/bin/dscl . passwd /Users/username new_password
/sbin/reboot
The ls command will list all of the “home” folders for users on your computer, along with a Shared folder which isn’t associated with any user. If the only folder that that ls command shows is the Shared folder, then something has caused your original user to be deleted; skip the dscl command and just give the reboot command, skipping Steps 3 and 4.
Presuming that your original username is shown by the ls command, the dscl command will replace the original password for username with whichever new_password you choose. You might get a message from the dscl command about a file or directory not being found — that message can be ignored.
After rebooting, see if you can login normally as the username with the new_password.
If only the Shared folder was shown by the ls command in Step 2, then let me know in your reply and I’ll provide the commands that would be needed to create a new user in Single User mode.
