Cant access my usb hdd through finder.

i connected an stech simple drive to my airport extreme usb port but i can't find it in finder. at the utility window of airport extreme i can visualize it at disk folder. if i plug it directly into my macbook, i can use it without issues but using airport extreme, it's not possible.. what am i doing wrong?

There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
To upload to MySpace or any site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services.
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves. If you're willing to risk database corruption, you can restore the older functionality simply by right clicking on the iPhoto Library and choosing 'Show Package Contents'. Then simply make an alias to the folders you require and put that alias on the desktop or where ever you want it. Be aware though, that this is a hack and not supported by Apple.

Cannot access photos in iPhoto through Finder

I recently upgraded to iLife 8 from 7 because of a hard drive crash.
If I open Finder to look for a picture, and I click on the iPhoto Library, it opens up iPhoto, instead of showing me the folder in Finder.
Also, if I want to upload a picture file from my iPhoto library to the internet (i.e. an e-mail attachment), I can't, because I can't click on the iPhoto Library folder to open up the pictures.
Any ideas on how to change this? In the previous version I had, it would open like any other folder with files in it. That's what I want to happen again.

With iPhoto 7 (iLife 08) the old iPhoto Library Folder is now a Unix Style Package File. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
It has never been the correct way to access the files by rooting through the iPhoto Library Folder - there are no user serviceable parts there and any time you do you risk damaging the Library.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
*For Users of 10.5 Only*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.

Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
Other options include:
1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.

All of the above are faster and safer than rooting through the folders.

Can I access multiple USB printers through Time Capsule?

I just bought a Time Capsule, and I'm loving having my USB laser printer available on my Airport Network. In fact, I'm loving it so much that I'd like to have my USB photo printer available as well.
Is it possible to have multiple printers available through the Time Capsule connected to a USB hub?

HT1660 i cant access songs on ipod through itunes

I am attempting to transfer songs from my iPod Touch to my iPod but for some reason, I can't seem to access my iPod through iTunes as it appears to be "locked". I can't even play any songs on the playlist/library through iTunes. Is there anything that I can do to make this work?
Also, what is the best way to transfer my music from one device to another?

Okay, i was able to access the iPod but still trying to figure out how to transfer/copy music from my iPod Touch to the iPod...any suggestions?

Cannot access external USB HDD with ThinkPad e145

I just purchased an E-145 without an OS installed and I am having a problem getting the BIOS to recognize an attached usb drive. None of the ports work with an external HDD. I can boot with flash drives from all ports, but the external drive is not recognized. The BIOS (2.02) is set to allow both legacy (first) and UEFI boots. The same drive works without problems on my T500. Anyone else seeing problems like this?
Also, in the notes for updating the BIOS, I see the following:
- Lenovo recommends to install the USB 3.0 driver for Windows (Version 1.4.0.225 or higher) prior to updating the BIOS. Because the BIOS requires the modification in the USB 3.0 driver to fix USB 3.0 related issues.
What update is this supposed to be? There is no link or further information. I have no idea what to do with that recomendation. I see this recommendation on a lot of the BIOS readme files for other ThinkPads, so it looks like a blanket statement that is IMO of no help to the customer.

I wonder what the chipset in the case is. If I remember, the Oxford chipset may have a problem with Mac.
If you have a Windows box there, I'd suggest plugging it in and letting Windows format the disk. Then see if it works on Mac.

Cant access my Firewire hdd

Just did a clean install of snow leopard. used time machine to backup my old system and now when i plug in the external drive it shows a lock on it in desktop. I've tried changing permissions but they revert back to custom.Ive tried the terminal app but cant tell if im entering things right with spaces etc.
The external hd is actually the original hd in my mbp i upgraded the hd to a larger on when i bought it. Any help would be apprecaited the name on my external hd is Macintosh HD

Finder crashes when I try to open my external USB HDD

Hello all. I have been experiencing issues with my external USB HDD (WD Passport) and my Macbook Pro (Summer 2012) for some time. It looks that the HDD shows up on the desktop when I connect it but when I try to open the My Passport icon on the desktop Finder crashes. Finder works OK generally and I can see everything (even the Passport listed) but I cannot access the Passport HDD contents.
I have tried accessing it via terminal and managed to view the Passport contents ok (ls -ltr etc)
I have tried repairing the disk but the issue remains.
I have connected Passport to a Windows 7 PC and it works OK. I have even tried repairing it on a Windows PC but it has not helped.
Ejecting, rebooting etc does not solve the issue
Every time the issue occurs I see a PM Report Crash for Finder

Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

Welcome to the Apple community.
Unfortunately, you cannot do very much with your phone unless you get assistance from the previous owner, they should either provide you with the password to unlock it or remove their account from the phone entirely remotely through iCloud.com > Find My Phone.

Copied files to USB HDD - now can't find them!

I had to reinstall my wife's macbook so I backed up all her files to a USB HDD formatted as MS-DOS (FAT) [according to disk utility]
I then reinstalled and tried to find the files which do not show up on the USB HDD (shoulda checked!)
I've seen posts alluding to having the drive formatted Journalised but they all refer to having done that FIRST.
Are my files history? Is there any way to get them back? Help!

I must admit, I didn't pay too much attention when importing this "test"
group of photos to LR4, therein lies my problem. Now that I look at the
import settings that were used:
1. Files were not added or copied, they were "moved" to a new location and
also renamed.
2. Files were renamed starting with "264" using my regular import template.
Listed below are the first 10 photos with their original LR3 and he
changed LR4 names.
1201_001 changed to 1201_264-2
1201_002 changed to 1201_265-2
1201_003 changed to 1201_266-2
1201_004 changed to 1201_267-2
1201_005-Edit-Edit changed to 1201_268-2
1201_005-Edit changed to 1201_269-2

I have a back up of my images on an EHD from several days ago which has the
original file names, but this backup only has 203 of the 268 images I
imported yesterday and are renamed.

okay the exact message is" Windows cannot find 'C:\Program Files\Mozilla Forefox 4.0 Beta 1\firefox.exe'. make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.
Nothing happens after i install is the "Launch Firefox now" checkbox set, the same message comes up.
i usually start firefox from the shortcut i have on my desktop but when this happened i thought that the shortcut is the problem, but i went to the Mozilla firefox folder and tried it from there, but it didnt work. i also tried downloading different versions of firefox but that didnt work either.

Access the local Mac's Time Machine without its external USB HDD?

Hello.
Is it possible to access the local Mac's Time Machine without its external USB HDD? Or is the external backup HDD required? This is assuming Mac OS X 10.8.5. I am not sure if the newer versions can do it.
