Cant access Oracle XE Home page

I am a new user trying to learn oracle and, having downloaded XE, find I cannot access the Homepage. Help please!

Make sure to start the database, using the program links provided during installation. Then use the link that says: "Go to Database Home Page"
Earl
Oh, BTW, there is an Oracle XE specific forum you'll probably want to look into. You'll find a registration link was placed in your program links when you did your XE installation.

  • Newbie can't go to Oracle XE Home Page today (but accessed it yesterday)

    Hi there,
Yesterday I installed Oracle XE 10g on my PC. I could see the home page and then log into the system.
Today I can't see the homepage anymore:
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
    Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
    The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.
    What you can try:
    Diagnose Connection Problems
    More information
This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:
    Internet connectivity has been lost.
    The website is temporarily unavailable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain.
If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section.
    For offline users
You can still view subscribed feeds and some recently viewed webpages.
    To view subscribed feeds
Click the Favorites Center button , click Feeds, and then click the feed you want to view.
To view recently visited webpages (might not work on all pages)
Click Tools , and then click Work Offline.
Click the Favorites Center button , click History, and then click the page you want to view.
    I'm using:
    - Windows XP SP2
    - IE 7
    - The homepage address is http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex
    - THe oracle services that I've identified in my PC are
    OracleJobSchedulerXE (Disabled)
    OracleMTSRecoveryService (MAnual)
    OracleServiceXE (Started / Automatic)
    OracleXEClrAgent (Manual)
    OracleXETNSListener (Started / Automatic)
I don't have any problems in accessing the internet. Just the Oracle XE pages. I would appreciate if someone gives me some clues of where to investigate and understand what's going on. Any link to a helpful doc is very appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Miguel

Billy, I followed your instructions to the best of my abilities the result is below. I continue not to access Oracle XE Home Page.

  • Urgent: cannot access the portal home page because of problem’s language

I have installed Oracle 9iAS, including infrastructure with language FRENCH_FRANCE.WE8ISO8859P15 and portal and wireless type I don’t have problem for access to http://machine:1810 and http://machine:7779 in French.
But when I access this url: http://machine:7779/pls/portal, there is a error : java.io.IOException:
    Unsupported character encoding: "ISO-8859-15"

When I install infrastructure, I select FRENCH_FRANCE.WE8ISO8859P15. I check in sql*plus in the v$NLS_PARAMETERS and NLS_LANGUAGE is FRENCH, NLS_TERRITORY is FRANCE, NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE is FRENCH and NLS_CHARACTERSET is WE8ISO8859P15. It seems all well.
But I check in the Windows registry, I find that NLS_LANG is FRENCH_FRANCE.WE8MSWIN1252 under under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ORACLE/HOME1 and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ORACLE/HOME2. Then I correct in FRENCH_FRANCE.WE8ISO8859P15 in the Windows registry.
Also I check in EM web_site in
To check the DAD settings, in my EM Console, I go to Http Server/PLSQL Properties/DAD status. I correct NLS Language with FRENCH_FRANCE.WE8ISO8859P15.
    Also I correct langinst.cmd under OH/portal/admin/plsql to replace WE8MSWIN1252 with WE8ISO8859P15
    case f:
    setenv NLS_LANG FRENCH_FRANCE.WE8ISO8859P15
    breaksw
    case frc:
    setenv NLS_LANG FRENCH_FRANCE. WE8ISO8859P15
    breaksw
All that I do is not useful for access the portal home page, thers is always the error java.io.IOException: Unsupported character encoding: "ISO-8859-15"
I don’t have problem in language English. My page portal is running well in a another machine where I install Oracle9iAS in English, but I have always problem in the machine where I install Oracle9iAS in French.
I find there are lots of this problem in this forum, but there isn’t a answer. So thanks for anyone to resolve this problem.

    Hello Michael,
    Thanks for your help !
I think that the problem is in the PlsqlNLSLanguage. But I couldn’t check it now with the version French WE8ISO8859P15, because today I’ve installed oracle902 AS with WE8MSWIN1252 and it functions well. I find the PlsqlNLSLanguage in my $ORACLE_HOME_INFRA/Apache/mod_plsql/conf/dads.conf is FRENCH_FRANCE.WE8MSWIN1252
, and in my $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/mod_plsql/conf/dads.conf is AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252. But I don’t understand why it doesn’t create the language’s problem.
I will try again in another machine with WE8ISO8859P15.

  • Access to ITunes Home Page and Music Stores in Other Countries

In the past two days, I haven't been able to access any
other ITunes music store except the US and only when I press
music and not the little house (home) symbol.
As I am an independent musician and my tracks sell on ITunes
in US and abroad, I've been checking on how my tracks,
particularly, Senza Fine, are doing in other countries
(which top songs are currently posted on my Itunes webpage).
But in two days I can't seem to access the home pages of
countries other than the US, and I'm wondering why the
"Could Not complete the Music Store Request--the Store
may be busy" BOX keeps coming up. My internet connections
    seem fine.
Other than that, I think ITunes is the best. I'm also happy to see the Starbucks connection and availablity of dvd's.
    Thank you for any input,

I just fixed it, thanks to another poster's info. I had to

access to all files, all countries.

If some people cant help I'll really appreciate.

What I did was a hard reset... (hold reset for 10 or 30 seconds then while holding, unplug unit then release reset button. After 10 more seconds, plug unit back in.)
Between that and using the TFTP program, I was able to get back into my management screen. You will have to reconfigure your router after that. Be sure, if you have a dedicated ip on your computer, you temporarily set it to obtain everything automatically incase your set ip doesnt correspond to the default settings for your router. Then once everything is back up, you can change you ip settings on your PC back to what you had, if any.

  • What happened to my Oracle Database Home Page ?

Everything was working fine. Suddenly, the browser can no longer connect to the Database Home Page.
What has happened. My Internet connection still works (I'm here). Nothing else was changed that I can tell.
    Please Help. Thanks.

I believe I solved the problem - although I don't know how it happened.
I went to Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services and noted that the Oracle XE components:
    OracleJobSchedulerXE
    OracleMTSREcoveryService
    OracleServiceXE
    OracleXEClrAgent
    CracleXETNSListener
were all running (except OracleJobSchedulerXE which doesnt offer a restart option).
I stopped the OracleServiceXE and restarted it. I also started the MTSRecovery Service, ClrAgen and TNSListener.
That seems to have solved the problem.
Any idea how the service got turned off?

  • Cant access Gmail or any page where i have to sign in.

Cant access Gmail or most any page where i have to sign in. Doesn't matter whether I use FireFox or Safari, I still get a message like,
    safari can't open page
safari can't open the page "https://support.Apple.com/.........because Safari can't establish a secure connection to the server "support.apple.com"
I had to use my phone to post this very message since I could not access this page on my Mac Mini .
I get similar messages when trying to check my Gmail .
This only occurs on my Mac Mini , not on my other computers that are on the same wireless network. My Dell laptop and desktop have no problem accessing mail or other sites
    thanks,
    Jeff

    I'd try this:
    1) Disable all your add-ons
    2) Delete your history and cookies
    3) do you use the password manager? If so, delete your passwords
    4) If nothing works, backup your profile (optional), and create a new one

  • Accessing the HH2 Home Page from other PCs

    My computer systems are
Main    Win XP Pro SP3, Ethernet cable to HH 2 Type B
Standby    Win 98SE, USB cable to HH 2 Type B
Laptop    Win 98SE wireless link to HH 2 Type B
Just a minor query -  when I set up the HH 2 this was done with the main PC.  There is no difficult accessing the HH to make changes via Firefox, such as logically disconnecting on the Home Page button each night before switching everything off.
I switched the standby machine on today first and tried to access the HH using as usual 192.168.1.254 in order to logically connect the broad band.    This failed to open the Home page.    In order to logically connect I had to switch the Win XP machine on and connect the broadband as normal.   Having done this I switched back to the Win 98 machine and found I could now access the Home Page.
I have checked the User Guide, but there is nothing to clarify why this occurs.    Is there some logic in the HH which only allows the Ethernet connected computer to control the HH, or the one which initially set  it up?   Or is it as simple as the machine which last logically disconnected the HH must be used to switch it on again, at which point one of the other machines can be used to disconnect/connect?
Sometimes I wish to use the laptop without the main desktop machine being switched on.   Will the logic in the HH which allow me to connect/disconnect through the wireless link?
    Rodney Fry

Thank you, imjolly,  for your comment.   As you suggested I activated the broad band link using the Win XP machine and returning to the Win 98 machine the HH is visible.   I tried switching off with this PC when I finished and it disconnected properly.
Today I tried the laptop using Firefox, which has a Binatone WL1000 22mbps PCMCIA wireless card and also a USB2.0  PQI NLWL-USB01 Wireless LAN Adapter IEEE 802.11g (not used together!).   With the USB Adapter again the radio link of the HH2 is visible, but it is not accessible.   Rebooting with the WL1000 wireless card inserted  the HH2 was showing immediately in Firefox, but with no broadband connection symbol.   Typing in the usual URL  192.168.1.254, the Home Page was then shown and I was able to make the logical connection and everything worked.
Clearly as you had surmised a USB link, wireless or wired, does not operate until the HH2 has been activated by other means.
