Cant Acess my Mac file while using Win7 by Boot Camp

Hi All,
I installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my iMac 20" last night and it works just fine. But I have only one problem when trying to enter the "Macintosh HD" partition to get my files which stored in Mac OS drive I found nothing !
All what I can get is empty folders and unknown files (think its system files).
So please can you let me now if There is any way to access my files without copying them again to the Windows 7 partition ?
Thanks & Regards,
UAEonline

THIS!
I installed Windows 7 before the Boot Camp 3.1 update and have empty user folders, while I can see heaps of other files, e.g. my applications folder and lots of system data.
I only use my Windows 7 partition to run some music software but while I'm storing all my music in my user folder on OS-X it's frustrating not being able to access it.
If I deleted my Windows Partition, made sure I had Boot Camp 3.1, and then re-installed Windows 7, would this fix this problem?
This is caused by X11 in OS X. It hides the Users files for some reason.
Boot to OS X, enable viewing of hidden files and folders via an application like OnyX or otherwise, go to your "Username" folder. It's been a long while since I've had to deal with this, so I can't quite recall the file name, but I believe it's something with the word "authorize" or "authorization" in it, perhaps it even has "x11" in the title or something. If there's a file with something like that in it, delete it. If there's no file like that in there, get back to me with a list of the files you see inside your "Username" folder.

  • Type of error in the log file while using using call transaction mode u2018Eu2019

    Hi Gurus,
Please Answer for this qusetion urgently
what type of error exactly  you will be seeing in the log file while using call transaction mode u2018Eu2019?
    Thanks/
    Radha.

    Hi,
    Can you be clear.
In call transaction , no error logs  are created, you have to handle the errors explicitly using the structure BDCMSGCOLL.
Whenever you use E mode then if the transaction encounters any of the errors i.e. data type mismatching or invalid values etc, it will stop at that screen.
You can handle the errors in call transaction in the following method.
create a table using the structure BDCMSGCOLL.
    then
    loop at ......
          CALL TRANSACTION 'XK01' USING I_BDCDATA MODE 'N' UPDATE 'S' MESSAGES INTO I_MESGTAB.
    endloop.
SORT I_MESGTAB BY MSGID MSGV1 ASCENDING.
      DELETE ADJACENT DUPLICATES FROM I_MESGTAB.
      LOOP AT I_MESGTAB.
        CALL FUNCTION 'FORMAT_MESSAGE'
          EXPORTING
            ID   = I_MESGTAB-MSGID
            LANG = I_MESGTAB-MSGSPRA

you can't add or mofidy partition numbers. especially not if and once you have windows installed.
boot from Windows 7 DVD afterwards
but first you have to tell us and Christopher what and how you partitioned your system.

    Paragon CampTune
Paragon CampTune is a commercial product that is designed expressly for this task. http://www.paragon-software.com/home/camptune/ It consists of a downloadable ISO that needs to be burned to a disc and booted from in order to resize the partitions costs US$19.95.
    Securing Dual-System Configuration
Imaging is still the most affordable and robust way to secure computer data. Unfortunately Mac OS X backs up only HFS+ volumes, leaving Windows with dual-system configurations unsecured. You can permanently lose all of your data unless you have a Windows-compatible backup solution.
Paragon’s CampTune and Paragon’s Drive Copy for Mac can secure the entire dual-system configuration. CampTune creates traditional images of volumes or entire hard disks, Drive Copy can copy them to other disks. In case of an emergency, you can restore the previously created image or copy all your data back to its original state.
    GParted Live
GParted Live is similar to CampTune as it is also distributed as a bootable image that needs to be copied to a CD/DVD or USB flash drive. As free and open source software, distributed under the GPL, it will always be available free. Since it has more functions than CampTune, it may be harder for folks who are not as experienced with partitioning hard drives. http://gparted.sourceforge.net/
    iPartition
Coriolis Systems' iPartition is a £29.95 ($44.95 US) utility that runs in Mac OS X and allows resizing of all of the relevant partition formats, including HFS+, FAT32, and NTFS. It provides a Mac-oriented user interface that may be easier to manage than some of the free utilities. As it is not capable of resizing the boot disk, it requires a bootable external disk or a boot DVD. (A tool to create a boot DVD is included.)
    Paragon Partition Manager
From the makes of CampTune is a commercial tool that is similar in functionality to GParted Live, but has a more polished/friendly user interface than GParted Live. Previously only the US$79.95 Professional version supported all the features required for this, but as of version 11 the US$39.95 Personal version has also been reported to work. http://www.paragon-software.com/home/pm-personal/
    Winclone/Disk Utility
Winclone is a free tool for creating and restoring backup images of your Windows partition. One of its key features is that it can restore to a larger partition than the one the image was created from.
NOTE: Winclone has been discontinued, but for now remains available and capable of completing these tasks (including creating and restoring Windows 7 images).
Winclone updated to support Lion Winclone updates and download
Disk Utility can resize HFS+ (Mac OS) partitions, but is currently incapable of resizing NTFS partitions, so you could use it to reduce the size of the HFS+ partition and create a new larger placeholder MS-DOS (FAT) partition
    The full process would be:
    Backup Windows partition with Winclone.
(if the new Windows partition is smaller than the old one make sure you set the preferences in Winclone to save the image as an uncompressed dmg)
    Delete old Windows partition
    Resize current Mac Partition
Create new Windows partition as MS-DOS (FAT) in free space after Mac OS partition.
(If the new Windows partition is smaller than the old one an additional step is required: shrink the filesystem on the image by selecting Tools->Shrink Windows (NTFS) Filesystem)
Reboot your computer for the new Windows partition to mount properly (winclone may not restore if you don't reboot)
Restore Winclone partition over new Windows partition
An alternate Winclone based process is described in the External Guides section
    Native OS utilities
MR user Kazyua reports that you can use the disk management utilities provided with the current operating systems if you want to do it manually. Windows 7 and OS X both have partition resizing functions built in. In OS X, open Disk Utility and manually shrink the mac HFS+ partition by dragging the lower right corner. Then in windows go to the start menu and type "disk management" into the search box then hit enter. You should get an overview of the drives you have and the individual partitions. Right-clicking on the partition gives an "Extend Volume" option. The Windows NTFS volume should then be extended into the free space you created with Disk Utility. This method has not worked for other users, so try at your own risk.

while i was running boot camp to install windows 7 i had to cancel operation. Now my mac comes up black screen with a curser at top

First of all, start your Mac with the Alt key pressed until the boot manager apears. If your keyboard is wireless probably you should press the power button at the same time you start the Mac.
After, go to Bootcamp Assistant and remove the windows partition and do all the process again.
Remember to remove all the USB/Firewire/Thunderbolt devices that are attached to the Mac during the windows installation.
Once windows boots for first time, install windows support software with all the drivers.
IMPORTANT: If the windows partition doesn't boot correctly (Black screen with white blinking cursos at the left top corner) do this steps to boot windows:
1- Start the Windows Installation DVD at system start.
2- Click on Repair System, not install.
    3- Select Command Prompt
4- Run these 3 commands: (Press enter for each command)
         Bootrec.exe /FixMbr
         Bootrec.exe /FixBoot
          Bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd
5- Exit command line (type exit)
    6- Click on Restart button.
7- Boot the Mac and you will see that It automaticaly loads windows
    Tell us how it goes!!
PS: Sorry for my bad english!!!

  • How do I get Word for Mac to quit showing up in Boot Camp?

We recently bought a Mac computer and installed Word for Mac on it. After some trial and error, decided for work purposes, unfortunately, it works out better to just use Windows in Boot Camp.
We installed MS Word 2010 in Boot Camp, but now some documents are in Word (Mac) format and others are in MS Word 2010 format. When I go to open a document, I have to tell it which one to open it with, despite choosing MS Word 2010 as the default.
Is there a way to get the Mac version out of boot camp? Do I have to completely uninstall it?
    Thank you in advance.

There is no Mac version of Office running in Boot Camp or vice-versa. So I don't quite know what you are asking. You can open any Office for OS X document in Office for Windows, then resave it as a standard Office for Windows document.

using GUI_DOWNLOAD you can't change the data in excel sheet...if you want to do the things you need to use OLE concpets for downloading of data to Excel sheet wherein you can do most of the options excel can handle..

I want to use the include tag to include a XSL Stylesheet to my RTF while using the API
If I run the report locally I use:
    <?import:file:///C:/temp/htmlmarkup.xsl?>
If I run the report on APPS I use:

But what do I refer if I am in the context of the APIs? My XSL file is in the java-resource-tree available under:

But I allways get XML-22002: (Fatal Error) Error while processing include XSL file
    Any hints for me?

No, you cannot do this. Using the Acrobat SDK a programmer can combine PDF files using OLE.

  • Enabling 'File Sharing' on my Mac allows my Macintosh HD and Boot Camp to be visible and writeable on my home network. How can I turn this off, so that only folders/files I share are visible?

So I've been trying recently to get my MacBook Pro connected to my home network. There are two other desktop computers in the household, and I'd like to be able to connect to their shared folders, as well as allow them to access shared items on my MacBook Pro. I think I've read all the documentation regarding this issue on the Apple Support site. I do have administrator privileges on my Windows 7 computer.
Issues connecting from PC to Mac
A couple of days ago, I enabled SMB File Sharing on my MacBook Pro, and in addition to the already shared Public folder, I added another that resides within Movies. Then I went to my Windows 7 PC, and under Network, my MacBook Pro appeared. I double-clicked on it (I cannot remember if I was asked to enter my Mac user credentials; I think I was), and I saw the two shared folders: Public, and the Movies folder.
However, today I went back to my Windows 7 PC, accessed my MacBook Pro, entered username and password, and in addition to the two shared folders, both my Macintosh HD and Boot Camp HD appeared as shared folders, both fully writable. However, under File Sharing on my MacBook Pro, only the two shared folders (Public and Movies) appear in the Shared Folders list.
How can I prevent my Mac from sharing my entire partitions? How can I configure it so thatonly the folders I select to share are actually broadcasted across my home network? Also, it would be ideal if I can access these shared folders from my Windows 7 PC without having to enter my Mac user credentials.
Issues connecting from Mac to PC
I have a user account on my Windows 7 PC with the same name as my Mac, but with no password. When I try to connect to my PC from my Mac, the enter credentials dialogue pops up and asks me to either log-in as a Guest, or enter my User credentials.
The Guest account is disabled on Windows 7, and I assume that's I'm not able to log in as Guest (if it is possible to connect as a Guest without having to enable the Guest account on Windows 7, please let me know). Leaving the password field blank on the enter credentials dialogue tells me that it's incorrect (even though I don't have a password on my Windows 7 account).
Is it possible to access shared files and folders on my Windows 7 PC from my Mac without having to create a password protected account? If not, is it possible to create a password for the sake of accessing shared files, while not requiring it to log in to the account? I'm sorry, I know this last bit more falls under the category of Windows Help.

Sharing files from a Mac to a PC is a different animal.  I've never done it myself so you may want to repost a separate question on this topic.
From what I understand, in order to access files from a Mac on a PC, you must log in using your Mac username and password (no anonymous file sharing).  Since this is not very desirable from a security standpoint, Apple recommends creating a separate user account on the Mac that is dedicated to file sharing.  Give that account access only to the files/folders you want to share.  You can then give that user account name and password to your Windows users.

  • I'm desperately needing advice to a common question.  I use Quicken and love it.  But the Mac version is not as great as the PC.   Has anyone installed it by segmenting their Mac with Parallels or Fusion or Boot camp.  If so, which one do you recommend.

I'm desperately needing advice.  New Mac.   Used Quicken on my PC.  Researched all software for Financial programs and Quicken is still the most recommended.   I want to use Quicken on my Mac.  The Mac version is not highly rated so I would need to partition my Mac.   Has anyone done this for their quicken program and if so, which partitioning program did you use - Parallels, Fusion ware or Boot camp?
    Thx

Thanks.  Hadn't heard of it. ?  Is there any concern installing this free program on my Mac.    Have you used it?  Apart from being free is there any other advantage of Parallels and VMfusion. ?
Virtual Box is safe and well developed, it offers similar or identical features to the paid competition, it may be a little less polished but that's all.
Download and try it out, nothing to lose (except time).

  • Lost Mac OS X partition after failed Boot Camp attempt

Hi I have a friend who has the newest iMac and he attempted to install Windows XP through Boot Camp. He did the partitioning and installation, but when he booted he found out that WinXP has actually NOT been installed at all, while the installer said clearly that installation has finished.
Not only did he not have Windows to dual-boot into, he also seems to have lost his Mac partition! I tried to repair his disk using Disk Utility, but there's absolutely NOTHING showing that is available for repair.
This has haunted ME ever since because I wished to install Windows XP Professional through Boot Camp on my MacBook Pro now, but unlike my friend who did the Boot Camping while his Mac was brand-new and has no fear of reinstallation, I have like 100GB worth of beloved data which even my external harddrive does not have the space to fully back them up. I don't want to risk losing my own Mac partition in the process, so could anyone sort of tell me why do people lose their Mac partitions during Boot Camping?!
    Thanks.

Some times the only partition people seem to see is their OS X partition, not the FAT one that BootCamp Assistant should have created.
End result is the partition tables and user partitions are shot and support for XP's Master Boot Record is gone (Vista is happy with GPL and seems safer to me in dozen installs).
Backup. Don't do anything without one. TimeMachine AND a bootable clone (SuperDuper, Carbon Copy Cloner, even Apple Disk Utility's Restore). In BootCamp Assistant, there is an option to view, save or print out the pdf manual. Worth the read.
Maybe more online help? or even an on-screen "Do you want TimeMachine to update your files first before proceeding?" Always have two backups, one that is off-line. Use WinClone to backup FAT and NTFS. http://www.twocanoes.com
500GB drives and FW/USB cases are cheap enough and good investment.
    http://www.macsales.com/firewire/
Upgrading from Tiger to Leopard, and from BootCamp 1.x, seemed to mangle more than a few. Why people don't see their BootCamp partition and only 130GB or something designated for OS X? no idea.
And a few tried to install and wiped out small 128 MB "EFI" partitions that need to be before and after each user partition.

  • Mac Notebook - Install Windows 7 with Boot Camp

The DVD drive is broken so I am not able to install Windows 7 using boot camp.  I created a few bootable Windows 7 USB drives and while the Mac is reading the drive, when I attempt have boot camp use this flash drive to install Windows 7, it keeps giving me an error that the Windows 7 CD is not in the DVD drive.  It's looking for the Windows 7 installation CD in the DVD drive.
How do I get around this?  I think I created the bootable USB drvie with Windows 7 correctly but it's still not working.  Are there other workarounds I can do such as download the ISO file to the Mac's desktop and use boot camp to install Windows?
    Thanks.

You didn't mention which OS X version you have. Not every Mac or every version of OS X or every version of Boot Camp supports installing every version of Windows from an ISO image.
Boot Camp 5.1: Frequently asked questions - Apple Support
Depending upon the age and parts availability of your Mac, it might be less expensive to have it repaired, or to purchase an external DVD drive. No guarantee that Boot Camp will 'see' the external DVD, with the internal DVD still connected, however.
If Boot Camp on your Mac does not support an ISO image, and your Mac DOES support the minimum requirements to run a recent version of Parallels (7 or newer), Parallels is capable of installing a Windows virtual machine from a Windows ISO image.  Windows performance under Boot Camp is likely much better than Windows running as a virtual machine under Parallels and OS X. The most recent version of Parallels is always available for a short-duration free trial: http://www.parallels.com You still need a valid Windows license to complete even a trial installation. Older versions of Parallels (prior to version 9) will not run under OS X 10.10 Yosemite. Parallels needs to be set to look for the correct ISO image location, rather than a DVD.

  • Missing files on HFS drive in Boot Camp 3.0

I have an external drive formatted with HFS. When I look at the contents of that drive while in Windows XP in Boot Camp 3.0 I noticed that some of the files are missing. If I log back into Snow Leopard the files are still there. I have tried deleting the "missing" file and copying it back, but the same problem persists or strangely another file in the same folder will go missing when I look for it in Boot Camp. Is there a bug in the HFS driver for Boot Camp or is there some sort of weird behavior of HFS I don't know about? This isn't a one off thing either, this is happening in multiple folders on the drive.
    Thanks.

I have begun to experience a similar issue on an external hard drive. The drive has 3 partitions (2 Journaled, 1 NTFS). I access the HFS/journaled partitions from a Boot Camp installation (slipstreamed Windows XP SP2).
Certain files do not appear in the Windows Explorer, though they do appear in Mac OS Finder. Same as <ditogi>, I copied and replaced, renamed and so on - the content is apparently unharmed. I also adjusted the permissions. Nothing seems to work. Additionally, folders also seem to be missing now.
The only recent changes to the system were:
    Mac OS: Firefox 3.6.2
Windows: GlovePIE; PPJoy; Tamamy Ikesu's DUALSHOCK3 HID Minidriver.
Any pointers as to whether this is a Mac OS or Windows issue - mass storage driver, security, or services related would be helpful.

This may happen due to disk fragmentation.
You may try to use a tool like iDefrag or Disk Warrior to defrag your drive.
A 2nd option is to use a tool like CarbonCopyCloner to clone your bootdrive to an external one - erase your bootdrive - clone it back
