Cant activate iphone because of ''find my iphone''
Hello,
recently I broke my iPhone 5 so my father gave me his iPhone 4.
The problem is, that his iCloud account was registered to a non existent yahoo account.
(It was functional before, but he forgot the password and or the account probably got deleted)
Now I complety deleted everyhing on the phone via iTunes and I cant activate the iPhone because the ''search my iPhone'' option was active.
I cannot register with the apple id, because the yahoo email doesnt work and the password is forgotten.
The iphone is mine, i bought it years ago, but I do not have receipt.
How am I gonna activate the iPhone now?

He doesn't need to prove he bought the phone at this point. He couldn't do so without the receipt anyway. He needs to prove that he is the owner of the Apple Account that was used to activate Find my iPhone on the device, which turns on Activation lock.
IF you bought it directly from Apple, they may have a record of the original purchase, in which case they may reset it for you. That's a long shot, though.

That usually means the phone was hacked or jailbroken to unlock the phone and when you update the phone it locked back up again.
Only way to resolve this issue, is to find out who the orignal carrier was and have them unlock it. If you bought this from a 3rd party contact the seller and have him/her unlock it for you by contacting the phone carrier. -

Take it back to whomever you purchased it from and ask for a refund. There is no way to get past the "Activation Lock".

You can only locate, lock or erase your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely. -
I have an IPhone 4, and I wanted to reset it, but couldn't do it via computer because the "find my IPhone" was turned on. So I went to ICloud > Find My IPhone and just erased my phone from there. The was acting weird but I finally got to a black screen with the spinning circle. And it won't advance. I can't just hold the sleep button and home button down because my sleep button is broken! Any help? I have reset my phone before.

Log in to icloud.com on a web browser with your Apple ID and disable FMiP there.

Hello everyone. First of all please accept my appologies in case im posting to the wrong place. I bought an iphone 5 used, like half year ago on ebay and now it stopped turning on. I browsed for troubleshooting on expresslane and came up to the page where it offered to mail phone to apple for repair. I decided to do that but on a certain step i got a message "Sorry but we cant create a repair while Find my iPhone is active. Youll need to turn off Find My iPhone and retry this serial number." Well i knew i never turned this feature on personally, it appears that the previous owner did that and never erased this feature before selling and i never checked for that before using. I even never installed any apps of any kind. Decided to contact ebay seller to ask if they could turn the feature off. They appeared to be wholeasalers who resell used devices and never keep a record of what they buy and sell. Contacted Apple telephone support, they confirmed that the only way device could be serviced is to turn the feature off. A vicious circle. Dead end? Any thoughts?

I don't understand? You don't know who you bought it from? So, was this a purely private sale over the internet or something?
Activation lock may lead to many such scams if people insist on buying used from unknown parties. Someone steals someone else's phone, sells it online, and of course, it is blocked from being restored and activated by the original owners perfectly legitimate use of Activation Lock. -
Cant restore iphone, Turn off "find my iphone" and i have "no service"
I recently got my new iphone 5 and I installed the new IOS 7 from my PC, my iphone worked fine, with service and everything.
I restored my iphone from my old iphone 4 backup on my pc, and now I dont get a PIN code question when starting, cant turn off icloud or "find my iphone" that is required to restore my iphone to a clean slate.
Whats should i do?
I have tried following:
- Airplane mode
- Turn off and on iphone
- Turned off iphone with the dubblebutton execution
- tried turning on PIN code in the settings ( the button is all grey when I try)
- Tried restoring it from PC and on the phone itself ( requieres to turn off "find my iphone, wich i cant )Did you get this figured out? I'm having hte same issue

It could be that someone has accessed your AppleID/iCloud account with out authorization. Or it could be that you forgot to remove find my iPhone form a phone that your previously owned.
Change your Apple ID password. -

All you have to do is browse to iCloud on your computer, click devices, then the X next to your devices name. -
I misplaced my iPhone and used Find My iPhone to locate it. The map showed my home and the apparent location of the iPhone which was five miles south of my home in a heavily wooded area. It turns out that was an incorrect location as I eventually found my iPhone in my office three miles in the other direction. Can anyone provide m with an explanation for the discrepancy and inaccuracy?
