Cant add songs to itunes 11

I recently tried to drag music into itunes 11. however it is not working. i would drag the music over and itunes will show me a little window saying "adding files. processing." and then i would look for my songs and wouldnt be able to find them

Hi,
What is the source of the files? It may be that itunes has not recognised the metadata. In song view, try sorting by date added in descending order. You will be able to identify latest tracks.

  • Cant add song into iTunes, the song used to be in iTunes

hello, i used to have many song in my iTunes library and they can be played. ok, here let me define songA..songZ that are the songs in my iTunes
today, when i am listening songA, i want to listen songB, so i double click on songB in iTunes but it just response nothing and stop! i try to double click it again, still nothing happen. but when i double click on songA, it works(i can listen songA).
so i think that's something wrong with my library, i delete songB from library, then, i drag(also try add from the menu botton) songB into library again, it DOESNOT work!! i cant add songB to my library. what's the problem???
songB had already been in my iTunes for some months, i was fine and playable. but now, i cant listen it using iTunes.
songB is working fine using other mp3-player. i tried to reinstall iTunes, but it doesnt help.
there is more than one song that have the same problem! songB is just an example
hope i made the question clear
so i am looking for help.
    p.s. i am using WinXPSP2, iTunes 7.0.2.16
again, those song i cant play and add now was okay before.

I have the same problem. As soon as I edit a song's ID3 tag via windows XP, iTunes does not add the song back to my library. There is no error notification or something like that, I simply select the song through "add song to library", and than nothing happens.
The annoying thing is that I edited a lot of my music this way, and now I can't play any of these songs through itunes. This has never been a problem before, but since itunes 7 all this crap started. I have removed libray files etc., but nothing seems to help. Furthermore, all these songs still play with other media players.
Guesss we simply have to pray and hope that everything is solved with the next itunes update,

  • Cant add songs to playlist

just got a new ipod, transfered songs from old ipod to laptop, put songs onto new ipod.  Now the problem....i cant add songs to a playlist, the arrow doesnt give me the add to option and i cant drag them.....i have multiple devices , ipad, 2 iphones and now this ipod....itunes says downloading song x to match, what the heck is that and why is it taking so long?  do i have a library conflict or something?  i constantly struggle with syncing and manually manage this and that and all these songs will be deleted and synced with this library, etc....you get the picture.....can anybody give me the crash course of apple products 101? i never had any problems when i just had an ipod years ago but when we got multiple devices and accounts and cloud everything has become much more difficult.

    What sort of Playlist?
You can only drag songs into regular Playlists, but not into Smart Playlists. In the picture below, the highlighted Playlists with the "musical note on paper" are regular Playlists, into which you can add songs:
The Playlists with a "cog wheel" beside them are Smart Playlists. Songs are added to these lists according to the rules you set for that list. You cannot drag songs into them and if you try, you will see the red circle with the slash.
    Is this the problem?

  • I cant add songs to my iphone.

    Hi Guys,
I cant add songs to my iphone from itunes. The Iphone is set to manually manage music etc but when I try and drag and drop music or video it simply does not allow me to. No error message or anything. My iphone icon in the menu bar just doesnt highlight as it normally would in blue and itunes wont let me add anything. The only way I have been able to add songs is to ask itunes to show track in finder and add from there which it lets me do but means i cant add playlists and is a bit of a pain.
Running on a Mac Pro os 10.6.8, itunes 10.5.1
My iphone is a 4GS but it also did the same on my 3 GS
    A massive thanks in advance!
    Cheers
    Dave

    Very vague.
    What have you tried?
    What happened?
    Any info at all?

Since you can only sync your iPod with one computer at a time, you'll need to copy the contents currently on your iPod to your new iTunes library first.  See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different ways to accomplish this task.

  • Can't add songs to iTunes 10.4.1

Previously, I was able to add songs to iTunes by directly dragging files from any location to any iTunes playlist or the general Music section and this would automatically add the new songs to my library.
After the 10.4.1 update, I can no longer drag songs into iTunes to add to the library.
Attempting to drag and drop crashes iTunes (beach ball appears and I have to force quit).
The only way to add songs is to use the "automatically add to..." folder nested in the iTunes Media folder.
This makes adding songs a much longer process because I have to copy the files into the designated folder and wait for iTunes to automatically add them to the library.
Previously, when I was able to drag new files into a playlist and the files would be copied to the library's main directory, it made it easier to see—right away—the new files added to the library via the playlist, instead of having to deal with smart playlists.
    Does anyone have this problem?
Does anyone know how to fix this?
I have tried reinstalling iTunes already.

My problem originated from the fact that I have upgraded to LION.
My old Itunes library was still saved in a folder called previous systemd. (wel done software devellopers).
I have dived up my iTunes books and refreshed my knowledge and now in advanced settings of itunes specified the path to the library in this folder and have my whole 63 gig library back.
I have also a new program called PowerTunes and with this program I can make iTunes finding every music file or folder on my computer. So instead of me adding things in Itunes which for some reason is difficult now I let my new program find every piece of music ever installed on any dik connected to my computer.

It will only let me have songs either from my house or my work not both, if i try to drag the songs into the ipod symbol it wont let me put it in my ipod
anyone know what the problem is???

If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer (As in your case where you have one at home and one you use at work) you can change the update preference to "manually manage songs and playlists. By doing this, you can listen to your iPod at work where you may have iTunes but no songs or a different set of songs on the computer.
See these links for more detail:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Managing Your Songs Manually
    For info: iPod 101
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • New iPod touch, no longer able to add songs via iTunes

Have a new iPod touch, less than a week old. 3.1.2 OS and 9.0.2 iTunes on an iMac.
Was loading songs manually, walked away for a little while, left the iPod connected, now I cannot add songs.
I've restored the iPod, still unable to drop songs onto it from iTunes. I set it to sync checked songs, will not load that way either.
It will load apps, I reloaded the apps, but songs will not go on it. Drive isn't full, after the restore I loaded apps, about 4 gigs worth, and tried songs but nada, zip, zilch.
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

    Oddness...
Tried adding songs numerous ways, nothing. Walk away for a bit, come back, now I can add songs.
iPod gremlins? Taking it back tomorrow to see if they have any ideas...

  • Can you help me add songs from iTunes 11.0.1 to iPhone4S?

I have a new MacBook Air and am trying to add songs from it (iTunes 11.0.1) to iPhone4S.
However, drag & drop does nothing, which is what I had done on my PC to add songs previously.
Note: I specifically don't want to sync my songs/libraries.  I just want to add the new stuff I uploaed to MacBook Air iTunes to my iPhone4S.
Any thoughts/help would be GREATLY appreciated.

To be fair, not the news I was hoping to hear, but I'd prefer to hear the bad news sooner rather than after expending more time and energy on a fool's errand.
I uploaded the CDs on my MacBook Air as I'm moving everything there.
So, rather than put them on the old computer and then sync there, I'm guessing at some point I'm going to have to bite the bullet and move all my songs from PC to my Mac.
I imagine I'll have to back up on new computer and erase in the process of putting the old songs and the new on there, getting them off my new computer.
One would hope there'd be an easier and less laborious method, especially since in my established pattern of procrastination I can see me putting this off for a while.
Anyway, thanks again for the feedback.

  • Can't add song to iTunes

There is a song on my computer that I want to add to iTunes. Usually when I click on any song, it automatically adds to iTunes and plays. This song is an MPEG file. When I double click on it, iTunes pops up, but the song does not add to the list and it does not play. However it does play in Windows Media Player. I have also tried dragging the song into iTunes, but that doesn't work either.

hey! i'm having exactly the same problem!
With me it's slightly different however...
I have imported a CD a while back by U2. Now i am creating a new album called the 100 greatest guitar tracks which i've found on a website, and i have almost ALL the songs in various other albums and compilations. However, i'm trying to create a copy of one song in particular by copying it to the desktop, renaming the album on the MP3 to 100 greatest guitar tracks, then reimporting it. It will not play or be imported into iTunes!
    - i've checked and yes the file extension is '.mp3'.
    - The initial copy of the song plays fine in iTunes.
    - The song wont play in QuickTime (Error 2048: the file is not a movie file)
    - The copied song works in both WinAmp and WMP.
    - The altered album name does not appear to have changed in the mp3 on my desktop, as it still shows the old album name, not 100 greatest guitar tracks.
    - No, it's not a WMA file.
    - i've tried renaming the file extension to WMA, MPEG, AVI, and these all work with RealPlayer, WMP and all the rest. Then i tried renaming to .m4a (the extension for an apple AAC format song) and again, it just opened the iTunes window but did not play.
    - Clearly the iTunes file association is there for the mp3 file, but it just won't play it!
hope this helps you help us

  • Why is my wish list not updating when I add songs through iTunes Radio?

    Wish list is not updating.

Count me in the same boat.  I'm an iTunes Match customer.  While listening to iTunes Radio I push the star and then choose to add to wish list except it never adds.  Doing the same function on my Mac works fine.
I found a note from Apple that stated you can only add "albums" to your wish list on iOS 7, not songs.  That then begs the question....why add functionality that is purposefully intended to add songs in your own UI????

  • Cant add files to itunes library

I downloaded some songs from a website and they showed/loaded up on windows media player. I tried to add them to itunes and nothing happened. I burned them to a cd and then tried to import the cd, but it never showed up. I looked at the files and it says they're itunes music player files (.wax). How do I get them into itunes? They won't add or show up.

Not acc. You want .aac. I use EZCDripper _http://www.8to32.com/_ full version. Its been a long time but I think I got a free 30 day trial version years ago at Tucows.com. This is a site I've used for years for trial and shareware software, never got a virus. Don't know what I would do without it. Let's you try before you by.
Got off topic. This software free version is restricted in that you can only do 5 songs each time, but you can do it as many times as you need. That is of course if the 30 day free trial is still available.
    Good luck.

  • Cannot add song to itunes

I am trying to add a song to itunes that was previously in there but got corrupted so I had to delete it. When I attempt to add the song now nothing happens. I can add other songs, but not this one song. I have searched through the iTunes library and I don't see the song in there. Any idea if the library itself could be corrupted and it thinks the song is still in there?
    Thanks
    -Paul

    Hello timtime29,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
The function to quickly add to a playlist should still be an option.  Please follow the steps below to see the add to option.
Quickly add an item to a playlist
Start dragging the item (or items) you want to add.A pane with a list of playlists appears on the right.
Drag the item to a playlist in the list.
You can also move the pointer over an item, click , choose Add To, and click a playlist.
You can also create a Smart Playlist that updates automatically based on rules you choose, or a Genius playlistthat includes music in your library that’s similar to the selected song.
Set up syncing for iPod, iPhone, or iPad
