  • Curve 8530 and photos without media card?

An acquaintance replaced her Curve 8530 with a Droid and wants to get her photos off the Curve. She has never installed BB Desktop nor backed up her photos before. She claims she has no media card in it but I wonder if you can save photos without one and I'm not there to check out her phone myself right now.
So my 2 questions  are 1) If you do not add a micro-SD card, can you still take and store photos? (I wonder if she has a card and doesn't know it). And 2) If it is possible without a media card, how can she download her photos to her computer? (If it's a media card, I know what to do)
    TIA

To answer your questions, yes you can store photos without a media card.  There is a limited amount of memory available in the phone for media storage.  Without a media card, the easiest method would have been for her to email the photos to an account accessed on a PC.  Of course I am guessing that option is probably no longer available.
While I do not have a Curve 8530, I am guessing they came loaded with a micro SD card and your friend just doesn't realize it is there.  I also guess the new Droid has one that could be used to access the 8530 files if necessary.

  • Transfer Photos fm Media Card to Computer

Is there a way to transfer photos from my installed 2-gig media card to my computer, besides emailing the photos?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    Assuming you are on Windows:
Article ID: KB29523 How to manually transfer files between a BlackBerry smartphone and a Windows computer
    Otherwise, for Mac:

Another way is to simply remove your media card from your BB device and use a media card reader on your computer (assuming the card is not encrypted, of course).
Good luck and let us know!

  • Why cant i transfer photos from iphone 5c to desktop xp

After I upgraded from 3gs to 5c i can"t transfer photos to desktop xp. I plug into usb desktop port, phone ask to trust computer (which it takes several times to get trust to work), then popup window ask how i want to transfer pictures. I click microsoft wizard like always have, and another window pops up telling me it doesnt detect camera or scanner please make sure device is turned on properly.
Also when i go in throught my computer and double click digital still camera there are no folder.
    I tried updating drives. Help!

I also have a 5S which would not permit transfer of photos to Win XP after IOS 7.1 was installed. Found an easy way to solve the problem. Installing iTunes version 11.1..5.5 results in a driver (don't know the name) getting installed on XP which will then permit photos to transfer from the 5S camera roll to any XP folder of your choice. You do not need to use iTunes to do the transfer. You can connect the Apple freedom cable to a USB port on the XP machine and XP will then recognize the 5S camera roll. You can then drag and drop 5S photos anywhere on your XP computer. I have done this on two XP machines and it worked both times. Not sure why Apple does not make this more obvious. Also my experience is that any Win 7 machine can do the transfer without needing iTunes.

  • Blackberry Desktop Software doesn't recognize my .rem files on my SD media card. Cannot sync them to my Mac.

    Hi,
I'm experiencing this problem where Blackberry Desktop Software for Mac 2.3.0 (build 12)  doesn't recognize my .rem files (video and photo) on my SD media card (the Desktop Software app does show that file space on the media card is being used). Therefore, these files cannot be synced, decrypted, and viewed on my computer. I can see them on phone. I do have mass storage mode turned on and I can see the .rem files in the video and photo folders when my phone is connected to my computer. I can copy them to my Mac but since they aren't decrypted, I cannot view them.
I'm going to buy a new phone and I need to get these files off my current phone.  I have a Tour 9630 with BB  OS 5.0 bundle 1600.
I've tried backing up, reformatting the media card, wiping, and restoring but nothing has worked.
Is there any kind of utility that will let me decrypt the files on my computer? Should I try Blackberry Desktop Software for Windows?
I'm hoping someone can provide some suggestions? Thanks in advance.

    Hey jack_clarke,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Make sure mass storage mode is enabled on the BlackBerry: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB13564
If this is disabled you won't be able to access your media card from the computer.

  • Desktop Manager Won't Recognize Media Card Installed

I have installed a media card in my device.  I have changed the default storage of new pictures to the card.  I would like to move the other images from device memory to the media card, but Desktop Manager will not recognize the media card is installed.  The media card does contain images, and I have successfully emailed attachments.  How can I get Desktop Manager to recognize the media card?

    Hi there!
Here are some instructions for configuring your BB and Media Card to appear as USB drives within Windows:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=BlackBerryDesktopSoftware&thread.id=3...
The only difference might be the version of DTM to use...5.0 is the current version.

  • Uninstalling Watsapp seems to have corrupted my pics! Cant view pics on media Card...

OK, so watsapp went mental, despite doing several battery pulls it remained crazy. So, of course, the next step would be to delete and reinstall. So I deleted the app. I now find that I cannot open all the pictures on my media card :/ It takes ages to index and though the pics are definately there (file manager showing % of memory card free) I cant get to them. I cant pick up from the PC either - blackberry link isnt picking up anything on my card OR device...(however it HAS taken off 16 random pics and put into a folder in my documents; which incidentally, I cant seem to restore to my z10).
Now I know what you're thinking; memory card has somehow been corrupted right? Well...No because I can view ALL my videos, music and 352 pictures (about 510 are inaccessible). I know it cant be the card as the pictures i can see are a complete mix match of dates from 2009 to present but all randomly mixed up :/
I have re-installed watsapp and all convos have backed up...
I have the latest softwarre so its not that. I can access everything on the card from PC but cant get them over into the link :/ WHY did BB have to make it like it has? (If it aint broke dont fix it!) The software was ace, you could just drag and drop. There is no 'restore' option or anything on my BB link.
I am going to do the obvious - battery pull again. If no joy then rebook with no sim. Still no joy Reboot with no media card. I dont know what else to do.
If I format the card will I lose all the pictures on it? I cant backup to the link either - there is no option :/
    Can anyone help me? PLEASE

    Hey MissKitten,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
Just to clarify, you are not able to view the contents of the media card on your PC as well? (Not through BlackBerry Desktop Software but through My Computer).
I would suggest formatting the SD card, however formatting the SD card will erase all data.  So I would attempt to back it up if possible.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

  • BBCurve freezes w. Media Card - Photos

    Alright,
So I have denoted that the problem is deftinitely that pesky *.dat file problem that most have encountered.
The easiest solution is deleting all of the DAT files off of the media card, but as soon as the that is complete, and the Curve has a chance to scan the media card again, it generates those DAT files and screws itself up again.
Now I have seen a few people mention large photo files causing the problem. Since it is inevitably related to these bloody DAT files (RIM staff, anyway you can help us out, or what!?) has anyone been able to pinpoint what common problems cause these DAT files to act up?
I keep the same photos on the card in the same folder structure. Nothing is moving, so it has to be either a photo size or quantity of files in a folder. With that in mind, does anyone have any suggestions? What should I be looking for? I know the best solution is to just delete the media, but then why the hell did I even bother buying this media card!?
    Any help's appreciated.
    ~thanks

    Welcome to the forums Acerbius
Just a quick note: RIM does not participate directly in these forums, they are just intended for user to user support.
I would suggest moving all your files off the media card, formatting it from the phone. The next step is crucial, be careful to transfer only the media files back to the card i.e. don't copy and paste entire folders because they may have hidden .dat files.
What device OS are you running by the way? Options>About, 3rd line down says v4.x.x.xxx?
And did you recently purchase the media card and install it? Did you recently transfer files to the card when problems started occuring? Perhaps there is a corrupted media file causing the problems.

  • Q10 connects to Media Card but not Device (Photos, Documents, etc.)

Okay, I'm having a doozy of a time trying to figure this out. I've tried seven ways to Sunday and it's just not working the way it should.
In the past, with BB Pearl, Curve ,and Bold, the device always connected upon USB contact with my computer... I could access photos I had taken and saved to the device as well as photos I had taken and saved to a memory card.
Now, it isn't connecting right. If the Mass Storage option is turned on, I can access photos on the memory card (on my computer, it's the F drive)
Oddly enough, the few times it has connected right, they show up as the Y and the Z drives. The Y drive is the memory card and the Z drive is the deivce drive.
I thought I had it figured out, that if I wanted to access the device, then I had to have the mass storage turned to off and if I wanted to access the memory card, I'd have to switch it to on.
It was working that way yesterday. I connected it to my computer and wala, everything connected, and it started backing it up right away.
    Today, nada.
I've tried multiple USB cables and they're all working fine. Currently, I'm using the USB cable that came with the Q10.
It doesn't matter if the bluetooth is on or off and it seems to require that the method of accessing documents is to connect by auto detect (vs connect to Windows) in the storage/media access.
Sometimes when I plug it in, both old and new version of BB desktop pop up (BB Link and BB Desktop) The Desktop detects that it's connected to a Q10 but that there is no support for it.
Could it be that I need to uninstall BB Desktop, maybe there's a software conflict in there somewhere?
I just can't get it connect consistently! Help!
    Thanks!

    Hello scarlett 67,
Sorry to hear you are having issues connecting to your BlackBerry® Q10 smartphone to your PC.
To clarify does your and the PC recognize that the BlackBerry® Q10 smartphone? If so, there should be two drives that are recognized in My Computer; Y drive which is your device memory and X drive is your media card. Ensure to open both the photo and camera files on the X drive to search for the pictures that are saved on your media card.
BlackBerry® Desktop Software and BlackBerry® Link should function successfully on the same computer. Check out this article for more details.
Please let us know if you are able to successfully access your media card on your computer.

please help, i wiped my device clean then did a back up and everything was back except the things i had on my media card. how do i get it back?

  • I have moved my iPhoto to an external hard drive. so now I have to have the external hard drive connected to my laptop to view the photos.  Now when I want to import photos into iPhoto from my media card, I don't have room to connect both devices.

I have moved my iPhoto to an external hard drive. so now I have to have the external hard drive connected to my laptop to view the photos.  Now when I want to import photos into iPhoto from my media card, I don't have room to connect both devices at the same time as the usb ports are side by side.  How do I import my photos from the media card to the external hard drive now?

First transfer the photos to a folder on your MacBook using Image Capture in your Utilities folder. Then move them to iPhoto.
BTW, you might want to invest in a cheap USB hub.

  • Backing up photos to external hard drive, and exporting back to CF card on camera

iPhoto 5 on Mac Power PC G4, OS 10.4.11
backing up photos to external hard drive (LaCie) My iPhoto Library contains a number of files (such as 'Library.iPhoto' 'iPhoto.db' 'ThumbJPG.data' etc) and a number of folders with dates such as 2005 etc, containing folders within folders, none of which with any contents.
Is there a way I can organise just the photos on their own so that I can select just those to be backed up on my LaCie hard drive, without all those distracting and (apparently) unnecessary extra files and folders ?
exporting edited photos back to CF card on camera I have tried everything I can think of to export photos from iPhoto back to the CF card on the camera, without success. It must be possible to do ?

Edit: Note: It's been a while but the Export command may be in the Share menu on older versions...
    1. To back up an iPhoto Library
    Most Simple Back Up
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
    Slightly more complex:
Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically. Examples of such apps: Chronosync or DejaVu . But are many others. Search on MacUpdate
    2. To Back up Just the Photos
Use the File -> Export command to export the images to where you want them.
BTW: there are no user-serviceable parts in the iPhoto Library Folder. Rooting around in there can cause damage.
    3. Edited Photos to CF Card is a two part process:
Exporting is just File -> Export. Choosing any setting except 'Original' and you'll get the Edited version.
The CF Card? Just drag and drop there.
But a couple of possible problems: Canon Cameras don't show up in the Finder. So you'll need to stick the card into a USB Card Reader for get them on there
Camera Cards are all formatted FAT. That means there's a limit to the number of items on the top level of the card: Workaround: Export the shots to a folder and drag that over
And, of course, if you want to see the shots in the camera, you'll need to put them in whatever specific folder it uses for the photos.
    Regards
    TD

  • How do I export photos back onto a camera SD card? I have created a desktop file for photos and SD card in Finder, dragged photos to card, but when I try to view them in the camera, it says "No valid photo to display"

How do I export photos back onto a camera SD card? I have created desktop files for the photos and the card, dragged photos to the card, but when I replace card in camera, it says "No valid photo to display". I just need to get some prints made and have been struggling with this for hours. Thank you.

No one can help you any more than has been done
Your camera is not a general purpuose photo display system - it is designed to take photos, let you look at those photos and allow you to download them to your computer or other places - if you wnat to use it view photos then you have to put the photos in exactly the correct place with exactly the correct names or it will not see them
And this has absolutely nothing to do with iPhoto in any way - iPhoto sotres and proecesses yoru photos and allows you to export them - once you export them it is totally out of the picture - you can easily get photo prints by using the iPhoto print service, using an internet print service, burning photos to a DVD and taking them to a print service or putting them on a SD card and taking them to a print service - to view them on your camera you have to exactly reporduce what the camera is looking for - not at all sure what the pirnt even is
