Cant burn cds anymore and ipod hassle

Question

hello.i cant burn cds anymore.itunes says it cant calibrate laser power.im lost.i can still import cds but listening to them is terrible.i bought a new ipod and most of the music sounds the same.its like a clipping sound.please reply.
