Cant burn .dv file
After video encoding, i get a message saying error in burning process, it doesn't even attempt to burn to dvd. i can only get .mov files to burn. is their a way to burn higher quality video?

Nope, data DVDs are useful for archiving or transferring to another computer, but won't play in a regular DVD player.
If want a playable DVD and the it is an iMovie production, you don't need to do any file conversion. Try this:
-quit iMovie and open iDVD
-use the Finder to locate your iMovie project and right-click/Show Package Contents
-find the "native" Quicktime version of your iMovie by opening the Shared Movies folder; then open the iDVD folder.
-import this to iDVD by dragging it into the menu area (not a drop zone). Let it encode and set up your menus, etc.

I am having trouble burning music cds using the burner. The music will initially burn but after listening to the disc I realize the quality becomes poor including lots of skipping, especially towards the end of the disc. I use a standard cd-r and never surpass capacity.
Is there a way to fix this problem or should I send my mac in?

Windows Media Audio files cant be imported into iTunes. I bought a Olympus Digital audio recorder WS-100 and it seems to be one of the only models that works on a Mac, but I cant import the audio to iTUnes and I cant burn them to audio CD's that 99.9% of the world can read.
is there a way?Maybe I'll stick with tapes. What a pain.. I have to buy software that costs about $30 just to burn a CD from my digital recorder. Nah I'll stay with tapes.
Got any digital recorders that record into a non WMA format? Dont reccommend me a iPod accessory, as the features are lacking compared to a standalone digital recorder.
My Zire 72 records into a WAVE format, but the audio quality cant compare to a standalone digital recorder.
Besides I can get more audio on a tape than on a CD and I have a ton of them left.
Perhaps I'll just stay with tapes. What a shame that I have to spend $30 just to import the audio into iTunes so I can burn a CD.

OK Hello I have been buying the new videos from itunes
Before they sold seperrately ( wenh were sold Along with albums )
they could Be burned to CD and when In a cd player would still play Music only
but now that Ive bought them individaully I cant burn them in such a way
this is not consistant with what HAS been done and Obviously its not

Well the video quality aint thgat great ........I just purchased about 8 Music Videos using the new iTunes 6.0 application, and was wondering if these files can be played back on my PSP?
I noticed that the file format has a .m4v format and Sony's PSP plays .mp4 files....so can the iTunes Videos be converted to play on this sort of device?
I don't always have my laptop around, and simply would like to whip out my PSP for games...and when I get tired of that...be able to listen to and watch Music Videos.
What's up with all this proprietary crap...there should be some sort of standardization...and allow user who purchase (really tiny videos) to be able to play them back on (really tiny devices)
After all the Videos do not really scale-up to full-size to well...for $1.99....I guess we get what we pay for!!
I forgot to mention I already have a Photo iPOD (my second generation purchase)...and can't keep buying this units everytime they come up with something new!! (there should be some sort of trade-up or firmware upgrade...instead of scrapping these devices and having to purchase a new one) -
can not transfer date from one hard drive to another, I keep getting an error because I have two of the same file names and one file name is in caps and I cant change the file name. My original external has an error and needs to be reformatted but I dont want to lose this informations its my entire Itunes library.
Sounds like the source drive is formatted as case sensitive and the destination drive is not. The preferred format for OS X is case insensitive unless there is a compelling reason to go case sensitive.
Why can't you change the filename? Is it because the source drive is having problems? If so is this happening with only one or two or a few files? If so the best thing would be to copy those over individually and then rename them on the destination drive.
If it is more then you can do manually and you can't change the name on the source you will have to reformat the destination as case sensitive.
Btw this group is for discussion of the Support Communities itself, you;d do better posting to Lion group. I'll see if a host will move it. -
Help I just moved my music files to a external hard drive and am using the new crappy version ( i know my opinion) of itunes and cant add the files to my libray it gives me the add file to library option but not the add folder to library option what am i doing wrong?
In iTunes 11 uncheck the preferences setting in in the iTunes Preferences panel "Advanced > Copy Files to iTunes Media folder when adding to Library"

I downloaded a .zip file. It ate up my space and i cant find the file. How can i get this file off my phone?
Not possible. Safari won't download and save a Zip file. You either had to use a 3rd party app, or as wjosten suggests, your phone is jailbroken. If the former, you'll need to use that app to find it. If the latter, you'll have to look elsewhere for assistance.

When attempting a reinstall of iTunes, I cant delete the file C\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\Shellstream.resources due to same error message as described above for iPod file; however i can't find it anywhere in the Task Manager
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.

Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards? -

The last failed audio CD burn had error code 4280(0x000010b8). It happened on drive D: MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-841S on CDR media at speed 4X.hmmm. i went to Toshiba to check for any available updates for your Satellite ... but they split out the downloads by subcategories for the A105, and so i'm not sure what your precise model is.

I have a Mac Pro OS 10.7.5 and have a DVD+R disc with files on it, but it ejects the disk after about 10 seconds--what to do? How can I get the data off this disc? I can see it has been already burned, so files are on there?
Try cleaning the lens and see if that will restore functionality to the DVD drive. Use a DVD lens cleaning disk, if you have a can of compressed air, shoot some into the slot or wrap a fine microfiber cloth (eyeglasses cleaning cloth) around a business card and insert it gently inside the slot.
If no success, make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar and get a free diagnosis from them.

I can't get my music to play in my itunes. It comes with a exclamation mark next to the song numbers and says that the original songs can't be played cause cant find the file. How do I get the songs back? (I found the files
You get exclamation marks or dead tracks because iTunes can’t find the file. This can happen for a number of reasons:
The song file or a folder in its path was renamed
The song file or the folder it is in has been moved
The song file has been deleted
The device containing the song files e.g. external drive is not accessible or the drive letter has changed.
If you use an external drive, a change in drive letter is a common cause and you need to change it back.
AS a way of working out what has happened, right click on a track and select the summary tab (you will have to go past an error message). The summary tab will tell you where iTunes thinks the track is located. How does that compare with where the track actually is?
The xml library file is not used by iTunes, it is created to allow other programs to access the library. You can recreate the iTl file from the xml file, but there is no point if the location of the files is wrong.
There is a simple way of getting you music back in iTunes, but it loses all playlists counts and rating. To do this drag iTunes library.itl and iTunes Library.xml to your desktop. Then open iTunes and an empty library is created. Add you iTunes Media folder to it.
If you can't work out what went wrong and how to fix it, you may have to do this. -
I am using I Photo 9.2.3 with OS 10.6.8 When I upgraded to current I photo some of my Iphoto books i put together disappeared. Cant find them anywhere, including in the time machine...I photo cant open older files...How can a find the book entitled "Mom" ? Does Apple keep ordered books on file?
Apple keeps books for a short time (used to be 40 days. I've not seen a recent time frame)
What version did you have?
Books do nor exist except in the iPhoto database so you can not "find" a book vista TM. You restore a previous library (be sure NOT to overwrite your current library) and switch to it

Sony NEW RX10 & iPhoto Cant open RAW files
Hey Guys, I know that not ALL RAW files are equal! I just picked up a NEW SONY RX10 and its shooting RAW files in Sony's ARW format.. I see that the NEW a7's are updated in OSX updates, Im assuming that the a7's and the New RX10 are the same ARW format, but I cant open these files in Preview and Iphoto wont see them either! Im using OSX 10.8.5 (ML) and Iphoto 11 (9.4.3) (720.91) Is anyone else having this issue with a RX10 or newer Sony camera with ARW files... Please reply! I really would like to shoot in RAW and use iPhoto to edit! I guess not ALL SONY .ARW are equal????
Im assuming that the a7's and the New RX10 are the same ARW format,
There you go - that is an incorrect assumption (as most assumptions are - as you know when you assume you make an ***ume out of ***ume & assume) - every RAW format for every camera is different and requires specific support for tha tcamera - notice in the support list that many different cameras in the same family are listed seperatly
Usually Apple releases Sony RAW support pretty quickly since Sony is a major manfactuer of consumer and professional cameras
Tell Apple - iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback
The Sony software that came with the camera may help (although my experiance is that Sony has poor to non-existance support for Macs) and possible the Adobe RAW converter can help until Apple releases the required update
And it is very possible that the update will only apply to Mavericks and iPhoto 9.5.x so it is possible that you will have to upgrade your OS and iPhoto (both free) - when you do be sure to backup first
