As of yesterday, I cant burn anymore songs to disks.I receive an error code 4020.It sounds like it is going to burn the songs but then after 2 minutes nothing happens and it aborts. Is it possible it is a problem with I-Tunes 7.1? Should I go back to an earlier version??

  • Idvd burning - I'm getting error code -536870198 - HELP!

I can't burn any movies to DVD through iDVD 5.0.1
I get most of the way through the process - title rendering, transition rendering, video processing (or rendering, can't recall) then the machine spits out the blank DVD (A Memorex DVD+R), says there were errors in the process and gives me error code
    -536870198
    then iDVD usually is unresponsive/crashes
Anyone have any idea what this or how I can fix it?
    It's driving me nuts.

I would use (and do) Verbatim DVD-R (not DVD+R) burned at 4X or slower. Here's some more detail about using a disk image. Some of these errors tend to pop up from trying to burn a disk too fast.
Suggest you create a disc image and then burn the DVD. File/Save As Disc Image...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164927
This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually, you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
There are variations to this process based on which OS X you are using...
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (maybe the .img) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. A new window should drop down and your SuperDrive tray will open after clicking the Burn icon. Insert a recordable DVD. (Verbatim DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Select a burn speed. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and did change in Tiger.
Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD Media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)

  • Blu-Ray player won't burn a disc. Error Code "0"

Hi all, haven't made the jump to CC so we are using CS6 for everything.
I just recently installed a SSD and deleted/fresh install of the CS6 suite onto the newly wiped internal HD. Everything works perfect, except Encore.
Encore is refusing to burn to a DVD. I have been using CS6 since it went public and I have never once had this issue for a Blu-Ray or a DVD. Now, it won't even recognize that a disc is in the burner. It keeps saying to put in a DVD or a Blu-Ray DVD, hit OK etc. I do this, repeatedly, to no avail. Now I have tried creating a Blu-Ray Image which works perfectly fine. However I couldn't get that Image to burn succesfully to a blu-ray. Now it burnt without an issue, (using windows default burner which may be the issue), but when put into the blu-ray player it is just a black image with no menus or anything.
Back to Encore, It will trans-code the files without incident, it's when it goes to the burning session it will not accept any disc I put in. This is for both a Blu-Ray and a regular DVD. I keep getting Error Code "0" or simply, "insert a blu ray or dvd media disc an hit OK". Occasionally I got "Adobe Encore Failed" and that is it. Not sure what to do. I've been trying to burn since this morning.
I gave in and bought Nero 2015 just now in the hopes I can burn the blu-ray image correctly. Do I have any other options as this needs to be done today as I have to be an event tomorrow.
    Thank you!
    Jason

Adding to that, I am not getting the message "The Device Is Not Ready" and you can hit Retry and endless number of times with no results. Or just cancel and then it says Building Failed. Thoughts?

  • DVDs burn fine; attempting to burn a CD produces error code 8002006E

. . . and at least twice, a locked burn folder on the desktop, that couldn't be unlocked through Get Info.
It gets as far as "Writing Track 1, 0% complete," then gives the error code, and the windows associated with the burn are stuck on the screen.
They physical media appears to end up with a narrow ring of burned area near the hub.
Anybody know what an 8002006E could be?

For what it's worth, I have the same issue on my MBP 15" running 10.5.1. I can burn DVDs just fine, but every CD, old, new, whatever fives that error code (8002006E).
I even tried booting off a clean install of 10.5 on an external drive, and got the same code. I'm starting to think my hardware might be bad... And that's not good.
I'm going to the Genius Bar this afternoon and hope to get an answer that doesn't involve sending my MBP back to the factory! Anyone got any idea of a less drastic solution?

  • Unable to make recovery disk-Error code:020123

I just recently bought Satellite P755-S5265  and I am having trouble creating recovery discs.
When using the Recovery Media Creator program, I can create Discs 1 to 3, but am having trouble on disc 4.
About halfway during the downloading sequence this error pops up:
    Failure to open file
    D:\DATA.INI
    (Error Code:020123-F1-0000000)
I have gone through several DVD-R discs each having the same error.
I've also tried using the Hard Disk Recovery utility to restore the computer to manufactory settings, but the same error pops up again.
Could someone please help me out?
I appreciate an help I can get.
    Thank you in advance

If you're getting the error both when creating recovery media and when recovering the computer using the recovery partition, it sounds like there's a problem with the data on the recovery partition itself.
    I'd contact support at (800) 457-7777.

Hi ! Iuse memorex DVD-R. What I would do is buy a usb and create your recovery on it. That is if your machine will boot to a USB. I have a 16GB USB with my recovery on it. It would be a lot easier to use it than all those discs You can check boot sequence to see if your machine will boot from USB

I'm trying to burn data to a CD. I get the above error message, plus the error message "Burning the disc failed because communication to the disc drive failed. Error code: 0x80020022."
This has happened with 3 blank CDs. I followed the standard advice to use a different brand of CD (although I typically use imation CD-R media). How can I get Macbook to burn data to CD, and what does this cryptic message mean?
    Thanks,
    Dan Neunaber

It seems I have corrected the error myself. I reset my PMU (I think), and now it seems to burn beautifully. With the same type cd's that it did before.
You can find instructions on how to perform this operation here. It only takes a few seconds. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303319
Besides now burning beautifully it seems that my apps are now starting up quicker. I would say that I have gained about 30% in speed. Weird. But nice.

  • What is a disk error code (1857, -36)

I was running os9.22, Diskwarrior Plus Optimizer on a 4GB Apple Branded SCSI drive.  I had started the mac off the Diskwarrior CD (9.22) and then used Plus Optimizer which started running, then stopped, giving me the following error:
             (1857, -36)
I was able to stop the process, exit to the desktop and properly restart without error.
The error code above repeated when I re-ran Plus Optimizer as above.
The drive is properly installed, properly terminated, and has a good SCSI ID.  This drive has the OS9.22 installed on it, the other drive (18GB) does not.  768GB RAM, 500MHZ upgraded CPU (OWC) on a Desktop G3.  Drive runs off an adaptec 2906 installed in a PCI slot.  There is a CDRW running on the IDE bus and a second SCSI 18GB drive running off another SCSI card in an adjacent PCI slot.
The overall system seems to be working OK, except for this glitch.
Do I have a bad 4GB SCSI drive, or is there some other problem that can be explained?
    Thanx.
    Kevin Pernicano
    [email protected]

The -36 error is a Mac error code: "I/O error"
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1618
The 1857 error does not appear to be a Mac error code -
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2088
    - perhaps it is a code proprietary to Plus Optimizer. If so, emailing Alsoft (link available at their website) will probably be responded to quickly - they're pretty good about that.
Even knowing what an error code translates to all too often does not usually provide useful information, meaning indication of a clear path to solution.
If it is a matter of defragging the drive, you can do that manually. Copy everything off of the drive to a different volume, do a simple erase (a Finder erase, not a Drive Setup reformat) of the drive; then copy everything back. Using drag-and-drop is a satisfactiry means of doing this copying.
If you do this, when copying back to the freshly erased volume, copy the System Folder first; then applications; then documents. That sequence will also approximate the origanization of an optimized drive.

  • Hard Disk Error Code 301

Can I replace/recover my hard drive after receiving error message "smart disk error 301"?  I have a HP G72-253NR Notebook PC, product # LG583UA. I've received the error message and now when I turn on my system it will not boot up and will automatically go to startup repair. I then get the message that "A hard disk problem is preventing Windows from starting".  This leads me to believe that my hard drive has completely failed.  My notebook is no longer under warranty and I need a quick inexpensive fix. Please help.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi,
The 301 Smart error would indicate the drive is failing and needs to be replaced - this is also consistent with the start-up error.
Your notebook is listed as coming with a 640Gb Hard Drive, but considering there's little or no difference in cost, you can just as easily install a 750Gb HDD if you want a bit more space - the drive on the following link is an example that would be fine for your notebook.
    750Gb Hard Drive.
The procedure to replace the Hard Drive starts on Page 50 of your Maintenance & Service Guide.
Once done, simply use your Recovery DVDs to reinstall the Operating System on the new drive - this procedure is described in the HP document Here.
If you don't have your Recovery Discs, you can order a replacement set using the link below.
    Order HP Recovery Discs.
If you have any problem with this link, order them directly from HP.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.
