  • Tv@nywhere Master - Cant capture higher than 352X288

    Hi
I have a Tv@nywhere Master and i cant capture any higher that 352x288 resolution.
I tryed VirtualDub and Adobe Premier . They both say : Unsuported Video Format when i try to select 640x480 or 720x576 . (PAL mode)
The original software (MSIPVS) lets me choose the format and resolution but i dont want to use it because it offers poor quality.
I am capturing from VHS at maximum quality possible and storing it in AVI uncompressed and then use TMPEGenc to SVCD.
Can anyone comment on this ?
Doesnt this board capture higher than 352x288 ???
    Thank you
    Filipe

I use it in 768x576 without any problems
you just have to look for a   Use Smart Tee Filter  setting because the card can`t both capture and preview over 288 so you`ll need to split the data on the Capture pin in order to provide preview over 288 lines.

  • Cant capture anymore

I created a FCP project for capturing a new tape using capture now (shot with my Somy Vx2000 in 16/9 (yes, I know many people dont like to cature using capture now, but it is a for a very simple job and always find it convenienct for qick jobs).
Unfortunately I forgot to set up the right capture settings to make it DV NTSC 48 KHz Anamorphic. It was just DV NTSC 49 KHz. After realising it, I closed FCP and erased through the Finder window the project from my FCP Project Directory as well as in the capture Scratch sub-directories.
I reopened FCP and corrected the audio/video settings to make the capture in DV Anamorphic.
I started to capture the tape, still using Capture Now, but after 4-5 seconds it stopped and I got the message : "Capture encountered a problem reading the data on your source tape. This cold be due to a problem with the tape. Capture has been aborted and your clip has been saved".
I tried to create a new project name, and it did not solve the problem. I tried another tape, I tried to reboot the MacPtro, but I still have this problem and cant capture anymore.
Can someone help finding the source of the problem and how to solve it ?

Before playing around with the Power management Unit as you suggested after, I tested your idea of capturing as non anamorphic. And it worked !! But when I come back to the DV NTSC Anamorphic, the problems comes back.
You are right, we can turn on the anamorphic checkbox in the Browser, but the canvas windows looks funny. It is still shaped 4/3 but the image shows 16/9 with black strips on top and botton and exceeds the limits in the right and left sides.
But knowing that, how can I make my traditional settings work again (choosing in my audio/video settings both my sequence preset and my capture preset to be DV NTSC 48 KHz Anamorphic ?

  • Cant Capture Screen Recordings with QuickTime Player for making  App Previews

cant Capture Screen Recordings with QuickTime Player for making  App Previews
    went into that page:
    https://developer.apple.com/app-store/app-previews/imovie/Creating-App-Previews- with-iMovie.pdf
upgraded to quick time 7 pro
    got stuck here:
" 4. In the window that appears, select your iOS device as the Camera and Microphone input source".
the window appeared, no selection is possible

The instructions in the Developer page you link contemplates that you are using the QTX version instead of QT7 Pro:
    vs.
QT7 Pro does not allow selection of iOS devices as the Camera and Microphone
 input source.
QTX is the QT version included with Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard and later.  However, as explained in the Developer page you linked above, if your Mac is not already using it, you need to upgrade to the current (OS X 10.10 Yosemite) OS X Version to use iOS devices as the recording sources in QTX.

  • If you cant capture

if you cant capture your video because the timecode is screwed up just import into iMovie then drag and drop.
hope this will be helpful to someone.

    lol... Z1user -
Hey -did you enjoy Honolulu? (Maybe you never left!)
    Jskier:
A better route is to turn the capture setting:Device setting to NON-CONTROLLABLE DEVICE. Just hit play on DV cam and CAPTURE NOW.
You can stay in FCP. Hope this makes your life easier. Mark this topic as solved so other won't jump in to help you since you don't need it.

  • Capturing Hi8 A/V through Digital8 Camcorder - FCP preset question

After putting this off for years (so long that I forgot what to do) I am finally getting around to loading the old family library of Hi8 video footage shot in the 80's and 90's with a Canon A1 through a Sony DCR-TRV320 to do the analog to video conversion enroute to the Mac through FCP 6. After trial and error I have fumbled my way through the appropriate camcorder settings (Analog Video Out conversion to Digital Video Out, Audio bit rate changed from 12 bit to 16 bit) to eliminate the audio sampling rate mismatch error I was getting in FCP after Capture Now imports.
My latest test loaded OK with no errors. I am still left wondering if I should change the audio frequency preset in FCP. I can't find authoritative info on what audio frequency the original Hi8 material was recorded in. Changing the bit rate from 12 to 16 on the Sony camcorder fixed the FCP mismatch error I was getting, but I wonder if I am screwing with the sound by leaving the FCP preset at 48 kHz. If the Hi8 material was recorded at a lower frequency, will the audio be OK if FCP is importing it at 48 kHz? It sounds OK but I haven't done a headphone test. Just wondering if I have to create a special preset at a lower frequency or just leave it alone, now that I solved the bit rate problem.
    Thanks!

Thank you all for the expert advice. I just found the manual for the Sony camcorder used for the analog to digital conversion and it lists two modes for its PCM system 1) 12 bits/32 kHz, 2) 16 bits/48 kHz. If I understand you correctly, it doesn't matter how the audio was laid down by the Canon A1 analog, since the Sony is converting it to 16/48 (or 12/32 which was my problem earlier, before toggling the Sony menu setting). Is that right?

  • Cannot capture Hi8 run through digitizer

Bought FCE2 installed with Mac g5 a few years ago only to capture and copy to DVD old video - Hi8 and DV. It virtually never worked. Dozens of hours trying every conceivable combo of settings. When I hit NOW, it either 1] gave "General Error," froze, wouldn't close or force quit without restarting, or 2] appear to be capturing for 5 minutes 13 seconds (consistently), then freeze, yielding a file of 21.27 GB (when "Limit capture" was set to 100 minutes) that was labelled Quicktime Movie, but would not play.
But about once a year, it successfully captured an hour or so of DV tape or Hi8 tape run through a Sony TRV950 with "A/V>DV OUT" set to "ON." That is, I play the Hi8 tape in an analog camcorder running its output into the TRV950 set to digitize it. Output from 950 goes to computer. I got playable Quicktime movies from both Hi8 and DV tapes.
With resentment, because I paid for FCE2 to work, I bought the upgrade to FCE4. It is working reliably to capture DV tape (but not export it), but it will not capture the Hi8 run through the Sony digitizing feature. When I hit NOW, I get the large black rectangle and "Waiting for timecode." But never get past that. I am using the identical setup as with FCE2 during the very rare occasions on which it functioned normally. The Hi8 tapes have a timecode, the same type that occasionally worked with FCE2.
Any helpful insights from the experienced?
For capture scratch, I use a second internal HD - 750 GB with 32 MB cache. I have also tried a large external HD and the Mac's primary HD. Same result.
    Thanks for your time.
    TT

    Great news TT.
    1. With the new Setup setting, I have successfully captured a long Hi8.
An Easy Setup change only effects NEW Projects. DV Converter is the correct Easy Setup for use where a NON-Controllable device is being used.
    2. On my newly installed second internal drive, I formatted as Extended (journalled). I do not know >the formatting of the main Mac internal drive.
Right/Option Click on your system drive icon on the Desktop and select Get Info from the menu.
What is the significance of these two items?
Anti-virus apps can think your incoming footage is nasty and tries to block it. iSight if active is competing for a chunk of incoming video.

  • How to capture hi8 super8?

    Hi,
I have my Imac connect to a Dv converter what has S-video and composite. Now i would like to Be able to capture Super video, Video8 and Hi8.
I don't know much about what play i have to get to work. Is there anyone who can tell me, if there is a unique player that are able to play it all? I really need some help.
    Thanks

Super 8 is an 8mm Cine (film) format. Recording Super8 to DV and/or DVD requires equipment that can project the film and a video recorder. At the low end of the spectrum people will simply play the Super8 from a film projector, point a video camera at the screen and record away. The higher end equipment gives the operator more control over how the frames are recorded.
To do it very well involves some specialized equipment and a high degree of skill.
An example of the lower (do it yourselfer...) end of things.
(The link is in no way an endorsement - it was the first item that popped up in a googe search of " telecine equipment'.)

  • Losing Faith in Mac - Cant Capture HD in FC HD

Why wont FCHD let me capture HD from my clients JVC-HDGY100 24p 720p Camera -' Whats the deal " need help client is geting ******- my fellow freelancer is useing sony vegas and its captureing fine (this shouldn't be) Please tell me what Im doing wrong so I can restore my clients faith in apple.

Wow cant beleive Vegas is out in front of FC--- That *****
I'm sorry, but I don't get how you can make that statement.
First off, you didn't answer any of my questions...didn't confirm what version of FCP you are using and didn't mention what version of Vegas was being used.
Second, Vegas is HARDLY in front of FCP. Name one company that uses Vegas for broadcast TV work...especially in HD. There are post houses in LA and NY that are entirely FCP based, Avid based....but not one that uses Vegas.
Now, either answer the questions or you will be considered a Troll trying to tout Vegas over FCP.
    Vegas will lose.

  • Capturing HI8 tapes: Date/Time

    Hi all,
I recently started to capture my HI8 tape collections from an old HI8 Video Cam via Fire Wire into Premiere Pro CC 2014.
The data/time when the footage was taken is visible for around 3 to 5 seconds in the Camcorder display at the beginning of each tape
but it's not visible anymore if the media is imported into Premiere. Is there any chance to make the date/time stamp visible? Is there
a setting that I may have overseen or any chance to add it manually?
    Thanks a lot

No version of Premiere (Pro or Elements) will work with ANY device that does not connect to a Firewire port
EXCEPT... you may buy a card (I think Blackmagic is one) and then use the device driver supplied by the vendor to "link" the card to Premiere (I did this back in 2002 with a Pinnacle DV500 card)
Premiere will NOT work with a USB device... as I said above... you may use a TI chip for adding a firewire card http://forums.adobe.com/thread/940242 to then use something like a Grass Valley product

  • Problems Capturing Hi8

    Hi there
I have connected my Hi8 playback device, Sony DCR-TRV355E to my laptop via firewire. I opened Final Cut Pro, hit cmd 8 bringing up the capture window. I can playback, view the footage and control the camcorder via final cut, however, when I click on batch capture button, I get a black capture window, with text at the bottom saying waiting for timecode. I then push play on the camcorder, which starts playing the tape yet no capturing actually begins. Stays on the black window waiting for timecode... Heeeelp.

Thanks for the help... I can close Imovie now, its working perfectly with FCP.

  • Capture Hi8 Video

I find a missing Sony Hi8 Vidoe tape.  The Video Capturing device I still have is KWorld VS-USB2800D DVD Make USB2.0.  It comes with a Windows XP video capturing software PVR-PLUS which cannot be used on my MacBook Pro obviously.
    1) Can I still use the KWorld VS-USB2800D device?  What software / apps are available on OS X Mountain Lion?  e.g. iMovie.
    2) Or is there any recommendation for a simple but compatible app I can purchase from the Mac App Store?
    3) If I need to buy another video capturing device?  Which one?
    4) What is the best quality of output should I choose for the video capturing?

Are you using the DV Convert capture setting in FCE?  And as you've discovered, the tape must be playing when you hit the NOW button - not the other way around.

  • Cant capture video?

so im trying to capture video in my new iMac from my DV camera and i cant get iMovie to see the camera. Like the post below, i am attached via 4 pin mini dv to firewire 800. any thoughts? there is obviosly a way to do it but how? Ive also tried to connect via 4 pin mini DV to USB2 AND 5 pin mini to USB2. nothing!
why did Mac loose the FW 400 on these new iMacs? they were pretty stable and i never had an issue.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated and DESPERATELY needed.
    Thanks

all miniDV ist supported by iMovie..
check your Macs and Cam ports:
connect device to Mac via fw, set to 'Play'
click on Blue  upper left, 'About this Mac/More Info'..
the System Profiler should notice your device under 'firewire'
if not, Macs and/or Cams ports are fried..
test other devices on port/test camcorder on other Macs..

  • Cant capture hdv from my sony hdr-sr12 onto fcp 6.0

Hi. I recently got a sony hdr-sr12e hd camcorder and i am trying to edit some footage i filmed over christmas. However when I come to click on log and capture i get a message saying:
    Unable to Initialize Capture Device
Device is not connected or the capture preset is not setup correctly. You may still log offline clips.
This might also happen if you play DV footage in an HDV device.
I used to use a canon mv630i video camera if that helps?
Would really appreciate any help because I want to get editing again!
