Cant change main enail address

it is not letting me change my main email address as it says the one im changing it to is my rescue address but i have changed my rescue address to a different ine now.. v annoying as the existing main email is not in use anymore !

I'm afraid you can't do this. Once you've chosen the main @icloud.com address when you set up the account you can't change it (other than by creating a completely new account); and you can't make an alias the main address in the account it's in or any other account.

Once you are signed in you will see your main page with a view of your bill UNDER your bill is a banner ad and under the banner ad is ACCOUNT ACTIONS, and in that section is account tools. Click on account tools.

Okay, so i got my mail app. back ( thanks guys! you know who you are!) But, I had tried to change the email address to my last one, which didn't work. So now that I have a .mac account, I'd like to know...how can I change my main email address to a .mac account ( I think i know how to, but i was wondering what i should change everything to ie. when it says outgoing mail server...what do it put) Thanks guys! Is your main email account/address provided by your internet service provider used for connecting to the internet and is this email account still active?
If so, you need to create this account in Mail and must know the account type - POP or IMAP, the incoming and outgoing mail server settings, the user name format - usually the portion of your email address in front of the @ sign only but with some providers the user name is the entire email address. You can get this information from the email account provider for the account.
You can't change your main email address to a .Mac account if not provided by .Mac.

Billing Address has to match iTunes address and the country you are in.

Welcome to the Apple community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
When you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.

Changing devices is no reason to create a new Apple ID.
All content purchased from iTunes is permanently linked to the Apple ID it was purchased with.
To update apps purchased with the old ID, you MUST sign in with that Apple ID.

Is your phone still signed in with your old iTues ID for iCloud (in Settings>iCloud)?

I typed an incorrect address for my apple ID and cant change it on my ipad

During the set up I typed an incorrect apple ID address and now cant change it any suggestions

Go to the app store, click on Featured at the bottom, scroll all the way down, click on Apple ID: [whatever name you typed in] then sign out and sign in.
