Cant change sound when hooking up to tv

I am trying to hook my 2008 Macbook to my Emerson lcd and i can't seem to get it to work. I have every type of cord, i have the rca to headphone, the hdmi, the mini display port, the dvi, and a vga cord but i still can't get it to work. I can get video through the hdmi channels but no sound and i can get sound on the component imput but no video. I contacted the support team for my tv and they said that the issue is with the computer. They said i should have an option to change the settings on my computer to allow sound on the tv but the only option that comes up is internal speakers and healphone port. I don't know what else to try? Please help!

If you connect the MacBook using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo sound system if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio with the HDMI plug. The Mini DisplayPort to HDMI doesn't carry audio unless you have the Mid 2010 model 7,1 and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI.
If you have the Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody or Late 2009 model 6,1 White Unibody with the Mini DisplayPort rather than the Mini-DVI there is an adapter that can combine video and audio to HDMI.

Nano won't respond makes high pitched humming sound when hooked to cable

I'm beginnign to feel jinked. lol This is the second Nano I've had since October. The first was returned because of a defective battery and promptly replaced. Now to the current issue.
This Nano has acted erratic from day one. The hold button malfunctioned immediately, but functioned sporadically. It would not "hold" the Ipod when I turned it on and the hold icon wouldn't appear when this happened. Then it appeared to never actually turn off when I tried to turn it off, although it would have a blank screen. Instead it appears to go into pause. This is proven out by the fact that the battery power goes down quickly from use to use. Then it just faded out and died as if the battery was drained. BUT, the computer (all three of them) wouldn't recognize the Nano when hooked up to the charging cable it came with. Now it is emmitting a high pitched humming noise, has a blank screen and the computer still won't recongnize it.
I sent this Nano back already for repairs. It was returned to me UNREPAIRED with a note saying no problems were found. There is ABSOLUTELY something wrong with it but unfortunately for me it decided to come on right before I shipped it to Apple. I assume that is why it appeared to be functioning.
I have yet another repair request in for it but my confidence level about it's eventual repair or replacement is sinking. The most frustrating part of this is I LOVE this product. It was a greatly appreciated addition to my workout routine and other music needs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I forgot to say I tried the 5 r's, called tech support, have been ALL over this forum, and have even asked other nano users I know for tips.

I cant hear sound when a sms is coming or when playing media files.

When i plug in earphones i can hear sound and when a call comes in the sound works.
Anyone who know anything that can help.

Same problem started this morning for me. All sounds seem to work through headphones. The only tone that seems to come through the iPhone4s speaker is for the "ringtone". Music plays through the headphone, but not speaker.
The side switch is up. I've synced to iTunes. Settings haven't been changed recently, and appear to be correct. I've held the home and power buttons (think that's their names) until the white apple showed.

I have sound on everything except when I am on the internet. I have checked the sound and all levels are turned up and a sound check works. when i am on the internet and try u tube or games I have no sound.

I have hooked up my iPod to my car stereo and it sounds horrible. I dont know if the guy that did it, did it wrong but all support is telling me is that to hook it up with the cords i have. Any help from people? thank you

Does your ipod play through your car speakers.
Im guessing it does.
I am rather confident that your problem is solely thanks to the volume not being correctly done. To make it louder, use the car not the ipod.
Keep the ipod on a low volume.

I didn't find it in sounds or mails settings.

Not in Mail settings.
On my iPhone it is available at Settings > Sounds > Sounds And Vibration Patterns > New Mail.

Cant Hear sound when I record a video

I am using a Pro Vista, and my computer doesnt come with a built in mic. I am using a earpiece mic (probably an old type, it belongs to my wife). I can get a good clear video, but I cannot get any sound. Can anyone help me with this.

Hi,
Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Display Devices - make a note of the hardware listed here i.e. ATI, NVidia or Intel.
Next, connect your notebook via HDMI to your Tv. Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices. Left click once ( just to highlight the entry ) the HDMI Output that has the same name as your display adapter and then click the Set Default button - see if you now have audio.

You will need to return the phone to the US. iPhone warranty is only good in the country of purchase, with the exception of the EU.

How do I turn off vibrations when changing sound preferences?

I recently changed from syncing from my iphone to my computer to syncing it to icloud. Well it reset all my settings upon both syncs and now it vibrates every time I change a tone of some sort. I gone into my settings and have the vibrations turned off under sounds, yet it continues to vibrate whether I have the phone on silent or otherwise. It is very annoying. Please help Apple community! What can I do to get these vibrations to turn off completely? I never want the phone to vibrate.

Some progess I see. To be honest, i would not waste your time with trying to connect using wireless.
You are likely to get poor connections and dropping out.
If its working using a cable, then there is no need to bother with giving me the network settings, bu see how it goes, because sometimes giving the TV a static IP address can give better results.
There is an example of a couple of powerline adapters on the diagram below. Just ignore the network switch unless you want to connect other devices which are near to the TV.

How do i change default sound when using AirPlay Display on Mavericks

So i am using a TV with Apple TV attached as a second display for watching movies etc in the background
Everytime i turn on the setting to enable to the display, it sets the Apple TV as my default sound and i have to go to settings to manually re-select my speakers attached to my iMac. Is there anyway to change this so it leaves the sound from my Mac as the default sound when enabling the screen.

I looked into this a little more carefully. It's not the Guest account. It clearly indicates "Managed".

I understand you are having issues with sound output on your iPhone 4S. For troubleshooting steps, the following article provides the best information:

1. Verify that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack, including headsets, headphones, or adapters.
2. Make sure the Ring/Silent switch is not switched to silent.
3. While on the Home screen, adjust the volume buttons. If you see the icon below, indicating that headphones are attached, there may be debris or an object lodged in the headset jack:
4. Check the headset jack. If there is an object lodged in the headset jack that is not easily removed, have the iPhone serviced to remove object.
5. For Original iPhone: If there is light debris, such as lint, in the headset jack, try connecting a pair of headphones to the headset jack and then remove the headphones. Repeat this several times to remove the debris.
6. If you have installed a protective film on the display, either ensure that the receiver is not covered or remove the film completely.
7. Check the receiver mesh (which is on the top front of the device, above the display). If it appears blocked, use a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush to carefully and gently brush away any debris.
8. If you have paired with a Bluetooth headset that is nearby, either use the headset or turn Bluetooth off (choose Settings > General > Bluetooth).
9. Restart the iPhone.
10. If restarting the iPhone doesn't resolve the issue, try restoring the device.
11. If the issue persists, go to the Service Answer Center - iPhone for information on service.
