Cant close files or quit Photoshop CC! Also cant delete history states..

I having trouble with closing documents and even quitting Photoshop CC.
I tried the menu, shortcuts and the close button on the document frame.
Photoshop reacts to the shortcut by marking "file"/"Photoshop" in the menu when i push command+w or commmand+q but nothing happens.
I have to force quit photoshop each time. All other buttons work exept when i try to delete history states in the history panel. Nothing happens when pushing the "delete current state" button.
Can someone help me with a fix??

Photoshop CS6 creates too many History States withing 1 stroke

I'm on MAC OSX 10.6.8, Photoshop CS6, using a Wacom Cintiq 12".
Too often Photoshop remembers way too many History states within one pen stroke. In previous versions I don't remember this behaviour. Previously, each stroke, no matter how long, was registered as only one History state, until I raised the pen from the tablet. Now, totally sporadically without any obvious rule, Photoshop decides to remember even 100 history states within only one stroke.
Although this is sometimes useful, if you work on really long strokes, but mostly it's highly disturbing, as after using just one tool to paint only one little circle, I loose all my other, much more important History states.
Can somebody explain to me why???

Hmmm... could be, but I don't know how to test it, as it happens occasionally... I don't experience it in other software, but I will keep an eye on that.

Cant save file in adobe photoshop

why is it nothing happen when i click on save or save as in file tab? i have to quit photoshop everytime i do something, so when it asked 'save before quit?' i can save the file, but still, i cant save it in jpg file... somebody please help me...it use to be working properly on my computer...whats the problem? and how to solve it?

If I delete a user, will the shared files originating from this user also be deleted?

I would like to delete my old user account, but all of my mp3s originated from this account, and now reside in the shared folder so I can use them from any of my user accounts. If I delete this original user, will it's shared files also be deleted or will they remain in the shared folder? Thanks for your help. -Loren

Hello, by rights, nothing in the Shared folder should be touched, but I strongly advice having a backup of anything important.
And to double check, these files are in the Shared folder, not the shared Public/Drop box folder in that user?

HT201269 I have my partners laptop but need to delete his old itunes account on it how do I do that? As I have backed my iphone4 onto it but has to be connected to see the songs and cant see my pictures on it and also cant add songs to the itunes grrrr

Copy everything from the old computer or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

Tab through the Close File dialogue window buttons?

In the past when closing a document or file (any app) I could Tab through the different 'Don't Save', 'Cancel' & 'Save' buttons on the close file dialogue window. And also hit the spacebar to select the highlighted button.
But not any more. It could have stopped working when I deleted items (cleaned up?) from my home Library folder, or maybe it happened after the 10.4.10 update?
Does anyone else have the same problem? (Can you Tab through them & hit the spacebar to select the highlighted button?) Does anyone know how to fix it?

Select "All controls" at the bottom of the "Keyboard Shortcuts" pane of "Keyboard & Mouse" System Preference. Control-F7 will also turn it on or off.

Windows won't close when you quit Pages '09

Anybody else find that the Special Character and Help Pages windows don't close when you quit Pages? Also, these windows can't be relegated to the background when clicking on an underlying page. These seem to be really sloppy oversights...

I appreciate that the Character palette and Help are separate applications. The problem is that there is no need to keep these windows open once the program that called them is closed. Moreover, when Help is called in Pages '09, the window that is left open after the program quits is Pages '09-specific. You can't use it to submit queries for help with any other applications. Therefore, there is absolutely no sense in keeping it open. I kind of equate this to a messy kid that doesn't clean up his/her toys once (s)he's finished playing...

Performance/History States Preference problem Photoshop CS3

Hello everybody, I am using windows 7/32 bits and I am having a huge problem with my photoshop CS3. When I try to open it it says: Could not initialize Photoshop because file is locked.
Then I go to delete the preferences and it works again but when I close it I get a message that says Photoshop stopped working so I try to open it again and it says again: Could not initialize Photoshop because file is locked. I don't know what to do, I've tried everything (restart computer, delete preferences, delete temporary files) and nothing works. Please help if you can I have a lot of work and can't do anything with photoshop acting like this. Thanks very much in advance.
UPDATE: it seems that the locked file got fixed. But now once I open photoshop I change the performance, history states to 100 cause I need to have that setting. Once I do that and try to close photoshop it never closes and it says photoshop stopped working like it crashes or something, but If I don't change the performance/history states it closes normally, what can I do Please help.

I don't know why it should crash. It's happening right when you change the setting?
Assuming you have installed CS3 from your original media, have you updated to the latest Photoshop CS3 release (10.0.1)?

Photoshop does not close files and the program does not quit.

I have been on the phone with tech support for over an hour. Photoshop does not close files and the program does not quit. I am on a Mac and I am using Photoshop CC 2014.

Have you tried uninstalling Photoshop CC and re-installing? Another thing to try is to remove all Photoshop CC plist files. There is also the Cleaner tool:

Lightroom crashes after photoshop closes file

I'm having an intermittent problem. Here's what happens:
1) Right click on .DNG photo and do edit in photoshop.
2) Do my photoshop work, which will include usually 10 layers and be around 300 MB in size
3) save and close file
4) go back to lightroom to do more work, and it crashes as soon as I switch to it.
Then, if I run lightroom again, it will crash. In fact, it will not come back up unless I shut down photoshop. Then it will come back up. Sometimes the file I was working on is in the catalog, other times it isn't and I have to add it.
This happens to 5-10% of the files that I edit in photoshop.
My system is CS4, Lightroom, Windows 7. All 64 bit.
I had this same setup with Windows XP, but 32 bit and never had this happen.

I am having the same problem in CS2 running XP PRO - Just started a couple of weeks ago. I have updated all drivers, cleaned the registry, reinstalled
LR 2.6 . Everytime I edit an image in Photoshop, Lightroom will close and give me the " I'm sorry, but Lightroom must close"... It had worked for over a year and all of a sudden this starts. Everyone tells me it's a driver or Windows update, so I went through and updated everything I could and it still crashes.
I have spent many hours and dollars to this point and I reall need to get this fixed. If anyone can figure this one out, I would REALLY appreciate it!

Quitting Preview doesn't close file

It used to be, using Snow Leopard, that if I opened an image/pdf file in Preview and then quit the application, the next time I opened it the former image would not reappear. Now under Lion there is a new behavior: relauncing the app reopens whatever file was open when I quit. I have to consciously close each image file before quitting Preview, or face them all again, a process that is a waste of time. How can I revert to the former behavior?

You can turn this off:
Open System Preferences
General (under Personal)
Uncheck “Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps“
