    If you have RCA inputs on your stereo, just buy a 3.5mm to 2 RCA cable and connect it that way. If not, buy an FM transmitter, connect it to the headphone jack on your Zen Touch, set it to a channel and then tune into that channel on the stereo's radio.

  • Problems with connection Creative zen M and DVD-CD pla

    Hi,
    I have problems whem i connect my zen to the DVD player. I've connected zen with a cable going from the headphones to the audio line in (red and white) at the back of the DVD system. I get sound but the problem is that my zen automaticly switch to the FM radio mode, when it should be playing from the music libary. This happens by 70% of the numbers. How can I deal with this problem?
    Problem 2 is that I hear a strong noise when I connect my zen to the DVD player. It's al low sound which comes back in all the 5 boxes en sounds like a bee...
    Problem 3 is that I can't get the full volume on the DVD system. Even when zen is max on 25 i've to put the DVD system also max before a normal sound is coming to me...
    Can anybody please help me? Thanks!

    Hi there,
    . The reason the ZVM is switching to fm radio is because the headphone jack also supports a wired remote that controls some of the ZVM functions there will be some sort of back feed from your DVD head unit to the ZVM causing this to happen.
    2. The headphone jack does carry a bit of noise when used with line in applications and compared to the line out function of the ZVM is muffled and lacks power(this also could be noise in your DVD unit).
    3. Same as above(2) the A/V out function has a set volume and is louder and much clearer than the headphone out jack.( The line out is the A/V out function of the ZVM found in the supplied adaptor that plugs into the bottom of the ZVM)
    To overcome this problem simply use the line out function of the ZVM either through the dongle and an A/V cable or get an after market cable to suit and that should solve your problems with this type application.
    Let us know how you go with it
    Heres the bits
    http://us.creative.com/products/prod...7&product=4484
    Or you can search for a cable that plugs straight into the bottom of the ZVM and has rca's on the other end, you should be able to find then via a search here or through epizenter.net in one of the threads

  • Problems connecting Creative Zen to

    Both of my kids have Creative Zen's which were purchased as gifts in the USA.
    When connected to the PC they are not being recongnised.
    They do not show up as docked and are not seen by eithe the Creative Media Exploer or Windows Media Player.
    They are recognised as new hardware when I plug them in but that's about all. If I try to sync them I get a message saying the player is not found.
    Both players worked on a lap top a week ago. But will not work now on our home PC and I no longe3r have access to the laptop to determine if they still connect via it.
    Any ideas on what could be cuasing this or how to resolve it's

    Hi,
    I also have a Zen Micro..the same thing happened to me and what I did was I Un-Installed all the creative software and drivers from my computer and re-installed them... It worked for me so it might work for your kids!
    Also if you want an easier way to add contacts and use the calender features download this softwareentitled Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update and dated 3 July 2005(you can get it here ---> http://ca.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp)

  • Cant install creative zen explorer and player freezes. I desperately need he

    I have only gotten my zen micro yesterday. While using the installation cd, I could only install creative mediasource, when it comes to the creative zen micro part, it just says installingshield... and the next screen that appears is that my installation is successful. I restarded my computer but nothing associated with zen micro appears. At the same time, my player freezes whenever I plug the usb cable in and my a small window pops out saying that "the usb device is not recognise" whenever the cable is plug in. I've no idea whats wrong with my player because its new and i've no idea what to do as well. anyone help me please? thank you.

    You can install the drivers manually from the CD (they should be in the location DRIVERS\ENGLISH\Drv_Jb3.EXE). Alternati'vely you can download them from Nomadworld.com downloads.
    You can also get the Zen Micro Media Explorer there.

    If you car stereo has an aux input then all you need is a cable. If not, then if your car stereo has a tape player you need a cassette adapter. If there is no tape player then you need an fm transmitter that will broadcast a signal from the player so that you car radio can receive it.

  • [SOLVED]Creative Zen V - libmtp regular user cant access

    Anyone know how to configure libmtp so that a regular user (not root) can access the device? I have searched the forum/wiki but didnt find anything usefull.
    When I run mtp-detect as root it prints alot of info about the device, so I guess its working correctly. Same command as non-root user gives
    [fester]$ mtp-detect
    Found non-autodetected device "Creative Zen V" on USB bus...
    usb_claim_interface(): Operation not permitted
    Connection error.
    No devices.
    [fester]$
    Cant access through amarok either as non-root user.
    Thanks for any help I get!:D

    LOL...solved it myself :oops:
    And incase someone else runs into the same problems, heres how I solved it...
    Make sure you have libmtp installed "pacman -Q libmtp". Add the udev rule one post above and reboot. Plug in player. Start amarok, then go to Settings->Configure Amarok->Media Devices, click Add Device. Choose MTP Media Device from the pulldown menu, give it a name and click OK. Then click Apply then OK. Amarok should now detect the device and you will be able to add files to the player.
    I was clicking Autodetect Device and thats why it wasnt working.... Now I love linux again

  • Cant connect my player - Zen V P

    Hello.
    Im having a serious problem.
    I just cant get my Zen V Plus working.
    If i connect it to the computer it starts to recharge, but win dont recognize it.
    I tryed Win Vista ultimate,Win XP Pro (WMP instaled),whole creative cd software pack,usb program for detecting a connected devices.
    Nothing detects it!
    I also tryed to "reload firmware" and nothing, i just cant have it recognized.
    So now i have player that can only show "recovery mode" and thats all its functions!
    I also tryed change usb drivers and usb port / cables. Same ending.
    What should i do? Im at the end of road and just about to throw that sh** out of window...
    Thx for suggestions

    If you can't connect the device properly via USB, erasing the firmware in recovery mode is NOT a good idea.
    You do NOT need to erase the firmware before upgrading it. You need to download the correct version for your player, and run the executable. The dialogue will tell you when to connect the player. If the connection fails you will still have the old firmware loaded, and you are no worse off than before.
    t player have you got? /2/4/8GB?
    What firmware are you trying to download to it's
    If you haven't got a copy, you can get it via the 'Support->Download' link in the page banner.
    Vista does not always seem to work well for firmware downloads. It works for some, but not for others (including me).
    So try to use XP/SP2 & WMP 0. You don't need the Creative CD installed.
    RUn the firmware executable & connect the player when the dialogue tells you to.
    If it does not find the player, try a different USB port/USB cable/PC

    I have exactly the same problem. Have read through all the posts etc for this and still cant find a solution. My pc doesnt recognise that my zen xtra is connected despite it being connected. The pc is running on vista and yes i know its a windows media player problem - but as yet i am unable to uninstall it. I have been going thru creative tech support who have been no help, basically saying i need to upgrade the firmware on an xp computer. Thats all well and good if i had one or knew someone that had one. So i am currently the holder of a $300+ brick, nice one creative. Surely creative must be liable for this issue?
    you can't remove/rollback wmp from a vista computer & do not attempt to do so

  • Getting Creative Zen player to connect through amarok [SOLVED]

    Edited 12-27 to include new info
    I'm trying to get myCreative Zen player to connect through amarok but am having some problems. After some looking around I figured out the libmtp in the extra repository doesn't support this player, but the newest versions do. I made a new package for libmtp-0.2.4 and installed it since there's been some tweaks that affect this player since 0.2.2 which is in testing. I also had to recompile amarok since one of libs changed a name with the new libmtp. The instructions from libmtp mentioned udev rules needed to be defined, which was done by copying a file from the source code into /etc/udev/rules.d. That file (minus the parts relating to other players, which is pretty much the same as here):
    # UDEV-style hotplug map for libmtp
    # Put this file in /etc/udev/rules.d
    ACTION!="add", GOTO="libmtp_rules_end"
    ATTR{dev}!="?*", GOTO="libmtp_rules_end"
    SUBSYSTEM=="usb", GOTO="libmtp_usb_rules"
    # The following thing will be deprecated when older kernels are phased out.
    SUBSYSTEM=="usb_device", GOTO="libmtp_usb_device_rules"
    GOTO="libmtp_rules_end"
    LABEL="libmtp_usb_rules"
    # Creative ZEN 8GB
    ATTR{idVendor}=="041e", ATTR{idProduct}=="4157", SYMLINK+="libmtp-%k", MODE="666"
    GOTO="libmtp_rules_end"
    LABEL="libmtp_usb_device_rules"
    # Creative ZEN 8GB
    ATTRS{idVendor}=="041e", ATTRS{idProduct}=="4157", SYMLINK+="libmtp-%k", MODE="666"
    GOTO="libmtp_rules_end"
    LABEL="libmtp_rules_end"
    When I plug the player to my usb port dmesg gives
    usb 5-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 8
    usb 5-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
    As my normal user amarok doesn't seem to recognize anything, and mtp-detect gives:
    libmtp version: 0.2.4
    Attempting to connect device(s)
    usb_claim_interface(): Operation not permitted
    LIBMTP PANIC: Unable to initialize device 1
    LIBMTP PANIC: configure_usb_devices() error code: 7 on line 1561
    Detect: There has been an error connecting. Exiting
    As root mtp-detect gives me a bunch of output that seems like it's doing what it should, also while it's spitting this out the screen on the player changes to say it's docked, which wasn't happening as the normal user. This makes me think it's some permissions issue. I did find things from google telling me that sometimes the user needs to be added to a certain group to use libmtp, though it seemed somewhat distro dependent. My main user is in the following groups: dbus hal network audio optical storage scanner camera users thinkpad
    However I don't think my problems are solely permission related, since even as root amarok won't recognize the player. I can use gnomad2 as root, which mostly works, though it crashes when I try and close gnomad after adding music and the player thinks it's still docked even after unplugging it. I had to use a pin to reset it just to turn it off. When I ran it from a console I got the following output at the end after the crash
    PTP: Closing session
    ERROR: Could not close session!
    inep: usb_get_endpoint_status(): Protocol error
    outep: usb_get_endpoint_status(): No such device
    usb_clear_halt() on IN endpoint: No such device
    usb_clear_halt() on OUT endpoint: No such device
    usb_clear_halt() on INTERRUPT endpoint: No such device
    The application 'gnomad2' lost its connection to the display :0.0;
    most likely the X server was shut down or you killed/destroyed
    the application.
    Any suggestions for where to go from here?

    I tried uploading onto my school website, but it doesn't seem accessable from there. However I just modified the version number from the regular Pkgbuild file from abs. What I have is:

    I've been meaning to post an update about my issues. I've figured out that when I connect the player it creates device nodes with the root group.  Some have permissions set to 666, which seems to fit with the udev rules I posted. But some of them are only rw for owner and group, others only have read permissions. As a test I tried changing the permissions by hand to 666, and I can use gnomad as my regular user, though it's buggy and seems to crash randomly (not just when I transfer files like I originally thought). I haven't been able to test what amarok does, since for some reason it stopped working this weekend and I haven't had a chance to figure out what happened. It seems there some problem with the udev rules, but I don't know much about how that works to figure out what's going wrong.

  • Creative ZEN 4GB is not connecting with

    Hello Everybody!
    I've bought CREATIVE ZEN 4GB mp3 player, and after some two months, i can not connect the player with pc. So i reinstalled my windows, because i thought it was some problems with whem. After installation, everything worked twice, and then, is the same problem happened. So i reinstalled windows a second time, but doesn't matter, how many times i reinstall them, it's same problem. After that, i've tried to contact costumer support, but all they tried to help me, was unsuccessful. So few weeks ago, i deleted the MTP Device from "device manager" And now, all the time i have a bubble on the left lower side at the screen, with a note: "Found New Hardware: MTP Device" And i can't turn it of, every time i do that, it shows again. At device manager, on MTP device i have yellow exclamation mark. When i'am trying to update driver, i have this error: There was a problem installing this hardware: MTP Device.
    This Device Cannot Start (Code0)
    The only thing i can do, charge my mp3 player. And sometimes i using the player on the really old computer, and its works properly, but the worst thing, that the old computer is not mine anymore, so i can't do anything with a mp3 player.
    So if someone, has problem like this, and someone, who resolved it, please help me. I like this player very much, and i dont want to change it.
    Thank You!

    Yes, it is possible. On the right hand side of the player is the slider to turn on the player, push the slider upwards to the lock position and the screen will turn off. That is the Hold mode. At this mode, all the buttons would be inaccessible to prevent accidental pressing of the buttons. This is the mode to use when you are just playing music and do not need the display.
    To unhold the player, just push the slider to the middle position and all the way down to turn it off.

  • Develop software for connecting to creative zen touch and other devices not recognized by wind

    hi there,
    as a programmer i wonder, is it possible to obtain information of how to connect to usb-connected creative device (which is not recognized automatically by windows, as the zen touch) and how to communicate with it's is there any documentation about that available to "non-creative" ;-) developers?
    the idea is to create a plugin (e.g. for musikcube) that enables the programm to access the files on the device.
    i know there are third party companies that do provide software for connecting to e.g. zen touch, but i do not think that they have figured out every little bit by themselves, have they?
    greetings and thanks a lot
    asdf

    Try this:
    Download <a href='http://www.delldjsite.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=444' target=_blank>this[/url] file. Extract it to whatever folder you like. Inside that folder run the file fixup.cmd. A DOS window will open up and start display messages on what its doing, when its done it will instruct you to remove the device from Device Manager and reconnect it.
    Try this and see if it works.
