Cant connect iphone 4 to netgear router

I am unable to connect my 2 new iphones to our Netgear Router.
Even when I have NONE selected under wireless options on Netgear router it will still not let me join.
I have a Netgear N300 Wireless ADSL2 + Modem Router DGN2200
I spent 90 mins on the phone with OPtus as they supplied the wireless router but they couldn't help and they then transferred me to Netgear Support who want $89 to assist.
Can anyone help me please
Thanks
Jen

  • How to connect iPhone 5 to Netgear router

After spening several hours on the phone with an Apple rep trying to figure out why my new iPhone 5 would not connect to my Netgear router. I decided to google Netgear router and iPhone. I stumbled on this discussion from defiantmacho dated August 2008 -
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1686716?start=0&tstart=0.
I followed this instructions and my iPhone connected within min. I know that it's the long way around the issue but hey it works. If I would have found this on Thursday, I would have save myself so much time. The Apple Support team need to be made aware of these work around instructions.

Ok guys. This is the simple way i used to connect my iPhone to my Netgear router. Netgear can be a pain in the butt!, You should have followed the router's installation instructions to the letter first. Usually you will have to turn your modem and router off, then connect the ethernet cable from the modem (out) to the router (in), and then turn the router on first. Then, turn the modem on a few seconds later. Your computer should then be connected from the router (not the modem) via ethernet as well. After all is done, open your browser and type the address given by your router's instructions (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.2), then login. If none of it works, use a pen to reset the Netgear router and repeat everything I mentioned above.
THEN, after all that is set:
    1. In your iPhone, go to Settings>General>About. Then, scroll down to "Wi-Fi Address". This is your MAC address. This you will need in order to authorize your phone in your Netgear page (which usually looks something like XXX.XXX.X.X (where "X" are numbers)). I already gave the addresses above.
    2. Log in to you Netgear page (remember "admin" as generic username and "password" or "1234" as the generic password?. I am assuming you read the router's instructions, right?. I mean, come on, it's only a double sided page!
    3. On the blue left panel of the screen that comes up after user and password entry, click on "Wireless Settings". A new page comes up.
    4. Check mark both boxes and click on "Setup Access List".
    5. Check mark "Turn Access control On", then click on "Add" to enter the require info needed for your phone to gain access to your network.
    6. On "Device Name" I entered "iPhone". This name is irrelevant, so enter whatever name you wish, but keep it simple.
    7. Now, on "Mac Address" (the single most important info here) enter the number you obtained in Step 1. Make sure you enter it with the colons (:), although I found out it can be entered without them as well and the page formats it for you .
    8. Add and apply, and wait for the blue bar at the top of the screen to do its thing. It will take only a few seconds to update the network.

You can use Photo Transfer App to transfer photos from iPhone to iPad or vice versa using Bluetooth or WiFi

  • Anyone know why I can't connect to my boyfriends Netgear router - he uses A

I have been into the control panel for the router etc and checked user names and passwords etc, but it just wont accept the pwords - is this an AOl thing you think?

There are several things to check, besides the password and user names. For example, have you been able to get other wireless devices to connect to the same wireless router? What version of the wireless standard are you using? For example, the iPod touch only supports 802.11b/g (the first and second gen.) Could it be that the netgear router is set only to broadcast an 802.11a signal? Then the iPod wouldn't pick it up or connect. Finally, it could be the type of wireless security you are using. The most common are WEP and WPA/WPA2 (recommended to use WPA2, as it is the newest).
    Hope that helps,
    Tomek

  • Can't connect Airport Express to Netgear router's network

Apple Airport Express doesn't see my new network. It sees my old ActionTec router network but not my Netgear router (WNR1000v3). I only use Airport Express for Airplay audio, not for extending wifi range. Do I need to change a Netgear router setting?

Alright. So after all that: calling Netgear, ISP and Apple customer service I fixed it myself by... get ready for it... unplugging Airport Express and plugging it back in. For some reason the AE's were seeing my old network and like 7 of my neighbors but they needed to restart to identify my new network. I hope someone else gets helped by my naivety in the future. BTW, Apple Care was awesome. My first time calling and hardly any wait time.

  • Wifi connection with netgear router DG824M - one solution

I have had some problems with connecting iphone via wifi with my home router
    Netgear DG824M
I'm still having a problem with the encryption issue but have at least found one solution to another security issue and thought it might help others so i am posting:-
If you have mac address filtering turned on (netgear describes this as only "trusted PC's" can connect) , you may find that you get an IP Address clash when you try to connect your iphone (or some other apple equipment)
I found that this resolved if i selected an "reserved IP address" for the iphone - in my casei chose 192.168.0.10 (since the router allows up to .51)
(the phone otherwise took 192.168.0.3 which clashed with another device)
This was not an issue when "trusted pc's" feature was turned off on the router

Ok guys. This is the simple way i used to connect my iPhone to my Netgear router.
    1. In your iPhone, go to Settings>General>About. Then, scroll down to "Wi-Fi Address". This is your MAC address. This you will need in order to authorize your phone in your Netgear page (which usually looks something like XXX.XXX.X.X (where "X" are numbers)).
    2. Log in to you Netgear page.
    3. On the blue left panel of the screen, click on "Wireless Settings". A new page comes up.
    4. Click on "Setup Access List".
    5. Click on "Add" to enter the require info needed for your phone to gain access to your network.
    6. On "Device Name" I entered "iPhone". This name is irrelevant for i named my iPhone differently and using just "iPhone" worked. So enter whatever name you wish, but keep it simple.
    7. Now, on "Mac Address" (the single most important info here) enter the number you obtained in Step 1. Make sure you enter it with the colons (:).
    8. Add and apply, and wait for the blue bar at the top of the screen to do its thing. It will take only a few seconds to update the network.
    That's all! Connect and enjoy!
I hope this was helpful. Let me know if it worked at [email protected]

  • AirPort Utility can't find Netgear router OR new AirPort Express

    Hello,
I couldn't find my situation fully addressed in older posts, so I'm posting one myself.
I am trying to EXTEND my current network with a newly purchased AirPort Express. My equipment is as follows:
Comcast modem connected via ethernet cable to...
    Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 R7000 dual-band router
One three-year-old Mac Mini running Lion
One newer MacBook Pro running Mavericks
Two iPhone 4S, latest software updated as of Nov. 2014
Two-year-old iPad, latest software updated as of Nov. 2014
Newly purchased AirPort Express as of Nov. 2014
We have a large house with an office at the extreme end resulting in a week signal, so I need to extend my network. The Netgear router sends a strong signal otherwise, and ALL devices are working properly and are fully connected to the WIFI network.
    So here is the problem:
I've tried many, many times to connect the APE using AP Utility with only two successful connections, but these connections were to "Join Existing Network" not to extend that network, but I selected this option as it seemed closest to what I want to do since "extension" of network was not an option. Then I see that I can edit the APE within AP Utility. I've done so, resetting the unit as a network extender, and the two times I tried this I sat waiting for five minutes for the thing to update only to get an error message. At this junction I could do nothing but remove the APE in AP Utility by "forgetting" it. No other options were available that I could see.
Now, the two times I've done the above, were two times within 20+ attempts to get AirPort Utility to even see the darn thing. I've tried placing the APE near the Netgear router, moderately close (other side of room) and even at the far end of the house, and neither the APE or the Netgear router were ever found in the AP Utility save the two incidences mentioned above. I've scoured the net, rechecked all connections and performed all troubleshooting procedures I can find to no avail. All I get is a flashing amber light and no connection
A: Why won't AirPort Utility find my Netgear Router?
B: Why won't AirPort utility find my AirPort Express?
C: Why, on the two occasions the AP Utility did find the APE, did it not give me the option anywhere to set it up as an EXTENDER to the current network?
D: Is there any other way to add the APE to my network as desired without using AP Utility? (I do have the Negear Genie app, but I don't see options for adding a device for network extension so far)
I'm at wits end. Can anyone help?
Oh, and I've tried using AP Utility on both Macs listed above with the same results.
    Thanks for your help!

A: Why won't AirPort Utility find my Netgear Router?
AirPort Utility works only with an Apple router, as does the utility for a Netgear work only with a Netgear router.
B: Why won't AirPort utility find my AirPort Express?
Any of 3-4 common reasons. We'll have to work on troubleshooting that.
C: Why, on the two occasions the AP Utility did find the APE, did it not give me the option anywhere to set it up as an EXTENDER to the current network?
Apple designed the wireless "extend" feature on their routers to only work with other Apple routers.
D: Is there any other way to add the APE to my network as desired without using AP Utility?
    No
Not sure how you want to proceed at this point. It might be possible to use the AirPort Express to extend the Netgear network if you connect it using a permanent, wired Ethernet cable connection back to the Netgear router.
If you cannot run the Ethernet cable, your best bet by far is to use another Netgear extender or repeater, which would likely be compatible with your Netgear router.

  • Cant connect to wi-fi network

Wifi down sinds friday. Error: Cant connect to network (network name)
Router is a Linksys by Cisco model: WRT160Nv3
    Ipod touch 3g
Ofc i checked my password first, and the wi-fo is working fine with 2 pc's.
    Here is what i tried:
    -Resetting router
    -Resetting network on ipod.
-Trew ipod out of the network and put it in again
-Put in mac adres from the ipod in the router mauanly (turned off mac filter after that did not work)
-Put ipod on static and put all the info in manualy
    -WPA 2 to WPA
-Put in network manuanly by seclecting 'other'
-Connected to another wi-fi netwerk no problem
DHCP on router is on, but the ipod is getting no info.
I can see the ipod on my network, but the network tells me its offline.
Ive had the ipod for a week (so its up to date), took me a day to get it connected then....i still have no idea how but it worked out of the blue.
Ive had the router for 2 weeks, so its upto date.
Router can handel 50 connections, i have 2 pc's a ndsi and the ipod.
I think it has to be something in the security (although i have not changed anything on the router before friday). When i disable all security it works just fine.....
So, what im i doing wrong...its driving me nuts.

I read another thread and someone said changing the SSID and password fixed it for them. Also, even though your router is new I would still make sure it has up-to-date firmware. They don't always update it from the manufacturer.
When I first installed iOS 4 on my iPod it asked for my password a couple of times and told me it was wrong until I would turn off wifi then try to reconnect. I reset the network setting on the iPod and later did a full restore to a new iPod(for other reasons) and I haven't had a problem yet. I have a linksys wrt54g router that's about 5-6 years old running dd-wrt firmware. I never restarted or messed with any settings on it to fix my wifi issue.
Personally I think the upgrade from iOS 3 to iOS 4 messes things up but when you restore and it reinstalls iOS 4 on iOS 4 things seem to work properly.
