Cant connect ipod to itunes. What should i do?, Cant connect ipod to itunes. What should i do?

I tried to connect ipod tocuh to windows xp laptop but cant get it to be recognized by itunes and it has problems connecting to the computer itself.it can connect to the other laptop though.

Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:
Mac: OS X v10.5.8 or later
PC: Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
iTunes 10.5 or later (free download from www.itunes.com/download)
Are these requirements met ?
Is the PC virus-free ?
is XP at SP3 ?
Has it any other issues with USB hardware in general ?

I have just bought the new i touch and synced my songs from my itunes to the itouch. However, the songs appear on my ipod when it is connected to the itunes but aren't actually on my ipod.
    What should I do?

    Hi Hirra,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you've synced your iPod touch with iTunes, but the music doesn't appear on the device, you may want to try setting up syncing in iTunes again by following the steps in the right article below. If you're syncing music, try un-checking and then re-checking the "Sync music" checkbox in iTunes.

  • I cant reset my iPod Touch 4th Gen because my home button is broken for one, the screen is completely unresponsive like full black and iTunes wont pick it up when connected to my PC

any other way of resetting? I need all of my data that was on it before.

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. Hope this helps. Good luck. Cheers.

  • I have both an iPod and Ipad 2. Latest I have sync. ipod. Now when I want to sync. iPad 2 in iTunes its only iPod mentioned in sync. window and it does not help to connect iPad. its not shown in iTunes. What to do next?

I have both an iPod and iPad 2. Latest I have sync. iPod and now I want to sync iPad, but iPad is not shown in iTunes when connected. I have the latest iTunes version.

If your computer starts image capture or some other camera software you should be able to quit that and then your iPad will show up in iTunes. Mine does this all the time.
The preference on what to start up when a "camera" is connected is found in Image Capture. So start Image Capture. It's in the applications > Utility folder. Then look for preferences. In my version it's in the lower left corner. Select None or Nothing and quit the program. From then on your iPad should show correctly in iTunes. But you will most likely have to start your smear software manually when you do connect a camera to your computer.

    Hi Becki ..
You need to "authorize" the Mac.
Launch iTunes on the Mac then from the iTunes menu bar top of your screen click Store > Authorize This Computer.
Now, using the same Apple ID as you used to purchased iTunes media originally, you should be able to sync all your content.

  • I am trying to put the music from my ipod onto my new computer. After installing itunes and connecting my ipod touch a message comes up saying that my ipod is already synced with another library. What can I do to sync it with a new library?

I recently got a new computer and got rid of my old one. I am trying to put the music from my ipod touch onto my new computer but keep getting a message saying that my ipod is already synced with a library and cannot be synced with more than one. How do I access that library on my new computer and if I can't are their other ways for me to put the music on my ipod into my new computer?

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your ipod. Only if you back up your iPod manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your ipod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your iPod for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the ipod for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

Hello and good afternoon, my IPod Touch is neither in windows explorer nor in iTunes to be seen. When I turn my IPod on, i shall connect it to my computer; but when I do so, nothing happens. What can I do, please ???

Take a look at the troubleshooting steps provided by Apple in this support article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
    Hope those help.
Your iPod touch will never appear in Windows Explorer, by the way. It doesn't have the "disk mode" that the older iPods did.
    Regards.

  • I have the iPod touch and I had iTunes on my computer. I was prompted to update my itunes. When I was going to, it said first I should sync my ipod, so, with it connected to my laptop, and itunes on, I did so. Now that it finished, it's messed up!

First of all, I have an iPod Touch which is connected thru my Windows 7 laptop. It has been working find up til now.  I have been prompted to dl the latest iTunes update, so I clicked to do so. But I was advised to sync my iPod first, which I did. As soon as that was finished, I got an Apple logo on my iPod and an an empty loading bar.  I went to a discussion forum on Google where they said "uninstall iTunes" so I did. I then re-installed iTunes 10 and nothing changed, so I uninstalled it again.  One thing I noted was that "Deborahs iPod" was no longer on iTunes when I did re-install it. So now I am at the point where I have a "dead" iPod with only Apple logo and bar against a black bg and nothing else. And I do not currently have iTunes installed on my laptop. My iPod is plugged into it.  What do I do know???  Thanks very much for any help.

    - Do you have to right boxes checked in the Tones pane of iTunes for the iPod to get them synced to the iPod:
    - Were the tones purchased with the same account as all the other media on the iPod?

my ipod touch is showing the "connect to itunes" screen.. and on connecting to itunes and clicking on "restore" it shows error 3014.. what do i do?

Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.
