i got a 610n and i have a 1 gig hd attached to it an di cant delet files? i have called etch suport they said you cant once you write them you only have read and write access? whats that tyheres got to be a way to delet them. i trind from my computer from within the router window nothing gets them deleted says you cant do it or it says read write only...theres got to be a way to do this anyone please...tech support says you cant do it but i dont belive that

care to explain. i have 13 disks to acess...i update them two tyimes a year and i have to deleat them each time how do i delte them ?

I don't know when this started but it was two days ago I noticed this. I have changed all the permissions in info to allow me to have read write access to all my hardrives(2) which are both segmented. May have started when I put in the second HD and now I have three systems installed.
I did erase the com.apple.recentitems.plist -- which did not do anything.
I was able to send a copy of the file from my CD via iCHat with no problem.
Originally it would not allow me to move any files even on the harddrives. Not it seem related to the CD's

Once something similar happened to me. The external drives I had set up for FCP to use for some reason were not mounted, and FCP put all its render files on the main drive and I couldn't find them anywhere.
Go to applications, and control-click (and hold down) on your FCP icon; you should get a pop up menu that says "show package contents". Select that, select the "contents" folder, then the "mac OS" folder. See if your quicktime file is in there, or if you've got render files in the "render" folder or audio render files in the "audio render" folder that don't belong there.
That's where FCP sticks stuff when your documents FCP project folders are not available or when external drives you've selected aren't available.

There's a good chance that you can if you haven't done too much work after deleting it. Typically files are not actually wiped from the hard drive, rather the space they take is marked as free to use by another file if needed. So if it hasn't been used by another file it can be recovered.

when u plug in your phone to your computer, on your phone select data transfer. If an error message apears on your phone saying its unable to connect, restart your phone and plug it in again. after selecting data transfer, your phone's memory should appear as a flash drive on your computer. select images for your pictures. the pictures are in folders arranged in date order. for videos go to the videos folder. the videos are in MP4 format.

Cant transfer files from phone to pc

I am trying to transfer a file from my pc to another pc using my phone
I have a 1 gb memory card in my phone and the file is only 800 kb so there is loads of space. I put the file on my phone and when I try to take it off of my phone and put it on the other pc it only transfers a folder not the file.
I have Nokia PC Suite 6 on both computers
XP on both coms service pack 2 on both
when dragging file off of phone and putting it in the folder I want it in the file is highlighted RED and doesnt work
what can I do ???

Files are files (a bunch of bits with a name). PC Suite does not care what the files contain, if you use PC Suite to copy the file to one phone, and then PC Suite on another PC to copy the file from the phone.
Something else is going wrong here, and most likely it is just a mistake in using PC Suite, rather than anything else.
Which phone (model) do you have?
And how, exactly, do you copy the file to the phone with PC Suite?
And did you try without PC Suite; connect the phone in USB mass storage (data transfer) mode? That way the phone appears as an USB drive and PC Suite is not involved at all.

Cant execute files from Terminal In /Users/me/bin. Only in /usr/bin

I have about 30 Snow Leopard machines in my Bioinformatics lab with one central box where I distribute programs.
All of our scripts/programs are command line based.
When I SCP a program to the target machine, I drop it in /Users/BioLab/bin/
I am usually never able to execute the file from the Terminal just by typing its filename on the target machine. I can if I move the file to /usr/bin or of I create a symbolic link in that folder I always can.
On random boxes I am able to execute files in /Users/BioLab/bin/ from Terminal. Why is this so inconsistant?
What do I have to do to these machines to run files in /Users/BioLab/bin/ straight from Terminal w/o moving them to /usr/bin?

You modify the PATH environment variable on the systems to include /Users/BioLab/bin/
export PATH="$PATH:/Users/BioLab/bin/"
Your choice are to modify the .bash_profile for every user account on every Mac, or modify the /etc/profile on every Mac, or create a /etc/paths.d/BioLab entry on every Mac (look at one of the existing /etc/paths.d entries as an example).

Cant pass file from a dir to fileinputstream()

i am stuck here ..please help.
I have an application that creates a dir called temp in home directory . and and a file which is named in following format. for example
080718002220.txt
i.e. systemdate.ext type . Since this files are created in real time and has no specific file name .How would i pass it to fileinputstream() .
Note : only one file will be there at a time but has no fixed file name as is mentioned in tutorials.
Is there a way to pass either the naming pattern or file extention to do select the file .??

A hint: you can peruse a directory for its contents.
A sidenote: *.* denotes the working directory, which might be different from the home directory.

Cant copy files from a crushed hard disk

I use macbook pro (bought few months ago from the US) with 10.6.3 OS. I had a 500GB hard disk and had MacOS and Windows 7 installed through Parallel's Plesk.
Few days ago, the computer frooze and i had to reboot. Once i reboot, i got the flashing folder with question mark logo. Googled and found out that my hard disk may have crushed. I replaced it with another 500GB hard disk.
Now this is what happened:
1. I installed MacOS again on the new hard drive
2. Got a SATA disk connecter and connected my old drive, MacOS recognized the disk and the two partitions were opened with errors. The main partition where i have all my files were there. I actually was able to get most of my files.
3. I used migration wizard to move all my settings, applications to the new hard disk but i failed to migration the /users folder. It keeps saying calculating... and never finishes.
4. I tried to copy files manually but it seems like all files are locked! I could not change the file permissions.
I googled and found out a software called testdisk to repair partitions, followed all steps but failed. I kept getting message that the partiion table is corrupt or resource busy. I run pdisk and get the following error message:

If this drive physically died, then it would have been covered under the warranty, since the machine is only a few months old. However, that does not sound like what happened.

If you're able to mount this drive, then it wasn't physically damaged and did not need to be replaced. In the future, you need to verify that the disk is dead before spending the money on replacing it!
In order to repair the drive, you can try Disk Utility, which is in the Utilities folder in your Applications folder. If Disk Utility is unable to repair it, try [DiskWarrior|http://www.alsoft.com/DiskWarrior/index.html] or [TechTool Pro|http://www.micromat.com>. I'm not sure what this "testdisk" software is, I've never heard of it.
If these three utilities are not able to repair the drive, there's no repairing it. Your only choice will be to use a data recovery tool, like [Data Rescue|http://www.prosofteng.com> or [File Salvage|http://subrosasoft.com/OSXSoftware/index.php?mainpage=product_info&productsid=1]. If those don't work, you'll have to pay the big money for a data recovery service.
Of course, all this could have been easily avoided. You MUST have backups of any data you don't want to lose! If you had a backup, you could have simply erased the hard drive and restored from the backup. Cant access files from Mavericks Partition

I have OS X Lion and Mavericks installed on the one SSD of my MBP. I want to access my music, pictures, movies and so fourth from my Mavericks Partition on my Lion one. But whenever I goto the Mavericks partition folder there are all these small stop signs on each folder, denying me access. I have tried right clicking and going to share and allowing all users access. But this doesn't work. And suggestions on how I can access the data on both OSs??

Generally, that's what you see when accessing files stored under a different User name. Are you using the same User name for both partitions? I always use the same user name for different OS X partitions.

i dont know if i have the new or the old ipad, but i cant connect to itunes to do that. itunes gives me a message saying i need to upgrade so it cant run its software. but to upgrae it i need to connect to itunes so im basically stuck.
the itunes on my computer is 11. something so its fully up to date.
on my ipad it says iOS 6.0.1 so i dunno if thats up to date or not.

OS 10.6 - Really annoying bug, cant open files from finder

I recently bought a MacBook Pro and it is my first Mac I upgraded to SL a while ago as well.
When I try to open a PDF-document for example from finder, the previewapplication that is supposed to open PDF-docs just jumps up and down in the dock for 30 secs or something and then stops. To open a document I have to first open the application, and from there open the document
The same goes for other documents like DOC that are supposed to open in pages, and images that should open in the previewapp as well.
Another example is torrentfiles. Clicking on a torrentfile is supposed to open Transmission, and it tries to open. Transmission jumps in the dock for a while but nothing happens. To open the torrentfile, I have to open it from inside transmission.
The strange thing is that sometimes this problem is not here (short period of time after reboot), but returns!
I would be very glad if you could help me fix this!

Maybe it's just a corrupted preference file.
Locate this file.
com.apple.Preview.plist
~/Library/Preferences.
Move that file to the Trash and reboot your Mac.

For Transmissions. Right or control click a torrent file then click: Get Info. In the Get Info window look down, you will see: Open with. (You may have to click the disclosure triangle). Click the pop up menu. If Transmission isn't listed, click: Other and navigate to the Applications folder and select Transmission.
If necessary, same with PDF documents you want to have Preview open.

I am using Oracle Database 10g on Linux OS
I want to delete some file using PL-SQL for that I have written following program.

but when I execute this I get a error message as
error is = ORA-29283: invalid file operation
but the Directory Name and File name are valid, though the error is there .Why?

It probably has to do with the permissions and file ownership of the target file on the server.
I tried the same code. I was able to delete a file where the owner was 'oracle' , and got the same error you have mentioned while trying to delete a file of another user with wrong permissions.

I cant save files from Indesign CC

I instaled the New CC and now i can only save files directly to the desktop on my mac. If i try to put them in any folder they will not save and Indesign crashes. I am having the same issue with Photoshop & illustrator.

This doesn't sound like a known issue with InDesign and I cannot produce the issue on my end.
Have you tried resetting your InDesign preferences? If this doesn't work, how about launching the software under a new administrative user account?

As the issue persists cross products, something might've gone wrong during installation.
