After 'updating' the newest iTunes version, I cannot sync my iPod Nano!  The 'old' version recognized and showed in icon to sync, but the newest version does not.  Is there a way to sync the older iPods?

  • Updated to newest iTunes version, now it won't recognize my iPhone.

Hey everyone. Was just looking for some tips or added feedback for an issue I'm having.
I went to do the iOS7 update for my iPhone 4. My iTunes told me that I had to have the "Newest Version of iTunes (11.1.whatever) to update to iOS 7, Do you want to Download now?"
So i clicked "Download" and away we went. After it finished, I restarted my computer like I always do after I install to software. I have Windows 8 by the way. When I started up iTunes and plugged in my device, nothing happened. No button in the top right appeared. So I ran the iTunes diagnostic, and it said no device was found. It shows up in "My Computer" as Landon's iPhone 4. So I know it's connected. I found the troubleshooting page for this on Apple's website, and did EVERYTHING. Still won't recognize my phone.
Has anyone else run into this problem? How was it resolved? Any tips or tricks would be helpful!! Thanks in advance!!
    Landon

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

I don't believe the iOS7 update was the cause for your issue. I have three devices all updated and they all show the Import To drop menu in Image Capture as shown below.

I have synced my IPhone 3GS to the newest iTunes version to get IMessage, it worked for a while but now it doesn't work and I have tried resyncing my phone but it still doesn't work. what should I do?

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.
If you have been through ALL of the troubleshooting steps and you're still having problems, then you'll need to bring your phone to Apple for investigation.

  • HT1199 I have a desktop mac operating on Mac OSx 10.4.11 and the system does not recognize my iphone and I am unable to upgrade to the newest itunes version. What do I need to do?

I have a desktop mac operating on Mac OSx 10.4.11 and the system does not recognize my iphone and I am unable to upgrade to the newest itunes version. What do I need to do?

    Backup first
It is always best to have a full bootable backup before you upgrade. If you fail to do this you will be unable to return to this OS if you decide you don't like the new OS. Also there is a slight chance that an install could lose everything on the Mac. The backup must be to an external hard disk. Preferably use Carbon Copy Cloner to make a bootable backup of the whole disk.
    Erase before the install
Once you have a bootable backup on an external disk it is best to erase the internal disk with the new installer DVD before you install.
    During the install
Preferably do not import any data or preferences from earlier OSs during the install process as this can reintroduce bugs.
    OS numbers and names
    OS X 10.4.x - Tiger
    OS X 10.5.x - Leopard
    OS X 10.6.x - Snow Leopard
    OS X 10.7.x - Lion
    OS X 10.8.x - Mountain Lion

The Apple History site has specifications for every Mac ever produced: http://www.apple-history.com/
    Upgrade to Leopard
Those wishing to upgrade to Leopard should be aware that install disks can be expensive unless you contact Apple. Details: http://lowendmac.com/deals/best-os-x-leopard-prices.html Standard Leopard installers impose several hardware limitations including speed and RAM size but all these restrictions can be overcome. Google for details. Leopard works well at 500 MHz with 1 GB of RAM and many happy users have less than this.
    Upgrade beyond Leopard
OSs beyond OS X 10.5.8 require an Intel processor. If in doubt check this: Click the apple at the top left of your screen and select 'About this Mac'. This will give you your OS number. Then click 'More Info' to see which processor you have. If it says PowerPC you cannot upgrade to Snow Leopard and above. If you have an Intel Mac it is well worth upgrading to Snow Leopard now and then considering other options after that. You can buy Snow Leopard here: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A
    Upgrade beyond Snow Leopard

    Important
Check that your Mac complies with any requirements. If you are not in the US you should use the Change Country link at the bottom of Apple pages.

  • SnS-Superuse cant delete video files

    Hello all,
    Is the following behaviour acceptable?
The default SnS superuser account cant delete other user's uploaded video files!!!
Instead, the video file must be deleted by the same user!
How do you tackle with this?
    Thank you

I agree that it would be great if the superuser could delete any video file and I think it should be an option, but I have found that only the user that uploaded the file can delete it.

    Welcome to the Apple boards:
It sometimes happens. Usually it's the result of a permissions error.
Drag the file out of the trash bin onto your desktop and then run the disk utility, found in the Utilities folder
Select and run, repair permissions and let it run - it takes up to 1/2 hour - and ignore the time-to-complete indicater - it lies
After that, see if you can now delete the .dmg.
If not post back, we have other ways to deal with sticky issues like this.

    Hi,
Shut down the PC.  Tap away at f8 as you start the PC to enter Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode and hit enter.  When windows has loaded in this mode, see if you can now successfully delete the file.  To exit Safe Mode, restart the PC and Windows will start as normal.
