Cant delete recurring event from iMac to Macbook Air

I Cant delete recurring event from iMac to Macbook Air.
I have an event scheduled for Wednesday each week, I delete it at end of day. If i delete it on my Macbook Air it deletes fine on my iMac just fine. But if i delete it on my iMac first it stays on my Macbook Air...
I check the preferences and both computers are configured the same way..
It use to work before i upgraded both computers to Yosemite...

Yes and no. AirDrop is used to send a file from one computer to another. A Contact isn't a file so AirDrop isn't the best way to move contacts from one computer to another. If you own both an iMac and MBA and want to keep the two computers synced, the easiest way is to create an iCloud account on both computers. Any calendar event, to do, contact, or note you create on one will sync to the other. If you just bought a MBA and want to move data to it from your iMac you should use Apple's migration assistant. Personally I think the easiest way to migrate is to perform a backup of the old computer to a USB external drive using TimeMachine and then connect the TimeMachine to the new computer and use Migration Assistant.
But can you exchange contacts using AirDrop? Yes. Select the contact(s) you want to transfer, export them as vcards to a temporary folder. Then AirDrop the folder to your MBA. Now run Contacts and then drag the vcards onto the Contacts program icon in the Dock.

I love Lion, it's been problem free and it has so many useful features (Air Drop for one, multi screen on the MBA for another). I think as with all things that sell on the scale Lion has, some people will always be disappointed and some will always have problems. I am happy to say neither were issues for me and I wouldn't go back to SL now.

  • How to use Lightroom from iMac and Macbook Air so that I can edit any/all photos in my catalog?

I have lightroom catalog setup on my desktop (iMac).  But, I would like to edit photos from my new MacBook Air when I have the free time.  How do I set this up so that any edits done on my laptop sync with my desktop catalog?

    Craig:
In the future you might look into an external FW hard drive from which you can operate the library.  Then, if you need to move it to another machine just unplug the drive and and plug it in to the other Mac.  For the MacBook Air you'd probably want a small (physical size) buss powered drive that would be an easy travel mate.
For future projects, particularly books, consider creating a separate library for it.  You can assemble the photos you want in it in an album in your primary library and use iPhoto Library Manager to copy that album to the project library.  They are often small enough that then can be copied to a flash drive for transfer to other Macs.

  • Import iPhoto events from iMac to MacBook Pro.

I have an iMac and MacbookPro. My iMac is the "mothership" of the two.  When I download photos or music, I always download it to my iMac.  In the past, I was able to transfer events from iPhoto on my Mac to my MacBook Pro.  For some reason, I can't do it.  In iphoto, the left hand colum, there was a way to transfer photos, but I can't.  How can I import iPhoto events from my iMac to my Macbookpro?

If you always import to the iMac then the simple way is to back up the Library on the iMac to the MBP.
Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store

  • Transferring iPhoto from iMac to MacBook Air

For years I have had no problem keeping iPhoto synced between my iMac and my MacBook.  I have a new Air and for the first time ever I am having trouble.
I copied over the whole iPhoto package the  first day and all was well.  Then I made some changes on my iMac and used Chronosync to update the Air.  But when I did that, despite no synicing errors, it looked like it did before.  No new pictures.
I finally got feed up and completely deleted the iPhoto package on the air and copied the whole thing over from the iMac.  It looks just like it did after the sync, the last import photo on the Air is a couple of day old and it the last import folders do not match.
So I moved the iPhoto file on the Air to the shared folder and opened iPhoto as a different Admin user.  No help.
    I am stymied.

OK this is what it turned out to be.
On my iMac a few days ago I opened iPhoto and it said the program was corrupt, not the library.  So I deleted it and installed iLife 11.  Then I tried to open iPhoto but it said I needed to update.
A few of the updates for iPhoto must be installed one at a time rather than just using the most recent update.  So I stopped one short of getting it fully up to date.
But it let me open the library.  I then added a few photos.
But since my MacBook Air was on the latest update it was interpreting the library differntly.  Those new photos weren't showing up.
When I updated the iMac to the latest version those same pictures went missing on the iMac.  Very strange but at least one of the most vexing Mac problems I have ever had is solved.
Luckily I still have access to those "missing" photos.

  • I have transferred my documents from iMac to macbook air, but when I try to read then I get the message "This document is too old.  Download it to version 09.  How do I do that?

I have transferred my pages documents from my macbook pro to my macbook air, but I cannot read them as I get the message "This document is too old.  Download to version 09".  How do I do that?  I spent over an hour on the phone to a technician at Apple but he was no help.

I have the same issue having replaced my 07 iMac for a new iMac, I was using iWork 08 (Pages) and all my Pages documents cannot be read by the latest iWork (Pages).  I get the same message and, although I have worked out that any that had been exported to Word format can be read and then re-saved, I cannot now open the purely Pages documents to export them to Word first.  I am amazed that the new Pages cannot read Pages 08 document but can continue to read Word ones!  So, how can I get my hands on Pages 09, so that I can re-save them in the current Pages format?

  • Transferring Time Machine access from iMac to Macbook Air

I have a five year old iMac and recently bought a MacBook Air. I want to eventually get rid of the iMac and use the MBA but I still want to have access to Time Machine files that backed up the iMac using my MBA.
I'm thinking I can probably do this via Migration Assistant, from the Time Machine drive to the MBA. The only problem I foresee though is that my MBA has a fraction of the hard drive space of  the original iMac and therefore, I can't do a straight clone.
Is there a way I can set this up so I have the iMac fully backed up to Time Machine and then make those files accessible via the MBA, thereby eliminating the need to keep the iMac simply for the HD?
    Thanks.

    Thanks for your clarification questions.
The Time Machine backup is on an external drive (firewire/USB).
The goal would be to migrate both user accounts as well as applications and settings. Obviously, I can't port everything over given the HD size limiations on the MBA but I think I've figured out what's essential and what is not.
#1 makes sense (though would likely require the purchase of a new external HD).
#2: How would I "replace that account with the User Account on your Time Machine backup"? Is this the same external drive that the Time Machine files already reside upon? Or a new one?
#3 & 4: I already considered both of these but I think that leads back to #1 (i.e. the likely need to have another HD)
    Thanks again.

  • How to download files from iMac to MacBook Air

I have an iMac and time capsule.  I bought a MacBook Air for travel.  I need to be able to copy apps and files from the iMac to the MacBook Air.  I figured I could use time capsule for that but have no clue how to do it.  Should be easy, so thought I'd ask bef

thank you for the quick reply.  I have turned on file sharing on my iMac and went to server connect on the Air.  I am connected to time capsule.  Now what?  It shows a data folder and when I open that, I see all the computers in the house.  If I double click on the iMac, nothing happens.  I'd like to be able to selectively choose the data and the apps to copy onto the Air.

  • How to transfer files from imac to macbook air

I recently received my macbook air and I was trying to transfer iWork to my new macbook.
Typically, I have no problems in the transfer process when I have done this before from my iMac to my Powerbook. And now, with the Macbook Air, my iMac tells me that the device isn't connected to the Macbook Air....but it IS showing that it is discovered.
    Sounds very confusing, I know.
I just need to know how to transfer Pages to my Macbook Air from my iMac.
If anyone can help, PLEASE DO!
    Thanks!

  • Transferring photo albums from imac to macbook air

How do I transfer my imac (leopard OS) Iphoto albums to my new Macbook air (mountain lion) Iphoto application?

    By moving the Library...
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
