Cant delete Xcode once in Trash!

Hello,
I was cleaning out my laptop and deleted Xcode using AppCleaner and it put the actual application in the Trash and when i go to delete this it says it is in use so i cant delete the file or i cant Put Back so i can use the sudo command in terminal.
Can someone please tell me a soloution?

Restart your Mac and empty the Trash. Make sure that, on the shut down window, you untick "Reopen windows when logging back in".
Also, you shouldn't use applications like AppCleaner. This type of application may delete a system file by mistake and damage OS X. Also, most of the applications are uninstalled just dragging them to the Trash

Choose your Home folder and "Get Info" (command-i). Under "Ownership & Permissions" be sure you have "Read & Write" privileges. Under "Details", be sure you are the owner.

Yet another example of why it's a VERY BAD IDEA to do a clean install of Lion unless you are already VERY familiar with how to tweak the Mac OS. There's a reason Apple engineers removed it as an option. To accomplish it you have to erase your disk; not for the faint hearted.
Do you have a backup? PLEASE don't tell us you did this without a robust backup.
You erased the operating machine, so your computer went to the only place it could find one, the Recovery partition. And it's minimal, so it has to download everything in small chunks to reinstall itself. So yeah, it could take 10 hours.
Here's another option. Do you still have the original disks that came with your machine? Put one in and restart from it. You can reinstall your old system much faster. Then go to the Mac App Store and your purchase history and see if you can redownload Lion (I think that still works).
And this time just do yourself a favor and install per Apple's instructions. When the machine starts into Lion, use Setup ***'t (the first thing that fires up) to migrate from your backup.

How do I fix a botched attempt to delete Xcode?

Okay, So I had xcode. Then I no longer wanted it. So I planned to delete it. I did so by finding the developer folder within my HD, dragging the whole thing to the trash and then emptying it. I later found out that I should have actually run a terminal command to get rid of the whole thing. Anyway, in my attempt to delete Xcode, there are three files that simply will not delete: DTInstrumentsCP, in the folder Library>PrivateFrameworks>DTInstrumentsCP.framework, and DTMessageQueueing, in the folders Library>PrivateFrameworks>DTMessageQueueing.framework. Both of these frameworks say they are still in use, and can not be deleted because of this. Finally, the Instruments app under Developer>Applications will simply not delete, and It says to check the permissions. I did so and they are all fully open.
Minor second question: How do I get my unwanted developer icons off launchpad, as well as another downloading copy of Xcode that can't be deleted because it's in the downloading stage?

Lion is like iPad is like Lion....in LaunchPad, click once and hold on the until the icons vibrate - the ones you're allowed to delete will then show a small x in the top left corner.

Cant delete email from email folder

I got an email in my inbox with a tick by it that i cant delete its also saved in my saved messages folder and i cant delete it fromn there either its so annoying can anyone help PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE

After installing Maverick on my 2011 MacBookPro I can no longer highlight multiple emails in the same manner. To clean out my Inbox I highlighted a message, held my mouse down & dragged my cursor down through all the messages I wanted to delete (or move to another mailbox, or other functions) highlighting as many messages as I wanted. I then clicked "delete" & they went to trash. Such a great way to clean out a lot of messages at once. Can I and/or how do I do this again? Or is this something Maverick has eliminated? I also hate that "Notes" is no longer on the Mail page, but this is not as important. Help!!

Put differenltly, if I can drag select multiple items and objects on my desktop, which I can, using my Kensington Track Ball (which has an enabled updated software driver in place, so I don't think there's a problem there), why can't I click-drag-multipleselect emails in mail like I have *always* been able to? Really, what is the problem here? Why is that no longer possibler? I'm not a coder, but I can't believe this isn't fixable. Here, Apple should be ashamed of itself, regardless of the fact that there's an easy work around. When I have to alter the way I have been doing something for years and have to waste time learning something new and complaining about it -- like right now! -- and there's no good technical reason, and I bet there isn't, then Apple has simply failed.

New owner of a Macbook Pro, can't delete or move to trash a txt.rtf file

Hi new member here with my first Apple product. I recently tried the Stickies app to write a note and save it in my documents , as i am new i didn't know what format to save in from the choices anyway i have ended up with a txt.rtf file in "All my files" and i cant delete it or move it to trash , i get a message about an original Alias is missing , then error -43.

This may not be directly related, but I just (March 2015) ran into a problem I have not seen before and we move LOTS of PDF files across all kinds of networks and network locations.
We have seen a related behavior.
If the PDF worked BEFORE the MOVE, COPY, or RENAME, it should work AFTER the move, copy, or rename.
However, we have seen where if AFTER the MOVE that you cannot OPEN the PDF with Adobe (or move or copy the file to a new location) that perhaps your NEW PDF File name and DATA PATH structure is not well under 255 characters.
For some reason either ADOBE or WINDOWS (XP for sure) has a problem with PDF File name and DATA PATH structures that near, equal to or are great than 255 characters.
Make sure AFTER (ideally BEFORE) you MOVE, COPY, or RENAME PDF Files, that your resulting PDF File name and DATA PATH structure is under 255 characters, otheriwse you will may not be able to MOVE COPY RENAME or OPEN the PDF's in the NEW location until after your PDF File Name and DATA PATH structure is under 255 characters in total length.

I cant delete these brushes

Ok so I had photoshop on my mac. I got a boat load of brushes on my mac version. They are all .abr so I thought hey why not just copy and paste them to my windows pc. So i did that apparently like none of them work except for 8. I deleted them emptied the trash later updated my operating system to 7. I wanted to use photoshop and I went to select one of the working presets and found I have nearlly all of the brushes that I had just deleted. So i searched my computer for .abr and now I have about like 60 brushes still that dont even work with this photoshop. I cant even open them it just gives me an error message " Could not load the burshes because the file is not compatible with this version of photoshop." my options are "ok" then it takes me back to the default brushes. I have searched my harddrive for these stupid brushes I cannot find them at all. I already went to the adobe,adobe cs5, presets, brushes . Can anyone help me out? that would be so awesome if i could get a resolution to this problem
I did uninstall photoshop and reinstalled it too.

The same way you put them there, the sync process.
open itunes, connect ipod, select what you want to be on the ipod, sync.

I cant delete a favourite

Hi,
I have a contact that I blocked that is in my favourites list. I cant delete that person from my favourites. I have tried unblocking them but still cannot delete them, it will disappear for a second or 2 but reinstate itself in my favourites. How can I delete it? Thanks

Relaunch the Finder, then from the Finder menu bar, select
Finder ▹ Preferences... ▹ Advanced
and uncheck the box marked
Empty Trash securely
Try again to empty the Trash.

Upgraded to leopard and Cant delete podcast in itunes please help

after leopard upgrade.....when i try and delete an old played podcast my itunes immediately pops up an error message and says it quit unexpectedly. this happens w. any podcast and i have the current version of itunes, i also recently upgraded to leopard so i dont know if that has something to do with it, but i CAN play music and videos and podcasts, i just cant delete a podcast, or update them?

"though a bit sluggish" 512 to one gig memory is just making it. two gigs you'll be more satisfied or at minimum 1.5 gigs of memory.
1) I can't answer that based upon normal itunes migration. I just keep my mp3 music on hard drives and when I re-do a computer from scratch just copy them over(they are all metatagged) and use the itunes "add to library" function then change the view using itunes, set my equalizer and I'm basically done.
2) Tiger and Leopard bookmark file are interchangeable. user/library/safari/bookmarks. You should always save that file elsewhere and just drag it over to user/library/safari of course the Safari folder is not created until you launch Safari at least once.
3) use Mail's import function, just direct it to where your mailboxes are stored.
4) address book you can do this function and save it after done. In Tiger under user/library/application support/addressbook there will be a file called addressbook.data Now create a new folder(do it on the desktop) and name it TigerData. Copy that addressbook.data file into that new folder. Now re-name that folder to TigerData.abbu in the addressbook program use the file, import, addressbook archive menu item and choose TigerData.abbu Once done save that file for future Leopard installs.

If you go to settings then to mailboxes go to the mailbox which is having the issue go to advanced then under mailbox behaviors go to deleted messages make sure that deleted messages is checked under the server not the iPhone that should fix your issue! It fixed mine! You do not have to reset anything or download anything.

I wonder if you are seeing your iTunes in the Cloud purchases. The items you see with the iCloud icon next to them are purchased songs that you can stream from iTunes in the Cloud. You can hide these songs in Settings on the iPhone:
Just show music that’s been downloaded from iCloud: Go to Settings > Music, then turn off Show All Music.

If there are just specific songs you would like to hide, you can hide them using the iTunes Store on your computer:
To hide your purchases
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
From the Store menu, choose Store > Sign In, and then enter your Apple ID and password.
Go to the iTunes Store.
Click Purchased from the Quick Links section on the right side of the iTunes Store.
Choose a content type by clicking on Music, TV Shows, Apps, or Books from top.
Hover your cursor over the item you want to hide.
You will see an "X" either to the right or left top corner of the item.
Click the "X" to hide that item. A confirmation dialog will appear once you click the "X."
Once you hide the songs on your computer, I recommend quitting and relaunching the Music app on your iPhone. You can find more information about hiding purchases here:

Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > iCloud/ or whatever email account you have (I used iCloud) > Turn on Contacts and Calendars (don't worry if it merges) > TADA. It should work (well, it worked for me anyways). Once you got it working, you can go back and de-toggle Contacts and Calendars.
