Cant download/install itunes 7

ok.a couple days ago i had itunes 7 and all my songs and everything until my computer crashed and it got rid of everything.i managed to get most of my songs back but when i had to restore my computer it comes with itunes 4.so i put all my songs back on itunes 4 and i tried to download music but i need itunes 7 cuz it wont let me if i dont have 7.i went to the apple website to get it and this messages comes up in that box 'your request produced an error'.eventually after trying a couple times i could start downloading it.i got about 12% done when it said it was finished and the install program was put on my desktop.i opened that and it said something like itunes7.exe is not a valid win32 file.itunes and the store is really starting to make me mad.but how can i get itunes 7 again so i can download music?i just went out and bought a itunes card that same day too!

My suggestion would be to step through the hints one more time. Sometimes when frustrated you might miss a step or your eyes may play tricks. I'm sure its something to do with the configuration on your PC and not the installer.
Remember to turn off firewalls and virus checkers when kicking off an install. If you still have trouble I can give you the command to create a log file that I can look at to see where the problem is.

have reformatted my Imac using original discs (installed leopard (10.5)) tried to do the software update but it cant download the itunes update and when it gets to the configure update screen after restart for main update, it just gets stuck. HELP!
The configure bar gets about an 1/8 full and then just does nothing. I think its lists the update as combo update? cant remember with out checking.
I have tried to do the disk verify and repair but this has made no difference.
Please let me know what i need to do, I have reformatted the mac just to start over as was clogged with a lot of useless data, I had installed lion (10.7) from the app store previously and now cant seem to find a way to re install lion. I hope I dont need to pay for it again?

If you erased your hard drive, you'll need to reinstll OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard to access the App store. You won't have to pay for OS X 10.7 Lion again. Did you try booting to the recovery partition by holding the command and r keys down? If that's still there, you can reinstall OS X 10.7 from there.
If you're looking to install the current iTunes, you need OS X 10.6.8 at a minimum.
If you're still trying to update OS X 10.5 Leopard, you can download the combo update from here.  Download, use Disk Utility to repair permissions, apply the update, then repair permissions again. That will take you to OS X 10.5.8.

That sounds like you might need to repair the Windows Installer Service.
    Try this:
    >
Click on the Start menu, choose Run, type cmd and click OK, then enter the
appropriate set of commands pressing enter after each one:
    >
    32-bit systems:
    %windir%\system32\msiexec.exe /unregister

The steps in the second box
    <https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6562#reinstall> are a guide to
removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often
a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific
approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further
down the page in case one of them applies.

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Cant finish installing iTunes 10.6 to windows 7, keep getting error message 7, unable to download iTunes help. Ideas?

I started with the "cannot locate network file .msi" msg. I bought perfect uninstall to remove all traces of apple software from computer, it was able to remove the so called defective file. For 3 hours I tried to reload 10.6 and got a new error code 7, unable to install iTunes help, and I still can't get it or the old versions of iTunes back on my computer. I have since removed the software again and defragmented the drive with no success. Seems like a lot of people are having similar issues. I am very frustrated. I was so happy with apple products till now, so disappointed they would release such faulty software! Any ideas?

    Repair your Apple Application Support.
Restart Computer, go to Control Panel/Program and Features/highlight AAS and click REPAIR button.

  • QuickTime asks me to download/install ITunes.

Occasionally, a requester pops up asking me to update my QuickTime installation, and listed there is an update called ITunes. I can Quit this requester without any action, however, I would prefer not to be asked to install ITunes because I currently have no use for it.
Can I switch this off or change/modify the installation so that ITunes is no longer asking to be downloaded/installed?
Also of some concern is that my current installation shows me that my preferences are turned off for Automatic Updates. There is also an extra stray QuickTime shortcut that is on my Desktop. How do I identify the shortcut to remove?
    Cheers ...
    Geoffrey Hyde

Well, that didn't solve anything. I wonder if there's a utility from Apple which manages QuickTime/ITunes installation/removal/repair? I think perhaps there is something wrong somewhere, as the registry was corrupted recently, and the technician had to fix it, as it was affecting the ability of ScanDisk to run on reboot.
I'm not sure if uninstalling will fix the problem properly without some sort of scan of the PC to ensure all traces of Apple QuickTime/ITunes have been removed completely.
Anyone know if there's a program from Apple for Windows XP that will remove all traces of QuickTime/ITunes?
    Cheers ...

  • Can't download (install) iTunes to PC-Help!

Have Compaq PC, running Vista, service pack 3, pentium (R) 4 CPU, 2.53 GHZ. 1.00 Gb Ram. Download window shows itunes downloading but stops with 2 seconds and 4 KB still to download, but it never does download. Can someone help please.

    Hey there,
Download Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable from Microsoft from [here|http://www.microsoft.com/downloads>
After you have downloaded and run the installer, you should be able to install itunes and other programs. The pack contains 2 documents with the installer. You need to click the download button next to: WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe
    See if that helps.
