Cant edit Home Video Information

I recently downloaded a movie and wanted to import it into itunes where all my other movies are stored. All my other movies have been purchased through itunes, so theres no trouble with any of them. Upon importing the new movie, it was filed into the 'Home Movies' category. I know you edit this by going into "Get Info" and then the "Options" tab to change that, but when i opened "Get Info" everything was gray, and I couldnt enter, or change anything besides the start and stop times. Ive been trying to fix it for about an hour and I have ran out of ideas.
Any suggestions would be appreciated
Thank you

Hello gymnastics2015,
That is strange that it is not accepting your credit card. Have you tried a different card or setting it to None? If you can make that change and then put the credit card that you want to use back in to see if that card can be associated with your Apple ID.
Change or remove your payment information from your iTunes Store account (Apple ID)

  • Graphics card for editing home video.

I'm hoping to get a MacBook Pro 15 inch with 8GB and a 750 GB HDD and a 2.5 GHz processor.
However, it comes with the older Radeon HD 6770M 1 GB graphics card.
Would this be suitable for editing home video, or would I be better getting the later, more expensive,  NVIDIA GeForce?

    Yes.

  • Is a mac mini good enough for editing home video?

I'm considering buying a man mini to do basic video editing. This will be home videos, nothing heavy. Will a mac mini cope with putting an hours and a halfs worth of holiday clips together?

I would say YES. If you are planning of using iMovie, for example.
I was doing my family videos on my "old" iMac 2007, with Corde2Duo. I'm sure it's quite enough on the new plateform.
At least, it's the first price to do it.
I'm waiting a possible new line of Mac Mini, with latest features to get it.

  • How to edit "home videos" in iMovie on the ipad air?

My "home videos" do not show up inside of iMovie. I can see them in the Videos app that comes with it. I want to add a bunch of clips from my do

We need add "home videos" to roll/photo stream for iMovie (iOS) see them. You can use "Downloads HD" or "iDownloads+" from App Store. Once installed, go to iTunes, sincronize your iPad. Click iPad->Applications; at the bottom, Applications->File Sharing->iDownloads+ or Downloads HD->Documents->add your "home videos" and sincronize. Now into iPad run iDonloads+, File Manager, expand options for every video and choose "Add video to photos". Wait while back and that's it.
    Sorry for my english.

  • Importing, converting and editing home video mostly

Guys - I am new to Apple. Please be patient !!
I basically need help . I shoot mostly family videos with my Sony cam (.mts format). I need basic conversion, editing and subtitling etc, but since my cam is HD, I would like to keep the quality. I have been disappointed by the poor quality of my .WMV files using "Flip".
I don't mind spending a bit of cash on this. In Windows, "Nero" comes in at around U$60, and is very flexible in file conversion, editing and DVD burning. Looking for similar.
    Many thanks
Paul (PS - just downloaded Yosemite)

Possibly iMovie is all you need – except for the DVD part. You may have it already installed, depending on your Mac model; or you can get it for $15 from the App Store. You could then find a copy of the discontinued iDVD (part of the iLife suite, which is typically available at online retailers for roughly $40). Or purchase Roxio Toast ($100) to fulfill your DVD authoring needs.
Alternatively download the trial version of FCP X and see whether you like it. More expensive @$300, but it is a more powerful program.
    Good luck.

  • Play HD home video via AppleTV to a big screen

I'm moving up to the full package, iMac, Final Cut Express, and a new AVCHD camera (Canon Vixia). Will I be able to play my edited home video from the iMac through my AppleTV to my 60" Sony in full 1920x1080 so it looks the same as direct from the camera? If not, short of buying a blu-ray burner and player, how else can I get all that glorious HD video to my Sony for the whole family to enjoy?

AppleTv is not a high powered device, and is quite long in the tooth. It can't handle 1080p let alone 720p at 30 fps.
New Mac Mini with HDMI should have the power to play the video back, but I'm not sure if AVCHD is supported for playback.
I find 1080p 24fps video from my DSLR converts pretty well for AppleTV usage at 720p 24fps, you'd also probably get by with PAL 25fps at 720p, but it's 960x540 for NTSC rates unless you change frame rate and that should be avoided.
For AppleTV you need to output h264 <5Mbps with AAC audio (theoretically).

  • How do I get home video clips from iMovie Mac to iMovie iPad?  Surely there is some degree of cross-compatibility?  I have a load of clips in iMovie on my MBP that I wanna download to my iPad2 so that I can edit movies on the move.  Any ideas?

How do I get home video clips from iMovie Mac to iMovie iPad?  Surely there is some degree of cross-compatibility?  I have a load of clips in iMovie on my MBP that I wanna download to my iPad2 so that I can edit movies on the move.  Any ideas?  (The clips are in a .mov format, they have been imported / converted into this format in iMovie, original files were from a JVC camcorder in some other strange format.)

I copied the iTunes file from the external drive and it's in both places.  I thought all I would need is the iTunes program (which I downloaded to new computer) and my iTunes library file.  There must be something else that's missing.  My iTunes library looks the same on the new computer as it does when I open it on the external drive.  If I click on an iTunes library song from my new computer, it will only play if I have the external drive plugged in.
My back-up drive is a mess.  I have multiple copies of music, video, photo, and document files and I don't know how that happened. ={  Obviously, I don't know how to back up stuff properly and there are back-up files extending over a 6- to 8-year period.  I think all I did was just drag and drop the main folders from the back-up drive to the same main folders on the C: drive.  Also (and I'm kind of fuzzy on this) Windows used to automatically save music files in a folder within my document files (which makes no sense to me).  As my Jewish friends would say, "Oy Vey!"

  • When I import new home videos into my iTunes and edit the names it creates duplicate Library's on my Apple Tv. How can I stop this from happening each time I edit a name in iTunes home videos??

I am having an issue with duplicate Libraries showing up in my Home Sharing "Home Videos".  It happens when I import home videos into iTunes and change the names of the files. How do I avoid this from happening and delete the duplicate libraries?

The sort fields should generally be empty unless you've putting in custom values to sort solo artists by their surnames. You can apply common changes to thousands of tracks at once, just don't apply the wrong change because there is no undo.
It is a good idea to backup before undertaking large scale changes. See this backup tip for a suggested approach.

  • Whats the best way to transfer VHS home video's into IMOVIE '11 for exporting/editing?

I have been reading about this subject online for a while now but need assistance/guidance before I go out and buy adapters etc. to begin my project.  I am attempting to put home-videos of mine from VHS-C format onto my Macbook Pro.....Is it possible that if I use VCR adapter cables that go Red, White, Yellow, to USB I can directly import these VHS home videos into my computer?
I am going to have to buy a new VCR to do this and I would like to find out if this is going to work properly if I buy a VCR and use these Adapter cables I mentioned above.
Throughout my reading on the topic I've ran across a lot of different suggestions for a million different Video Conversion programs etc. although I would feel most comfortable using Imovie '11 on my brand new Macbook Pro because I have faith in Mac Programs for this type of a procedure.
I'd truly appreciate the help I've been wanting to work on this video project for quite a while now and I'm anxious to get some material in digital format to work with.

The VHS tape deck is analog. You have to convert these signals to digital format before you can edit them with iMovie.
There are a couple of ways to do this.
    1) You can get a device called a DAC (Digital Analog Converter). Grass Valley makes a series of these. They are pricey, but give good results. They attach via Firewire, so make sure your Mac has a Firewire port. They produce a file in the DV format. You can import directly into iMovie with this option.
    2) You can get a device called an EyeTV Hybrid. This will accept your RCA red, white, and yellow on one side, and attach with USB. This produces a file in H.264 format. You import the VHS into the EyeTV software, and then send it to iMovie through a menu choice.
    3) Some camcorders have "passthrough" capability, meaning they can take the RCA Red, White, and Yellow in and output digital DV through Firewire. You can import directly into iMovie with this option.
Once converted, iMovie is a great way to edit your movies.
Personally, I use the EyeTV Hybrid. It also lets me view and record over the air HDTV on my Mac.
Here is a sample of my results with the EyeTV Hybrid.

  • How is this for a PC spec for home video editing?

OK - we've decided to get the new PC now, focused around decent performance for video editing at home when we do it.   Any feedback on the below would be greatly appreciated.  I've tried to put in my "principles", but as you note I've highlighted some questions around these.
    Principles
    * Decent computer for Home Video Editing - so when we do it want it to be reasonable from a performance point of view (not annoying).  Also want assurance for the video data that a single HDD crash won't mean lost data.
    * Hard Drive Configuration - Assume RAID 1 for data
    C: 500GB - Operating System (1 x 500GB)
    D: 500GB - Swap Area for O/S (1 x 500GB)
    E: RAID 1 Redundancy for Data ( 2 x 1TB )
    * 64 bit Windows 7 Pro
    * Questions re Principles
Is it really worth having a separate drive (D: drive) for Swap?
Is there any real need to have a drive F: (another one) for exports?  This is non-real time so it shouldn't be an issue should it?
Any major improvement re moving say the C: drive to SSD? (or not worth the $$)
SATA II versus SATA III drives? (I've assumed both are ok when picking)
    The Spec
    CPU - Intel Core i7 960 Processor LGA1366 3.2GHz 8MB Cache CPU
    Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R X58+ICH10R QPI 6.4GT/s DDR3 2000 PCI-Ex16 SATAII SATA3 USB3.0 RAID GLAN ATX
    RAM - Kingston 12GB(3X4G) KIT 1333MHz(PC3-10600)
    Video Card - NVIDIA GTX560 - Gigabyte GTX560 OC 1G GDDR5 PCIE DualLink DVI  [?? matches motherboard / is this overkill ??]
    RAID Card - Adaptec AAR1220SA-SGL SATAII RAID0 1 JBOD/2 PORT/Low Profile/PCIEx1/OEM/No Cables [?? is this ok - seems cheap ??]
    HDD (non-RAID) - 2 x Western Digital 500G RE4 SATAII 7200rpm HDD 64MB Enterprise [?? only SATAII this is ok no??]
Case - CoolerMaster RC-942-KKN1 HAF X 942 Black No PSU [?? is this overkill - just took someone recommendation here ??]
Power Supply - Corsair HX-850 ATX Power Supply w 140mm Modular Cables [?? power ok?  again just took a recommendation ??]
    O/S - 64bit - Microsoft Windows 7 Pro 64bit OEM(Microsoft OEM Terms&condition apply)
Note - I'm looking at the following local site re where to source if this assists: http://www.umart.com.au

Greg (correct me if that's not correct!),
You're spec. looks like a great start for what you are trying to do. I have a few comments, and also two questions!
    Comments:
    - Spec. generally looks fine
    - I particularly like your case and p/s choices!
    - For a home PC, you may consider bumping up your OS choice to Ultimate, which adds some nice multimedia capabilities
    - Regarding the D drive for swap (and I assume you mean Premiere Pro media cache and media cache database too) will definitely speed up aspects of Premiere Pro, but likely be unnoticeable for other home PC day to day use. Why not build out the system and decide then if you need the extra speed for Premiere Pro - it is so easy to add something like that later.
    - I'd vote no regarding a need for a F output drive for this system
    - Regarding your OS drive... Speed and responsiveness versus cost - what do you choose? This really is a personal choice. I will say that a 2x1TB RAID 0 OS boot array would probably be a bigger step up in performance than a similar priced SSD option and a 2xSSD (60 to 80GB) array will perform better than a single larger SSD.
    - Sata II vs Sata III - I have some of each now, and I would agree with other posters and articles on the Internet that say the often larger cache size on the Sata III models is more important than the Sata III interface. Keep going like you are going, with the assumption that both are OK.
    - finally, your CPU; personnaly, with the new lower cost pricing on the i7-970, I'd suggest you downgrade to a i7-950 and same some money or upgrade to the 32nm 6-core i7-970 CPU and jump to a significantly new level of performance and power per watt
    Questions:
    - what version of Premier Pro will you be running?
    - what will be your workflow (i.e. DV, Sony consumer AVCHD, Canon DSLR, etc.)?
    Cheers,
    Jim

  • I am trying to get a good copy of my home video on DVD using IDVD.  On editing the video all the viewing screens show the video perfectly in HD.  When I burn the video to DVD all the end results are buzzy with squiggly lines.  Any fix?  Thanks?

    Hi
There are several layers to this Q
    A. There are no HD in DVD - DVD is as standard only SD-Video what ever tools used to produce it !
iDVD or DVD-Studio Pro or Roxio Toast™ - will only make SD-Video on DVD
    B. DVD can be better or worse
    • Using "Share to iDVD" is no good way - Better is Share to Media Browser and as Large (NOT HD as result will be worse)
    • Using iMovie'08 or 09 or 11 - are not tools to chose if highes quality is of importance - iMovie up to HD6 or FinalCut any version is far better as they send over all lines to iDVD and not only every second one.
    • Using Right encoder quality depending on movie and Manu duration is very important
    • Use of high quality brand of DVD - is important - I use Verbatim DVD-R
    • Type of DVD - DVD-R plays on more DVD-Players (even old ones)
    • Burn speed - I set it down to x4 - resulting in less burn errors - plays on more players
    • I secure a minimum of 25Gb free space on Start-Up Mac OS hard disk as iDVD and Mac OS needs this and it can not be taked from other hard disks - has to be here.
    • What You feed iDVD does matter
    Video codecs
    Audio file formats
    Photo file formats

Today, i opened the FCP again, to make some changes, and when i enter to the project, it shows me as one big clip.....i dont see it says compound clip....and i tried anyways pressing break appart clips...but nothing....could it be that i made it compound before exporting it..? if so how can i recover the un-compound version >?

  • I want to edit a home video on IPad

My Father used his camera to film our wedding and we received the audio from the sound guy. I want to put the two together. And then use bits of it in a slide show. I have converted the DVD to an MP4. I have used iTunes to put the video to on my iPad. The video ends up in home videos were I am unable to edit them. I have looked in iTunes on my PC to try and find the app iMovie on my iPad while the USB is connected to the PC. But the app iMovie is not there.
I have many videos I want to put in slideshows for a quick few of wedding and honeymoon. I am seeing that many individuals have the same question and I am thinking that I am trying to drive through a dead end. Anybody?

I apologies. I was under the assumption that others reading my question would think if I was talking about iMovie I have it on my iPad and I never clarified thank you for pointing that out. I do have iMovie and had iMovie the whole time in my attempts including the one where I looked through iTunes in my PC while my iPad was hooked up via USB , was in my iPads apps looking at the list and iMovie was not one of the listed. But even if it was how is this going to help me?

IM EDITING A VIDEO FOR THE 1ST TIME IN PHOTOSHOP CS6. However when I play it I dont hear any audio. Its not muted either

    Hello,
I found this in the Adobe help files...
    "About video layers
You can use Photoshop to edit individual frames of video and image sequence files. In addition to using any Photoshop
tool to edit and paint on video, you can also apply filters, masks, transformations, layers styles, and blending modes.
After making edits, you can save the document as a PSD file (that can be played back in other Adobe applications such
as Premiere Pro and After Effects or accessed as a static file in other applications), or you can render it as a QuickTime
    movie or image sequence.
Note: You can work only with the visual images in a video file, not the audio."
