Cant edit or delete contacts

To keep it simple....Cant edit or delete contacts????

Just found a way of editing the contact  from iPhone 4S,
Dial the incorrect number/contact and hang up
go to the call list and display the call with the contact detail where the edit button suddenly appears
Edit details
I know its a long winded way of doing it but it will do till someone comes up with a a better way of dong it

  • Solution:  iMac Address Book - Issues when Editing or Deleting Contacts

Is there a way to select a bunch of similarly posted questions and propose to "ALL" an answer or solution?
Hardware & Version: I have the iMac OS X Lion 10.7.4  (as of this writing)
Every so often, after updates, there seems to be rights issues with some apps, such as Address Book and iTunes, especially for iMacs with one or more non-admin accounts.
But somehow, even using the Admin account to give Read/Write access to some relevant user folders (AddressBook folder of that user in this case) does nothing to allow the editing or deleting of those contacts.
Here is the solution that worked for me, without losing all my contacts:  (just in case, backup all files and contacts prior to these steps...)
1 - open Address Book app
2 - right-click a contact that you cannot edit or delete
    3 - select "Spotlight: <contact name>"
4 - Finder will open and show all files pertaining to that contact (select View as Columns from the menu)
5 - find the file that has "Address Book Card Data" next to the "Kind" value (the file icon will look like those Roladex cards)
6 - right-click the file and select "Open Enclosing Folder"
7 - another Finder window opens to show the Metadata folder location of the file
8 - now stretch the window until you see the AddressBook folder containing the Metadata folder
9 - Quit Address Book app
10 - right-click the AddressBook folder and select "Move to Trash"
11 - launch the Address Book app
You should now be able to edit and delete contacts.

  • I can't edit or delete contacts on galaxy 3.

    I just purchase galaxy3 yesterday.
Sales lady transfered my contacts  from my old phone to galaxy 3.
I can't edit or delete the contacts.
"you cannot delete contacts from read-only accounts, but you can hide tehm in
    contacts" that is the message.
I can add new phone # w/o any problem.
    What should I do?

Does it say anywhere in the contact information view where the contacts were saved? Google, phone, SIM card, Facebook or something else?

  • Can no longer add, edit, or delete contacts

I just downloaded the iOS 5 for my 3GS phone.  I cannot add or edit contacts now.  If I turn the phone off then back on, I get the plus sign to add a contact for a split second, then when the contacts load, it disappears.  When I select a contact, the details are displayed, but the 'edit' button does not appear.

What idiot answers their own post?  So, after I posted I saw others with a similar problem.  I got my add, edit, and delete functions back by going to settings, then selecting iCloud.  I turned 'Contacts' to on, selected OK to merge.  When complete, I checked my contacts and could then add, edit, and delete.  I went back to settings and iCloud and turned the merge off, and went back to Contacts, and could still add, edit, and delete.  Hope this helps someone else.

  • Cant edit or delete Songs!

I can't edit or delete songs. If i delete, nothing happens, At all. If i edit, its just grey. I have unticked my music folder for 'read-only' and then reopened iTunes and ran as administator, nothing.
    Please help.
    Vista.

I see... You may want to try uninstalling and reinstalling the program. It will automatically detect your music library and re-add it into your iTunes. This is how most issues are resolved.
    WINDOWS VISTA:
              1. Quit iTunes.
              2. Start --> Control Panel --> "Uninstall a Program", you should now be  at the "Programs and Features" panel.
              3. Select iTunes and click Remove. Do not restart your computer. (Also delete iPod Updater if applicable)
And then… In this order, also remove:
                        1. QuickTime
                        2. Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support
                        3. Bonjour. (Also delete Apple Application Support if applicable)
              4. Go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download to download and install the latest version of iTunes.

  • Hello, How can I edit or delete a custom label in the contacts list on iOS 7.0.3 on iPhone 4S ?

Hello, How can I edit or delete a custom label in the contacts list on iOS 7.0.3 on iPhone 4S ?
    i need it so muchhh!

Sort of depend on what you are trying to do precisely. In Edit mode, if you tap on any label, you will be given a list of options, plus an Add Custom Label option near the bottom of the list

I've been trying to find a way to do this since I updated to IOS 7, and I've just found the solution/explanation, even tho is a bit heavy to carry out.
IOS 6 creates custom labels and save them giving you the option to delete them.
IOS 7 creates custom labels but don't save them, so there is no need to have the option to delete them.
But here comes the problem, if you have some custom labes saved in you Iphone / Ipad with IOS 6 and you update it to IOS 7, the device will keep those labels saved, but you wont be able to delete them.
I realized this by going to contacts on Icloud. There those labels that I had on my devices weren't there. So simply restoring your device and configuring it as a new one to later sync your Icloud Contacts, will solve the problem.
I know this post is old, but I might just try this with iOS 8. I have outdated custom labels that annoy me, because I still seem them in the list as options. If I get desperate enough, I may try your solution.

  • Since I moved to iCloud I can't Edit or Delete Address Book Contacts using my MacBook Pro

Is not funny at all, everything was fine using Mobile Me but since I switch to iCloud I can't Edit or Delete my Address Book Contacts using my MacBook Pro or my MacPro.
In my MacBook Pro, i open Address Book and on the left I have te list of all contacts, on the right the selected contact informations, below I only have "Add Contact" or "Share", my friend have "Edit" instead of "Add Contact".
If I click on "Add Contact" this is the result:
Are you sure you want to import 1 card? 1 card is a duplicate and will be updated.
Everything fine using my iPhone or the website.
    Apple, what's going on?

Here is some information and instructions from Apple:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3998
Please note that iCloud is geared towards being an instantaneous (and in some cases temporary) parking place for various things with iDevices; the access and useability from a computer is more difficult and, for most things, has to be done via the website icloud.com.

  • After upgrading to OS 8.1.3 on iphone 5, suddenly all contacts have facetime and ring on both my ipad and iphone.  Went to Contacts and Facetime to Edit and delete, but no field to do so. How can I delete Facetime from all these contacts?

After upgrading to OS 8 on my iphone 5, suddenly all my contacts had Facetime capabilities. I only want to FT with a few people Unwanted FT calls now ring on both my iphone and ipad. I tried to edit and delete FT capabilities in both Contacts and Facetime icon, but there is no field to delete for this. How do I delete Factime from my contacts list? thanks for any help with this.

    Hi Ingo 2711,
Thank you for your suggestion.  I backup on itunes. I went to itunes, deleted syncing my contacts, then re-synced them. But the Facetime capability option continues to be there on most (not all, for some curious reason) of my contacts. I am not sure I posed my question correctly.  I want to be able to FT with my family, so don't want to delete the FT capability totally from my iphone and ipad. But I don't want all these other iphone calls from various contacts to ring on my ipad as FT calls.  I want a way to select with whom I have FT capabilities. Any further suggestions? Thanks much, trekpal
