Cant edit or remove signature field

I accidentally added a digital signature field to a form I was making. Now I cant select it, or delete it from the form. Is there any way to get rid of it without starting over?
I looked in the hierarchy, and structure views and its not listed there. When I preview or use the form its there plain as day right smack dab in the middle of my form.
Im using live cycle 8.0
Thanks

From the sounds of it it is in the master page section of the hierarchy, instead of the subforms. That's the only way I've come accross being able to see something and not select it when editing.
Have a check there first, because I can't think of anything else right now! :)

  • How do I create a certificate to remove signature field issues?

I would like to start using digital signatures for some internal documents. We are a small site with about 20 PC users (3 of them Apple).
We can create PDFs with signature fields but every time we sign the document, when somebody needs to sign again (for approval of the first sign), then a constant message "file has been modified since it was signed" and also "at least one signature has problems......"
The way I created the forms is by adding form fields and then "Extend features in Adobe Reader" as only the 3 Apple devices have Professional version of Acrobat.
What is the correct way to do this? I think I need to create a Trusted certificate, of course for the size of our site I don't want to have external solutions, especially because it is for internal purposes only.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

How the signing certificates that you use for all signatures were procured? Were they created by a reputable Certificate Authority (CA) or are they self-signed certificates that you can create in Acrobat and other apps?
If they are self-signed certificates then you need to explicitly trust each of them on each Acrobat/Reader installation. You can use (Acrobat XI/Reader XI) to do that:
    1. Right-click on the signature, select "Show Signature Properties...->Show Signer's certificate".
    2. In the left pane shows the signer's certificate. Select it.
    3. Select "Trust" tab on top and in this tab "Add to Trusted Certificates". Again for self-signed certificates you need to do that on each Acrobat/Reader installation.
If you got your signing certificates from a Certificate Authority #2 above shows the certificate chain. Select that top-most certificate in the chain and add trust for it as in #3. Chances are that all your certificates were issued by the same CA. In this case you need to add trust to only this one certificate on each Acrobat/Reader installation.
You can use Export/Import Security Settings feature in Acrobat to make this process easier. This feature was discussed at length in several discussions on this forum <Re: Small Business Digital Signature Set-up>. Search for "Export/Import Security Settings" for more info.

  • Removing signatures in a digital signature field

Hi all, I have a question relating to the topic above that i hope
    you guys can help me with;
    1) Is it possible to remove digital signatures from form? For instance
if you have a form going thru several approval steps that requires
signatures, and then one step happened to reject, it would be nice to
remove the previous signatures so that they could be re-signed.
    2) And finally is there a simpler way to combine digital signatures
and rights management then what was listed in the pdf provided by
Duane (second post from the bottom of the thread)? When creating a policy there is
a checkbox for "Filling in form fields and signing". Is this forsomething else?
    Thanks!
    Billy

Hi all, came accross a few other problems and hopefully someone can
    help me out,
I've managed to place digital signatures on a form and I used a custom renderer to apply a policy for rights management. I used a Document
Form type variable in the process and specified that the form should only be rendered once. Now at some point in my process I wanted to
remove a signature so I tried to use the Clear signature field service. When i run it however i get a stall and an error in my logs
saying "The input PDF is encrypted using APS and could not be opened, hence the operation clearSignatureField can not be performed on Signature Field ConsultantSig. (in the operation : clearSignatureField)"
So figure, ah well, thats cool, i'll just remove the policy as I figured thats what was encrypting it. So i threw in a Remove Policy service and then i get another error in my logs saying that

Oh great, a conversion problem when i try to remove the policy! Incidently i get this same conversion problem when i try to remove a signature using the Clear Signature on a form that has NOT had any policy placed on it at all.
So basically, to sum up these are the main issues
    1) Can digital signatures be removed from a form that has a policy placed on it, or do i have to remove the policy first?
    2) Why am i getting these coercion errors? As i understood it using a Document Form variable is the correct way to go. What should i do to resolve this?
So can anyone shed a little light on this?
    Thanks

  • How to edit signature fields in Adobe EchoSign

In this tutorial, learn how to use digital signatures, including how to edit electronic signature fields and other input fields in Adobe EchoSign.

It will depend on the image. If it was one that was saved as a psd file and has layers (window>layers) {Look in the layers panel and see if you see a layer with a thumbnail that looks like a large T} In this instance, you can double click on that thumbnail to highlight the text then type in its replacement.
If the image is a jpg which does not support layers, transparency or live text, then that would mean that you need to use the selection tools to select that text and fill it with the same color as the background. You can then use the text tool to type in the text you want.
Remember to save a copy as a psd file so you can edit the text at a later date.

  • How do I delete a digital signature field?

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 on Snow Leopard. I created a digital signature for a PDF file but it didn't look good, so I decided to delete it. I figured out how to delete the signature, but the signature field with the little red arrow did not delete with my signature. I want my PDF form to revert to the way it was before I created the signature. I cannot simply close the PDF without saving because I'd lose all the information I've already entered. Stupid me forgot to save before attempting the digital signature.
HOW CAN I DELETE the digital signature field? Help!

    Hi SM,
The place to look for permission settings is on the Security tab of the Document Properties dialog. You can get there by selecting the File > Properties menu item and then select the Security tab.
One thing to note is if the file is Reader Enabled you will need to use the File > Save a Copy menu item to create a non-Reader enabled version of the file. You cannot edit a Reader Enabled file. As an aside, the Save a Copy menu item won't be there if the file is not Reader Enabled.
If the file was created using Designer (which is only on Windows and I know you are using a Mac) then it has to be edited in Designer.
If the file was certified, then you need to remove (clear) the certifying signature before you can edit the file, and to do that you must have access to the private key that was used as part of that signature operation.
Finally, if the file is encrypted (e.g. Password Security or Certificate Security), you can edit the file, but you have to get Acrobat to realize you are the document owner which means you need the Permissions password or or logged in using a document owners digital ID (the former is only for Password Security and the latter is only for Certificate Security).

  • Remove signature in preview

How do I remove a signature from a pdf in Preview?  I can edit all the other fields that I filled in on the form but the signatures won't select.  What am I missing?

I am having the same problem.
Looks like someone asked back in 2012 and never got an answer http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1409782

  • Can I modify a pdf file containing a signature field prior to download?

I have a pdf file I use as a template and in my .net application I fill in a few fields using pdfstamper, iTextsharp, etc.  I'm new to this.
    That all works.
I also have a signature field in my document.
After I modify the fields, with the person's name, etc., I download it to the client machine, open it in Adobe Reader X, and ask the user to sign the document.
I get an error saying "This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The doc hsa been changed since it was created and the extended features are no longer available......"
Is there a way for me to do what I'm trying to do?  I hope this is somewhat clear.  It appears that modifying the fields with itextsharp is what's causing the error to occur.

    Thank you for the replies.
More specifically, here's what I'm doing.  There's a desk where people come to pick up a gift card.  When someone picks one up, a clerk runs this .net program, selects the persons name form a dropdown list, I modify a pdf file (using iTextSharp), by adding the person's name, the serial number of the giftcard, etc, download this file to the client desktop, where the person signs using an ePad.  Then the clerk saves that pdf file.
The clerk will not be able to go into the menus and remove and/or save Reader Usage Rights.  Is there a way through code that I can add Reader Usage Rights after I modify the file.  It sounds from your replies that that's what I need to do.
Also, I don't really care about the official "signature", security, certificates, etc.  I just want someone to be able to scribble onto the document using a signature pad.
I do have Acrobat Pro X and LiveCycle.  (I assume that means I have LCR Extensions.)

  • Adding a signature field takes a lot of time

Case: I have a Microsoft excel sheet that I save as PDF directly from excel. I use Adobe Acrobat X PRO to create 3 signature fields on this PDF to allow document signing in Adobe Reader.
Problem: Adding a signature field in form editing mode are extremly slow. After placing the signature field, Adobe Acrobat stops responding for about 1-3 minutes. I need to do this for a lot of documents, so it's time-consuming to say the least..
Is it possible to speed up this process?

  • How do I resolve: Field Selection dialog [Pick... button] in "Mark as read-only" section of Signed tab for Digital Signature field is not working

I am using Acrobat Pro X on Windows 7 Enterprise x64 to create a form. When I have a simple form with a few fields, I am able to use the "Pick..." button to select the fields I want to select, but in a more complex form (20 fields with 3 Signature fields) The Field Selection dialog does not work. I can make the selections, but they are not saved. Removing fields does not resolve issue. IF I start with a blank form and add a few fields, the dialog will work, but after adding more, it quits working. Reader XI is also installed.

And that is why many responders use only the custom JavaScript calculation option.
The UI for the select fields and simplified field nations are only a way to pass field names to a JavaScript function that performs the actual calculation. Sometimes these functions call other functions and pass the parameters can lead to errors in the attempted code.
I would start to learn code JavaScript for Acrobat.
The pick field dialog is for performing calculations involving sums, products, averages, minimum, and maximum. I am not sure how that would work with a digital signature. Once a signature is applied the form fields could be locked.

  • How to delete hyperlink (Remove signature) in a form created with InfoPath

    Hello.
We have Sharepoint 2013 Foundation in production. It work with forms created with InfoPath. In these forms, digital signatures are used to approve. The problem is that once you have signed the forms, the user can remove the signature. That's what we want to
    avoid.
Which file should I edit to remove the hyperlink? I can not find how to do it. Do you know a better option?
    Greetings.
    MCSA: Windows Server 2008

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to delete hyperlink (Remove signature) in a form created with InfoPath.
As far as I know, there is no OOTB way to achieve this. You need to use custom code to prevent removal of digital signatures.
Please add the OnBeforeChange handler code to the "signatureN" group where the signature is stored, not to the section you are signing.
In other words (my excample) browse to :
Tools - Form Options - Digital Signatures - "Enable digital signature for specific data" - Modify/Add
Note the "Store signatures in the following group" value. It will be a read only value, eg /my:myFields/my:signature3/my:signature4

  • Signature field disappears in Acrobat X?

I used InDesign CS6 to create a form with two signature fields, among others. When I open the form in Acrobat X, the fields are all there. When I sign the first part of the form and then save it and then reopen the form, all the checked radio buttons are blank and the signature disappears. I was able to get the radio buttons to stay when I sent the PDF to the second signatory, but my signature was not there. They were able to sign on the second signature field and return the PDF to me. The second signature was there, but not the first one. The recipients are using Acrobat Pro for Windows (not sure which version but probably the latest) and I am using a Mac with Acrobat X and InDesign CS6.

Yes, you can create and edit forms with Standard. It won't allow you to add/edit document-level JavaScripts or add the digital signature usage right when Reader-enablinga document, however.

  • Acro Reader hallucinates signature fields

I have a PDF just prepared with Acrobat 9 Pro Extended that should have no signature fields in it, and indeed going to Add or Edit Signature fields tells me I have none. Nor does Acro Reader 11.0.0 on my main 64-bit Win 7 computer see any. However, Acro Reader 11.0.3 on my other 64-bit Win 7 PC opens the PDF with a big green bar at the top claiming "Signature Fields detected". Does anyone have an idea what might be wrong and how to correct it.
    Thanks for your help.

Adobe think it's a real neat idea to see a file might need signing and tell the user. The clever idea they had was to see if the word "sign" appears in the file. I hope you'll think this is as neat as the programmers at Adobe, but I have my doubts.

  • Can't sign signature fields in Adobe Reader XI

Using Adobe Acrobat X (not the Pro edition!) Dutch (NL) Language Edition  I created a document with two signature fields. Afterwards I tried to save as "Reader Extended". (The only option I found under "Save As" that looked similar to this command in my Dutch language version was "Uitgebreide PDF Reader" (this means "Extended PDF Reader") and then "Formulieren inschakelen en opslaan in Adobe Acrobat".  This last option means literally "Enable forms and save in Adobe Acrobat".)
When I opened the document in Adobe Reader XI (Dutch version again), the two signature fields are clearly visable, but do nothing when I click on them.
I've Googled extensively and also read the other topics on this FAQ which deal with similar problems, but to no avail... Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?
    Regards,
    KVD

After doing more testing, the Page Open event works in Reader but is very slow updating the result page that has the code and uses the Page Open event.
In Acrobat happens instantly, but in Reader takes a loooong time, sometimes seems that doesn't even update, as it takes forever. Wonder if my Reader's settings are screwed up?
Basically you have two pages, page one with a 4-choice radio button and, page two with a text field to report the value of the selected button choice.
Page two has the following code as Page Opens:
         var buttonV = this.getField("Group1").value;
         getField("Text1").value = buttonV;

    >
    > If the computer is for public signing, you can replace your name with the name of the PC. It is not practical to have a digital id for every person that signs. IntegriSign will still ask for the signers name and signature.
    >
    > 6. Go to Windows start => all programs => IntegriSignDesktop => Desktop => Desktop Configuration => Select button (under certificate selection in the lower right of the window). At this time, you should see the digital id you just created.
    >
    > 7. Choose the certificate you just created, and click the OK button.
    >
    > 8. Go to Adobe Acrobat ->Edit -> Preferences -> Security, click on the Advanced button and make sure IntegriSign for acrobat 9 and later is selected as the default in the Creation. Also make sure the Verification is set to default method and the method is IntegriSign for Acrobat 9 and later.
    >
    > If IntegriSign is not an option then go under Edit/Preferences-->General (not Security) find the "Application Startup" checkbox 'Use only certified plug-in' CHECKED. Uncheck the box and repeat the first procedure.
    >
