Cant enter mac os when pressing option at start after hiding mac partition in newly installed win7

I used boot camp to install windows 7 ultimate yesterday. After that I use some partition tool to hide the mac partition simply because I dont wanna carelessly take something out or put something in the partition. After that, I can never see mac os option on start again when pressing option button. This really made me upset cuz I got lot of important stuff on mac os. Can anyone help?

Well, you hid it, didn't you. When you hide something, how would you see it?
You probably can unhide it, with the same tool that you used to hide it (I hope for you that it is a Windows tool).
Eventually when you have back the Mac Partition, you should set the Windows Partition to be the default Boot Disk. Then you do not need to "hide" the mac partition.

  • Winxp is gone when pressing option key at startup, "no bootable device"

    Hi everyone,
    I'm new to mac and recently bought a MBP.
    I did bootcamp and installed windows xp and SP3 at the same time in a small partition, I remember it was 8gb.
    I had no problem booting in to xp or mac after the installation, I can even press option and see both OS.
    But now I cannot boot to windows, at startup while pressing the option key, I only see mac os and not windows. I also tried rebooting from the startup disk utility, but it has a black screen saying "no bootable disk found." It wants me to insert a bootable disk, so I inserted the window xp disk and has to force restart the laptop. Then it started a process like trying to load the files to reinstall win xp, of course I didn't let it.
    Now when I went back to disk utilities I see that the winxp partition is 9.2gb, it was 8gb when I made it.
    Recently I split my mac partition into 2, I tried to do the time machine back up, but then it takes too long so I canceled it and deleted the partition. I wonder if this affects my window xp partition.
    Now I cannot see winxp when pressing option key at startup, but can see it in startup disk utility, and disk utility. When I boot from startup disk utility, it shows "no bootable device, insert cd, and press anykey..." I tried verifying and repairing the parition in disk utility, didn't work.
    So this is all I did before I cannot boot into xp.
    1. made new partition for winxp (formated partition as FAT)in bootcamp and installed winxp + sp3. everything was fine.
    2. create another partition, and call it "data" <-want to create this for data only, while the other half is for software installation only.
    3. create another partition for time machine, but when running time machine it says the partition is too small, so I delete it and make the partition bigger.then I run time machine, but since it takes way too long, I canceled it, and deleted the partition.
    4. in winxp, had installed kapersky anti-virus 9.0
    Now, I have 3 partitions: 1 for software installation, 1 for data, and 1 for winxp.
    So why can't I boot to windows? Did things overwrite? Please help me, I'm so frustrated. Thank you.

    Thanks fortuny,
    I had read the link you suggested. And since my partition for windows is FAT32, as noted in the website, I can edit the boot.ini directly in my mac. In my mac, it already shows that the partition # is 3,
    [boot loader]
    timeout=30
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN/fastdect
    but my window os is not booting.
    Like the link noted, "it crashes with the "I'm sorry, we couldn't start up Windows. Do you want to start in Safe Mode?" screen. You'll also see a flicker of the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH, which flashes an UNMOUNTABLEBOOTVOLUME error so quickly you won't have a chance to read it. This was the hint that the BOOT.INI entries were incorrect..."
    According to the boot.ini in the site, my boot.ini file was already set up correctly, so why can't windows startup?
    Also something I don't understand from this:
    "NOTES: If you didn't follow the instructions and chose to PARTITION the existing volume instead of RESIZING then ADDING a partition, this appears to mess up BootCamp's boot loader and you may have to start again. Step 3, however, may offer you a way out."
    When I did the 3rd partition, I did it in Disk Utility in mac, not from the mac os cd, and I split the mac partition into 2, I didn't do the "resizing," then using the unused space to make new partition... I wonder if this is causing the normal booting...
    So do I start again by deleting my data partition or start from reinstalling windows? If the problem can be fixed without installing windows, of course, it would be great.

  • Very frustrated with my LG G2. My screen freezes all the time when texting. This started after the upgrade. My husband's phone is doing the same thing. We have reset the phones, deleted off pics and videos but nothing helps.

    Very disappointed in my LG G2. My screen freezes all the time especially when texting. This started after the update. My husband's phone is doing the same thing. We have done a hard reset, deleted pics and videos to clean up the phone but nothing helps. Any suggestions? Our phones are new.

    Lots of Frustration.  In some cases the LGG2 is rendered useless even as a phone.
    Here is what I did.
    Got replacement Phone.
    Same problems but I shut down all apps that I purchased even though they worked before KitKat.
    Found that If I have both WiFi and LTE Data on at the same time battery chewing stops. Do Not know why.
    Then I got 2 CM free utilities.  The Clean and Wash utilities. Run them and find the culprits grinding CPU
    cycles and running down the battery.  Number One is the Verizon Voice Mail service constantly turning on and off
    and retrieving data not there.  Turn of the extra Voice mail and use the old access with the *6.  Unless you have
    100 messages a day for business your hosed until this KitKat issue is fixed. Get the CM battery utility.
    YOU can see the battery suckers and shut them down when not using automatically.
    Start putting back one application at a time you used often and see it they work and if the utilities will tune them
    down if they cause problems.  The LG will get better but with some limitations.
    LG and Verizon have a problem with what was a great phone.turned bad overnight.

  • Stuck in Startup when press Option

    Hi,
    I have bought my new macbook air mid 2012 recently. I want to fresh install a Mountain Lion in my MBA.
    I have followed Lion DiskMaker's instruction to create a bootable USB drive using my Sony USB 3.0 8GB thumb drive.
    But when I restart my MBA and press Option key to go into Installation, there is no response and stucked in the white screen for very long time.
    Please help me in this matter. Did I do anything wrong? Or the Lion DiskMaker does not support USB 3.0 thumb drive?
    Best regards,
    Desmond

    Any forumer can help on this?
    Suggestions also will do.
    Thanks.

  • I have a Mac Book pro 2007 and when I try to start, after logging in it just doesn't open.  The apple symbol shows but it seems to be frozen????

    I have a Macbook Pro from 2007 and run Mac OS Lion.  Today it froze and when I tried to restart after log in it just freezes and does not open?  Can anybody help?
    Gunilla

    First thing to try, reboot from the Mac OS X install disk that came with your machine.  When it starts up, select your language, then choose Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.  Select your hard drive in the list and then, in the First Aid tab, click Repair Disk (NOT Repair Disk Permissions).  If there were problems that were repaired, try rebooting again and see if the problem is gone.
    Alternately, if you have upgraded that machine to Lion (Mac OS X 10.7), you can hold down command-R at startup to enter recovery mode, and then open Disk Utility from there and do the same repairs.
    Let us know what the results are for further assistance, if the problems continue after repairing.

  • I am been asked to enter a passcode when I try to start My ipad2, this happen after upgrading to Ios7, anyone knows how to fix this error, thanks

    Hello, I will appreciated any help to solve the problem with my ipad2. On September 22th, I decided to upgrade my Ipad2 to IOS7. It went fine and I used right fater the upgrade, however, the next day the Ipad was asking for a passcode, I didn't have a passcode before the update and don't know how to unlock it now. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school enviroment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom

  • IMac g3 cant boot mac os 9.1 install cd!!!!!! help!!!!!!

    well first of all i checked this website: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/stats/imac600graphite.html
    and it said it shipped with os 9.1.
    but my problem is that it wont boot into the os 9.1 install cd.
    Also its a indigo iMac g3 and the cd is a retail install cd (Mac Os 9.1 of course.)
    what can i do please help me.
    -Anthony

    Apple have not made any OS version newer than 7.5.5 public domain, so anything 7.6 or higher someone puts up on a torrent site is techncially illegal softwre.
    Second, I wouldn't trust a "free OS." TNSTAAFL, ya' know. I've heard a number of horror stories of illegally downloaded OS software doing bad things. If your lucky, it simply doesn't install. It can get worse.
    Considering your location (Cupertino), I would think you can find a Mac User Group easily. They are often a great source for righteous older software at decent prices.

  • Centre Cursor/Trackball does not open any folder when pressed

    I have a Blackberry Curve. I think it's a 8520 but can't find out the actual model number as the centre cursor/trackball will not let me enter any folder when pressed.  It will navigate but does not work or "enter" when pressed to open a file e.g. Cannot open text messages, Cannot mange connections, Cannot access Setup etc. etc. etc  Tried re-booting several times.  Phone goes through the usual set-up and verification as OK.  Screen sticks on "confirm current date & time" as the centre cursor will not allow me to OK or edit.

    The device has a physical keyboard? If so, you can navigate to the menu item with the trackpad and then hit the "enter" key on the bottom right of the keyboard. It looks like an arrow going down and to the left.

    Im having to many issues but i went to install windows 10 and when it came to select disk partition i seleted bootcamp im sure and formated but when i continued
    i noticed as you guessed it i deleted mac all of it.So with exp i went to online recovery to disk utilies hard drive was named Media with "zero bytes" for some reasson after a while its gone (maybe because i used another hard drive to try time machine) .I went to reinstall but i cant see any disk (hard drives) so i cant reinstall or even use time machine.
    So i dont know what to do maybe try to make a new disk or use terminal,recovery? is there a way for me to fix this without going to apple
    Note:ive still got Mac OS X base folder or something like that and disk0
    before i even fixed firevault issue so i know something or have exp
    Thank you.

    Well, "Media" is the name of the drive. You must now partition and reformat it in order to create a new volume:
    Install OS X Using Internet Recovery
    Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
    Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
    Partition and Format the hard drive:
    Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
    After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
    Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
    If you have a bootable USB flash drive for Mountain Lion, then boot from it rather than the Internet Recovery HD. Once the installer gets started you can select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu in the screen's menubar. Follow the other directions provided.

    Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion From Scratch

    I've never done this myself in this way. However, in theory it should work. If it does not, then you must use a Full Internet Recovery process as follows:
    Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery

  • Resizing Mac partition back to original size after deleting another mac partition (I also have a Bootcamp partition - unrelated to this issue)

    Hello,
    I originally had two partitions - Mavericks and Bootcamp. I created another partition to install Yosemite. Then deleted it. Now I have a grey space where the Yosemite partition was. I can extend the mac partition and click 'Apply' in Disk Utility but after a few seconds, it goes back to it's original position ('Grey space' is still there) and Disk Utility doesn't give any error. I just verified on another discussion that one other user is also having the same problem. Anyone know how to fix this?

    This will return your drive to one partition with OS X installed on it. Your Boot Camp partition will be gone, but after adding a third partition you would not be able to boot from Windows. When you use Boot Camp you cannot have more than two partitions on the drive: OS X and Boot Camp Windows.
