Cant enter passcode on iphone due to faulty screen, but want to backup. Any work Around?
The bottom half of the touch screen on my 3gs has stopped working, and due to the fact that my passcode contains the number 0 i cannot get into the phone, however, when i try to create a back up on itunes, it needs me to unlock the phone. Is there anyway atall around this problem?

Theres almost a trick to it for first time users, goto SETTINGS...General......Cellular (if Verizon) ....Personal Hotspot, turn it on.....turn on wifi on your Mac, select your Iphone. Enter password.
If you take too long doing it, youll need turn turn off and on real quick the "personal hotspot" slider on the Phone.......then go quick again thur the Mac. -

My iPod screen got broken and some water got on it! The screen has gotten darker due to the moisture but otherwise the iPod still works except for the sound! I have no sound anymore! What can I do? Pleas help!

Forgotten Restrictions Passcode Help
You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.

Cant enter passcode to take off "iPad disabled"

Force your iPad into Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. -

The iTunes App opens but does not show anything! e.g. blank screen only. Tries to connect and sometimes gives message "Cannot connect to iTunes store". I can see top and bottom bar icons like Music, Films, TV, Search which each launch a new blank screen only. I can even get to Purchased option which still gives a blank screen. Have restored twice but result is the same.
Advice welcome.Discovered the fix to no iTunes due to another separate App problem that locked up after iOS7 upgrade. To fix, goto "Settings", "Safari", "Privacy and Security" and set the "Block Cookies" to "From third parties and advertisers". Exit Settings and restart the iPhone. Works for my blank screen iTunes issue.

My old 17" MBP (2005) often crashes, freezes or shows grey screen at start up. Also track pad often does not work. I have re fomatted the HD and reinstalled system but to no avail. Genius bar says possible faulty HD, but I suspect logic board. All checks out OK on the Apple Diagnostic bench. Can a Logic board go intermittant?? Any Ideas any body??
Ive repaired 1000s of laptops over the years (translate: diagnose and replace parts).
Its not that old, Ive owned 100s of laptops (most were free) ....some I still have are nearly 13 years old and still perfect, ....some extremely expensive ones died in under a year.
other than becoming obsolete at some point, there isnt really any "will spoil on" data like Milk for solid state computer parts, ....alas.
You can have a $5000 laptop die in 4 months, and a junker one keep kicking after 10 years.... Ive seen that firsthand countless times.
Common logic dictates that "very expensive = long life" in computers,..... but all the repair people will tell you just the opposite.
I know you have a gripe, I get that all too well honestly . -
I am U.S. iPhone 4S owner traveling in China. Data speed is too slow to be usable. Verizon says that is because iPhone 4S connects to strongest signal, even if slowest (virtually non-existent) data network. Does anyone know how to work around this design flaw?
I spent 2 months in china with my old iphone 3gs. Both China Unicomm and China Mobile were accessible through my US phone. (for you other users, yes my phone bill was sky high, but it's a small price to pay when you get instant access to your wife while you are gone... and to be able to use the google translate app). I had a GSM phone (obviously) and had the ability to choose what carrier I wanted my phone to connect to (the same thing was available when I was in italy as well).
it was under
general-> network> then there was a new field (that does not normally show up when in the US) that listed the available networks to connect to. my phone always attempted china unicomm first, and switched to china mobile only when unicomm was unavailible.
but if wjosten is correct (and i imagine he is), cdma phones may not be able to choose what network to connect to. -
Itunes says i must enter passcode on iphone but iphone only gives option for emergency calls
My sim card is inserted and when I turn the iphone on it only gives the option for emergncy calls, when i connect to itunes it says the phone is locked and i need to enter the passcode on the phone but i cannot enter pass cose on phone as it doesnt give me the option.
Any ideas?
ThanksYou're gonna have to force the phone into recovery mode:
Turn your phone off. If you cannot turn off your phone using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When your phone turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons. Then, leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. -
I need to upload data to icloud;display nor wrkg so cant enter passcode?
My ipad2 display has gone bad; was told to plugin my ipad to my computer; log in to itunes to upload my data to the icloud before returning it for a replacement. However, the computer tells me i need to enter my passcode so the my computer can access. Since i cant see anything on my ipad i can't enter the access code.
Suggestions?You can't backup the iPod t iTunes then. You will have to use an existing iTunes backup.
If iCloud backup is turned on and the iPod is still working (not disabled), the iPod will automatically backup daily if an internet connection is available and the iPod is connected to a charging source. -
Forgot my passcode on iPhone 5s, have followed all the steps advised-still not working
I have forgotten my passcode to my iPhone 5s. When I go to restore the iPhone through my iTunes on my mac, it keeps saying that I need to turn off 'Find My iPhone'. Obviously realizing that I can't do that without my passcode, I checked discussions up here for the relevant steps. I've followed these steps several times; turned my phone off, erased my iPhone devise from iCloud, and tried turning it back on again, reconnecting to my mac and restoring, BUT it continues to tell me that I need to turn off my 'Find My iPhone' from the device.
If anyone could suggest anything, I would really really appreciate it. Going crazy trying to unlock it.

When unable to turn off Find My iPhone from the device itself, the following Knowledge Base article offers up some great information on how to do so:
iCloud: Remove your device from Find My iPhone
Remove an iOS device or Mac on which you can’t turn off Find My iPhone
If you can’t turn off Find My iPhone on the device, turn off the device so it goes offline, then remove it from Find My iPhone on iCloud.com.
Note: You can also remove your iOS device by first erasing it—just follow the instructions below for removing an iOS device you don’t have. You can later restore the device from an iCloud or iTunes backup.
Turn off the device you want to remove.
Sign in to icloud.com/#find on another computer with your Apple ID (the one you use with iCloud).
If you’re using another iCloud app, click the app’s name at the top of the iCloud.com window, then click Find My iPhone.
Click All Devices, select the offline device, then click Remove from Account. If you don’t see Remove from Account, click All Devices again, then click the Delete button next to the device.
If the device comes online again, it will reappear in Find My iPhone. If your device reappears, turn off Find My iPhone on the device (follow the instructions above for removing a device by turning off Find My iPhone), or if it’s an iOS device and you no longer have it, follow the instructions below for removing an iOS device you no longer have.
