Cant find com.apple.logic10.plist in library preferences

I cant find in my Library preferences "com.apple.logic10.plist"

That is in fact where the com.apple.logic10.plist resides.
There is a second method.
In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder from the menu.
Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
Press the Go button.
Remove the  com.apple.logic10.plist  file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you have programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You may wish to export your custom key command as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro User Manual for details on how to do this.
If you are having trouble with a control surface in Logic Pro.
       then delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder.

    I have three desktop spaces, and I have them randomly changing backgroud from a selection of pictures in a folder. To quickly find out which picture was currently use for each desktop, I have a AppleScript that returns some infomation within the com.apple.desktop.plist file. This has been working perfectly fine in Mountain Lion.
    However, after I installed the Mavericks (clean install from scratch), my script no longer works. The background images can be changed as before, but there's no com.apple.desktop.plist file exist anywhere in my hard drive.
    Does anyone run into similar problems as me? It's driving me nuts! I can't think of any reason that there shouldn't be such a file... Thank you very much!

    I do have a little app (Script) which did exactly what I needed under OS X Mountain Lion but because under Mavericks Apple changed the location of the wallpaper information to a SQLite database this app is not working anymore. • HT5149 Hi, I still have problems reinstalling Final Cut Pro even though I followed these steps. Didn´t find "com.apple.motionapp.plist" to remove though, but the others I found. Reason why I have to reinstall is because I have repaired my Macbook Pro hard

    Hi, I still have problems reinstalling Final Cut Pro even though I followed these steps.
    Reason why I have to reinstall is because I have repaired my Macbook Pro hard drive at a Mac Authorized Repair.
    Short history of repair and my Final Cut Pro installation:
    1. Macbook Pro stopped working, sendt it for repair. Had the Final Cut Pro installed,
    2. Desided to try a MiniMac and recovered my backup with Time Machine, got the Final Cut Pro working.
    3. Got my Macbook Pro back from repair, did backup on this one as well. But this time only the files not the Applications.
    4. Removed the files as mentioned in HT5149. Didn´t find "com.apple.motionapp.plist" to remove though, but the others I found.
    5. When I try to install Final Cut Pro from App Store, it downloads the application as planned. But after download it won´t show in the Application folder nor in the downloads folder, nor will it start an installation prosess. If I pause the installation in App Store, I can see the Final Cut Pro icon in my Dock. (But, as mentioned, after installation it won´t show neither here or in the Applications folder).
    Any suggestions on what I should try now?
    Thanks for any reply, I´m in deep water here...

    Sounds like there is a file you're not getting.  Never do a removal manually.  It's so time consuming and a pain.  There's a very easy and fast way to do this, safely, properly.
    Get the free "Final Cut Remover" app from Digital Rebellion (dot com), use this to remove FCP X.
    Reboot the Mac.
    Download from scratch.
    If you're not seeing FCP X in your app folder, run Disk Utility to Repair all drives.
    If that doesn't help, try running Disk Warrior from Altsoft to repair the directories on all drives.

  • What does this mean? /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.RemoteDesktop.plist /System/Library/Private/Frameworks/PackageKit.framework/Resources/shove

    I got this as a Webroot alert:
    /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.RemoteDesktop.plist
    /System/Library/Private/Frameworks/PackageKit.framework/Resources/shove
    Is this OK, or is it something I need to fix?
    Thanks,
    Jerry

    If there is an associated event in the Activity Monitor or in Console logs showing
    something is actually running in the background, then I'd not be too concerned.
    However, the Remote Desktop should not show any activity if you have it shut off.
    After all, it is a Client version and unless you are networked remotely to someone
    who would be controlling your Mac from elsewhere, there's no need to use it.
    The application itself, is not the client version you have in your Mac for free:
    http://www.apple.com/remotedesktop/ the main deal administers client versions.
    http://www.apple.com/remotedesktop/features.html
    May be helpful to read up on various Mac OS X system sections to see when or
    if you have odd experiences with them, where to go and look. I've not messed w/
    Remote Desktop for several years, perhaps not since Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.x.
    Questions and sometimes answers about Apple Remote Desktop, appear here:
    Servers and Enterprise Software - Apple Support Community discussions.
    Maybe you should contact the Apple person who looked into your Mac and ask
    what was involved and why these messages keep appearing. The person should
    be able to tell what they did and why they did it. And what to go into, and check...
    They may have left something or another on or enabled, that needs to be addressed.
    To see Webroot items does seem rather odd, since I've never had any messages
    from that function; unless someone had a need to go in there. (But why?)
    This thread was moved to Servers/Enterprise ASC, from an OS X ASC area, btw.
    Also, after an update or other change in the system, may be reflected in Logs or in
    the report generated by Disk Utility's repair disk permissions. These do not mean a
    bad thing has taken place, necessarily. I'm unfamiliar with the recent one you noted.
    In any event...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Com.apple.safari.plist missing in preferences folder

    Hey everybody,
    my safari has become unusably slow. I checked for solutions and found out I should delete the com.apple.safari.plist. So I browsed my preferences folder in the library for the file and could not find it. I checked my whole Library for any Safari related file and there was none.
    Has anyone an explanation for this? I already reinstalled the OS which didn't change a thing.
    I hope anybody can help me please
    I am using a mid 2012 rmbp with 8gb ram, which has become a little laggy in general since the yosemite in update

    Unfortunately, deleting the com.apple.safari.plist didn't solve my original problem. Safari is still so superslow sometimes. And then its fast again. But Chrome is always faster and immediately responding. I've run a test with Etresoft:

  • Mail wont launch at all. Deleted this: ~/library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist

    Mail wouldnt let me send outgoing mail claiming there to be an error whilst there was an outgoing connection. So I thought to completely reset the entire app and found a forum that told me to delete something >_> And so I deleted this ~/library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist and now nothing will launch. And well. Nothing is backed up. Im an idiot. ;___; I just want to go back to my chalk and slate. TECHNOLOGY HATES ME. Please help me.

    Hi Bill,
    You could also try com.apple.helpviewer.plist (in ~/Library/Preferences). Have you noted whether this is system-wide or restricted to your user account? I'd create a test account (if you don't have another on your system) and try the help menus. If they're messed up over there, then fixing things in your user folder won't help. The only system resource I could find that seems remotely relevant is /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.helpdata.plist, but I'd be verrrry careful about messing around with stuff in your System folder.
    Hope that helps!

  • Should trashed com.apple.appleworks.plist file be recreated?

    Hello,
    I just had a problem with AppleWorks crashing on start up and I fixed it by trashing the preference files below:
    Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.appleworks.plist
    Home > Library > Preferences > AppleWorks > AppleWorks 6 Assistants Cache
    Home > Library > Preferences > AppleWorks > AppleWorks 6 Button Bars
    Home > Library > Preferences > AppleWorks > AppleWorks 6 Preferences
    Home > Library > Preferences > AppleWorks > AppleWorks 6 Translators Cache
    I was expecting all the files to be recreated on starting AppleWorks again. However, the one I've coloured in red above wasn't.
    I've seached the computer but that file is now nowhere to be found. Is this normal? (AppleWorks seems to be working OK)
    {This is AW 6.2.9 on OS 10.3.9}
    Thank you,
    Chris CB
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   iMac G4 (10.3.9)

    AppleWorks will recreate the .plist when it needs it. I'm not sure when that is, but, since AppleWorks is working correctly, don't worry about it.

  • Remove com.apple.sidebarlists.plist from 450 user accounts

    I have moved my Users data to a new drive and all of the users are able to login and authenticate, however, the users get an error message on attempting to access their items from the sidebar. The solution I have found is to remove the com.apple.sidebarlists.plist and the sidebar and home directory then works fine. What I need is the UNIX command to remove the .plist file from 450 user accounts. Thanks -Eric

    Funny you ask this - because I just went through the same thing with 500 user accounts. But Roger's looks a little more elegant than mine...
    Here is my script - this one is for all users in one folder:
    dir=/Volumes/diskname/restofpath
    filename=com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
    destdir=Library/Preferences
    for user in `ls $dir`
    do
    echo Removing sidebar for $user
    echo rm $dir/$user/$destdir/$filename
    done
    This one is for users in subfolders (or group folders):
    dir=/Volumes/diskname/restofpath
    filename=com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
    destdir=Library/Preferences
    for subdir in `ls $dir`
    do
    for user in `ls $dir/$subdir`
    do
    echo Removing sidebar for $user
    echo rm $dir/$user/$destdir/$filename
    done
    done
    One caveat - it didn't seem to work when the users were currently logged in.
    Good luck!

    System files are hidden by default in Finder now, search for what you want then click the little + button on the top right of the bar that appears when you do a search. A new bar comes up and click the first box (that says "Kind"), change it to "System Files". Then change the box that says "aren't included" to "are included" and your file should show up.

  • After i had my hard drive replaced, i've gone to get my old emails and am unable to find them on time machine. The file com.apple.mail.plist isn't there. HELP!

    Pretty sure this will be some sort of user error, but i'm lost.
    I had to have my hard drive replaced, so before taking it to the genius bar, i backed up using time machine. I'd had issues with trying to use Carbon Copy Cloner previously so had formatted the external drive before doing time machine. TM seemed to work fine and copied what looked to be everything. Once i'd got the new hard drive in and went to restore everything, when i looked for the file i need to get to apparently get my mails back (Library > Preferences > com.apple.mail.plist) it's not there.
    Any help would be MASSIVELY appreciated.
    J

    Turn Time Machine OFF temporarily in its preference pane. Leave the window open.
    Navigate in the Finder to your backup disk, and then to the folder named "Backups.backupdb" at the top level of the volume. If you back up over a network, you'll first have to mount the disk image file containing your backups by double-clicking it. Descend into the folder until you see the snapshots, which are represented by folders with a name that begins with the date of the snapshot. Find the one you want to restore from. There's a link named "Latest" representing the most recent snapshot. Use that one, if possible. Otherwise, you'll have to remember the date of the snapshot you choose.
    Inside the snapshot folder is a folder hierarchy like the one on the source disk. Find one of the items you can't restore and select it. Open the Info dialog for the selected item. In the Sharing & Permissions section, you may see an entry in the access list that shows "Fetching…" in the Name column. If so, click the lock icon in the lower right corner of the dialog and authenticate. Then delete the "Fetching…" item from the icon list. Click the gear icon below the list and select Apply to enclosed items from the popup menu.
    Now you should be able either to copy the item in the Finder or to restore it in the time-travel view. If you use the time-travel view, be sure to select the snapshot you just modified. If successful, repeat the operation with the other items you were unable to restore. You can select multiple items in the Finder and open a single Info dialog for all of them by pressing the key combination option-command-I.
    When you're done, turn TM back ON and close its preference pane.

  • Library/Preferences/com.apple.alf.plist---Should be 80, group is 0

    I am new to the Mac world, so please bear with me.  I have freeze up issues with beachballs delux on my mid 2011 21.5 iMac with 2.5 GHz Intel Core I5 processor. When I run repairing permissions, it resolves the problem for a few days, but then returns back to the same problem.   It says "Library/Preferences?Com.apple.alf.plist.     Should be 80, group is 0
    Can anyone tell me how to resolve this freeze up problems?  I origiginally had Lion operating system and when I upgraded to Mountain Lion the issue was better, but did not totally cure this.

    The next time you have the problem, note the exact times when it starts and ends: hour, minute, second.
    If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
    Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
    Scroll back in the log to the time you noted above. Post any messages timestamped during that interval – the text, please, not a screenshot.
    Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.

    As the title suggests I got this issue which is annoying because it is causing high inactive memory & this obstacles all the rest . Means I must do 2-3 times a day repair permissions with Disk Utility .
    Group differs on “Library/Preferences/com.apple.alf.plist”;
    It gets repaired & then all over again . So far I could not find a solution . I have already sent feedback to Apple .
    That's all folks , if anyone knows how to handle this it would be nice , at least until there is an official response .
    Thank you , have a nice day .

    bump
    I actually have this all the time. com.apple.alf.plist is always repaired whenever Disk Utility repairs permissions.
    I also came across somewhere that it was included in the solution for a problem about iTunes requesting permission to access internet everytime it is launched. And I had that issue as well. (iTunes asks for my permission for internet access everytime I launch it.) And the solution proposed for this included the deletion of this "com.apple.alf.plist" regarding a firewall issue. Although I deleted the file, Disk Utility still repairs this file (though iTunes haven't yet asked for internet permissions.) everytime I run the permission repair.
    I suppose there has got to be a solution to keep the file stable, like without causing the repair.
    Not a big issue, as mentioned in the thread title; but still, this may be the cause or result of something going on in the computer; so any suggestions are welcome.
    Cheers!
