Cant find itunes library on apple tv

When I open Apple TV and look for my itunes library Apple TV doesnt list my computer.
I have Home Sharing turned on. What am I doing wrong?

Ipad mini remote app will connect to my itunes library and apple tv but won't display content from itunes library on the apple tv section of remote app

What I am trying to do is very simple, and I am sure I have done it before.
I have an Apple TV (2nd Gen) connected to Wifi Network (Airport Extreme 802.11n) I want to stream content from the itunes library on my macbook pro over the wifi network to the Apple TV. This works no problem, home sharing is set up and I can see the itunes library under 'Computer' on the Apple TV interface. I can use the Apple Remote to scroll through and play content from my itunes. Works no problem.
Now I want to use the remote app on my ipad mini to control the apple tv. Using up to date app (Version 3.01) Again, everything looks like it should work. I have turned on Home Sharing on the remote app settings. It works fine and both my itunes library and Apple TV show up on the interface. I can touch the itunes icon and control the itunes on my computer and play music and video on my computer screen.
Now when I touch the apple tv icon I can't see my itunes library content to play on the apple tv. I see the below image. If I tap on the icon in the bottom left it takes me back to the screen in the first image. What is the strangest thing is that I can control the apple tv using the gestures interface! This isn't what I want though and I want to be able to see the itunes library on the screen of the ipad and play it on the apple tv. You can see in the video on this link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvEpgcE9KCs). This is what I am trying to do and I just don't understand why I don't get the screen seen at 1:25 in the video. Instead I get the screen seen in the below image. Any ideas? I know that the remote app is connecting to the apple TV because I can control it using gestures, just strange I can't see the content on the ipad like in the attached video clip, instead I see the screen in the image below. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

OK, Problem solved. Software on Apple TV was VERY outdated. It had been sitting in the box for over a year and needed an update. Problem solved!

Happy to help you :) go to seeing and than general or settings than iTunes store it's for sure in settings but you may want to set it up on your computer in which case it's (windows) edit > preferences (Mac) iTunes preferences

Data usage when streaming from iTunes library to Apple TV?

I'm trying to manage my GB data usage through my ISP and was curious if, while streaming between my iTunes library and Apple TV television shows I have previously downloaded, is that using any data whatsoever? I know I used data to actually download the show initially, but once its just sitting in my library, and I call it up from my Apple TV later and start playing it, is there data usage going on? Home sharing and AirPlay don't use any data, they are done over the local network. It will then depend on the source. If any content in your iTunes library has a cloud icon then it will be streamed, if it resides on your hard drive then there is no internet connection required apart from iTunes purchases (pinging server for verification)

Connect a blank powered external drive to the PC.
Right click on the Disk in the File manager and choose format: exFAT
(if it's a XP machine, first install exFAT from Microsoft and reboot)
navigate to your user account folders on the PC and drag and drop copy (or copy and paste) to the external drive.
(if a program has your files, then export them out first)
Hook up the drive to the Mac, and transfer files to the desktop or to their same appropritate folders.
Import photo's into iPhoto program, import music into iTunes etc and they will manage those files.
You can continue to use the external exFAT drive between Mac's and PC's
Do not format the drive NTFS or FAT, NTFS can't be written too by the Mac and FAT can't hold over 4GB sized files.
If you format exFAT on the Mac, it likely won't work correctly on the PC.
"Migration" type programs are a utter waste of time and effort between PC's and Mac's for the fact that only certain files (and no programs or anything else) will work between them, also it's a hassle and takes too long. So don't even bother with it.

I have connected APPLE TV to my HDTV via HDMI cable.
Itunes is installed in my laptop.
I access itunes library on APPLE TV Menu & Try to watch the TV show that is downloaded.
But it is only streaming Video & no Audio in that.
Can any one help me here.!!!

3G is too slow. wifi is faster.

Accessing iTune Library with Apple TV?

have been successfully acessing my iTunes library on Apple TV. I recently added music from a recent CD purchase, and it does not show up when I use Apple TV. iTunes Match is on, as well as iTunes Home Sharing. When I update iTune Match I get a message saying "2126 songs are available in the iCloud," but there are 2130 songs on the MacBook Air.
I also have downloaded a software update on the Apple TV, but this does not help...

Maybe four are ineligible or have not uploaded?

Unless you deliberately downgraded iTunes at the same time this may be a sign of a corrupt library. See Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash.

Finally achieved my fix by changing channels on my Billlion router to 11, and not letting the ATV sleep. Give it a try, I spent a good four frustrating weeks until I did this.

Help - Apple TV no longer finds Itunes Library

My Apple TV (current version) stopped finding my Itunes library yesterday. Nothing appears under computers anymore. It worked fine until yesterday
-Apple TV hooked up via wifi. It is properly configured I can access the internet, netflix, etc. I changed no settings
-Itunes, latest version, on windows XP machine. No settings changed
I've tried:
-Rebooting the PC; reauthorizing the account, turning home sharing on and off on the PC; installing Itunes on 2 other XP machines on the home network; turning off the firewall
-Rebooting Apple TV; turning home sharing off and then on; restoring to factory conditions and setting everything up again.
There seems to be nothing left to do. Please help.

Apple TV does not find Itunes library (since Yosemite). Itunes finds apple tv without a problem.

Since Yosemite, my apple tv 3 (latest software) does not find my itunes library anymore (imac 27" late 2013). Vice versa, via Itunes (latest version) I can perfectly stream music and videos to my apple TV. So there is communication between the two devices, but for some reason Apple TV does not find my itunes library. Sometimes rebooting all my devices works.
any solutions for this problem?

I solved this problem in this way:
go to Preferences -- Sharing
change the name of your mac (delete ALL the existing name and choose another one)
close Preferences
restart Mac
open itunes
now check if everything works on apple tv.
