Cant find japanese fonts on web safe list

Dear Muse team,
Im working in Japan with an english operating system on mac, and have the latest Muse, but cant see any japanese fonts on the web safe list, how can i add them?
Kind regards
Richard Grehan

Hi,
Japanese web-safe fonts are only available in the Japanese version of Muse. You can switch to the Japanese version from the Preferences Dialog (you will need to restart Muse).
If you prefer to work in English Muse, you can use one of the following tricks:
- Temporarily switch to Japanese
- Create some sample text and cycle through the Japanese web-safe fonts you want to use so they appear in your "Recently Used Fonts" list
- Revert to English
- Use the Japanese web-safe fonts from the "Recently Used Fonts" list
Or,
- Temporarily switch to Japanese
- Create a starter site with some sample text in Japanese web-safe fonts you want to use. Optionally define paragraph styles with these fonts.
- Revert to English
- Copy and paste sample text (the fonts used will be retained) or specify fonts using the defined paragraph styles.
- Note that a site created in Japanese Muse has somewhat different defaults (default font is
ヒラギノ角ゴ Pro W3 rather than Arial, default leading is 175% rather than 120%, default language is [No Language])
Hope this helps,
Abhishek

  • Alignment issues with menu widget and added web safe fonts

I wanted to use a font that was not already on the web safe list so I added one. I have a background rectangle I drew in muse for the main navigation to center on. In muse, I have to shift the menu almost entirely off the rectangle for it to appear centered on the rectangle in the browser. The sub nav I created has a background fill to match the rectangle the main nav sits on. Even though there is no overlapping in muse, there is overlapping of the sub nav fill and the rectangle behind the main nav in the browser. So it looks like 50% white fill on top of 50% white fill. It's obvious and looks stupid! Is this a program bug??? Using CC muse.

I have this issue fixed. But now I'm having a new issue with objects shifting. I really think it's just Muse and the program is buggy! I have read and watched everything I can find on Muse and it's supposed to be so simple a print designer can create beautiful websites. Well, I am a web designer. I understand code. I have used Dreamweaver for 8 years. I wanted to see what was so great about Muse. I'm finding out NOTHING! Because of it's bugs I spend hours trying to fix problems the program creates. I should have just stuck with Dreamweaver! Thanks for trying to help...

  • How do I export my document in SVG using web safe fonts?

I currently have a document using text and when I try to export, I need this to be showing properly in IE. As per my reading, there is two ways I can do that:
    - Export SVG with fonts as outline: this I can't use as the file size is really too large.
    - Export SVG with fonts type set to SVG and Subsetting set to None (Use System Fonts). This option would only work if my fonts are web safe fonts like Arial (there are really only 5 true web safe fonts I believe).
When I use the second option, the problem I get is that the font that is put in my resulting svg xml is not really the web safe font. This is what I get out of Illustrator:
    <text transform="matrix(1 0 0 1 46 50.0918)" font-family="'ArialMT'" font-size="12">Test SVG</text>
    <text transform="matrix(1 0 0 1 58.5 186.5)" font-family="'Arial-BoldMT'" font-size="12">TEST BOLD</text>
There are two things that are weird:
    - Why does it use ArialMT when it should be Arial or Arial-BoldMT when it should be Arial with font-weight="bold"?
    - Why does it put the font inside single quotes inside the double quotes?
If I manually replace the above by this, it works:
    <text transform="matrix(1 0 0 1 46 50.0918)" font-family="arial" font-size="12">Test SVG</text>
    <text transform="matrix(1 0 0 1 58.5 186.5)" font-family="arial" font-weight="bold" font-size="12">TEST BOLD</text>
    Can someone please help me?
    Thanks
    Seb

File -> Export -> Masters will get your Original Raw files.

  • Nuance - CCX - cant find XML for Grammar

    Guys,
I have an Issue with CCX and Nuance where the XML that should contains the name of people is wrong, seems to be not correct.
In the old UCCX ( windows ) I was actualy able to edit the XML to play with this file, I was able to upload this file by myself in the uccx and manually add some users.
Today with the new UCCX 8.X  I got this in the logs ( see bellow ) and If I run the URL in the logs, It return a XML file but It really doesnt contain the list of the people, the file is weird.
Also, I have no Idea where it actually reside on the server, I cant find it in the Web Grammar section of UCCX.
If I can find this file I can probably modify It and put my old config in it, but... no idea where it is located..
    anyone have a suggestion ?
    10,1e001eac_00001018_522e11fa_4e39_0000,LOG,STATUS,0,2013/09/09 14:22:55.552,ctelpti006,recserver,2256,COMPILER,AppOutput,152,In <http://172.30.11.11:9080/SGrammars/lang,fr-CA/UserNuance.grxml?accept=application%2Fgrammar%2Bxml>, <user/NameGrammarNuance> failed: couldn't load

From what I know, here is how it work, also I add more description :
    Scenario :
When we call the UCCX, the Menu/AA will ask to speak the name of the person you would like to reach. ( Voice recognition )
1- CCX get the name and upload it in .WAV file to Nuance.
2- At the same time CCX will upload the grammar file to nuance. (The grammar file that contains the list of users in a xml format.  )
Nuance is suppose to download this Grammar file and also the .wav.
With our old UCCX (windows ) it was working just fine. The problem is with the new..
Since we did a backup and restore to uccx 8.5, the Nuance can't find the name of the user because Nuance get the wrong XML.
Within the logs It seems that the Grammar file that is send is not the right one, We can double click to view the grammar and it doesnt contain any name.
So I have different choice to fix this.
1 ) Figure out how to send another grammar file to nuance
2 ) Figure out where is the grammar file that is sent right now and modify it ( from the log we see the grammar file but if we click on the url the file doesnt contain name and I have no idea where it is located in UCCX )
    thanks

  • IMovie cant find camera Sony DCR-TRV33E

I have Sony DCR-TRV33E Camcorder and MacOSX Tiger. is it really so that it is not possible to use the camera with iMovie? I cant find this type from the supported list http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/camcorders.html there are tens of other DCR-TRVs. The problem is that the iMovie 5.02 cant find the camera, (the “camera is not connected” was the report from the program) I have also tried to reset the camera but it does not help. And yes Iam using iLink/FireWire cabel. Previously I was using it with Mac os9. The camera is only about 2 years old. Should I use MacOs 9 for this and if yes is the new iMovie working with MacOs9?
If there is drivers etc… to resolve this problem could you please tell me where to download them.
    All the best
    Tapio Onnela

    Hi Tapio
Please try Your Camera on another Mac - to see that the A/D chip is OK
in the Camera. If defect then it behaves just as You describe:
    - camera connected
    - camera windig forward and backward
    - no picture
See if my list can help:
    Capture/Import problems:
    a) File-Vault is on - turn it off
    b) don’t Daisy chain camcorder - external hard disk - Mac
    c) Slow hard disk (fragmented: repair permissions, repair hard disk, use a faster hard disk)
    d) Something is occupying the CPU/System, like other programs, Internet etc.
    e) Bad RAM-chips
    f) drop outs on the miniDV-tape - make a camera to camera copy on a tape which You have previous recorded with a time code (dummy recording).
    g) FW-wire cable OK?
    h) Break in the time-code on the miniDV tape (make a camera to camera copy on a tape which is prerecorded with nothing/anything so that the tape has a time-code from beginning to the end)
    i) defective camera TRY IT ON ANOTHER MAC !
    j) remove bookmarks in iMovie project
    k) Do You have desktop pictures or screen-savers active? Try turning them off.
    l) Updating - OS has to be a clean install - not an update eg from X.3.x to X.4.x (no good)
OS X.4.0-2 needs a clean install to work (I use X.3.9)
    m) Updating QT and/or other updates (to 7 needs v6 to be cleaned out first)
QT v.7 needs a clean install to work (I use 6.5.2)
    n)
Have you tried the crazy fix:
Open GarageBand, play a few notes, close it and reopen iMovie. The camera should import fine now.

  • Adding Web safe Japanese fonts to muse

    Dear Muse team
I'm having the same problem as Richard Grehan
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5492379#5492379
I'm working in both Japanese and English but i use an english operating system, I'd like to add some websafe japanese fonts to muse via Typekit, Abhishek.G suggested the following:
    - Temporarily switch to Japanese
    - Create some sample text and cycle through the Japanese web-safe fonts you want to use so they appear in your "Recently Used Fonts" list
    - Revert to English
    - Use the Japanese web-safe fonts from the "Recently Used Fonts" list
However this method doesn't allow you to add new fonts and you can only use the web safe fonts already on your system. When you try to search on typekit you are confronted with the same list of non-Japanese fonts see above. Using the fonts already on my system gives me a choice of one font, not really ideal. I know many people out there who have to design bilingual sites so if you could suggest another method to access websafe Japanese fonts in muse I'd be most grateful. Ideally I'd like to keep my operating system in English.
    Thanks
    E Thoburn

    Hi,
Are you not seeing ヒラギノ角ゴ Pro W3, ヒラギノ明朝 Pro W3, Osaka-等幅 in the Web Safe fonts section in Japanese version of Muse?
If so, please post  a screenshot.
As for using Arial, please note that Arial does not include Japanese characters. The browser/OS will use a fallback font, which is why it appears to work. However, different fallback fonts may be used for different site visitors, so your won't have a consistent look-and-feel.

  • Is there a list of web-safe fonts that Captivate 8 will accept or an option to include other web-safe fonts?

The problem I've encountered is that text generated by a variable will only display as a web safe font and not always the same one across machines. Also different developers are seeing different font options. For instance on my machine,  Helvetica LT 75 Bold is listed, but no other Helvetica options. Another developer has Helvetica LT 77 Bold Condensed instead.
    My questions are:
Is there a list of web-safe fonts that CP8 will use?
Can this list be expanded somehow?
    Thank you,
    Kelly

Web safe fonts really doesn't have the same meaning as something like web safe colors. While you will generally be OK with selecting a web safe font, it's only web safe in the concept of a font then defaulting to a font on the end users computer that they actually have installed. The default types are serif, sans-serif, and monotype, but then you have more distinct variations which you can see here, CSS Web Safe Fonts.
You'll need to keep in mind that not every person has Arial or Times New Roman installed. Because of this you may have someone that has Helvetica or Times. Both fall under their same respective font families, but will look a little different depending on what the user has installed.

  • Why isn't Tahoma in the list of web-safe fonts? (Was: Tahoma)

Why they didnt add Tahoma on web safe fonts? I hope they will add this to the next update.

    Hi,
We're always considering different bundling opportunities but
we didn't think it was the right fit for CS3 right as CS3 launched.
We may do something later, but for now you'll need to purchase
    separately.

Hi. I am trying to use Bridge to make web galleries. There used to be something on PS for that but now I cant find it in PS so I was advised to use Bridge.  However, there is something called Output Module (AOM) that is missing from my Bridge.  I downloaded this.  The instructions say :Copy the Adobe Output Module folder (not the AOM_Package_[OS] folder) into the Bridge CC Extensions folder in the appropriate location:
    Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Bridge CC Extensions
Mac OS: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Bridge CC Extensions.  However there is noplace on my Macbook Air running Yosemetie that has this /Library/Applications SUpport/Bridge CC Extensions. Can anyone advise?

That file could be set as a Launch Agent or Daemon in your ~/Library or /Library, You could try to look for it or Safeboot your computer and then empty the trash. Safebooting disables Launch Agents/Daemon and Third Party Kernal extensions. Here's the article to Safeboot OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? - Apple Support

  • Chinese Web Safe Fonts

    Hi,
Is that correct that there is no way to use Chinese web safe fonts in Muse?
I've been looking around and found only a few references but no solutions. It's quite surprising because it's not only a deal-breaker for me, needing Chinese fonts for a lot of my projects, but I believe also for an ever growing number of designers targeting Chinese speaking audience. And it's not like that there are no web safe Chinese fonts out there (to name just a few: Hiragino Sans GB (冬青黑体简体中文) Microsoft Yahei (微软雅黑) Simsun (宋体) Simhei (黑体)).

Unfortunately you cannot use Chinese web safe fonts , you can try self-hosting if you  can find Chinese fonts that can be licensed for use on the web.
    Thanks,

  • How are non iWeb sites able to use non "web-safe fonts?

I know there is a list of "x" number of "web-safe fonts" that we should stick to. However, we all see incredible fonts all over the internet on non iWeb sites.
What is it that makes the non-safe fonts work for them. Is there anything we can do to make those fun fonts work for us? I don't have specific examples (sorry). . .just looking for a general answer
    Thanks,
    roxpat

The type of file compression to use for web pages is dictated by the number of colors required. Since graphics slow down a web site, your mission is to get the best overall appearance, with the smallest file sizes. The most popular forms of graphic compression are .gif and .jpg
.gif files are limited to 256 colors which work very well for non-photo types of graphics (logo's, etc) and .gif also supports transparency, where you can actually make a graphic appear to be 'cut-out' against a different color background. Gradients do not work well with .gif files.
.jpg files are more suitable for photo's due to the thousands or even millions of shades of colors in skin tones, vegetation, whatever. Jpg's do not support transparency or animation.
Photoshop Elements would be a very good program to pick as an overall web and photo retouching program. The "Save For Web" feature is sweet. You can even continue to use iPhoto to manage your photo library and choose a program like Photoshop as an 'External Editor' to actually work on the pictures.
Adobe Illustrator is probably not where you want to start. There is a learning curve to work with shapes (vectors) instead of actual dots on a page, and it's native format is not compatible with any web browsers. It's really not suitable for photo's at all. It is very powerful when working with commercial graphics that need to be sharp at all sizes, but probably more than you want to deal with.

    Hi,
Sorry, there are no "Chinese fonts" deisgnated as "web-safe" in Muse.
Do you have some examples of Chinese fonts that are broadly available (on Chinese OS), and can be considered "web-safe"?
