Cant find my library.
I have about 5 days worth of music (itunes & other) on my library, but after the latest update they have all gone except my purchases from Itunes. Can anyone explain why and how I can upload my music again. Thanks.
Having this same problem. Had to reload iTunes and now the new version neither recognizes my iPod nor can it "locate" all my music. The error reads "The song _______ could not be found becasue the original file cannot be located. Would you like to locate it?" If I click OK, then I go to a browser screen no one could understand.

However during the process of adding new songs itunes crashed and i had to end task therefor not getting the chance to sync the new songs onto ipod nano. later when i plugged in my current ipod touch all my songs have disappeared and i cant find the original itunes library i had for it! is there anyway to get it back? i have tried pressing shift when opening itunes but still cant find the original itunes that i had!!
Since all of your music came from your computer in the first place, then it should still be there and should be included in your backup copy of your computer.
" it told me when i pluged hers in 2 ipods could not use the same account"
This is not true. You have misunderstood.
You can sync as many ipods/iphones/ipads as you like to one one library. -

My 1 year old was playing w/ my keyboard and I think accidentally erased Iphoto. The icon is still on the toolbar, but when I click on it I get a message saying "iPhoto can’t continue without a Photo Library. Make sure the disk containing your Photo Library is connected." Please help me recover the missing folder. It's not in Trash and a search didnt help.
Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
If Spotlight will find your photos under Originals, then you can find where the library is. If i has been moved then you'll need to get it back to the Pictures Folder.
If it's in the Pictures Folder, then you likely have a damaged library. For details on correcting this:

Yes, you need to watch your disk space very carefully. That disk is very full and you should consider using an external disk to store files.

Itunes cant find my library in external HD
Ok Gang...
I consolidated my library and moved it to an external HD. I changed the advanced setting info to find my new external HD. But when I open Itunes it comes up blank no music library. Help How do I correct this problem. How do I tell Itunes to find my external HD and open the library? There's been a few threads about this recently. Where we've all come unstuck is that even if we can get Itunes to look in the right place for the music (by consolidating, or dragging the files into the library) ... IT STILL LOSES ALL THE USER-GENERATED INFORMATION.
That is to say; you'll find your music again, but all the album art, ratings, playlists and so on that you made yourself will be gone gone gone.
No-one so far has come up with a solution to this. Several of us have found that even if we input it all again, it's lost the next time we connect the External.
If anyone has found a solution, PLEASE tell us, because this problem makes the entire ITunes experience time-consuming and pointless. You might as well go back to having a big pile of CDs on your bedroom floor! -

IPhoto Shared Library - Cant Find After Restore from Backup
Hello, I hope someone can help. A couple of years ago I created a shared iPhoto library image (I believe it was a mounted image file) so that two (2) users on a single iMac could view/add files collectively. I have been using the Time Machine backup since we purchased the iMac, and for years everything was fine. Recently, the HD failed and we had to have Apple install a new one. After successfully restoring all files/settings from the latest time machine backup, I noticed that the shared iPhoto library is no longer available. iPhoto asks for the library location upon launch, but I cant find this file anywhere.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to bring this shared image file back, and remount it so that I can find my photos?
Thanks for the help!iLife requires 10.4.10, I believe. Have you updated back to that OS?

Restoring backed up itunes library - itunes cant find my music HELP
Hi guys,
Im hoping someone can help me as im currently puling my hair out...
Just bought myself a new laptop after my old system got a virus, i followed apples guid to backing up my music to an external hard drive and can confirm all my music is safe, however upon following instructions to restore the itunes library for use on this pc, i have hit a brick wall, it seems you need aa degree to get itunes to work correctly..
I copied the itunes folder as directed to the desigated path under users and chose to replace the itunes folder saved on my c drive. Now itunes is displaying all my songs and album art work etc, but when i try to play the music it cant find the original file??? This is driving me insane, im desperate for some help.
Ive even looked into ituneswift but i cant use it as its looking for a .twf file which i dont have?
Can someone please instruct me how to get itunes to find my music, it works if i click the file but it wont work if i select the song through itunes.
Many thanks in advance....
DafSomehow just got it all working again!! wooohooo, just chose the path to locate the original file and itunes then ask if id like to search this folder for the other files i said yes and now it seems to be back working woohoooooo

I just downloaded itunes 11 and now i cant find the display duplicates..and it doesnt show the total amount of songs in my library..anybody know..??
Two Windows scripts to make playlists of Duplicates and Exact Duplicates. Use shift-delete to remove selected tracks from the library as well as the playlist.
There is also my DeDuper script if you don't want to do it by hand. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping. See this thread for background.
