Cant find my saved image back in iPhoto

Just bought PSE11. Still using iPhoto as my organizer. But when I finish an edit and save, I can't find my image.
I understand that if I save without changing the file name or type, it should put it back in the same origin file.
I tried setting my save settings in PSE to write over original and it still didn't show up. I tried making a duplicate
in iPhoto and editing it .... nothing.
In the destination box that opens upon asking it to save, everything looks good. ie it appears to be saving it in
an extension on an extension of a numbered file in the iPhoto library. Sorry, I know this is probably something
easy, but Im not seeing it.

This is the window that opens when I File>Save or when I just hit the X to close
This is how my save preferences are set
Should I uncheck that "Save as to Original Folder" box?
Thanks Again,
DW

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Since you don't have a backup, my first suggestion is to get an external Firewire hard drive and Prosoft Data Rescue.
It may be able to recover the information.
If you think you might have moved the User folder, or one of its subfolders by mistake, or named it something different, there is this article which can help:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107854
Though if your Applications are gone, I'm not sure that it will. Still take a look and see if that's what your issue is.

  • Saving images back to LR5 from PSCC

I have noticed that when saving images back into LR5 after editing them in PSCC that the images are darker and more contrasty than they were in PSCC. This is when I either merge to 32 bit HDR and save it back into LR for further editing or merge to 32 bit HDR, edit in ACR and then save back into LR5. It seems that there is something missing in the XMP data information between the two programs or I am missing a setting somewhere.  Thanks

  • Saving edited images back to iPhoto

I'm having problems saving images in PSE back to iPhoto.
I have set up the preferences in iPhoto (11-for Mac) to use PSE 10 as the editting software.  I have also followed Barbara B's guidance on setting the file saving options in PSE10 to 'One first Save' - 'Save over current file'. - but once I have editted an image and I wish to save it (back to iPhoto) I am instead given the usual choices associated with a 'save as...' option.  To minimise effort, I then save the changed image to the Desktop and then drag it back to iPhoto.
I know this have been covered before I have read the solutions, but it seems that the changed image it not automatically being imported back to iPhoto.
Perhaps I have not set up the Preferences correctly - any suggestions?

If you start the process in iPhoto by hitting the edit button near bottom right, then any changes made in the external editor should update automatically after you save in Elements (Cmd+S) and close (Cmd+W)
The process is not always smooth with raw files but should work with jpegs.
Note, you cant use the editing tool in iPhoto once you set up Elements editor as the external editing app.
    See this Adobe tech note:

  • Restore saved photobook back to iphoto?

    Hi,
Please help. A while back I created a photobook of my holidays and saved it as a pdf file. Since then I must've deleted the photobook in iphoto (thinking "it's ok, I've got the pdf file") but I never actually ordered the book. Now I want to order it. How can I get the pdf book back into iphoto? It took some time to create so I'd rather not have to do it again.
    Thanks in advance.
    Lee

    Hi iLee,
You cannot get it back into iPhoto. Luckily you have the PDF so you can open it and use it as a reference when you build your new book.
There is an online site called SharedInk.com that allows you to upload a PDF for a book. check it out and do a search in these forums for SharedInk.com.

I am able to click on a pic in iphoto to edit it and opens automatically in photoshop CS6. However when I am done editing and save I can not save back into Iphoto.  Can any one help wiht this?

Thanks Terence. What a relief. I still don't understand what the book I read was talking about then. Here's a quote from the section I was referring to in "iPhoto 08: The Missing Manual" book, p 91 (ISBN: 0596-516185):
"Note, however, that the instant you edit a TIFF-format photo (Chapter 7), iPhoto converts it into JPEG.
That's fine if you plan to order prints or a photo book (Chapter 11) from iPhoto, since JPEG files are required for those purposes. But if you took that once-in-a-lifetime, priceless shot as a TIFF file, don't do any editing in iPhoto-don't even rotate it- if you hope to maintain its perfect, pristine quality."
After my test results, I thought maybe this was something that had changed from iPhoto 08 to iPhoto 09, so I went to the bookstore yesterday and checked the same book for iPhoto 09, and there it was, the same quote! (on a different page, of course).
Anyway, thanks once again for your confirmation that my test was indeed correct. Linda

  • Putting images back into iPhoto 4.0.3 - why so many?

    Hi
A while ago made some back-up DVDs of images - 2004, 2005 and so on - using iP to do so. Then we removed all but 2007's pics from iP to make more room, although by your standards we had hardly anything in the library (at the time an iMovie project was seriously hogging all the spare space!)
Couple of problems yesterday while trying to put the "iPhoto Library" disc for 2004 back into iP:
    1. the disc wasn't recognised, kept self-ejecting after 20 secs or so, took several loading attempts for it to show up in Finder and then in iP's list - any ideas why? (talk about heart-stopping!)
    2. I used File, Import command from within iP to see the disc in Finder, and selected the disc to import All.
Was that the wrong thing to do?
It took ages - I guess more than an hour? - and now the library has swollen by 2300 images, instead of just 1200. There was also an alert at the end of the import saying that 999 items could not be imported (sorry, didn't take note of the exact wording).
So - what should I have done? Can I delete the whole import and start again safely? (I'll have to select the images first as it's not a film roll or album all on its own.)
I would like to find a small number of images to email and/or print at home, then I'd like to export the whole year onto a windows-compatible disc (using Finder to burn), as we forgot to do that before removing the images the first time. I had expected the newly loaded collection would be seperate from the rest of the library, so now I will have to re-create a new album first won't I? - what a pain.
Sorry to sound so daft, I did look in iPhoto Help but the only tip I could see there to import "other than from a camera" was to do what I did.
    cheers
    Rebecca

    Thanks Brie Fly
When the DVD was eventually read, it did come up in iPhoto's album list on the side. However, the only option listed in File was to import. Export was grey. I tried to drag the whole collection (after command-A) into the album list but nothing happened. I think it 'bounced back', from memory.
I previously had viewed another iPhoto Library disc (for 2006), and dragged about 3 or 4 images across (individually) to the album list; they were 'imported' and dropped into a new folder that iP created for the first one.
I guess that I could do the same again when I find the ones I need off the 2004 disc. But what should I do to export all the images from this year, as one whole, in order to back-up to another disc? I want to do this so it can be used on windows or by the printing company.
BTW the extra images and film rolls appear to be thumbnails. Each 'original roll' has another roll following titled 'thumbs'.
    Thanks

  • Re-sizing iPhoto images back to iPhoto original size?

One of the first things I did with my iPhoto file, was to delete all those sappy flags and other images not relevant to anything I ever intend to use. Unfortunately, I inadvertently (?) also deleted most all of my jpgs, except I can recall all of them, but only as teensy Preview images, which I have filed as Assorted jpgs, which I have to enlarge just to view.(?) Can I drag 'n drop that file into iPhoto and see them as images larger than a match head? OR, is it possible to insert one of the accompanying Application Discs and make my iPhoto Application like it...used to was?

No - you have destroyed your library and deleted your photos - your only chance for recovery is a backup or if the originals folder in the iPhoto library has photos in it or if a hard drive undelete program like file salvage - http://subrosasoft.com/OSXSoftware/index.php?mainpage=product_info&productsid=1
Never, Never, Never make any changes of any type to the content or structure of the iPhoto library - doing so will corrupt your library and loose data
This is not an applications issue - it is a destroying the database issue by modifying it

  • Can I Find A Specific Image From an iPhoto Backup?

I have some video and pictures I accidently deleted a while ago and I wanted to see if I could locate them in a Time Machine back up of iPhoto.
I've never done this before but any help would be great.

    No
You have to restore the older library to a different location and export them from it. Or use IPLM http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ to move them

    g4 powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I lost an image in the same way---Aperture crashed while I was moving the image. But I was able to recover the image and in the process learned a lot about how Aperture works from the point of view of storage and security and back-up. So
    1. Do you have a back-up of your Aperture Library in an Aperture Vault? If so, you can run Restore Library from the Vault. But this is a fairly lengthy process.
    2. If you have a back-up, you can go to it and "Open Package Contents" using the Finder; and then find the image missing from your Aperture Library and make a copy to your Desktop; then Import the image back into your Aperture Library.
    3. If you don't have a back-up---and this is a very dangerous way to live!---try Rebuilding the Aperture Library. To Rebuild, quit Aperture; then hold down Command and Option while rebooting Aperture; and then follow the Rebuild instructions.
    4. Another possibility, which is similar to the procedure used when a document becomes corrupted and won't open, is to find your problem image file in the Aperture Library (use "open package contents" in the Finder); copy it to the Desktop and see if it will open in Preview. Sometimes copying a corrupted document or image file will correct the corruption. If the copy opens in Preview, re-Import the image into Aperture and try it there.
And, after all is said and done, be sure to have a back-up of the Aperture Library at all times. It will save your skin over and over.
