Cant find photo from Mail in iPhoto

From Mail, I selected Save. The photo went into Downloads.
I went to iPhoto but how do I get the photo into iPhoto. Does it appear by default or do I have to do something from Download folder?

IF you saved the photo to the Downloads folder, you now need to add the pic to iPhoto. Drag it to the iPhoto Window, or to the Dock Icon or use the File -> Import command.
On the other hand, if you click and hold on the Save button in the Message window you'll get an option to Save to iPhoto.

  • Plugin to transfert photo from Mail to iPhoto?

    Hi,
My mother is using 10.3 Mail and iPhoto 5 (ithink, not sure of the version!).
She received many times photos in Mail. She would like a simple way to move pintures from Mail attachement to iPhoto. 10.4 includes a feature like this.
I'd like to know if there is any Mail plugin or any (really easy) hint that can help her move her photos from Mail to iPhoto.
    Thanks

    Steve --
I'm not positive about panther, but what happens if your mother selects the "SAVE" button next to the Paper Clip "Attachments" notice at the bottom of the mail header? (Just above the actual message)
In Tiger, you get the option to download the files, or "Add to iPhoto." Have her check this, OK?

  • All of sudden my Apple Mail won't transfer photos from Mail to iPhoto using the "add to iPhoto" feature in the drop down menu

All of sudden my Apple Mail won't transfer photos from Mail to iPhoto using the "add to iPhoto" feature in the drop down menu. Do you know how to fix this?

mmchisholm - just so you know you're not alone, I too am having the exact same issue as of latest software update bundle. Have to manually add each photo until Apple issues solution or minor software update.

  • When I save photo from mail to iPhoto - are there two copies?

I am trying to avoid filling my hard drive unnecessarily and so I am trying to find out, if I save photos to iphoto from mail, should I then delete the email ? so I dont have two copies of the photo wasting space on my hard drive? Sorry if this is too basic a question

If your concerned about space then yes, I woudl recommend doing that.

  • Cant export photos from Iphone to Iphoto?

Never an issue until recently. Always just plugged the Iphone into my MacBook and Iphoto would automatically import new photos taken on my Iphone and ask if I wanted to import. Now I cant seem to get any response. I can sync my phone normally, I can put new events etc from the computer to the phone but not the other way. When I click the "import" in Iphoto my Iphone is not an option.

This means your iPhone is no longer recognized by iPhoto at all when connected when your iPhone includes photos in the Camera Roll. Does your iPhone's Camera Roll include any photos saved from a received email or from a website? If so, this has been attributed to causing this problem and I'm not sure why. I haven't experienced the same yet and I've saved some photos from a received email, from a website, or from a received MMS.
If you have any photos in your iPhone's Camera Roll that were not captured by your iPhone, email these photos to yourself for access with the Mail.app on your Mac followed by deleting the photos from your iPhone's Camera Roll. The photos can be saved from the received message with the Mail.app on your Mac into iPhoto.
    Check if this resolves it.

  • How to import photos from Mail to iPhoto and preserve the date created?

I have several photos sent to me via email attachments in Mail which I want to "add to iphoto."  When I do this, the original date of the photo changes to "today's date."
When I drag the photo to the desk top, the file (photo) properties change and the date changes to "today's date."
Is there a way to import photos and preserve the original date the photo was taken?  For example,  if my family finally got around to sending me photos from 4th of July, I know the date is 7/4/2012, not today's date, 10/9/2012.
I want to avoid the time/work of doing batch changes on countless photos I want to add to iphoto.
    iphoto 11
    mail 5.3
    Lion 10.7.5

    Larry, I need more information...
Using what you said, I ran some tests using photos taken with my digital camera in iPhoto.  My photos show the following information in the "information" sidebar:
    •type of camera
    •Flash on
    •Format size
    •File size (MB)
    •File type (jpeg)
    •Frame "number"
    •Month/day/year/hour/min/sec/AM-PM
Then I tried to email a photo to myself:  I have tried:  "share," "attach," "drag/drop" a photo into email and sent it to myself as a test.  Once the photo arrives in my Mail inbox, I have tried various ways to add this "test" photo into iPhoto:
    "Add to iphoto"
    "drag into iphoto"
    "export into iphoto"
Each time, iphoto created the photo with "today's date."  In the past, I would get an alert:  Photo already exists in iphoto, do you still want to import?  Duplicate or Cancel
Can you elaborate on, "if the photo properties are present and correctly formatted then iPhoto uses them."
When I drag a photo to the desktop and double-click to preview the photo, the top of the preview window says:
P1009.jpg -- locked (gray lettering of the word "locked")
Is there a setting I need to change to "unlock" the properties of my photos?*
    Thanks!!
    MG
*My original post focuses on importing photos sent from other people.  I am hoping if I can solve the matter with my own photos, other photos will import with original dates created, too.

  • Nonfunctioning command to move photos from Mail to iPhoto

Does anyone know why Apple does not fix the lack of function of the drop down command to move photos from Apple Mail to iPhoto? Fix the problem or remove the nonfunctioning command. Dragging as a fix is not solution. Seven months is enough time to fix this.

Hold down on the image and select Save Image. The photo will be saved to the Camera Roll in the Photos App.

  • Can't find photos from 2010 in iphoto?

Recently I had to find Christmas photos for 2010 as well as my photos from my overseas trip also 2010. I know that i put them into iphoto from my iphone. They aren't on my iphone anymore as that crashed but I did do a backup of the iphone in itunes before that happened. Do photos of a different year get put somewhere else??? I am very new to a Mac. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers

No, photos from a different year don't get put somewhere else.
Try use a Smart Album ro find them:
    File -> New Smart Album
Date is in the Range -> 1/1/2010 to 31/12/2010

  • Photos from Mail to iPhoto

when i click the button to save my photo in an email in Apple Mail straight to iPhoto, i cant see it in iPhoto. Am i being a bit thick? Where in iPhoto does it go?
i list all photos and look at the latest photo, as the photo is a very recent one, but its not there.
    does it go somewhere else?

really need some help here. Everything i read says this operation should be as simple as it sounds but:
if my photos are going into iphoto, and these photos are dated today so should appear at the bottom of my photo list on 'all photos' in iphoto, i cant see them?!?!
my iphoto through a quirk when installing it is called 'iPhoto08' for some unknown reason and i cant change it. i havent needed to as it doesnt affect anything. could this be the problem? How do i change its name if so?

  • Importing photos from mail to iphoto in 10.3.9? any programs?

Anyone know of any program or Applescript that will automatically add photos to iPhoto from an email? I know Tiger has this built in, but my grandmother has 10.3.9 on an old iMac and has trouble remembering how to save attachments and import them into iPhoto.
I don't know applescript enough (really don't know it at all) to write a script to do this.
    Thanks.

    /Gary, you encouraged me... /
    I'm no iPhoto specialist…
    but...
a fully-automatic script would add ANY pic to iPhoto, including the nice "get viagra cheaper".gif or "stock alert!".gif, that flood my IN-box...
so, Grandma would need to do a context-menu click...
    but doing clicks....
why not showing her drag'n drop? Mail + iPhoto open (ok, needs some arrangement on screen)
    grab pic, drop into iPhoto…
    this is an age-independend metaphor...

  • TS4435 Cannot save photos from Mail to iPhoto!

We have been UNABLE to save photos for FIVE months and have asked Apple Staff anf Joint Venture for help.
ONLY NOW we find out that Apple KNOWS about this and refuses to repair it!
I am sorry, but this is NOT the Apple we knew under Steve!!!

This problem is an OS problem not an iPhoto one, so it will take an OS update to fix it, not an iPhoto one.
10.8.2 is the current version of the Operating System. I got it from Software Update, like everyone else does.

  • Cannot save photos from Mail, faded iPhoto icon?

    Hi,
Stumped again, I have been emailed 11 photos as an attachment in my Mail application. I want to place the photos into iPhoto, logically click SAVE and hold and then SAVE ALL....the next window opens and looking at PICTURES, the iPhoto Library is faded out, not allowing for saving.
Seems I have missed something, previous to iPhoto '08 this was not an issue in my memory.
    Solutions?
    Cheers, SZ

It works for me so there's gotta be some glitch in your library or application. Run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Problems on exporting screenshot photos from mail to iPhoto

Hi, i received an e-mail with three screenshot photos and tried to export them to iPhoto using the menu-button (german label: "sichern|Zu iPhoto hinzufügen ...") provided in the mail window and discovered two Problems:
    1. instead importing three different screenshots, iPhoto did import one of the screenshots three times. Maybe this was caused by all screenshots having the same attachment name "pastedGraphic.tiff"
    2. iPhoto show problems identifying the picture source: The german Message is:
Das Foto "pastedGraphic.tiff" konnte nicht geöffnet werden, da das Original nicht gefunden wurde".
this is not so nice, because the message appears once for every picture imported.
Does anyone know something about this behaviour? Is there a way to fix it?

Not necessarily.  Works for me with Mavericks and iPhoto 9.5.

  • Exporting photos from mail to iPhoto

If someone sends me a photo in an e-mail (not an attachment) how do I export the photo to my iPhoto library?

If someone sends me a photo in an e-mail (not an
attachment) how do I export the photo to my iPhoto
    library?
There are several ways to do this:
    (1) put your pointer on the picture, hold down the mouse and drag out of the Mail window onto your Desktop. This will create a new icon on your Desktop with a name like "image...jpg". Drag this to the icon of iPhoto which is in your Dock.
    (2) believe it or not, ALL photos ARE attachments. Double-click on the e-mail message to open it in a separate window. Under the Headings (To: , Date:, Subject:, etc.) it will list how many attachments there are. To the right of this is a Save button. Click and hold this. The last item should be "Add to iPhoto". Click on this, and your photo(s) will be put in iPhot.
    Hope this helps!
