Have followed instuctions on how to lock my ipad butwhen ibring up the task bar at the bottom and slide it the controls there is no lock only a volume icon ..any ideas

Use the side switch then in your case. That is where your screen lock is set to. Read Understanding the Side Switch.

I am trying to find the "library button" on my iPad ITunes screen. Need to synch the iPad to a MacBook to transfer a downloaded movie from MacBook to iPad.

The library refers to iTunes on the Mac - not the iPad. If the movie is in the iTunes library on the Mac, sync it to the iPad using iTunes.
Connect the iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Movies Tab on the right.
Click on the movie that you want to sync
Click on the Sync Movies Heading.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
If you do not see the sidebar in iTunes 11 - go to View>Show Sidebar from the iTunes menu at the top of the screen. Option+Command+S is the keyboard shortcut to enable the sidebar on a Mac.

If you are using a Mac the option to de authorise is under the advanced tab on the menu bar in iTunes I would expect the authorise option to be in the same place if your Mac isn't authorised.

The same way you would sync with any other version of iTunes.
Connect the device.
Select the device.
Select Sync.
In the new version of iTunes, the sidebar is disabled by default. With a device connected, it will be listed in the upper right hand corner.
If you want the side bar back, type Cntrl + S.

We have just purchased Apple TV and can't connect to Home Sharing. We have wifi, the iPad is updated. I can't find the link on ITunes on the iPad that the tv is telling me to click. I've also tried turning it on via settings then music which seems to be connected. I can view YouTube clicks on the tv, but not an app so I can watch the footy. What am I doing wrong.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Make sure your Apple TV is on the same network as your iPad. The SSID and password of router must be set in your Apple TV.

I don't know why swiping isn't working.
On the startup page for Firefox Mobile, do you have a link at the bottom that says "Set Up Sync"?
If you tap the Android menu button and choose Preferences, is there a Sync section starting around the 4th line?
I think either of those should get you to the next step.

Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases. I have 2nd gen Ipad which I recently updated to ios 6.1.2 and my auto cover lock does not work, so is the lock button, i cannot lock my ipad manually!!

I recently updated my ipad wifi only to the new ios 6.1.2 and initially I had the auto cover lock option which can be seen in the Generals tab, but then it stoped working!! Before the update, the auto cover lock worked fine. So after trying all the options, I then did a complete reset on the ipad and now its gone all together from the General tab!! I can no longer see the "auto cover lock" option.
It got really annoying when I tried to use the lock button and it wont lock the sceen!! To test whether the button was allright, I did a long press and the message came if I wanted to shut down the ipad. So the button works fine, but I cannot use it to manually lock the ipad. Now the only way to lock the ipad is to wait for 2 mins (autolock) and still I cannot wake up the Ipad using the lock button. To do that I have to use the Home Screen button
Does any one else have similar issues and any solutions pls!! Cheers

The iPad cover lock is for when you use a cover with magnets in it to lock and unlock the iPad when you close the cover or open it. Try running a refrigerator magnet along the sides of the iPad and see if that trips the iPad Cover Lock back into the settings.
That is not the same thing as the iPad Auto Lock setting which allows you to set an allotted time before the iPad goes to sleep.
You can try resetting all settings to see if the Auto Lock feature retinrs to the iPad.
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. This can be a little time consuming re-entering all of the device settings again.
