Cant get Flash to work in Safari!

I have several Mac set ups.
On some of them, Flash content plays back fine in Safari.
But on this system :
Leopard 10.5.5
Model Name: Power Mac G5
Model Identifier: PowerMac7,2
Processor Name: PowerPC 970 (2.2)
Processor Speed: 1.8 GHz
Number Of CPUs: 2
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 3 GB
Bus Speed: 900 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 5.1.4f0
I can not get Flash to work, EVER!
Drives me crazy.
I have installed the latest version of Flash over and over.
It never takes.
I've had this problem for about a year.
I've read these forums over and over.
I've asked my tech guy at work a dozen times.
He cant figure it out.
Is there no solution other than using Firefox?
This is ridiculous.

The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
Note that Adobe requires you to uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing.
Some users have mentioned that the latest Flash Player versions (v.9.0.115.0 and 9.0.124.0) in some cases conflict with Leopard 10.5.4, and that they have needed to revert to v. 9.0.47. This can be downloaded from here:
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14266&sliceId=1
You should also ensure that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2008-007. (N.B. Security Updates require both a restart and a permission repair.)
But the latest version 10 of FlashPlayer should work fine.

  • Can't get flash to work on Safari

Hey so recently I wiped my hard drive and reinstalled snow leopard to get rid of a messy computer full of files. Anyways when I reinstalled snow leopard I had to download adobe flash again. The download and install go fine but when I open up Safari it says I don't have flash player installed when I try to watch Youtube or Facebook videos. The weird thing is that Firefox has it installed and works fine. Any help?

    HI,
Try uninstalling your current copy of Flash, reinstall new, then repair permissions.
Go here and follow the instructions. Uninstall Flash
Install the most recent version of Flash here.
    Now repair permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
You must uninstall the old copy first !!

  • Pb 1.67 powerPC 10.5.8 cant get flash to work on it

I am trying to get a flash player to work on my Powerbook G4 with 10.5.8

The last release that works with PowerPC was made in 2010 and is version 10.1.102.64.  See this thread on the Adobe forum on the steps to install it: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/857425 . Note that some sites require a more current version, in which case you're out of luck.

  • How do I get flash to work on safari os 10.8

Flash will not run on iMac with os 10.8
    Works and all others.
    Plug in missing.
Will not work after new instal

From the Finder click Go>Go to Folder and type in /Library/InternetPlugins. Remove the FlashPlayer plugin to the Trash and empty the trash. Also there may be a Disabled Plugins folder in /Library. Do the same. Restart and download & install FlashPlayer from Adobe's website.

  • Flash not working in Safari 5

Flash has been buggy for me in Safari 5, ever since I updated the Flash player last week to "10.1 r53". Either Flash files don't play at all, or just the audio plays without video.
Per the instructions on these boards, I have:
    1. reset Safari
    2. uninstalled flash player
    3. installed the flash player
    4. repaired permissions
    5. restarted
The issue is still there. Firefox plays Flash files, YouTube, etc. just fine. Safari does not.
I'm running SL 10.6.4, latest Software Updates.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

I created a new account. Flash works in the new account. That's cool, but I really don't want to re-locate all my prefs, etc., just for a buggy plugin.
    So, I next...
    1. grabbed the Safari plist from the new account
    2. logged out of the new account
    3. logged into the old account (where Flash does not work)
    4. moved the old account's com.apple.safari plist file out of the Preferences folder
    5. moved the clean Safari plist file (from the new account) into the Preferences folder
    6. reset and restarted Safari
    7. Flash worked...for about two minutes. I tested on YouTube, Vimeo and Google Analytics. Back to Flash not working in Safari.
I then tried repeating the earlier steps.
    1. reset Safari
    2. uninstall flash player
    3. install flash player
    4. repaired permissions
    5. restarted
    Still doesn't work.
Just one other thing to note: whenever I pull up a web page with Flash, I get a "file not found" error in Safari's activity monitor (link is below)...could this be an error with Adobe's website rather than a Safari-permission thing?

  • Can someone help me find a workaround to get flash to work in XP Pro 64 bit, like there is a workaround for vista 64 bit?

Can someone help me find a workaround to get flash to work in XP Pro 64 bit, like there is a workaround for vista 64 bit?
I am trying to get rid of all my 32 bit apps because the more of them you run in 64 bit the less resources are available.
Firefox has a 64 bit browser they call the Shiretoko build. I love it, it's twice as fast as a heavily tweaked 32 bit firefox. Java has a 64 bit plugin that works with it.
    The last holdout is Adobe.
Microsoft is making Vista and Win 7 64 bit as easy and smooth as the 32 bit versions as a means to get people to start using them.
Linux has a way to make flash work with 64 bit.
Remember when we all had a 16 bit operating system and how much better things got with 32 bit?
Adobe, it's time!.. don't you see that?
Can someone help me solve my problem? Please?

I just want a good sound card mounted into my computer...
    Thanx in advance.
no the audigy 2 zs is pci based. they have another called audigy 2 zs notebook and that's the one for laptop. if you can't find it from your vendor, you can always try getting it from someone else.

  • Flash player work with Safari, but not with Internet Explorer

My flash player had a problem so I uninstalled it.  I had a problem downloading the player with Internet Explorer, so I successfully download it with Safari.  The player works fine with Safari, but I cannot get it to work with Internet Explorer 8.
I used to have the Flash Player 10 Active X (10.1.85.3), which I had uninstalled.
I now have the Flash Player 10 Plugin (10.1.85/3)
The problem I had downloading the player with IE was that the "allow Active X" information bar never appeared and I was unable to see any download at all.
How do I get flash to work with my Internet Explorer 8 (8.0.7600.16385)?

This adobe web site worked easily for me, when I needed to install adobe flash JUST for IE8.
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
All you need to do is choose your OS in the top window, then in the bottom window choose "Adobe Flash Player 10.1 for Windows Internet Explorer", and voila, that is what adobe installs!! Give it a go. I had problems too, before I foud this. Diligent

  • Always need to reboot Mac to get flash to work.

Every time I want to use Adobe FLash player, it crashes upon start and I have to reboot my Mac.  I tried upgrading from leopard to Snow Leopard and the problem is still the same. I am using the latest version of Adobe Flash Player.
It doesn't matter if I am using Safari, Firefox, or Google Chrome, Flash crashes in all of them.
I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, tried the debugger file and STILL......it crashes.   I just recently realized that a complete shutdown and restart of my
Mac will get Flash Player working.
A side note:  I also experience this same thing whenever I want to use the scanner portion of my Canon Pixma printer/scanner.  There too, I have to shutdown and restart the computer.  Not sure the two are related or merely a coincidence.
Apparently there is perhaps a conflict with Flash Player and some other software my computer uses?

Thanks, but I have been to that site, tried all that, and I continue to have the problem.
I don't think it's necessarily teh Flash Player install, but I must have something else running on my
Mac that conflicts with it.  Immediately after a fresh boot, it's okay, but something creates a conflict
eventually.  It could be my printer driver?  It could be Itunes?  Not sure.

Yes, sorry about the editing, i just spent 10 minutes looking for the edit buttons and then the submit buttons, my new style made them invisible:P . I had a thought though. Before i installed gnome i had installed firefox, could i have installed a second copy while installing gnome or done something else to cause me difficulty? I like firefox but i guess i'll try getting flash to work in some other browsers and see how that goes.  Also, firefox isnt detecting any plugins in its add-ons section, perhaps thats a clue?

Flash is totally unrelated to Java, so what you're saying is that certain plugins are not working under Safari of which one just happens to be Java. You're the second one I see make mention of that, but the fact remains that you'd need to ask Apple what is going on with their browser.

  • Set up ipod touch to cox email, ive tried everything and cant get it to work. thanks!

set up ipod touch to cox email, ive tried everything and cant get it to work. thanks!

Here's an answer from the net:
Go to Settings/Mail,contacts,calendars/Add account choose other, choose Add Mail Account. Fill in name, email address, password and description on the screen that comes up. Save those.
One the next screen tat comes up click om POP in the first line then fil in the host name as
spop.west.cox.net or spop.east.cox.net or the one to go with your region.
Note that is not a misprint, that is spop (secure pop)
Fill in your username one more time (the password should have carried over from previously)
Fill in your outgoing mail server like smtp.west.cox.net (change for your region) and click Save.
When all the settings are verified a checkmark will appear next to them all and you are good to go.
If it says something like "can't connect via SSL would you like to ..." then you probably missed the step about selecting POP on the second screen and are trying IMAP so go back and try over with POP. Or perhaps mistyped soemthing.
Once everything is working you can go back into the settings and see that it has automatically connected on port 995 and that SSL is on
Note that you probably won't be able to send email from a wifi in a cafe or similar as cox won't let you connect to their smtp from outside their network.
I haven't tried receiving mail from a non cox connected wifi yet but I suspect it will work just fine. Anyway these settings work for me using my ipod to my home wifi router connected to cox.
I could not find a definitive guide when I searched so I hope this helps other folks trying to configure this.
I got the spop from "Mail for Mac OS X 10.5 configure SSL / POP" here:

Please sort out the V 11.1.4 problems as I cant get iTunes to work now. You need to have a new version asap

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.
