after upgrading to mountain lion i keep getting an error message saying my startup disc is full. it shouldnt be full because there is barely anything on there and i was running windows with bootcamp prior to this with no issues. my computer now freezes and programs close randomly. The usual command for opening windows with bootcamp doesnt work. once in restarted my computer after it froze and it rebooted in windows automatically. i really just want to know if there is a way to take the upgrade off my laptop because it is very annoying.

    Hi Memalyn
Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.

  • I can only see the welcome to mail screen (iphone 5).  I have set up mail successfully because it shows mail icon with messages.  But I cant get into the mail box!

I can only see the welcome to mail screen (iphone 5).  I have successfully set up the mail because it shows mail icon with messages (104 messages).  But I cant get into the actual mail box to read them.  Pls help!

The received emails should show in two locations:
    1. In the All Inboxes tab of Mail.
    2. The Inbox for each mail account,
If your emails are not showing in these locations try quitting the mail app and then reset your iPhone.
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal.
To reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • !cant get into or set up windows!

I know that there have been numerous threads started about this sort of thing and I have read them and tried some of the suggestions with no luck.
    First, my system specs are
    Athlon XP Barton 2500+
    K7N2 Delta-L m-board
    ATI AIW Radeon 8500DV
2 512MB Sticks of 266 Ram (not sure of brand)
    Wester Digital 100 GB HD
    SB Live 5.1 Sound Card
    DVD-Rom Drive
    48x??x48 CDRW Drive
    Windows XP Pro
Anyway...Last night I went ahead and upgraded my BIOS from 5.4 to 5.6 through Live Update.  After doing this, when trying to start up windows it will get the the boot screen and the blue squares will move across the rectangle thing one time and then freeze in place.  I have tried lowering my CPU FSB speed to 100MHz and then setting the ram down to 1-1 (100MHz) but this does not seem to help at all.  I have tried disabling many things (such as sound, lan, modem, etc..)  this has also done nothing.  Since then I have reverted back to BIOS 5.4 but am still having the same problems!!  I can get into safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, but cannot get into Windows normally or even the Safe mode with networking support.
Does anyone have any ideas?  This is kind of URGENT!  I will be needing this computer tonight and tomorrow morning.  I have been trying to solve this problem by changing random things in the BIOS also since last night but this has also not helped.
Sorry if you have trouble following through or making sense of some of this because I am typing it very quickly.  If you need anything cleared up...let me know.
    Any input is APPRECIATED!
    Thanks!

I have tried to change my User id which is an email address I no longer want to use. Now I am constantly getting requests from icloud and Apple ID for my password and cant get into my icloud account.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

I am having a problem when I try to select a photo or itunes song in Imovie or other programs. I get a window with grey lettering that says: "Open Itunes to populate this list" or "Open iphoto to see photos from your iPhoto library in this list.  I have tried relaunching programs and nothing appears. Seemed to start happening a while back after one of my system upgrades.

After a a lengthy conversation with Apple Tech. ($20), my problem seems to be solves. The Iphoto problem solved by trashing the plist file. The Itunes was more involved. We had to create a new Itunes folder and import the files into the new folder; and then import the playlists.

    Hi, Jennifer.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that VoiceOver has been activated and you are unable to access your device.  I have done this myself and here are the steps to disable this feature.
    VoiceOver
Press the home button three times quickly (formerly "Triple-click home").
    Accessibility Shortcut
    Managing Accessibility features using iTunes
Connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to any computer with iTunes installed.
    In iTunes, select your device.
From the Summary pane, click > Configure Universal Access in the Options section at the bottom.
Select the feature you would like to use and click OK.
    Use Accessibility features in iOS

  • For the 2013 versions of macbook pro should I purchase 32 bit windows or 64 bit version to be able to install it on macbook and use windows with bootcamp?

for the 2013 versions of macbook pro should I purchase 32 bit windows or 64 bit version to be able to install it on macbook and use windows with bootcamp?

Then you might check at any of the other university book stores or software stores or any computer store in town for the 64-bit version.
If you want to use the 32-bit version from the school (you probably get it for free or very cheap) then you could purchase Parallels and run it as a virtual machine concurrently with OS X. There are some caveats:
    1. You have to purchase Parallels (there may be an academic discount.) List is $79.95.
    2. Your computer needs minimally 4 GBs of RAM, but realistically 8 GBs would be better.
    3. Parallels creates a pseudo-drive on your hard drive. It could easily require 50 GBs of disk space.
Accommodating these might be more costly than buying 64-bit Windows 7. And, if you look online you may find them with an academic discount (or may be able to order it through the school.)

  • Cant get into my messages - please help

    Hello
I cant get into my messages. I press on messaging and the screen looks like it will go through but then it just returns to my main screen again. My handset is also not receiving texts my friends send me! yet i can bluetooth pics to my handset off other phones - but then it wont let me into the inbox to open them. I have put my sim in another handset and it works fine.
What are my options? if I reset will I lose all the saved picture messages in the sub-folder i have set up in the inbox? Is there anyway I can get to these and save them! please help

My girlfriend was having a similar problem with her N95 phone. I'd spotted a couple of posts like this one, but no solution. Here's how I fixed it...
Used nokia pc suite to back everything up off the phone.
We tried resetting the phone to factory settings using both the option within the phone, and the reset code, but still couldn't access messages.
We then entered *#7370# to reformat the phone, and messages were than accessible.
As we thought might happen, when we restored the full backup in nokia pc suite, the messages couldn't be accessed.
We reformatted the phone a second time, and restored the backup using nokia pc suite again but this time we didn't restore the settings. Messaging was accessible again, the old messages, contacts etc were all there. All that needed setting up again were things like selected ring tones.
    Hope that helps.

  • Display area is too small on windows with bootcamp

My 1920x1080 display is shrunk (appears small with a black border around it) on windows with bootcamp, but looks fine on the mac side.
I'm going from the macpro display port converted to hdmi and plugged into the hdmi plug on a dell P2413T monitor which has a resolution of 1920x1080.
I'm using bootcamp with windows 7 home premium. Radeon 5870 card
All my ati drivers are updated. I took the time to update them all.  The dell drivers are updated also.
The monitor looks great on the mac side. On the pc side it is shrunk so there is a black border of 3/4 inch or so around the edges. It also looks odd.
How do I resolve this. Is it a problem with the hdmi connector, the graphics card, bootcamp, windows?

There are overscan/underscan settings in OSX for 1080p displays.
