Cant get ipod to allow me to autofill songs from my computer to my ipod

like i said before i am having trouble getting my ipod and computer to work with each other the ipod is plugged in to the front usb port of my computer which is only about 6 months old. The ipod just sits there with a flashing orange light and will not come up with the set up screen alowing me to auto fill songs on to the ipod is this because it still needs to be charged or am i doimg something else wrong. the computer knows that there is an ipod plugged in but thats it nothing else zip nada zilch please please help me. thanks to you all

hi... actually im a new user...
it like this... i install the latest version of iTunes which is 7.3. for the first time i install n connect the ipod to my computer.. the iTunes will automatice update the song into my ipod... i try to delete it turn out nothing happen....
so i restore my ipod den i try to upload song... it said something cant sync don't what require cd??..why cant the song from my computer sync into my ipod shuffle??...i just dont get it....i already try all the advice from the forum still nothing had change.... i was so scare my ipod will spoil cause i just bought it yesterday..

Your only option at this point is to connect the device to a computer running iTunes so you can restore it.

I have already tried following those steps. I went back and tried to follow them again but they did not work. Some of my songs have synced, some have not. Create a parent folder on your computer to store the named folders of photos that you want transferred to your iPhone. This a used IPOD that I just bought.
I restored it to its factory settings by using Itunes software.
Now I am trying to download some MP3 songs from my computer so that I can listen to them using the IPOD. I don't even know this is possible. I used Windows Explorer and droped the songs to IPOD 'drive'. IPOD says 'no music' and I can't play any of the songs using IPOD, but the songs are showing up in the Windows Expolorer. I can play them using Windows media player also. What am I doing wrong?
