Cant get my ipad to reset

I cannot get my ipad to reset. I've tried holding down the home button and the other little black dot on top of screen at the same time and holding down. That does not work.

IF YOU WANT TO TURN IT OFF JUST HOLD DOWN THE BUTTON ABOVE THE BACK CAMERA
BUT IF YOU WANT TO RESET GO TO. SETTINGS >>>>>> GENRAL (THEN SCROLL DOWN TO THE BOTTOM) >>>>>>>RESET<<<<<<<

Have you tried resetting your iPad?
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds).

Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

For a "hard" restart of your iPad just press the home and power button at the same time and hold it for at least 10-15 sec. until it restarts.

Hold both Power and Home buttons for 10 seconds until your device restarts, so you will be able to use it again.
The Power button is the one that you use to put your iPad in sleep mode (at the top of the iPad), and the Home button is at the bottom of the screen

Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.
