Cant get my Satellite C50-A-157 to start up

Hi folks I've got a Toshiba satellite C50-A-157, only three weeks old. It wouldn't connect to the internet last night, kept saying it couldn't display the page. Then the cursor froze and the touch pad wouldn't respond. I attached the mouse and eventually it responded to that. Still wouldn't let me online so decided I'd do a system restore. It went on for ages and nothing seemed to be going on, I had to go out so had to power it off. Tried to get back into it today but all the screen is doing is flickering between black and grey.
Toshiba offices are shut so was wondering if anyone can help me out? My knowledge is quite basic so all help would be appreciated!

It sounds pretty problematic now. I don't know if Ive understand you right but Im afraid you have interrupter recovery image installation and now you in the middle of nowhere.
To be honest I don't understand why your display is flickering now.
What to do now? I presume you didnt create recovery media but if you have it try to install recovery image again. If you don't have it either you must order one on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx or contact nearest Toshiba service provider in your country and ask for help.

  • Satellite C50-A-157 - Unable to use touchpad without holding left button

I know very little about my Satellite C50-A-157 . Run on Windows 8. I am main /admin user and all of a sudden I am unable to move the mouse/cursor.. only way it seems to let me, is if I hold the left hand botton (bottom of mouse pad) down at same time, then it moves around.
    But then high-lights everything.
I have tried pressing FN+F5 at same time (nothing happens) even taken battery out of back (again does not solve issue) the MOuse/arrow is just frozen on the page.. this does not happen in my partners profile, (he is another user) the mouse seems to work fine..
I thought it was that the mouse pad, had worn out (as is shiny now) but this does not explain why it only happens under my profile/user, not his?
If anyone can offer any help, much appreciated... I only stumbled across the fact, it lets me use it (if I hold in left button at same time)
Also have tried the 'Sticky keys' shift x5, again this does not do anything or clear this problem.
And have gone into control panel usinw Windows+ X and gone into troubleshooting, again, not solved the problem.

.. this does not happen in my partners profile, (he is another user) the mouse seems to work fine..
Since the touchpad is still working using another user profile, I guess there must be only some software conflict.
Usually you can enable or disable the touchpad pressing F5 (or FN+F5) but you already tried this combination and this did not enable the touchpad…
So from my point of few you should simple uninstall the touchpad driver and after you have downloaded the newest touchpad driver package from Toshiba EU driver page, unzip the package and perform new touchpad driver installation…
After the installation has been finished, restart the notebook…
    Good luck

  • Touchpad Problems on my Satellite C50-A-157

Hi, I have been having some problems with the touchpad on my *Toshiba Satellite C50-A-157* laptop.
I use windows 8, and i have had my laptop for a couple of weeks, but all vof a sudden,
I can only use the touchpad and operate the cursor when i have either of the mouse buttons held down.
I have been having to use the "Tab" key and the "Arrow Keys" to navigate through menus and options.
The *F5* key does not work and i have already tried updating/reinstalling the device drivers. Troubleshooting does not seem to work either.
However, whenever i have not got the mouse button pressed down, and the sursor is not movning, when i move my finger up and down on the touchpad, it will navigate through the vertical series of options closest to the left edge of the screen.
For example, in the windows 8 start menu, the mouse will be stationary in the middle of the screen, but when i move my finger up and down on the mouse pad, it seems to scroll through the tiles on the left of the menu, highlighting each one on the way up or down.
I realise this is quite a long, boring post, so thanks for reading this far and any help/suggestions you can give will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

    Hi
In my opinion this isn't software realted issue.
Looks like a strange touchpad module problem but of course the notebook should be recovered to factory settings before talking about an hardware problem
Please post some feedback after the notebook has been set to factory settings.
In case the touchpad would not work even using factory settings, you should contact the service in order to check the hardware.

  • Satellite C50-A-157 Sandisk USB won't work in Recovery Media Centre

I can't get Sandisk Cruzer USB to work in Recovery Media Centre. Have tried formatting but no luck.
I read on another Toshiba forum that Sandisk USBs don't work and that you have to use a different brand.
    Anyone know if that's true?
    Thanks

To be honest I dont think that all Sandisk USB flash memory stick dont work in connection with Recovery Media Creator. But of course due to some compatibility issue between the device and software, it could be possible that an USB flash memory stick would not be recognized.
I never experienced such problems with my Recovery Media Creator software.
I could create a recovery medium using two different USB sticks from two different manufacturers. One of them was a flash memory stick from SanDisk.

  • I cant register my "No Problem Guarantee" - Satellite C50-a-179

I have a Satellite C50-a-179 and i have free No Problem Guarantee for my region (Czech Republic).
When I want to register my laptop on www.noproblemguarantee.com this page redirected me on www.nomatterwhatguarantee.com - which is not Guarantee for my region so I cant register my laptop there.
Can anyone please help me, where can I register my laptop for No Problem Guarantee?
    Thanks a lot.

Hi, I have the same problem. And the offer on www.noproblemguarantee.com is supposed to be valid for residents in Czech rep,Estonia,Hungary,Latvia,Lithuania,Poland and Slovakia - as it stands in the leaflet we got in the box with laptop. We got both leaflets - also for www.nomatterwhatguarantee.com for the countries stated above. So I guess the offers are on the same level...

  • Cannot find Win 8.1 drivers for Satellite C50-A-1DV

    Hi.
I re-installed windows 8.1 from a disk I have, but I'm having driver problems, namely finding certain driver support on the Toshiba website.
It seem that my laptop isn't listed, or I can't find it in the support section for drivers.
The drivers I'm looking for namely are the motherboard drivers.
I already tried a driver site but my laptop was taking a good few minutes to power off after shutdown so I doubt those were correct. I'll try intel chipset device software and see if that gives me the correct ones.
Rest of drivers I can get simple enough through device manager, but not the chipset drivers, and probably usb 3.0 too.
On a side note, I noticed I don't need to type in the key, which I wrote down using belarc, I assume it's saved to the BIOS and windows auto detects it correct?

    Hello
According notebook specification your notebook was delivered with preinstalled Windows 8.1 64bit so what you should do is to reinstall original recovery image that contains all necessary drivers.
When you say you have installed Win 8.1 from the disc, what does it mean exactly?
Have you installed your own OS version or original Win8.1 version from created recovery disc?
Anyway, al Win8.1 64bit drivers you can download from Toshiba download page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
There you can find all drivers for your Satellite C50-A-1DV with part number PSCG6E.
    Check it out.

  • Satellite C50-D - External Hard Drive is not recognized

Have just purchased Satellite C50 D but cannot get it to read or recognise my LaCie hard drive.
As this has all the data from my previous computer it is rather important. Can anyone provide help and guidance as to how to a) read the drive or b) transfer all the data onto the laptop memory
    Many thanks
    A:-)

    Hi
The notebook supports 1 USB 3.0 port and 2 USB 2.0 ports.
I recommend you to connect the external HDD to each port (USB2.0 and USB3.0) just to check if its not compatibility problem. But usually it should not be a big problem to connect an external USB 2.0 device to an USB 3.0 port.
However, it could be also possible that this external HDD needs more than usual 500mA power provided by one USB 2.0 port. In such case you should use an USB Y cable to connect the HDD to two USB ports.

  • Satellite C50-B-133 - HDMI not connecting to TV

    Help.
I have just purchased a Satellite C50-B-133 laptop.
The problem is I cannot get it to display via a HD cable on my Panasonic TV.
It does recognise that it is connected to a Panasonic TV.
I have done the Windows + P to select 'duplicate screen' etc but to no avail.
The Toshiba website interactive assistant mentioned it could be the cable...........is that a possibility?
Other items - playstation etc connect via this cable with no difficulty.
When i go into settings > change pc settings > display > detect > 'didn't detect another display' is the answer. However when i go into Toshiba Desktop Assist > tools and utilities > display utility > multiple displays > the panasonic tv is listed. #confused.............

I think you should power off both devices: TV and notebook.
Regarding the notebook: please ensure that the notebook has been shut off completely as mentioned here:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2B03EY0002R01.htm
Connect both devices with the HDMI cable and then power up the TV and the notebook.
Then you could try to use FN + F4 (or only F4) to switch between the external and internal display. Please ensure that internal resolution has to match the external resolution in order to use the both displays simultaneously.
In case this will not work, try to reinstall the display driver (graphic card driver.)

  • Satellite C50-A634 wont boot from USB or DVD

My new toshiba Satellite C50-A634 wont boot from usb, or dvd ,
i have downloaded win 8.1 and burn image to dvd but i still get an error message "no bootable device......please restart system" .
    Can some one plz help?

    Hi
Does Satellite C50-A634 supports internal CD/DVD drive or did you try to boot from external optical disk drive?
You have to know that _Satellite C50 & Satellite C50D models *without* a built-in ODD_ are not able to boot from an external ODD due to a technical limitation.
    Details here:
[Limitation of external boot media for Satellite, Satellite Pro C50 & C50D devices|http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB3B03JA0000R01.htm]
Only USB flash drives are supported as external boot devices!
It is necessary you can use a USB flash drive as recovery media on notebooks without a built-in ODD.

  • Satellite C50-A628 running slow

    Good day everyone.
Sorry if this post is in the wrong section, but, please help.
I know that maybe some people might think this as a waste of time or just something you could search in google, but, for about *7 months*, I've been trying to figure out why my new laptop is running slow.
As this laptop comes without any pre-installed operating system, there is no restore disk or factory reset disc. For the first few months of using my laptop, it's been running +windows 8.1 pro+.
Every time I use it, it opens everything okay, except when my browser is open. everything becomes unstable and doesn't respond. after a few seconds of not responding, I can use it again as long as I don't multi-task. I've installed the latest graphics drivers and some apps, but that's it. I thought that it was a problem with windows 8 about 5 days ago, so I downgraded to +windows 7 ultimate 64 bit+.
Now, i'm starting to think that maybe the problem is because of the drivers since I didn't install the drivers required for the laptop since it doesn't come with the drivers and reset disk.
So now, I'd like to ask for support on this matter. Please show the proper installation of windows 7 and the all the drivers required for my laptop which is the *TOSHIBA SATELLITE C50-A628 RUNNING WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE 64-bit*. (Or any idea on why this problem is occuring)
Thank you and have a nice day.
    -George B.

One note: the system performance, especially the internet browser issues has NOTHING to do with drivers preinstalled on your notebook. Mostly drivers are not the reason why the notebook runs slow (open software slowly, etc)
Fact is that your Satellite C50-A628 was equipped with 2GB RAM.
Additionaly an part of this 2GB RAM is shared with GPU: Intel HD Graphics
Therefore less than 2GB are used for system and applications.
To be honest; this is not enough to run system smoothly!
I recommend you to upgrade the RAM at least to 4GB/6GB or better 8GB RAM to get better performance.
    Regadign the drivers download:
The Win 7 driver can be downloaded here:
    http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU
    Choose: Satellite C50-A PSCJGF

  • Cant get working Media Centre Remote under Win7

G'day just a quick one for you I have just updated to windows 7 ultimate 64 bit on my Toshiba Satellite P200 and the only thing I cant get working is my media centre remote.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If your notebook model is Win7 supported install missing driver. What other suggestion you want to hear? ;)
Have you tried to use Vista driver?
I have noticed some drivers are missing for Win7. In this case I used Vista drivers and everything worked properly on my Satellite A300.

  • New Satellite C50-A264 Laptop way too slow.

I got this Satellite C50-A254 few weeks ago,i didnt touch it alot.
I only used this laptop 2-3 times but its just terribly slow.
Even if i launched Google Chrome,it constantly stopps responding and i have no idea why because it was too slow from the first place when i booted this laptop which doesnt make sence at all.
I cant run literary anything good. Even opening control panel takes about 5 seconds.
    The specs are:
    OS: Windows 8
    HDD: 500GB
    RAM: 2GB
    CPU: Pentunum
I've only installed uTorrent and Steam, but i dont know why that causes this laptop to be terriblely slow.
I didnt tried to uninstall anything since it was slow from the first time.
I'm sure this was not a re-used PC.

I have the exact same stituation with the Toshiba C50D
Bought it from the South African disributor
Out of the box it was so slow as to be unuseable even for basic email
within 2 days I took it back
They would not accept it back as it has been used (tried once and not again.)

I have since purchased a much more expensive Acer as a work machine.
