I don't quite understand the problem but here goes.
In my tests (with that particular test material) iDVD 4's Best Quality starts to really fill a DVD (i.e. to the max of 4.0 GB) only after 75 minutes of content.
With 15-75 minutes the Best Quality bitrate averaged to 5.8 Mb/s -- after that it gradually dropped to 3.1 Mb/s @ 120 minutes.
On the other hand, Best Performance was a steady 7.3 Mb/s. And what is most interesting, Best Quality's peak bitrates never exceeded that and some high action scenes were actually better with Best Performance. So it seemed that Best Quality is sometimes set to throttle the bitrate too much.
Yes, there is space up to 4.3 GB (=4.7 GB with another atrihmetic -- that 1000 vs 1024 thing, you know) on a DVD but I guess Apple chose to play it safe and leave some room, just in case.

Unfortunately no, It says "Adobe not responding" as well when I try to open a pdf. It has done this a few times where I had to uninstall and reinstall. Also, Illustrator tells me to uninstall/reinstall as well.

Huge amount of backup data on Mac HD even though I use Time Machine on an external HD

When looking at the storage tab on "about this mac", there is a huge (290 Gb) chunk of backup data, even though I use Time Machine to back up on an external hard drive. Does anyone know how to just keep backups restrained to the external hard drive? I have no idea where this 270 Gb chunk of data is even stored on my Mac HD. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My iPhone is from the US and I've had it for nearly two years. I'm with optus. I know that this is not allowed to be discussed but my phone was bought jailbroken. However is there anyway I could unjailbreak my phone? I'm not sure if it is factory unlocked because the iPhone wasn't bought from Apple even though it is legit. So is there really anything I could do to fix my phone? It's running on IOS 4.0.1.

Everytime I go abroad I have problems with my contacts, some people send me messages and I dont receive them. I sent them messages and they are not received either. Their phones and mine show them as sent, but they are never received. Sometimes the text messages sent to arrive in my email about three weeks later. Any ideas how I can resolve this and get back to messaging my friends as normal?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

Disable your firewall AND antivirus. If you have ever used this computer to hack or jailbreak ANY iDevice (not just the one with the problem) you will have to restore your hosts file to the way it was before you did so.

You need to upgrade the OS past 10.6.8 to get a newer Safari version. Open the Mac App Store and try downloading Mavericks. If you get told it's incompatible, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Xeon or Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and 2GB of RAM, and if it does, click here and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Back up your data before upgrading. Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

ITunes has charged credit card £100 even though voucher used to pay - help!

I downloaded a load of albums from iTunes this morning and the cost was being deducted from a £100 voucher that was applied to my account as I downloaded. Halfway through though our computer crashed and when I logged back on it said that the £100 voucher was still there. I checked our bank account and it's charged the £100 to our bank account, pushing us over our overdraft.
I've emailed iTunes to try to get this sorted but it says that we'll have to wait 48 hours for a reply. Does anyone know if there's any way of getting this resolved sooner?

Look, I understand I still need a card attached to the account. The problem is, it won't accept my card because I only have 87 cents in my bank account right now.
If I had known there would be so much trouble with the iTunes card, I would have just put the cash in my bank account in the morning instead of buying an iTunes card (I didn't expect the banks to be open on Thanksgiving of course).
Apple will only accept cards that have a balance. The balance is so small in my account that it won't accept it as a valid card.

I have changed my Apple ID so that it would reflect my new email address. My Apple devices and icloud info do not display my new ID, even though I use the new one to log into iTunes, etc. How can I get this problem resolved so that I might feel confident

After changing my Apple ID I do not seem to be able to recognize it as my proper ID. It does work properly for an iTunes login and password, but, it is not displayed that way on my device when I look at my iCloud settings and other "system level" settings.
How do I correct this to be confident that I can use a feature, such as "Find My iPhone" and know that the functions and contact info is correct?

To change the iCloud ID on your device you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone when prompted, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.

Upgraded to iPhone 6, cannot get into iCloud. "The password you entered is incorrect" even though I used the same Apple ID and password that I used to log into this session. My wife has the same issue with her iPhone 6 as well.

Can get into iTunes and iCloud via MacBook Pro. Every attempt to log in via iPhone we get a message saying the password is incorrect. I noticed someone else had a similar problem about 1 hour ago. Apple support's answer did not fix the problem for them.
