Cant hear a live feed of my mic - G530 Vista

I am trying to hear myself live through my microphone and out of my speakers.
I have:
1) unmuted the microphone
2) tried turning the mic and the mic boost volumes up full
3) uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers (conexant HD smart audio 221)
4) everything that Lenovo could suggest
Still no use.
I want to be able to take my laptop to my friends for a party and sing karoake.
I have searched endlessly on the internet but to no avail.
The nearest I got was a suggestion of adding an 'enableinputmonitor' into the regedit.
There is no option for this.
It seems the enable input monitor option should appear on sound > playback tab > selecting speaker > selecting properties > then in the 'levels' tab, but it just isnt there,  Its driving me up the wall and someone please please help.
I phoned the retailer where I bought the laptop and they had no answer for me either.
Anyone, please please help
Thanks
Karen

Yes I used to use my pc and my old tiny laptop in this way.
i use a microphone for input and use the headphone socket to run an output to my stereo
Its for singing through.
Seems to be either a problem with Vista, or the sound card, or the non appearance of enable input monitor in the sound option.

  • Keyboard records fine, but cant hear it live.

Hey everyone. Can't seem to figure out how to hear my track while I record it, or before hand for that matter.
It records fine, but I get no audio.
    Cheers.

On what kind of track are you recording?

  • Cant hear monitor when using usb mic

hey all, question. when my usb mic is plugged in and armed for recording, i cant hear the previous track to keep my timing. the built in mic isnt that great so i like to use my external. its like when its plugged in it overrides all monitor functions. i just wanna be able to record a track while the previous one plays back. thanks guys for the help with an obvious newby.

Make sure you have the correct output selected in GB Prefs>Audio/MIDI. I assume you're using your computer speakers? If so select Built-In Output. Also make sure the recorded Track isn't muted and that the volume is up.

  • Cant hear song playback while recording with external USB Interface Mic in Garageband

    Hi there
There must be something wrong with my settings in Gargaeband/Mac Sound Settings.
I have Garageband 9 (V5.1) running a song I have already recorded using a USB keyboard.
I want to record using my external mic and my USB Audio Interface, so
I select New Track> Real Instrument
I plug in my Yamaha Audiogram 3 USB AUdio Interface and I get a pop up stating
"Garageband is scanning your system for audio devices, and has detected a device named "USB Audio Codec"
If you want to use this device do not disconnect it during the scanning process.
Do you want to use this devise No/Yes."
I select Yes and INPUT SOURCE changes from
    Mono 1 (Built-in Microphone)
    to
    Mono 1 (USB Audio CODEC)
I can see the signal lights lighting up on the audiogram 3 when I talk into the mic, so theres no problem there.
Also when I hit record I can record audio using the mic, and can see the levels (and the audio wave I am creating being drawn on the screen) but I cannot hear the track itself when I am recording using the mic. Nor can I hear the track or the new mic recorded audio AFTER I have hit stop.
The only way to hear the song again with the newly recorded mic track is to unplug the Audiogram 3 (Then I get another Pop-up stating
"The audio device "USB Audio CODEC" has been disconnected!
Do you want to switch to Built-in Audio or quit Garageband?"
    I select USE BUILT-IN AUDIO)
Then the input source changes back to
    Mono 1 (Built-in Microphone)
And I can hear the track again.
So my problem as you can see if that I cant hear the track while recording using the microphone with the Audiogram 3.
But I can record video with audio using the audiogram 3 USB Audio Inteface and mic using photobooth when I select change Sound>Input to USB Audio Codec in system preferences
It therefore assume it must be a problem with the internal audio settings of the mac/garageband.
    Can anyone advise?
    thanks!

In order to hear yourself while you are recording, you need to set Monitor to "ON" under the Track Info panel.
Also, what are your sound output settings?  It sounds like you haven't selected the right output source.
If your speakers or headphones are plugged into your audio interface, then you need to go into Preferences -> Audio/MIDI and select your audio interface under Output as well as Input.  If your speakers or headphones are built-in or plugged directly into your computer, then you need to select Built-In under Output.
I have a sneaky feeling that you are in the latter scenario, and that when you plug in your audio interface Garageband is automatically switching both Input and Output over to your interface, which means no sound output as long as the interface is plugged in.

I bought a mic for my ipod touch 2nd gen and the mic works yet when its plugged in the speakers dont work, meaning i cant hear, so skype and other similar apps are un-useable, is there a way in which the mic and speakers will both work together?

Looking at the details for this mic, it appears that the app has to have the option to use the internal specak when a mic is plugged into the headphone jack. Specifically:
NOTE: When MityMic is plugged into your iPod/iPhone you won’t be able to use the onboard speaker for sound output. You must remove the MityMic then play back your recordings. (The Skype app has an option to enable the onboard speaker even when the mic is plugged in, so you could use MityMic for placing Skype calls. However most other apps do not have this function.)

  • Sending an MMS and recipient cant hear sound

Hi i have an iPhone 4s and i send a lot of MMS vids to my mum who owns a samsung galaxy . All was going well until i recently got a new 4S after issues with my old one and since then my mum can receive my vids but cant hear anything! We did some tests , if i send vid to my dads phone which is a Iphone 4 that was fine, my husband who also owns a 4S sent a vid to my mum who owns the galaxy and it went through fine so we come to the conclusion it was my brand new week old phone thats causing it to somehow lose sound when it was sent from my phone! Has anyone had this issue? Does anyone know how i can fix it? My parents live across the country and i send alot of vids of there only grandchild to them and as my dad works away alot i generally only send vids to mum so its important i fix this problem asap.Thank u :-)

    First try convering the basic:
Is FaceTime the only thing you can't hear? Is your friend blocking the mic with her finger?
Does it happen to all FaceTime calls (both ends)? Can you listen to other sounds (like the volume up and down sound) while FaceTiming? Is your volume all up? Is you output device correctly chosen?
There are a lot of simple variables to consider before saying it's a problem related to your Mac. Test it a little further and let us know.

  • How to have a live feed from application server log file (realtime viewr )

how to have a live feed from application server log file (realtime viewr for apps log files)
hi , thank you for reading my post.
is there any way to have a live feed of Application server log ?
for example is there any application that can watch the log file and show the changes as new log items come in ?
can some one with more experience help ?

Your question would be more suited to the Developer Forums
    http://devforums.apple.com
    but anyway...
My goal is to develop a web application that is able to run on iPhone too, to capture the audio and video content from its camera and mic.
Web Apps running in Safari don't have access to the camera or mic hardware.
Or I should built a native application distributed through Apple store?
That is your only option, although such a system already exists:

  • Ipod touch 5 people cant hear me when

So I've had my ipod touch 5th generation since it came out its worked fine. I made calls and stuff on apps before in the past and skyped and it worked fine. Then one day it just stoped I tried to make a call and the other person can't hear me. I don't know what happened. I didnt drop it its not dirty. I can hear the other person find but they cant hear me. Help!!!!

    - Make sure the mic hole is clear and unobstructed. The mic hole is the hole on the back by the camera lens.
    - Open the Voice Memos app and see if you se the VU meter needle move with sound
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Cant Hear My Guitar

Hello I recorded a rythm guitar track and I can hear it but when I press the PLAY button in multitrack it mutes my windows play control line in input lol. So I cant hear myself playing to practice the solo for the solo guitar track before recording and its getting very very annoying. Someone knows how to fix that in AA3 options? Thanks in advance.

It's not really possible to answer this one with the information  you've provided (hence the lack of replies so far) but I can try to give you some general guidelines.
For the most part, the routing of signals in and out of Audition isn't handled by AA itself but, rather, by Windows and/or the software that was installed in Windows by your sound card.
The basic thing you need to do is set this software (often the "Windows Mixer") so that, on the playback side, you're listening to something called "Wave Out" or "Stereo Mix" or similar.  On the recording side, you will want this selected to "Line In" or "Mic In" or similar.
However, this is where it gets complicated because there are a lot of variations in exactly how to do this, based both on your version of Windows and the make/model of sound card installed in your PC.  Complicating this further are things like the rather convoluted audio setup in the most recent versions of Windows (Vista and Windows 7) and also the fact that some basic on-board sound cards are so basic that they don't support the kind of things you wish to do.  You MAY find you need to invest in a relatively inexpensive USB2 external card.
There are also a couple of things within Audition to check.  Under the Edit menu, click on "Audio Hardware setup" and make sure that the sound card you wish to use is selected as the default output.  On the same menu there's also a drop down menu to select the software driver you wish to use--this will likely be correct but if you find more than one option you'll lose nothing by trying another one (so long as you put it back as it was if that doesn't help).
Sorry to be so vague but, as you can hopefully see, giving a specific answer will depend on having details of the Windows version and sound card you are using plus details of how you're trying to route your audio at present.

  • How come i can hear my friend on ichat but she cant hear me?

how come i can hear my friend on ichat but she cant hear me?

    Hi,
    Several possibles.
    1) The Mic (or Audio) item in the Video Menu is Off (unticked)
    2) The Selection in  App (iChat or Messages) menu > Preferences > Video section > Microphone Drop down  is not pointing to a Mic that is active.
    3) The Mic selection in System Preferences > Sound > Input tab is not the same device in the app and/or the volume is not set high enough.
In System Preferences > Sound > Input tab the blue response bar must get to at least halfway (preferably 3/4s) but not bang in to the right hand end.
The Mic should be the one select in the app itself.
IF you are using a headset then change both the System Preferences > Sound > Input to anything else but the headset mic.
Then do the same if the app.
Then go back to the System Preferences and "Set" that "First" and then do the App "Second"
Repeat the same process for the output options in both places.

  • Cant hear audio while capturing

    Hi
When I capture video & audio, i cant hear the audio from my source. However, the audio is captured and embedded in the clip when i look at it after the capture.
Do i have to turn on some monitoring function of some sort maybe?
Im capturing with an Black Magic card via SDI Embedded Audio.
    Maybe someone have a clue.

We're here all week, try the liver.
I've always been a believer in monitoring in the signal chain. Granted I don't work much with HDV-- but monitoring what is going into and out of the computer, rather than relying on the computer's built in audio seems to be the way to go. Then you know what's coming off the tape, and what's going back down to the tape.
