CANT HOOK UP TO PROJECTOR

I am having trouble hooking up to my projector. I have never had a problem before. I have the vga adapter but for some reason I am still unable to connect. Ive tried rebooting, updating, waiting till the projector was on to connect and nothing has worked. I am not sure what to do.

If you go to Apple > System Preferences > Displays click the detect displays button.
The projector should be detected as if it were a second monitor/display.
If that does not work try an SMC reset

I have Keynote 6.2 and when my MacPro is hooked to a projector with a slide presentation I cannot see my presentation notes on the computer screen and not on the projected screen. Any ideas?

Somethings obviously gone wrong with your installation of Keynote.
Try this repair for Keynote 6.2,  ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:
1  delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote, using Appcleaner from Mac Update, its a freeware application
2  empty the trash:  Finder > Empty Trash
3  Shut down your Mac, wait 30 seconds, then hold down the Shift key while pressing the power button
When you see the grey Apple symbol and progress indicator (a spinning gear), release the Shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, then hold down the Shift key again as you click Log in.
4   Let the Mac fully boot up, it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive
5  when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive then First Aid tab and click  repair disc permissions
6  when complete, restart the Mac normally, Apple menu > Restart
7  install Keynote from the Mac App Store
let us know if this helped

  • Can i hook up a projector to my mac os x (version 10.6.8)? I am trying to project a 08 imovie

can i hook up a projector to my mac os x (version 10.6.8)? I am trying to project a 08 imovie to a large audience.
If I can, what projector would I need? thank you!

Any projector should work that has either a DVI or VGA input which means virtually almost all projectors. You will need an adapter cable, either a Mini DVI to DVI or Mini DVI to VGA.

  • Hook up a projector

How do I hook up a projector using HDMI? I tried to hook up my Optoma projector, but it doesn't recognize the Macbook

Treat the projector as a normal display.
In the system preferences, make sure that you have clicked 'detect displays'.
This should ensure the Optoma Projector recognizes it.
Try setting the projector as the primary display, and alternate.
The resolution may need to be edited on the Macbook to ensure that the projector is capable of displaying it.
I do the same with an external monitor and if the resolution is to high, the monitor cannot recognize the Macbook.
    All the best,
    Andy

  • HT201274 I updatede my iPad to iOS7 and now cant hook up to wifi.........tried a lot of stuff, help

I updated my iPad to iOS7 and now cant hook up to wifi......help    I have tried a lot of different way and no luck.

    Hello RMpad,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like after updating to iOS 7 you are unable to join any wifi network.
I want to recommend these parts of the article named:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
Be sure you're in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your Wi-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
    Tap and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
If that does not resolve the issue, I would next recommend either of these 2 parts down toward the bottom depending on the symptoms you are seeing.
Unable to locate a Wi-Fi network
Unable to connect to a Wi-Fi network
    Cheers,

  • Front Row Movies When Hooked Up to Projector

    Hello-
I hooked up my MBP to a projector to rehearse a presentation. Out of curiosity, I tried front row and went through the following...
    -Photos: Worked Great
    -Music: Worked Great
    -Podcasts: Great
-Movies/Vid Podcasts: Sound, but NO video. I removed the cable and the video displayed on the screen, hooked up the cable again and it played through the projector.
Is this a known error? Thanks.
    John

Happens all the time. Hope you find a solution. Now mark the topic and good computing.

  • Mini DVI to S-video/Composite hooked to a projector

    Hi all,
I have recently opted to sell my PB 17 as I was tired of having a brick on my back all the time.
I hoped apple would do a new 12' but alas it didn't happen.
In any way, I mostly use my book for clients presentations.
I am having an awful problem.
I bought a minidvi to svideo, and connected it to different projectors and chose the right res for the task!
everything on the screen (projector) is blurred as ****.
I cannot manage to get a crisp picture from the projector and this is very annoying.
I am buffed up with the max ram on a blackbook.
this is very annoying as this is the main task i require my book to do.
Is there any way to get this thing working using svideo
    thanX in advance
    JM

Plug it in using miniDVI (or whatever it is on the Macbook) to VGA adapter
    much better quality then
I do it at home with my PB 17" and projector
(getting MacBook too and will buy miniDV to VGA adapter for that too)

  • Cant hook up a 3rd gen ipod touch to a tv

I want to hook up my 3rd Gen 64gb iPod Touch to my TV. The Apple AV cables only say they are compatible with 1st & 2nd gen iPod Touches. My generic cable I used to use with my iPod Classic wont work. Any ideas?

    Hi ChristianHelpplz,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It seems like your iPod touch is not recognized by iTunes on your Mac, but your iPhone 6 is working normally.
I recommend starting with these steps to troubleshoot your iPod touch and connection with your Mac:
    Check your USB connections
Unplug other USB devices from your Mac and try again.
    Try a different USB port.
    Try a different USB cable.
    Restart your device
Restart your iOS device or reset your iPod.
    Restart your Mac
Turn your Mac off and back on.
    Update your software
Check for software updates on your Mac.
    Check for an iTunes update.
    Check your security software
If you have security software installed, learn how to resolve issues between iTunes and your security software.
    From:
If you don't see your connected device in iTunes for Mac - Apple Support
If you've tried these steps and your iPod touch is still not recognized, try placing it into Recovery Mode next:

  • Hooking up a projector on macbook white running windows XP SP3 via bootcamp

    Dear friends:
I have a question related on how to set a macbook (white) computer to recognize a projector while runnning windows XP SP3 (using bootcamp).
I'm using a mini DVI to VGA adapter.
The first I did was to plug the cable of the projector on the adapter, then I selected second monitor option in display properties (tab settings) and the best I got from there was to extend windows desktop onto the projector, but the thing is that I want to mirror both screens in order to show a full screen presentation on power point.
I played with the screen resolutions of both monitors and I got no success, so I decided to restart the macbook. Initially on both screens from the projector and that of the macbook it appeared the logo of windows xp when booting, but then when the session was started the screen of the projector got black.
I attempted by using F7 key but still got no success.
Could you give me a suggestion on how to solve this problem??, I hope my english was clear so you can understand my problem.
    Best regards.
    Oscar

Oh k thanks alot for your input. I think my only option is running XP through VM Fusion on my Time Capsule like Eric mentioned. I would have loved to exclude Mac OS X from running at all in the background while I'm on Windows since the programs I'm planning to run on Windows are Memory intensive. That's the whole reason I'm trying not to have windows installed on my macbook HD and have it run independently like it would on bootcamp. Thanks for all your help tho.
If anyone has a different suggestion pls feel free to comment. Thanks

  • Cant hook up macbook to tv

I purchased a mini diplay port to hdmi cable and I can still not see the computer screen on my TV.  Need help.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Have you tried , System Preferences, Hardware, Displays, Detect Displays button (at the bottom of the preferences screen)?
For convenience, check the box 'Show displays in menu bar' in the Displays preferences screen so it is just one click to get to the screen.
(I'm on Snow Leopard, OS X 10.6.8. Other versions probably look different.)
Unfortunately, I don't have an external display attached at the moment, so I can't show you the additional screens.

  • When i hook up my projector with hdmi i can't get sound to out of projector only pc

It worked before I did a recover.

    Open Control Panel > Sound
Right Click on  " HDMI Output" and you will find an option which says - "Set as Default Device" . Kindly ensure this is selected and once you do this there would be a green checkmark on option - "HDMI Output"
Here is how it may look. On your laptop it might look different but the below picture is just for your reference. By chance, if you do not see "HDMI Output" option, Right click on white area in same window and you would get 2 options - Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices, Please ensure both options are selected.

  • I want to use an IPad (w/retina display-newest) in my church hooked up to a projector

I want to use an IPad (w/retina display-newest) in my church hooked up to a projector and shown on a screen.  I'd like to do it wirelessly as the projector will be installed in the ceiling.  I am not sure exactly what I would need to get this set up. I do not have wifi at church or cellular but would be getting the iPad (not yet purchased) with wifi only.  If I use Apple TV to hook up the projector to, would it need wifi to work if I will only be using the ipad for documents, worksheets (much like what a school/professor would use) or other things that an app could do (draw a line, etc.)

Epson projectors have such a feature, so if you're going to buy a new projector, you might start with their units. The app is described here:
    http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/jsp/Landing/ProjectorApp.do
and there's a projector compability list linked from the very bottom of the page. There may be other projector manufacturers with similar apps, but I don't know for sure. All will probably also require a local WiFi network set up, though said network should not need Internet access if that's an issue for you.
    Regards.
