Cant import songs-itunes locks up!

I just bought a new computer-Hp p2610, I downloaded Itunes and moved all of my files from my other pc(XP-26 gigs of music) I only transferred over the music-nothing else.
When I attempt to import a cd with itunes, itunes will begin importing for a few seconds and then will just freeze in the middle. I have not been able to import one track. Itunes pulls up the cd info and will play them all back no problem-it just wont importing without freezing.
I am able to rip cds using other programs, but Its a process to transfer everything multiple times for every cd.
I have reinstalled itunes several times, I have clicked the error correction box, and have attempted to import using just about every option there is. All my updates are current, both for the ipod, and for windows, Hp has not yet released any updates for my drive.
Can anyone help me? I have absolutely no clue what to do, Ive googled this issue, and find things that are similar, but not the same-also most issues I find tend to be several years old, making searches even harder.
HELP!!!

anyone have any ideas? im willing to try just about anything....except del taco

  • Cant import song to itunes

Yesterday there wasnt any problems but today when i tried to open a song itunes just froze. The spinning wheel with all the collors appears and it stays that way untill i force itunes to close.

Can you explain exactly how you are trying to move the songs from iTunes? Have you got your Nano set to manually manage songs and playlists?
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • ITunes Match not working - Can't import songs (iTunes 11)

I recently had downloaded music from this one musician.
My phone is unable to use iTunes Match to get the new songs, the old ones are still on there.
I like the musician's songs that are on my phone, but I also like the new ones.
I tried importing manually, but it says I could use iTunes Match to get the new songs.
    Help, anyone?

Thank you for all this help, but I have found a way to get them on my phone. I imported the songs onto my livingroom computer via flash drive, and just put them in. That computer has no problem with iCloud, mine does (somehow).

  • Cant import my itunes libary from my external hard drive

i moved my all my music from my laptop to my external hard drive and im not able to open itunes and listed to my music. I can physically find each song but i dont have the time to find locate each one of my tracks. Please help!

The first and best option to do would be open iTunes and go into preferences. Once there head to the advanced tab. Select the iTunes Music folder on your external drive. That may fix the links you haven't already but will break the links that you created by hand.
If you are running time machine go back to before you moved the music onto the external drive.
If you can do this move the iTunes music folder onto the external drive being sure to include the xml file. The next time you open iTunes it should ask you to locate or create a new library (if this does not happen simply hold the option key while starting iTunes). Select the folder containing the music and xml files on your external drive. This will open it up from there and be no different than it was before with the exception of being external.
Note that this will also work if you want to take your music with you but not the computer. Hold the option key and select the folder on another computer and there is your iTunes ready to sync an iPod and not damage the host computer. Also you can create multiple libraries for one user but beware of duplicates.

  • Cant import songs or add to my library

when I open i tunes and click import on the file menu, itunes just closes the same happens when i click export, or add file to library. I ran a Norton Antivirus scan to see if it was a virus, spyware, etc, but nothing came up. And when I go to my computer and try to open my music folder, it says Windows Explorer needs to close. I tried running a scan on only that folder too. Can someone please help me??

Don't know if this will help, but first make sure you have your music backed up. It's always possible that your antivirus software could be causing the problem, or you may have just downloaded a corrupted file. I would uninstall iTunes, then download it again. "Save" the install file rather than "Run" it. Shut down your internet connection for safety, turn off your antivirus program, then install iTunes. Restart your computer & turn your antivirus software on. May be a little bit of trouble, but it's worked for me on other software

  • Extended Pause in Music When Switching Songs (iTunes 8.1)

I'm currently on my work PC and am trying to play music from my iPod via iTunes 8.1. Most of the time I'll be listening to music fine, tracks play flawlessly, no problems. Then randomly, when a song finishes up and is switching to the next song, iTunes locks up for about 10-15 seconds. Music stops playing, my taskbar is frozen and the only way to switch applications is to use Alt+Tab.
I'm running the Last.fm scrobbler along side of iTunes, so I wonder if there may be a problem with that. I'll try disabling Last.fm and play some music and see what happens. A status update on this will be posted in about an hour or so. If it is Last.fm, any ideas what caused iTunes 8.1 to break the connection with Last.fm? Fixable?
Thanks for any help that is provided
*Edit: Okay, so just after posting this I exited the Last.fm scrobbler application and just started clicking the Next button in iTunes. After about 15 songs, iTunes locked up again. I'd also like to note that I have Shuffle and Repeat Playlist enabled. I am also playing my entire iPod library, not a specific playlist.
If more details are needed, let me know.

    Hi..
I´m having the same problem with itunes 8.1. I don't have any add ons, scripts, just plain Itunes, with music (mp3) and I´m on a Imac. Tried several things, like re-building my library, checking my mp3, etc...
The only solution I found was downgrade to 8.0.2 again, now everythig works great, no lags, no frozen itunes.
At my house I also have windows pc, with itunes 8.1 the pc's work OK!!! Same library, etc... I´m having problems with the MAC!!!

I have reinstalled: 1)itunes 5.0 2)quicktime stand alone 3)ewido-malware 4)adjusted cdrom speed as suggested in quicktime menu

Did you purchase them on your iPad with the same Apple ID that you are using for iTunes on your iPhone and that iTunes on your Mac is sign into?

  • Importing CD's to itunes locks up computer

Recent acquired ipod and loaded all software. When I began to import by CD's to itunes the procedure got to the import screen, started to import the first song and after about 3 seconds, locked up the computer and did nothing. I could not exit itunes, no features of itunes worked and the only way to exit was to turn off the power to the PC. This happened at random, as some CD's imported ok, many did not. No error messages were displayed. The PC just locked up. Any ideas?

I found a work around. Rip songs to Windows Media Player. Go to WMP and open folder with songs. Click on each song and select "Open With" and select ITunes. Songs will import to Itunes, but with no Info. Go to Itunes, select each song and change the Info of Title, Album, Track and Genre. Do not erase song from WMP as iTunes will require that as the source. When updating iPod, these "imported" songs will import just fine with all the correct info.

  • Cd's will import into itunes, but not songs I have in RealPlayer.

I'm sorry for starting a new thread if this has been covered, but I couldn't find anything on it. I've tried all day to import songs from RealPlayer (purchased) into my itunes library with no success. A cd will load directly into itunes and so did songs from a cd that was loaded into realplayer. Just cant transfer the ones I bought at the realplayer music store. THX

  • ITunes locks up after adding just 1 song

My upgraded, removed, and readded iTunes locks up after adding just one song. It just stops responding. Then I have to turn it on over and over again just to get music on the thing. Can someone help me?

There are lots of reasons why this might happen.
    One quick thing to check,
Edit > Preferences > Advanced tab > Importing tab
What's your setting for "use error correction when reading audio cds"?
Change it the other way of what it is now, and try importing again.

  • Importing songs to itunes folder from dvd's

i have a data dvd backup of all my 1400 songs from itunes folder. i tried to import it into a newly dowloaded version of itunes on my laptop with new hard drive.. it placed all the song info in the library, so i connected my ipod and directed it to this new library. it updated ipod successfully. but when i tried to play, i realized that i had only imported the song titles, etc. into itunes folder and subsequently onto ipod.. and because i directed to this "new" library, i lost all 1400 songs on the ipod.. pls help. how do i get my music from data dvd backup to library and to ipod. and do i have to import each song separately.. there are like 25 different folders on the dvd of albums, and downloads from itunes store....i just want what i had before my hard drive died. forgive me if i didn't post this right, my first time...

Note - You don't need to copy them to the HD first,
    as btabz suggested.
There are different ways to import music. You can copy them (the music files) onto the HD wherever you want and then import into iTunes, or have iTunes import directly off the DVD and put the files in the iTunes Music Folder. Both ways get the music into iTunes and stored on your HD. It depends if you want the music in the iTunes Music folder or not. With the way I suggested, the music is placed where you want, instead of having iTunes put it where it wants.
Both ways will work fine though.
