Cant install destribution point on site system server (0x800706ba)

hi everybody , im having a problem trying to install configuration manager 2012 destribution point (im using sccm 2012 sp1).
when im deploying the site system to the machine (server 2012) the wizard go smooth and looks good , but when i look at the distmgr.log i see the following error :
CWmi::connect() failed to connect to server\root\sccmdp error = 0x800706ba
just yesterday i have installed it with the same configuration and method on a virtual server (im having a problem with a physical one ) any ideas ???

I recently had a similar problem with Server 2012R2 and HP Proliant (a few years old). I had to update the firmware so that Windows 2012 could be installed properly.
This actually makes sense in your case as you have no issue with virtual.
However this is a question for the Windows Server 2012 forum. This isn't an issue with ConfigMgr.

You can look into Resource Manager and Event Viewer to find the other currently running MSI installation. You may get a warning in Event Log that means the MSI wants to install a SQL Server
related Component (Figure 3). The Resource Manager confirms this (Figure 4).

This implies that ODP.NET does NOT need to be installed on a client. However, I cannot find OraOPs9.dll on a machine with Client Release 9.2 installed. Should OraOps?.dll automatically come with a Client installation of 9.2 or higher?
ODP.NET needs to be installed on the client. OraOps9.dll is part of ODP.NET, not the Oracle Client.
Also, if an application is built with the 10g ODP.NET, can it be run from a machine with OraOps9.dll?
If an application is built with 10g ODP.NET, it can be run with 9.2 ODP.NET as long as you do not use any 10g APIs. The new features in 10g ODP.NET are included in the doc and the ODP.NET FAQ for your reference.

Log location for the DP having only "Distribution point" and "site system" installed

I have one SCCM DP 2012 server. that have only "Distribution point" and "site system" role installed.
Is the log will be generated on primary server? I am not able to find the log on this server.
Please help me in this.

You will have it in a folder called \SMS_DP\sms\logs, you can also see information about package transfers in the primary site server in the distmgr.log and pkgxfermgr.log files .

The servers are added as content location servers for this boundary group. Only servers that have a distribution point or state migration point installed on them are available.

SCCM 2012 - Change Distribution Point's Site System Properties Site Code

Hello All,
I'm hoping someone can help me out. Here's what I have and here's what I'm trying to do.
SCCM 2012 R1
Each of our offices has a Windows 7 SP1 Ent PC that is a distribution point for that office's 10-20 machines. A number of these offices and their DPs were setup prior to me setting up a number of Secondary Site Servers. So right now, these DPs' site codes
are the primary site server's. I'd like to change these to one of the Secondary Site Servers.
When I go to the Site System properties of one of these Win7 distribution points, the Site Code is grayed out.
So, the question is, how can I change one of these DPs' site codes?

Cant install oracle 8i in windows 2003 server

hi,
I am a newbie in Oracle.While Im trying to install Oracle 8i in Windows 2003 server , setup is not running.It didn't show anything.When trying to run from auto run, after splash screen nothing came.I formatted hard disk,changed two more hard disks,.changed machine...but cant install it in no way... It is the same case in Windows XP home edition.
But it is running in one of my friend's machine(windows 2003 server)
Please help me with valuable solutions.

Did your friend install on W2003 or upgrade from an older version of the OS?
When trying to run programs on an OS that is not certified for the programs, it is hit-n-miss whether the OS actually has the support files needed for the programs.
Think about this: the Oracle environment needs OS support in the form of DLLs and other files. The contents of the DLLs are made visible as APIs. Each time Microsoft releases patches, it is possible that the APIs that Oracle used are changed. This is extremely true when a new version of the OS is released, and even more true with stripped versions such as XP Home.
If your friend installed and then applied patches, [s]he may have hit the proper API combination. If you appled patches first, you may have skootched your APIs to the point that Oracle can not longer install.
Even if you happen to get it installed, you run the risk of getting clobbered any time you install a new Microsoft patch. The risk is minimized when you use a certified combination of the OS and application.

Cant install PhotoSmart B109f on Windows Home Server 2011

Hi - Looking for help to get PhotoSmart B109f Printer installed on WHS2011 (64bit). I downloaded basic drivers for Win 7 64 bit and extracted the files from the exe. I went to device manager and used "Update Driver" to install the driver and the device is listed under devices but not under printers. It's listed under "Other Devices" and is not functional. When I check properties of the device, the first item in the list is PhotoSmart B109 but it's got the yellow asterix and the error "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" .
Any ideas how I can get a driver compatible with Whs2011?

Trouble installing Distribution Point in SCCM 2007

I am experiencing issues while installing DP on a new Windows 2008 R2 server. I am using New Site System Server Wizard to install the DP from my primary site which is SCCM 2007 R3. After the wizard completes, it shows the new server under Site Systems in
the console however there is no info available in distmgr.log and sitecomp.log
Also, it has not created the SMSPKGD$ and other folders it creates after the DP installs successfully. I have also added the Primary site server to the local admin group of the new server however with no success. Not sure if I am missing something or there
are some other logs to check. I have installed DP in the past using same steps however not getting success this time.
Any suggestions.

check hman.log to see that new site system is in use or not? what status it shows under site components?
did you tried to distribute package to this new DP?

Fail to install Distibution Point on Windows Server 2012

I have been trying to install a distribution point via sccm 2012 on a windows 2012 server. I keep getting errors about the drive not found (distribution manager failed to verify drive specified by user on distribution point) and it won't install. It worked
on all the other servers I tried, but this one keeps giving trouble.
Does anyone have any idea as to the cause?

I uninstalled the WDS according to the information on this site: http://myitforum.com/myitforumwp/2011/11/08/configmgr-2012-no-need-to-manually-install-wds/
But it still keeps giving me errors about the disk not being valid, it does that wether I choose a disk or leave the default values.

Add Site System Roles (Management Point)

To resolve an issue I was having with the management point role I have removed it.
I left it for an hour and then restarted the server and the role had been removed. When I tried to re-add the role the option is greyed out. I believe this is due to the Server being the primary site but am finding it hard to get any definitive answer on
how to re-add the role.
Currently my site has no management point.
My question is HOW DO I RE-ADD THE ROLE OF "MANAGEMENT POINT"?
Will the configuration management setup wizard allow me to do this, whilst retaining the current roles and config?

I thought it was a permissions issue at first to. Signed into the server with the service account used to install SCCM and also explicitly named my domain account as a local admin despite me being a domain admin. Furthermore, I have access to remove the
roles from the server and permission to add and remove roles to all other servers.
Adding role
In management console Administration>Site Configuration>Servers and Site System Roles
This bring up the list of servers and when left clicked their roles. I right click on the server in question and the option to "add site system roles" is greyed out as are the sub-options under start and the option to delete.

SMS Agent Host Service requirement for Site Server or Site Systems

Is the SCCM Client a requirement on the SCCM 2012 Site Server or Site Systems or is it possible to disable SMS Agent Host Service or uninstall the client without affecting any of the Site roles? I have actually done that and everything
is working as expected but I wanted to make sure that none of the site roles are dependent on the client agent.

Move SUP role from Server 2008 R2 to new Site System running Server 2012 R2

Is it possible to move the primary SUP role which is currently running on a separate site system under Server 2008 R2 (WSUS 3.0 SP2) and move it to a new site system running Server 2012 R2 using the same SUSDB? I've moved the SUP role
around before by setting up a secondary SUP (using the same DB) then removing the primary SUP role which causes the secondary SUP to become the Primary but that was using the same version of OS and WSUS. With the version of WSUS being different
on Server 2012 R2, I was thinking this may not be possible since the documentation says the WSUS versions must be the same when creating multiple SUP roles.

As the document indicated, "When you have multiple software update points at a site, ensure that they are all running the same version of WSUS." So the scenario you decribed should be not supported.
