Cant install from 10.6 to 10.6.2

Hello. Im the owner of a MacBook 2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo with snow leopard 10.6 and im trying to update to 10.6.2 i downloaded the 10.6.2 and the 10.6.2 Combo in both i cant update in the installer window when i choose the Hard Drive i got the message saying cant install the update in this hard drive . This volume does not fulfill the necessary requirements for the update .
I got 150GB of free space . I dont understand please help.

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
There are several steps to try. These are not in order of preference.
1. Startup from your original disk that came with your MacBook by inserting it, then choose restart and hold the c-key until the grey screen with the Apple logo appears. Choose your language. On the next screen ther will be a menu bar at the top. Choose Disk Utility from the Utilities menu, choose your startup drive and Repair Disk. If any repairs were necessary and done rerun Repair Disk until all is clear, then restart normally. If this doesn't work:
2. Startup in safe mode by holding the shift key until the Apple logo appears. Then try the installation. If no success:
3. disconnect all peripherals - printer, external drives, etc. Restart and try again.

hi everyone, i've fallen at the first hurdle!
i've just bought a new airport express base station to use with airtunes but when i try to select the storage i want to install to it wont let me choose my hard drive because it says my version of OS X isnt supported but i have the latest version.

You cannot use the Airport Express to "boost" the wireless signal of your BT HomeHub. Therefore, the best configuration choice would be to configure the Airport Express to wirelessly "join" the existing wireless network created by your BT HomeHub.
The configuration process most often runs into difficulty when you have a secured wireless network and you try to configure the same security settings on the Airport Express that you use on the BT HomeHub. Preferably both will be set up to use "WPA Personal" security with a simple password. Using WEP security is possible, but less preferable and more prone to difficulty.
Start by having your wireless Mac, your Airport Express (recently reset to "factory default" settings), and your BT HomeHub all in the same room. Run the Airport Utility - it should "see" your Airport Express. Click on the Airport Express icon, then click the "Continue" button. Follow the process for configuring the Airport Express to "join an existing wireless network". Once all required settings have been entered and updated to the Airport Express, the Airport Express will restart. You may need to ensure your Mac has connected back to the BT HomeHub wireless network (from your Mac's Airport menu). As for the Airport Express - you know you will have succeeded if it shows a solid green status light within a minute or two of restarting.

I removed boot camp from my macbook pro and when it restarted it went to disk utility and will not let me restore or set up a new osx , how can i get the macbook to install from the disk i have

I have tried to just install the new version of itunes from the apple website, it looks like it downloads but after 5 minutes at the end of the install it says 'old version of itunes cannot be uninstalled, please contact support.'?
Is there anyway I can remove the version of itunes from my computer? i dont mind if i lose the music/content I already have on my itunes. I need to do this as i have just received the iphone 4 and need to install the newest version of itunes.

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

We do not share an apple ID and her phone is now logged in with her account and I have since backed it up on itunes under her account as well. I have turned off automatic downloads on her phone but they still keep downloading. I delete one app and then another one just appears on the phone.

Cant Install Tiger From Original Installation Media After Hard Drive Failure.

Hard Drive failed (no boot, nasty clicking sound).
I installed a new hard drive. Tried to install Snow Leopard from a retail disk - it would boot from the disc and I would get partway through the installation before stalling.
After doing research, I realized I needed to install from the original installation media (tiger) and then upgrade to a newer OS.
I dont have the Original installation media, called up Apple - paid their fees, got the 4 installation discs and no pressing C while booting, or pressing the option key will get the computer to boot from that installation disc.
I just get a folder with a ?
I know the drive works fine, because it booted normally from the Snow Leopard disc.
I know the new disc Apple sent is good, because I put it in my other computer (iMac) and saw the installer and was able to open the PDF readme.
Now im stuck - cant reinstall the OS because I cant get it to boot off the disc!
When holding down the C button during boot, I can hear the disc drive making noise - but all i get this that blinking folder with a ?

I could not boot into time machine's external drive. I used my snow leopard disk to install and and then Mavericks from app store. Then migration assistant.
I am thinking about a backup to my backup.

Cant install software from disk. Terminal window opens with a logon and bash message?

I cannot install software from disk & in some cases download.
If any software disk is inserted the terminal window appears.
The Disk has to be clicked to open the contents but install files or package files show as a blank doc and not the usual yellow package icon.
All that shows is a log on message in the terminal window, but nothing about install.
I thought Drive issues but the drive plays audio and DVD perfect

Still struggling to understand why copying the entire root dir to a disk image and then restoring from that image did not, as expected, yield an identical system, and why I even had to reinstall after doing this.
Because there is a lot more going on under the hood than merely copying files.
The only way to do what you want is to use cloning software like Carbon Copy Cloner.
My advice is to rescue your personal files to a regular non-TimeMachine external drive, Zero erase the ENTIRE drive and install OS X fresh and update, then your programs from original sources and files from backup.
Then, make a bootable clone and you can copy that as many times as you want and each one is bootable.

I can't get into the installation menu. The third CD does work correctly, i'm not sure about the second CD. Is it possible that the CD is broken? Like maybe there is one file missing or something I don't know.

How do a clean install from Time Machine Backup which is in other partition of internal hard drive

I have 2 partitions in my internal hard drive they are
1. Mac OS (Sysem Files)
2. HDD (Other Personal Documents).
I did Time Machine Backup in HDD partition. So now i want to do clean install from the Time Machine Backup without format the whole drive since my system not booting meant that system crashed and cant boot in anyway (Just consider ). Also I have MAC bootable USB stick.

Having never seen a setup like that, I'm not sure how it will work.
In theory, just erase the Mac OS volume, then install, choosing to recover from a Time Machine backup.
When you boot into Recovery, open Disk Utility and select the Mac OS volume, not the whole disk. Erase it, then quit DU and restore from the Time Machine backup. However, this is the part I'm not certain of. I would imagine the partition with TM backup will be mounted, but I don't know.
If you can't see the Time Machine backup from the Recovery HD on the drive, try it from the USB Recovery stick (it is a Recovery USB and not the old Lion install USB, correct?)

If you don't have a "built-in" recovery HD because of your partitioning, then you would have to boot from that USB Recovery disk.
Your setup is severely flawed. A backup on the same drive as the data is not a backup. You will lose everything with a disk failure.
Also, partitioning off your OS on a Mac is not necessary and is probably counterproductive. OS X is not Windows.

hello everyone please help me i have macbook pro 2011 core i5 version
i just installed 2.5 ssd as second hdd
i cant boot from external dvd device to install any os the external dvd keeps on spining and mac is just thinking it doesnt show press any key to install
it shows the device when a boot into mac parition
i am trying to install windows on origianl 500 gb hdd and linux on ssd
but not luck
the external dvd drive works i pluged into my pc and it works
please help thansk in advance

I do not know about Disk Warrior but if you have a compatible OSX on an external HDD you certainly can boot the MBP. Use startup manager:
